I remind myself every time I want to make a bad food choice that I am worth so much more! Also, that one small piece of something not good for me will not derail my entire journey so don’t give up because I made a bad choice!11

Adopting a whole foods plant based lifestyle (no meat, soy, dairy, oils, white flour or refined sugars) I really don't miss that stuff. Dropped 4 pounds since Jan 1st and haven't hit the gym once. (going tomorrow ;D)7

Doing something positive each day. A lot of my exercise is biking. 6000 miles in 20 months. Winter time - try to get to the wellness center every day I work. Today wasn't feeling it as very sore from yesterdays fitness class so went and walked the skywalks for 40 minutes rather than skipping it entirely.8

I started walking. At first it wasn't very far and not daily, but now I do 8-10,000 steps nearly every day all year long, and this has led to all kinds of activities for fitness and gun.11

By drinking a glass of water before every meal.4

Cut out all sugary drinks. Water and coffee is my go to anymore for the past 2 years. Definitely more conscious of what i eat now and read labels to.3

Just keeping track of my food on here ...only been on 4 days but its a massive difference8

I cut out soda and sweet tea. Haven’t had a soda or sweet tea in almost a year. To me it’s just wasted calories I could be eating instead of drinking since high sugar foods tend to be high calorie.6

Growing up I never ate breakfast bc I wasn’t hungry until lunch time and I was always thin. Well after I had my first child 11 years ago I never lost my baby weight. I forced myself to eat breakfast bc “it was the most important meal of the day and it jump started your metabolism” (so I read). I ALWAYS want a bedtime snack and NEVER had enough calories to eat anything satisfying. I eventually would get frustrated and binge snack and then give up. The past two weeks I’ve only eaten breakfast if I’m hungry for it. Most days I just have my coffee. This leaves me a fair amount of calories for my bedtime snack, I’m not feeling deprived in any way and the scale is moving in the right direction! I usually end up even a tad under my calories! I don’t know why it took 11 years for this one obvious thing to click with me!!37

I'm not hungry in the mornings. So I have breakfast around 12, lunch at 2, and then dinner around 6. Seems to be working well for me

Changing the way i think about food. I want what goes into my body to be beneficial. Not something that tastes good in the moment that's unhealthy as heck, but somethings that tastes good and is good. Also, that I'm not a dog and I don't have to treat myself to crap food every time I either lose a pound or completed a gym class.7

Team food scales! Also bought a water bottle and pushing myself to drink 3ltrs a day, prepping meals and weighing everything. Down over 20lbs since boxing day!7

logging what I eat & drink daily and cutting soda out of my diet completely. Its really made a huge difference to my weight loss efforts and my health.2

Replaced diet soda and sweet teas with water and green tea. Reduced rice intake, going against cultural eating norms (rice is a staple) and aiming to eventually eliminate it entirely. Replaced vegging out in front of the tv to doing at least 20 minutes of dancing each day.4

Logging what I eat and trying to stay within my calorie allowances - it has been eye opening.
I've also had a goal to try and hit 2 hours of total workout time in a week - even if at 10 minute workout increments.
My next small change I want to make - not drinking on regular weeknights, saving it for weekends/special occasions.7 -
Instead of eating cookies and ice cream at night while watching TV, I make a cup of green tea (decaf!) and eat small tangerine. It turns out I didn't need the cookies or ice cream...I really just wanted something a little sweet to eat. It was almost like putting food in mouth was a habit. The tea satisfies my craving for something soothing in my hands as I watch TV. Also, the 60 calorie sugar-free Jello pudding cups have been a life-saver, too, for post dinner sweet cravings.11

My most recent small change is to order water instead if pop or liquor when eating out, and developing a habit of drinking herbal tea (no sugar) at work and at home instead of lemonade.
Another small change is to take a few flights of stairs up whenever I need to use the restroom at work. Gets that heart pumping.8 -

Made a firm decision to stop measuring progress by pounds lost and instead focus on no. of days I care for my body by feeding it nutritious food25

The first and most important change that really helped me is constantly checking my iron and vitamin d level and making sure it is alright.
Other changes:
* Ordering water instead of juices or coke or diet coke or anything when they ask me "and what about drinks?" in restaurants
* Sharing food always whenever possible especially while travelling and trying new food
* When I go grocery shopping I never buy anything unhealthy to enter my apartment; only veggies, protein, tea and coffee, and other healthy food. For example, If I go out to eat, then I may eat pasta when I feel like indulging but I never buy the ingredients of pasta, that would be a deliberate sabotage with intention
* Drinking lots of unsweetened tea (decaf in the evening) it really helped with my snacking habit
* Walking whenever is possible. Always suggesting walking instead of the metro to my friends
* Trekking and walking holidays
* Doing things moderately. It is okay if I add carrots to my stew or if I had grilled potato from time to time. Whole wheat occasionally. Doing this made me able to stick longer to my healthy eating habits and I was able to lose weight slowly with time. Strict diets only made me crave things and crash and over-eat.5 -
changed mayo for greek plain yougourt with a bit of horseradish...really good in a chicken wrap!10

Deliberately incorporated walking (uphill, too) in my commute by picking my route and getting off the bus early. Overall I get 9 - 10 000 steps or so only from the commute, if I don't do any walking at lunch (and I normally do). This takes me right up there in lightly active despite my sedentary desk job.
My history shows that I just can't sustain (read: really really hate) eating below a certain threshold, so the moment I slacken with exercise my deficit gets smaller, and I won't go hungry to maintain it. Now the exercise is built right into my day and I can eat enough to stay sane and lose weight.
All this just from getting my kitten off the bus at a strategically chosen spot.17 -

A big one for me too. Breakfast is actually a health sabotaged for me because this are calories I’m happy to forego, and only left me hungrier than when I started.10 -

i think that buying groceries did it for me. i mean, i sort of bought groceries before i was lifting but once i began to do that the whole question of food became urgent in a new way.
i buy groceries most of the time, and then i cook them. and then, the really big one: i eat what i cook instead of just winging it.3
