I'm getting a bit frustrated. I've cut my carbs back to 20-30% and calories to 1400-1500, and I'm walking 30-60 min/day. No idea why it's so slow, other than I was 145-150 for years way back when.
Are you getting closer to your ideal body weight?
That depends on whose idea of ideal I use, but I would be giddy with 135 and happy with 140, so yes, I'm close. I'm sure that's part of it, but I thought almost a year of eating more calories to reset my metabolism would make these last 10 or so pounds less grueling. Sigh. Otoh, it beats gaining!4 -
Yay new round!
Historical Start weight: 252 lb.
End weight Rnd 24: 225.6
End weight Rnd 25: 221.6
End weight Rnd 26: ? (No scale during holidays)
Day/Weight/Comment
12/29- ? - still at home without my scale, still don't know weigh but pants still fit.
12/30 - ? - no scale, still at home
12/31 - ? - no scale, still at home
1/1 - ? - no scale, still at home
1/2 - 227.8 - moment of truth after 9 days at my parent's house with all the old habits that got me where I was, so naturally it's no shocker I'm up basically 9 pounds over the holidays (it's like a pound per day 0.0) but I didn't do much activity and didn't eat well so I'm not surprised. Some is likely water retention and honestly I'm not really bothered because I had a good time and I'm back in the city where I can go back to my usual routine. No regrets, I had an excellent holiday, now back to work.
1/3 - loss - What I like about this thread: posting everyday keeps me accountable and motivated and honestly I think is one reason I've been successful (holidays excluded). What effects me in a less than awesome way: people judging my weight loss. Solution: until I can get over myself, I'll just post a gain or loss in relation to the last day. Staying in the right mindset is important to this journey, actual weight will be posted when it makes sense for me.
1/4 - loss - eating is within bounds but I've been so busy at work that I've been working through lunch, I miss my lunch walks, hopefully next week will be better. In the mantjme I will fucus on what I can do and keep my good intentions.

12/29: 162.5 I feel very dehydrated this morning. Got a good run in yesterday, decent amount of water, too. But then I fell into a bad habit of snacking last night before bed. Not feeling optimistic today; I should go exercise now.
12/30: 162.4 Better than a gain... I did start up with my weights again yesterday; I am so sore today! Started to track, but lost momentum after going out to lunch with my daughter. Going to try again today. Lots of water, too.
12/31: 163.3
1/1: 161.9 Happy New Year! My daughter made a delicious vegan butternut squash soup last night. Coconut milk instead of cream. Leftovers today.
1/2: 162.2 Up and down... have a feeling it will be this way for awhile until I settle into my routine again. We took the tree down yesterday. DH and my kids still have another week off, but I go back to work today.
1/3: 162.1 Good run on the treadmill last night; still getting into the chocolate in the evenings, though... have been toying with the idea of doing a cleanse.

A New Year's gift from my scale, completely undeserved. I was 158.5 on 12/28 so I'm not too proud of the last few days. I'm not through with the risky season because my birthday is coming up, but although I've been overeating at least I'm more or less maintaining. Thanks for the shout-out and nudge quiltingjaine I don't really have treats at home, it's at work that I do the most damage. Then I come home and overeat things like Ezekiel bread and almond cheese, lol.
01/02: Forgot to weigh
Oops. Having a good day, though.
01/03: 158.5
Rewarded for two days of eating better. Went over calories a bit today, though. 3rd day no added sugar.
01/04: 158.5
Holding steady. Doing well with food, not so much with exercise.5 -
One of my resolutions this year was to read more books, so last night, after not stepping foot in a library for over a year, I went to the library and took out some books. Now I just have to start reading them
Have you tried audiobooks? I felt like I had lost part of myself when my boys were younger and I just didn't have time to sit down with a book for fear of someone burning down the house. A friend recommended audiobooks and I haven't looked back. They're older now but I still use them so I can multitask while im cleaning, driving, I even have days where I'm totally on my own at work I can listen. I get through up to 6 books a month.
I have an Audible subscription but can also sign download books from the library.2 -

I have Audible as well, but there's something about curling up in bed, especially during the winter, with a good book in my hand. I only use audiobooks when I exercise outside. I find it helps me exercise more because even when the weather isn't that great I know that I can only listen to the book if I do exercise.1 -

I was going to give this a rest, but thought better of it. Lol! I need the discipline after December. Not weighing was a big mistake over the holidays.
Long-term Focus: In the normal range for my age height and build, on maintenance.
December was a very indulgent month. This round, I am focused on losing my holiday baggage.
I HAVE the power and determination to do this.
Primary Goal - 160lbs +/- 2lbs. 1lb per round.
to all the Newbies, and Hi to those returning for another Round. This has given me a motivational element of daily accountability.
Observations, and Previous RoundsMany events along the way will scupper our best intentions, but they merely delay the achievement of our goals. Life is for living, and one must learn patience. It takes many years to put on excess weight, so It follows that it takes much time to remove, but it does come off, bit by stubborn bit! If you stick with it! The game continues!
A lot of people get upset by apparent weight gain when they have been working their butts off. Body weight fluctuates, both up, and down, from one day to the next depending on so many factors. From my experience:- Changes often take several days to show on the scale.
- A drop is often followed by a bounce up before it settles back down. A general downward trend is the aim.
- A high sodium day usually results in a gain due to water retention, unless you drink extra fluids to flush it out.
If you are making positive lifestyle changes it will lead to increased health and fitness.
Slow and steady leads to sustainable weight loss.
But remember to live a little along the way!

1/4 - 64.6kg - Yay! For a little context, I was 62.6kg at the beginning of December and 63.9kg at the start of Round 26 so this really is just my weight leveling back out after the holidays.
1/5 - 64.2kg - Yesterday was TOUGH. Ended up going slightly over my calorie goal but stayed under maintenance. Happy to see another small drop on the scale. Now for the last 200g by Sunday!
