Down a clothing size and as I am into heavy lifting have met my old personal bests in 5 months back on the gym wagon. Will surpass them by October.15

Yesterday I bought a dress for a friendswedding in two weeks. It is a 10. I started this in February looking stuffed into a 18 dress. The 10 I don't even need spanxs.28

In all honesty I don't know why my cravings have gone away. I'm very much one of these people on MFP who has continued to eat all the stuff I always ate, except less of it. That said, I have a few non-scientific observations that I can share but no silver bullet:
1) As I wrote in a different forum, having internalised the science of CICO I no longer find myself wondering in the evenings—boredom eating time—whether my efforts to lose weight will work (as I'd have done with a 'magic' diet like the pineapple diet or whatever. NOTE: I've never done a pineapple diet; just sayin'). Therefore if I were to become tempted to snack at night it's easier to simply dismiss it, knowing I'm not 'actually' hungry. So a bit of a general mental shift supported by science vs. magic.
2) I wouldn't say that I've started moving away from starchy carbs because I still eat them whenever the mood strikes, but I have started moving TOWARDS foods I already know I like that still resemble once on my plate the form they took in nature (fish rather than fish fingers, for example, but I'm not going to replace a plate of pasta with a plate of wheat). Less processed = longer to digest? I've also found in the past that eating starches (and by extension sugars more broadly) makes me want to eat more starches—and seem to digest fast in that 'Chinese food makes me hungry an hour later' way—so I just try to put some emphasis on things that'll make me and keep me full.
3) I tend to cook from scratch; nothing complicated or overly time-consuming—frozen peas and frozen spinach are in my repertoire—the point is that I'm not eating as much stuff that has preservatives and MSG or other flavour enhancers in it. Please don't confuse me with a clean eating disciple, I'm the furthest thing from it. AND I'm not an MSG witch-hunter either—did you know MSG occurs naturally in many foods like tomatoes, cheese, peas, potatoes, mushrooms, etc.? I'm only trying to make the point that processed and/or pre-packaged foods very often have additives that tend to make me want to rush back for more. It could be I'm staving off manufactured/commercial food addictions by doing my own cooking (even in cases where 'cooking' is still little more than 'warming', per the frozen veg side dishes above). Again, no scientific claims being made here.24 -
My NSV for this week. I'm on week 3 of C25K. I've done it a couple of times before and know I need to run on the prescribed schedule in order to be able to complete a 5k at the end of it. Last night, I was feeling run down and decided to skip my planned run. Instead, I watched a little TV and went to bed early.
This morning, I went to the gym and initially decided to do my regular workout for Friday - a half-hour of walking on the treadmill, then leg work. About 5 minutes into the walk, I turned up the speed on the treadmill and began running. By the time I was finished, I had completed the intervals for my planned Thursday run. Still on course to run my 5k at the end of October.32 -
Just bought a size large sweater yesterday when I would have gotten a xl/xxl before! down 15 pounds21

Three NSVs this week! First, I jogged over my lunch break for the first time ever. Second, I retired one of my work skirts as I am now too small for it to fit well. And third, this morning I jogged two full blocks without stopping!24

Oh my....
I usually shower but do enjoy the occasional bath & I decided to go for one yesterday. When I get in, I usually sort of pop my hip out so it touches the side of the bath when I sit down & I don't slide.
Went in, business as usual, hip out & touched... fresh air! Bit of a slide & a slight wee choke but on the plus side, I guess this means that I've less hip than previously. Will have to eh, recalibrate my own spacial awareness....
(Please tell me it's not just me who is doing the clumsiest things during this journey?? Haha)20 -
Mine's a two in one, I've firstly bought a new pair of jeans in the next size down and secondly am wearing a crop top out and feeling comfortable in it!

Buying new clothes yesterday. Waist size down from 40 to 36. Shirts down from XL to L. YAY!24

Made an avocado chocolate cake yesterday. It was super low cal and all (around 700 calories) for such a big cake too and had planned to treat myself and eat all of it (all within my allowance etc) for lunch and dinner but after eating half of it, I was full and put the cake back in the fridge. Usually, I would just ignore that I am full and gorge myself on cakes and feel so bad afterwards or just go and eat it later. It is still in the fridge and I will take it with me when I go visit my friend this evening. Now I just need to see if I can do the same with ice cream that's my kryptonite.19

My first time being able to post on this one..... My NSV? My profile picture. Not a big difference, but I can see a tiny difference in how my clothes fit. Wearing the same identical out fit right around 3 Months apart. Oh, and a friend of mine runs a Facebook page for monthly fitness challenges. I completed the September challenge I set for myself. Super proud of that because I am not that consistent with exercising25

i'm here to brag on my dad. who i'm not even close to, but damn.
this past thursday i got word that he had had a fall on the previous friday (still with me)? it was reported to me as 'fell in [store name] very frenzy much nursing home'.
i haven't talked to the man in 20 years, but i broke the embargo and went over to see him on friday night. here is the real story about how he fell:
"well, i was in a hurry, you see. so i got off the bus. then i ran across [street]. and they have that . . . you have to step up, you see. and i didn't see it so i had a fall'.
so lemme recap this. little old man one week into his 93rd year, former tennis fiend, former jogger, former born-again health fanatic after a slipped disc in his 40's or so . . . RUNS across a busy city street, probably in the dark. trips on the kerb on the opposite side and falls hard. right arm occupied with holding something so he would have gone all the way with nothing to break it for him.
and what does he break? i'll tell you guys what. he breaks three ribs.18 -

I've been on and off MFP a few times over the last 5 years. This time, I've been losing but with diet only, I've hit the treadmill only sporadically since becoming active on MFP again at the beginning of August, and then just to walk. This week we're finally getting cool enough weather to exercise outside. So, two nights ago I went jogging with my bf. At first, I tried to keep up with him and I was winded immediately. Once I found my (slowww) pace, I was able to keep up a jog all the way back. Then last night we went again and I kept to my own pace right from the start and I kept up a jog FOR ONE FULL MILE. I literally cannot remember the last time I ran, it was probably in 2015, but I can (slowly) run a mile!!!32

hah! my gp told me a few months ago that 'a little senility' is normal beyond a certain age. then she began grilling me about when it was that my grandmother went west in that way. 80's somewhere, i said, after she lost that one leg. how bout your father, she said. last i heard he was very with-it, i said. and how old is he? i do some quick math and say 91. well there you go then, she said. 'die in your 70's and you'll be fine'.
not everybody would like my gp but i do.

I fit very comfortably in a Loft size 8 pants...it was their Julie cut, as I'm on the curvier side and also Loft is notorious for vanity sizing, but it was nice. I can't wait until I'm a size 8 in stores like H&M. I'm size 10 there except in jeans, then I'm a size 12.17

Bought an inexpensive stationary bike and have used it two days in a row (bought it Tuesday, put it together Friday night). Successfully cycled thirty minutes today, 22 yesterday. At roughly 13mph according to it. I'm going slow because of a bad knee and weak muscles. I'm going to use the bike daily, and should improve quickly.
I can also walk three miles at a time, assuming my bad knee doesn't start hurting (that's why I bought the bike, it's easier on the knee). Two months ago I was doing good to walk a mile.
