I realized a few days ago that since losing weight my back pain (which was making me miserable every single day for YEARS) was completely GONE! I don't know how it took me so long to notice when it used to bother me all the time, but now that it has suddenly come to my attention, I'm so deeply grateful to be pain-free!!21

I've been noticing that these days I walk through the city with long, purposeful strides where I practically throw my legs out one in front of the other. In contrast, one of the things that had prompted me to finally get serious about my weight issues was that I'd noticed I'd started walking a bit like a duck (splay-legged waddle).19

I know regular squats (without weights) are super ULTRA tough (they were for me) and even the thought of them brings wincing to my mind. I remember years ago, when I had a personal trainer, making me do squats and WOW...super HARD they were. For you to do "back squats" WITH WEIGHTS MORE THAN YOU WEIGH, all I can say is--you ROCK, period.
Thank you.....The Cross fit group I found has really changed my life. A group of very supportive people who encourage each other at every session and we laugh and have fun as well as work hard.5 -
Kind of scale victory but mostly a mind victory. About 4 months ago the scale stopped moving. I had lost 79 of the 100 I have to lose. 8 weeks ago I started reading about metabolism and discovered I had likely hurt mine by eating such a low number of cals... just 1200 a day. So I reluctantly upped my calories to 1490 .... then I waited for a weight gain but after 8 wks as of this morning, I dropped 2 lbs. the victory is the resolve and the feeling of trust in myself.26

Thankfully I will never know or need this NSV, but that is awesome!

Beat my 1000 calorie burn time by 2 mins. 95 mins a month ago, 85 mins last week and 83 mins a few days ago.16

I saw one of my former students (that I had @ 2 years ago in class) a week ago. I saw him again last night and he told me that he told his girlfriend (another former student) that I had lost a lot of weight and was a "toothpick". At 179, I'm far from a "toothpick" but it made me feel good that this teenage boy actually noticed the weight loss.18

At the end of the month, beginning of next I try on my clothes that were too tight last month and find the next set. Today, I can finally wear my black Speedo swimsuit and the two bargain basement pants I got for work fit (a tad tightly, but they fit). Since I seem to have misplaced my 1988 jeans (I know I’ll find them someday) I am now out of too small clothes in my closet to use to judge my weight loss except for my wedding dress. Even if it fits me soon, I don’t think I’m wearing it... lol. I’ll try to buy some new things (size 8 U.S.) come post x-mas sales.17

I bought a pair of workout pants to actually work out in... not only just for lounging.
I don't really know what size I am right now and I ordered them online so I couldn't try them on. I took a chance and ordered them in a size smaller than what I thought I might be, figuring if nothing else they'll fit in the future. When I pulled them out of the package I thought, "no, these are way too small. They'll never fit." They fit PERFECTLY.24 -
more of my gf's clothing now fits!! pair of trousers that are kinda loungey/workout. Nice for over my squash shorts in the icy weather.
Long sleeved running top - which I love so am dead chuffed with that
And a pair of her jeans (old size 12s) - now admittedly I cannot quite get the button to do up on them, but zip is ok, muffin top not overly dramatic and gotta say they look epic on my legs!! haha
she is less than amused by the clothing thievery that has begun!22 -
Bought a beautiful velvet off the shoulder top online. When it came I threw away the packaging because I KNOW my sizes. Yeah, it's falling off16

1 year 2 weeks of weight loss today! 24kg down and even if I've been stuck at the same point for months now, I'm bloody happy I've kept it off and still not discouraged to finish what I started and lose the other 7kg left!
I wish you all motivation, dedication, determination and self control during December, let's finish this year with person bests!23 -
Pulled out my scrub jackets from last year. I just grabbed one and threw it in my work bag. Get to work, put the jacket on and burst out laughing. It's HUGE!! I can wrap it around me 1 and a half times. Oh well. That's going to mean that all of last year's winter scrubs are going to not fit. Oh, BTW I've lost 51 lbs.30

My iPhone tagged me as two different people!
Sometimes I feel the same size but today my phone tells me last year's picture is a totally different person than my recent photos. Weirdly wonderful feeling.33 -
I wear scrubs to work and after my few old pairs were falling off I bought some new ones. In a smaller size!

Two actually:
1. On November 26th I had my 1 year healthy eating & sporting anniversary (I had a physical diary at the time so I'll have to wait another month and a half until my 1 year MFP anniversary). I celebrated with a 4 hour body step event.
2. I was bugged by an unidentifiable craving so I went several times to the supermarket and stood 20 minutes or so each time in front of the section with chocolate and chips. I tried to imagine the taste of every product to see if that's what I crave but my mind rejected every option. Never before have I rejected sweets and other unhealthy munchies! As for the craving, as soon as I included fish and spinach in my diet, it mysteriously vanished.27 -
I've become a dedicated gym-goer over the past three months or so, doing a variety of cardio and weight machines.
Yesterday I picked up a barbell for the first time. Won't be the last!
I also did 180lbs 3x8 on the leg press machine. Current weight is 201, and really looking forward to pressing my bodyweight. Then plan to transition over to using the squat rack (starting low and building up).
Shoulder injury (doing my PT) means i can't do much weights with upper body, but feels really good to rally feel like my legs are getting STRONG.17 -
Choosing my battles...daily and WISELY!
Today, I was soooo tempted to get bent out of shape (literally--hmmmm?), about matter(s) that I really don't have control over. My weight issues are probably 80% or more mental/spiritual...that is, for YEARS I've allowed anger, misunderstandings and yuck to give me "permission" to over eat+be slothful (lazy)+not taking proper care nor time for myself=obesity and sulking, YUCKY attitudes. This "battle" for me is a daily one, because it's ALWAYS going to be something or someone that ticks me off (rather intentionally or not), not doing it "right" (meaning my way ) it's ALWAYS gonna to be a person, place or thing that doesn't see things the way I do and I can thereof CHOOSE to get a "tude" and "stew" about it or I can purposely CHOOSE to engage in constructive self-talk and DARE to see things from outside my "comfort-zone" and in either way, MAKE myself purposely choose love, gentleness, kindness, patience, understanding and quite frankly doing/being GOOD instead of fretting/worrying/complaining and losing my "cool". May sound flaky, but it's a real powerful thing I WISH I would have learned earlier in life and I'm so VERY grateful and thankful I'm learning/walking in this new and living way now.
So, today (and every day--FOREVER) I purposely choose NOT to make a big deal out of something and choose instead to humble myself and "be cool" no matter what. I'm NOT talking about "going along to get along" NO indeed I'm not...I'm talking about allowing others to learn what they need to without my opinions, nagging, complaining nor any such thing (unless asked).
Man! Choosing ones battle is so exciting, cool and FUN--Big ole NSV, Boom!21 -
For the past 15 years I have always had a pile of clothes in my closet that were too small, but I loved them and kept them because "some day". Everytime I moved (7 times), I would look at them, sometimes try them on to see how close I was, and decide if they were worth packing for the next move. I am getting ready to move again, so last night I went to that pile. I tried on the clothes to see how close I was and realized I fit in all the clothes (one was actually too big). I no longer have a "some day" pile in my closet!! I think this is the only time I have actually cried about clothes.44

That's wonderful! Congrats!5 -
I have been tracking on MFP for 139 days and have lost 25 pounds so far, last couple days was intermittently lightheaded especially with doing squats---checked my blood pressure and it was low--- two days off of blood pressure meds and BP is still normal!!! Think I may be off meds for the long term--will keep tracking!!!23

I can't stand to have clothes in my closet that don't fit so I keep a "give-away" box on the floor. Until 6 weeks ago and a fresh start on MFP, I tossed in clothes that suddenly felt too tight. Now I'm adding clothes as they get too loose. Before I closed up the full box to take to Goodwill, I dug through to the bottom too-tight layer and, surprise, found 4 tops that now fit beautifully!
I used to buy tops to fit over my belly not caring if the shoulder seam drooped. Now I wear can tops that fit my shoulders and my belly doesn't strain the buttons anymore.

NewLIFEstyle4ME wrote: »When shopping for clothes ( in stores and online), I no longer look at/for plus size clothes anymore-this is really a HUGE and game-changing break-thru for me. I've ONLY shopped/search for plus sizes for soooo very many years--wow!
I now just look at sizes large or extra large AND only in so-called "regular" sizes and they're fitting (sometimes with room to spare). I'm even tempted to begin looking at/for size mediums, just for the fun, hopefulness and faith of it all. This is sooooo EXCITING to me!!!! YAY and WOW again.
I remember the first time I didn't fit in plus sizes anymore. I was looking and looking and eyeballing the outfits and one of the sales girls in the store came over to me and asked me if I needed help. I told her it was my first time there and I didn't know what size I should I get and she gently said, 'I thought so because you're in the plus size section and I can tell by looking that you're not a plus size.' I was FLOORED.32 -

Truly understanding the phrase, ‘it’s not how many times you fall down, but about how many times you get back up.’
The beauty in that lesson is my NSV.28 -
Being able to buy some size 32 x 30 jeans today when I'd been stuck at 34x30 for a good while!! Not that 34x30 was anything to sneeze at, mind you.14
