Felt so damn good this morning I had to run another 90 second interval and kicked up the mph another .5. I loved how that felt, even though I was out of breath! And that led to spontaneous smiling and tears; I suppose because it just feels so good to *finally* DO what I've wanted to DO and not spend my life sitting on the couch surfing Facebook feeling envious of everyone else. No one can stop me now! Have a great day everyone!

A little tricky on the schedule fitting in 5.5 before work. Made for an earrrrrrly morning and limited snooze button attempts. Sidewalks were much better today, but still had to do some stop/start for spikes on/off. They are cheapies from Costco, so not sure if running on bare concrete is good for them. Gonna grab a few extra pairs to make sure I get through winter. Next year I'll see about investing in fancier ones.
Tomorrow is "track workout," so I'll run/recover laps at the park (a .33 mile loop) according to plan. Thursday and Friday I'm in LA with hubby. I have an early meeting Thursday, so will probably treadmill in the gym for the scheduled shorter run (3 miles), but Friday AM I hope to hit a beach path, or even better some of the mountainy/hilly things near Santa Monica. We'll see if the schedule allows. It would be great to get my long run in on a trail, since the weather will probably prohibit it in CO this weekend. Plus, a very busy weekend planned with Boy Scouts means getting the long run in on Friday will stress me out way less AND I can do my cross training on Saturday AM at the Y (new BodyPump release, I guess that's a thing?). Me and my measly biceps just do our best!

Well I was scheduled to run 5 miles. 4.5 miles in it started to rain. I ended up running all the way back to the gym instead of stopping at 5 miles. The rain wouldn’t have been bad except for the wind! It was making the rain pelt my face! At least it wasn’t cold.

Runkeeper just sent me this... I started half marathon training at the end of March last year. I know I have more miles than they report because it doesn’t have any of my treadmill runs on there. Still it’s kinda cool.

Do you have a Premium? Nice overview and your mileage is awesome.0 -
Anyone know about raising money for charity... I'm thinking about raising money to help support one of my paras, who just got diagnosed with cancer. figure with 4 big races this year and the training for it, I could help out by setting up some sort of fund drive along with it.1

Working from home today, I saw the sun had come out and checked the temp on my phone and it said 51 degrees. Awesome! I changed and went out for a short run. Immediately I felt the wind picking up and could see the dark clouds in the distance. By the time I was about a mile in, the winds were tough it was pelting me with debris and some rain. Fortunately it stayed with only light rain and on the way back the wind was behind me, but I was glad to get back home. Now it says 39 degrees (and is headed down to 20s). I think I misjudged my window a little bit - should have been out 30 minutes earlier. Oh well, it's done.

I have 6 easy miles on tap for this evening. It's 36 degrees, windy and raining. I find this to be among the most unpleasant running weather. I am trying to decide if it's worth hitting the dreadmill. Either way, I am not looking forward to this run.6

Tried out the hamstring with an easy 4 mi road run after getting beat up by my PT yesterday. She suspects that I might have a fallen cuboid bone on my foot and did some weird procedure to get it back in place. Apparently it is really rare, and she called the other PT over to feel my foot. The run didn't go too badly. I might try some hills tomorrow so we'll see if that goes OK too. Been foam rolling like a fiend all week.

You know how they say a bad day fishing still better than being at the office? Well, today's run was just about that! LOL.
I was tired before I started. The temp was falling, it was raining, and 15 mph winds. But I went anyways. I did put the hot toes on my socks. PRO-TIP: If you put them on backwards they actually cover more of your toes I am not convinced they are as warm as the handwarmers but they worked for today at least. More experimentation needed.
I felt like I was going incredibly slow, I figured I would have an 11 min pace or something when I got home, but looks like I hit 9:33, which is not as fast as I would like to be at that distance, but a far cry from 11.
Strangly.. I did no see any other runners out. but I did almost get hit by someone reading a cell phone screen. Ah well. I saw them and was able to dodge succesfully.

@MobyCarp congrats on the award and check, but an even bigger congrats on the quad progress
@rheddmobile the nature encounter sounds very cool!
@_nikkiwolf_ once a shoe is screwed you wouldn't want to use them on pavement, but the shoe can be unscrewed and use normally. Use screw shoes on pavement is so much uncomfortable as it is annoyingly noisy. It's rare I use screw shoes. In my first two winters I used them maybe 3 or 4 times. I used them last night for the first time this winter but I don't think I needed to.

January goal: 75 miles
1/3 - 4.4 miles
1/4 - 4.1 miles
1/5 - 4.1 miles
1/7 - 9.1 miles
1/9 - 4.3 miles
1/10 - 4.3 miles
1/12 - 4.0 miles
1/14 - 9.5 miles
1/17 - 4.0 miles
1/20 - 4.6 miles
1/21 - 9. 5 miles
1/23 - 3.1 miles (intervals)
65/ 75 miles completed
I finally came up with a HM training plan using the advice I have learned here and modifying a few plans I have seen online, so my HM training has officially begun. I also did some interval training today for the first time in a while. I hope the training plan is good, but honestly as long as I can completed the distance I'll be happy.
