I have started the OCTOBER 2017 challenge early as I WILL BE AWAY UNTIL OCT 2ND

I WILL come too this area when I return. I have no way too log in or keep up until then.

MY PERSONAL GOAL will be 120 miles for OCTOBER.... :)

Hope too see all my 'oldies' join me and perhaps some new peoples here.... <3

Our motto for this challenge is too MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I'm in. Goal is low as I'm trying to be more consistent with my walking. 80 miles is my starting point

    My goal for October us 140km! Walking, elliptical, bike and row machine combined! This does not include just regular steps in a day

    Ok I'm in. My first forage into any kind of challenge and excercise so I'm starting slow. I will commit to 100km for October. That's. 3.2km a day. I should be able to do that. And hey everyone starts somewhere. All the best to all

    I recently set a goal to reach 1.5 Million steps before the end of the year. Stretch goal is 2 million steps. So for the month of October I need a half million to reach the 1.5 or 666,667 to reach 2 million. I think I can do it.

    Happy October First!

    Today, my husband and I finalised the Audax/Randonneuring season's Petit Year Round Randonneur (PYRR) series.

    An Audax/Randonneuring season is (for reasons I'm not sure about), from November 1 to October 31. The Petit Year Round Randonneur requires a total of 1200 km for the year, made up of rides from 50 km, 100 km or 150 km in length. You can do the 50s, for example, in the cold winter months, and make up the distance with 150 km rides in warmer months. Also, the rides can be made up of Permanents (official rides that can be done any time) or organised Audax events which can only be done when they are scheduled on the calendar. A bit complicated, but we like the concept for (a) an Audax award, (b) the need for strategising throughout the year to end up with the minimum 1200 km, and (c) it encourages riders back into the sport.

    Anyway, we finished the series today with a 50 km. And it was tough!! Much tougher than we expected. 50 km might seem a bit trivial for distance, but this had 500 metres of climbing, and all but one climb were into the wind. Wind? Yep, gusts over 70km/h funnelling down the valleys and directly into the face.

    And you need to pay attention to 50s. At the 15km/h minimum speed... you don't get much time to play with before getting to a checkpoint at 37km, as well at the one at 50km. We just made the 37 km one with 13 minutes to spare, after being 15 minutes behind at the top of the last climb. Then we finished the ride 12 minutes within the time limit... after the last big climb that featured 9 to 14% grades.

    Phew!! What a way to finish!!

    For the first half of the ride my average heart rate was 158. That's higher than I like for an average HR at my age ... it hurt.

    10/1 1.3 mile walk in 24 minutes. Still getting quite winded, but hope losing the extra weight will mean no inhaler needed this winter.

    I like to be in, this year I have started and completely slacked off, quite disappointed with myself, but here goes.

    I would aim for 100 miles for the month of October. Anything more will be a blessing.

    I'm in, I'm just going by step count. Last month was 112 miles, my goal is 124 for this month.
