There is some evidence that vinegar consumption can reduce the glycemic response to a meal and potentially increase satiety. Therefore, individuals who are diabetic or who may be trying to lose weight may notice some benefit to consumption. At 3 calories per tablespoon it won’t eat up all of your daily caloric allotment if you are in one of those situations and want to give it a try. It also likely isn’t going to be detrimental to health or weight loss progress in any way. However, if you think apple cider vinegar alone will be the solution to your weight loss, you will be greatly disappointed because there is no magic pill. Ultimately, for weight management and overall health your best bet is to consume an adequate calorie intake for your goals from a nutrient-dense diet, stay active and maintain a healthy body weight.5 -

For you. There are just as many people who have acid reflux and ACV makes it worse. Depends on whether your reflux is from excess acidity or low acidity. ACV adds acid to the stomach, it does not neutralize it. If your symptoms are caused by too little acid, adding a bit more will help.4 -

Remind her that nutritionists get a bout 6 weeks of training, usually through a correspondence course. If she wants real, truthful, and useful information she should see a Registered Dietician.2 -
My cousin told me about ACV. Half a bottle of water with a dash of cayenne pepper, and a shot of AVC. Definitely curbs the appetite. Not so much of a diet, but better than diet pills. Cousin has Crohn's disease and the ACV is more natural appetite suppressant. Good luck! I'm with you on this one!14

I have apple cider vinegar on the shelf for when I make red velvet cake. I don't use it for anything else. I don't need to nutrilise acid because I have a healthy functioning pancreas which does that for me.
There's some logic to the idea that drinking it will make you feel so sick you won't want to eat and so will lose weight. Sounds like a miserable way to live though.1 -
It's good for digestion. Acid to break down your food better. It also metabolizes certain organs. When you digest better, most likely you get rid of the food faster, and therefore you lose the fat. It does increase energy. Try it in the morning with glass of water ... it acts better than coffee. So anything that gives energy, your body is burning calories to provide you the energy. All in all, it's not like you're losing hundreds of calories from it... probably 100 or so. A lot of people use it to cure indigestion though.21

It does increase energy. Try it in the morning with glass of water ... it acts better than coffee. So anything that gives energy, your body is burning calories to provide you the energy. All in all, it's not like you're losing hundreds of calories from it... probably 100 or so. A lot of people use it to cure indigestion though.

What? Metabolizes organ? That would be a horrible, horrible thing!
And better digestion actually would mean better absorption of nutrients, which is a good thing, but that would also mean better absorption of calories.2 -

I used ACV for years for other things--hair, skin, GERD--and it worked wonders. But I've never tried it as a diet. It did help maintain my weight at the time, but unfortunately, I wasn't shooting for that lol. If you're going to use it for anything, don't use the clear stuff. Opt for unpasteurized with "mother"--the floating residue at the top. The clear stuff is good for cleaning and cooking... that's about it.6

Sadly, I don't think this nonsense is ever going to die. Just this week MSN had an article about how Jennifer Aniston drinks ACV every morning and was basically saying that it's magic and will make us all like her. Uh, no. No thanks. Ridiculous.0 -
Protect tooth enamel ? I must disagree. My husband used to drink a swallow daily, not diluted, and ended up having dental issues over time, which I am assuming had something to do with it. ?? He read something that made him believe this was a good idea for what I don't know. Just thought I would mention.0
