Hello all! It is Friday! The kids are napping! ALL of them! Whew! And I have finished my salad (spinach, romaine, cukes, feta(1 oz), black olives (about 1T sliced), home made lemon vinaigrette drsng. 1 cup of cottage cheese on the side for protein. I have five pounds of chicken in the crock pot that will be shredded for meals this upcoming week. Still hungry. I have logged my dinner for tonight and I still have room for 300 calories. Maybe I will pop a little two oz potato in the micro and add some zucchini? Maybe I will just drink some water and have some tea, for now? Yeah.
Katie-try not to stress about the dermatologist. Maybe just need more tissue?
Pip- WAs a bit startled at the injury pics; but then the one of Kirby looked familiar. Glad they are past injuries and you are both well! Your shoulder, though! Ouch!
wessecg- I remember you and your horses! Can't remember your name, though! Sorry! Anyway, what is a smutty buckskin? lol I am sure it is a horse, but it sounds a little naughty to me.
Heather and Kate- I have a local Brit friend whose family lives in Chepstow. Why does this sound familiar? Is it a town close to either of you and that is why I have heard of it? Perhaps Machka has biked or ran through at some point in time?
Terry- Beautiful, beautiful jewelry! You are very talented, my friend!
Heather-Congrats on the 20 minute run! I hope you did a very Rocky-esque dance at the end! I am watching you and your formerly misbehaving knee very carefully as I nurse my knee back on track!
Michelle- You asked me a question and I can't remember what it was! I will have to search back a bit and find your post...get back to you later!
Speaking of my knee: I was in the bathroom with my little girls this morning and I reached for something and my swollen sore knee POPPED! It was an audible pop! But after that happened and since (all day so far) my knee has felt enormously better! I haven't taken my support brace off, but I would be willing to bet the big swollen spot is not swollen any more. My knee actually feels like it can hold my weight. Maybe I should be doing some easy yoga? Very interesting.
ANYWAY...already told DH and DYS that I am not cooking tonight, so they are on their own for dinner. I guess I am technically alcohol free as I have not had a drink in three weeks! Sounds REALLY good though. If I don't buy it, there won't be any in the house as DH no longer drinks and DYS prefers whiskey and rum and those are not my beverage of choice at any time.
DD called late last night and was hit from behind as she was driving home from work. Then the guy fled the scene. She was not hurt. Minor damage to the car. But she called the police to file a report and had to wait 3 1/2 hours on the highway for them to come. CRAZY!! Anyway, the cost of repairs has chucked her plans to visit in March! Sad grandma time. She is planning to come in the summer, though. Oh well, Joaquin will be a little older and maybe a little more ready to venture into the big lake! Life goes on.

Cathy- CUTE, cute dress! I love the shoes, too! Always fun to find bargains! You are going to be the hottest woman in San Juan!!
Suebdew-Did I tell you your hair looks awesome?! It does!2 -
Hi all - Went to OrthoMD yesterday - wrist broken, like I thought, black eye isn't quite as swollen; both still hurt like a sum-o-beach. Being in splint and sling is very confining. Louis and I had a screaming match last night. Not only was he upset that Trey had to drive me to and home from MD's office which basically meant about 1 1/2 hour without him working. DBnL has flu-like symptoms (which is his self diagnosis) so he can't come to work. He'll play that throughout this week and probably well into next week. His granddaughter called Trey on Tuesday, really upset about how bad he sounds on phone and him not going to MD. He really sounded like someone calling in sick and sounding like a baby trying to make an excuse, like that commercial on TV. They've been taking the newspaper daily and putting it out on the stoop and talking to him daily. She wants him to go to MD and he told her that he is a grown man and he would not listen to him. Maybe he would listen to his medical school grandson-in-law; but not to Louis or Trey. He'd wait until it would become sick enough to need an ambulance. I knew when Louis walked in, he was in a pissy mood. Not being able to open anything, not able to twist the caps off, or lift things had me in a pissy mood, too. Several months ago, I broke my middle nail, so far back in the quick, I had to keep it bandaged, just to protect the tender exposed skin. It is still growing out at 2 different lengths and still tender and rough. Trying to keep it cut short and tolerate the pain when cutting it off, I got into bed and went to pull back the covers and pulled fitted sheet and caught my nail on a string and screamed. He kept trying to pull sheet back and I was screaming that he needed to unhook my nail from the thread. He let out a string of obscenities and called me 'stupid'. I can tolerate the bad language; but, I am NOT stupid. This morning he apologized for being a jerk. I told him that he was an @$$-O. He agreed and apologized again. I hate arguing with him, when I know his pissy mood is not my fault. Suzanne called and said preacher wanted to see me, at least, 2 more times and will waive his fee. Louis does not understand me going in thee first place; but, it was a release of many years of pent-up anger. I really had not known how it has affected me. I knew that Louis was not really going to be on board. He is such a private person and doesn't believe in sharing things that trouble him. I need to sometimes release my pent up anger or it comes out in a negative way.
Then Emilee told her Daddy that her one of her teachers went home with flu-like symptoms and their classroom had not been sanitized. If she gets it, it will work its way through all of us. Never fails. They had extended Christmas break, because so many students had come down with the flu. Guess we'll see.
Typing with only a few fingers is tiring, so I'll probably only be reading posts. Have not been on in a couple of days because I could not even pick up my laptop. Still has been difficult as it is.

Becca, I like grape halves in my chicken salad.
Kate, glad your DD was fine except for the ulcer and al she needs is antacids.
Wessecg, what beautiful horses (and you look good too-lol)
((Drkatiebug))
Clowe1028, Love the dress and sandals. Looks perfect for your trip.
Kelly, YEAH on the knee and alcohol! I just priced the jump rings for making the necklace and it will cost $140 for the rings. Clasp won’t be too much. I’ll time making it so that I will know what to charge. I’ll look for cheaper rings but I really like the woman I buy from so will probably go with her. Sterling silver is so expensive these days.
((Lenora))
Well going to pack up and get ready to go home from work. Hope everyone had a good day.

Kay ~ So hoping you will get good results when you call the dr. I have had several times when they had to cut tissue due to pre-cancerous cells....all that sun over my whole life.
Lenora ~ Guess I missed something. How did you get a broken wrist and a black eye? So sorry.
Terry ~ Love all the earrings and the necklace. They should do well for you.
Becca ~ Sounds like you have a plan.
Michele ~ Hope you get some warmer weather in Florida.
Had lunch with my two girl friends today and ate too much but enjoyed the company. Haven't been out of the house much at all hoping to avoid the flu.

Well shopping went well, though I didn't get all the wishes on my list. I am having a sandwich with multi grain bread, brie, tomato slices, and cucumber slices! Didn't get some of the protein I wanted but did get the large container of pink grapefruit all segmented, and glorious! Its $10 for the container, and its a treat most definitely! I have it in the morning, and why do I blow on my spoon when I take a bite???? Do you catch yourself doing that?? So mental!
Lenora.... So sorry about your ailments! Sending healthy thoughts you don't get the flu!!! Well, know even though we don't hear from you as often as you can log in, know our thoughts are with ya!!!
Its almost 2pm, and my Brie has rested enough. Sandwich making time!
My husband is making a chocolate shake...Aack! I bought 2 mint patties and cut them up to last awhile. Put them in the frig to be nice and cold. That was my treat for the week.
My grocery bill came to $109, and I had planned for $119. I bought 47 items. My coupons, both digital and handheld, came to a savings of $16.34 12% of my bill. Woohoo! I rock!

Now I remember! Michelle- I could probably do a flutter kick, but not a whip kick while swimming. It is the always changing currents in the pool that move my knee in the water and pull at the muscle or ligament that wraps my knee. I am thinking a therapy pool, though my least favorite temp of water, might be my best bet for knee therapy right now.2

This just kind of resonated with me today.
Love you ladies

The jewelry in the picture is “hardware” jewelry made from items found in a hardware store. If you look close you will see screws and washers. I sold quite a lot at a couple of craft shows. They were fun.5 -
Hello,
I am getting so excited about the cruise. 8 days left before the flight to San Juan.
I met my goal for January, which was to fit into this dress. I ordered it from Thred Up and it was a little tight through the hips when it arrived. I haven’t worn a dress in 10 years. The last time was on the last cruise I was on.
I like that dress!!

Well done on the 7lb loss! Do you have a goal in mind? [/quote]
Well, I am at 188 pounds now. I need to get to 140 so another 48 pounds to go. Seems like a lot but at 4 pounds a month goal, should be there by January 2019.
One month at a time!

Terry, I went back and looked at the page that had all your pictures. I remember seeing hardwearables but it didnt hit me what they were made of. Now I see it. How resourceful!
Had my second occupational therapy today. My grip strength went from 25 to 35! She was so proud of me. She gave me a bank to do some new exercises. I can now put my seat belt on if I am the passenger but I cant take it off. I just use my right hand. I can see that Mozart is enjoying my band that I put on the door knob to my hall closet.
My iPad will not accept a charge at all so I am using my lap top and oh the typos I am having. Plus I am typing with numb fingers on my left hand.
I talked to Christina this afternoon and Trinity is going to try to make appointments to do college tours during spring break! NOOOOOOOOOO! My baby was only born just the other day. How can she be that old? Plus I know what happened the first day of college for Christina. She saw a guy and looked at me and said Mom I am going to marry that man. And she did. And then she had kids. My baby is just 17. Grandma is not ready for her to meet the man of her dreams and then get married and have two children, one of them thinking of college.
Nothing happening here except the fact it has not been over 25 all day long and that makes me hurt more.
Love you all, Joyce Indiana

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening Friends,
I have been reading all that I can. I’m so sorry to hear of all the sadness and struggles that some of you have been through. I’m happy to hear that some of you have had successes. I am eating better and exercising “some” but it seems that I lose 5 pounds and it reappears. And so it goes.
I’ve been staying busy with the Moose events. I was there for door duty last night and will be there tomorrow for Orientation. I hope some of the new members will attend. Then Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday of next week for different meetings and events. That is an unusual week of activities.
DD who moved in with us after returning from Oregon in May has decided it's time to get her own place. I think we are all ready and I just hope it's not a financial mistake. She will actually be very close to us so she might bring her dog over every day for us to do "doggy daycare" while she is at work. She works 10 hour days so that's a long time for him to be inside alone.
Please know I think of you all often and wish the best for every one of you.
to all the Newbies. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
Sending love, good thoughts and sunshine to all of you.
I Love you

Did 1 hr on the stairstepper. This new gym is VERY clean. The bad thing is that they don't have a bathroom where the cardio equipment is. But then again, neither did the one Y that I used to go to (where I still take the water class). The plan for tomorrow is to do Cathe Friedrich's Travel Fit DVD. For some reason, that is one of the ones that won't play on my laptop.
Vince called me at 9:30 this morning "are you going to mahjongg? We need to give Adra the projector". It's not like he didn't have a few weeks to do this. So there was me, after going to Aldi (first exercise, then stopped at the Salvation Army, home to put away the refrigerated items) running up to another gal's home to give her the projector to give to Adra. She and her hubby are coming down to FL to watch the launch so we decided that since we're leaving on Mon and it's set to go off around 1:30 on Tues, they are going to leave Hickory around 5 in the morning to get there around 10. Vince doesn't want to leave on Sun "in case we have car trouble, there won't be any mechanic working". Then he wanted to bring the cat carriers "in case we have car trouble". I told him "if we do, we put them in my car, what's the big deal?" Finally, I told him "that'll take up a lot of room, do you have any idea how stressed the cats would be if you suddenly put them in the carrier. Even when we go to the vet we don't put them in a carrier". Finally, he agreed to not bring them "but if we have a problem, I'll be saying 'told you so' " Honestly, lately he's getting so overly worried about things. Guess it's just me, I believe not to worry about something until there's something to worry about. I doubt we'd have car trouble. Does he have any idea what it's going to be like for me? I'll have to rush to get things in the house like milk etc. And the store doesn't open until 9. Honestly!
You know, when I go to the soup kitchen, I usually look at what they have to give away food-wise. I'm amazed at how much bread/rolls/etc there are. Not much in the way of veges. What they do have is usually overly ripe -- like the avacados.
I love to hear "see you next year" from the doctor. I remember once I had to go back since my sinuses were REALLY acting up, I knew that I needed an antibiotic. The doc knew that I very seldom go there except for my annual physical so he says to me "what are you doing here?"
M - when you're cycling, do you wear the clip on shoes? Beautiful pics, especially the one of the rays off the ring
Rachel - Welcome to a wonderful group. You certainly don't look 50, are you SURE? I am one of the most unflexible people on the planet. Always have been. We look forward to getting to know you so much better.
Sue - when Vince had his tibial plateau fracture, the PT that he was taking was the exact same PT that people who had knee replacement took. Yes, it did hurt. As a matter of fact, the first time they came to give him the PT he literally screamed in pain. Their answer? They closed the door to his room....lol But today he has great range of motion.
Terry in VT - lovely, lovely necklace. Wow! Look at those earrings!
pip - I still get a sick feeling in my stomach when I see those pics. You and Kirby sure are two very strong people
Katie - so sorry to hear the news. Let's hope for the best, but you are probably unfortunely right
clowe - beautiful dress. Great find on those sandals
KJ - the last question I asked on here was if anyone has ever used those coffee pods that you get at a hotel (that make one cup) in a coffee pot. Could that have been it?
Lenora - so good to hear from you but sorry about the broken wrist and your eye. Your nail - OUCH!
Carol - I, too, missed how Lenora got a broken wrist and black eye, so you're not alone

Awhile ago, someone talked about a plan of doing wall or counter top pushups 10 at a time several times during the day. I remembered that yesterday and decided that I would add that to my day. Planning to do it is easy. Remembering will be the hard part.

Hello ~
This is my first full month as I joined your lovely, supportive group just Jan. 30th.
Feb. Goals:- Eat 2/3 meals per day vegan
- Exercise 5 X week (3 classes and 2 high-volume walking days)
- Lose 1.33 pounds/week on average this month
- Minimum 5,000 steps per day (I'm just getting over pneumonia and the temps in TO are -14 to -24 degrees celsius (= 7 to -11 degrees Fahrenheit)
- Pneumonia + Minus temps = Wimp
Thank you for welcoming me late last month.
Here, here for the best February for all of us!!
Theresa in Toronto (and I hope Turks & Caicos this month - cross your fingers for me)4 -
Woke up with a runny nose, scratchy throat. Added lemon zest and cayenne to am tea, all better now. Thanks Anna from T'ai Chi for the recipe and the home grown lemon!
Knees, grr. Last night my left knee wanted to play tricks at line dancing. Tried doing just one more dance and that worked for awhile, then it gave out and I nearly fell. Changed shoes, got ready to leave while class continued, but they played a song I really like so danced in my street shoes with no knee pain. Now what the heck is with THAT? last night and this morning after meditation did two of the knee exercises from long ago. Time to build a daily habit, chain to meditation.
Annieguz sitting in traffic 2 hrs/day? Yuck! Do you do shoulder stretches to keep the road rage down? :}
Becca love "eat like a healthy person" may copycat you. Dang, you are cute! 3 cats in a box made me smile BIG.
Pam in WA, Welcome! Zumba 5 days/week, class or DVD?
Wendy Super blue blood moon hospital weirdness indeed. Cannot imagine waiting for surgery in a hallway. ;{
Sharon "Hudson Bay Store" hahahaha ! The image in my mind was of the SF Bay when it was like silk. Loved the bunch of bananas idea, maybe it can be your parting gift... with a snap of him as the "top banana". What a jerk.
Welcome Ann. "hard time getting motivated" me too sometimes. The gals on this thread are the most motivating.
Kelly love "less in body, more in spirit"...at first I mistyped "less in booty" which is true too. So jealous of your therapy pool, I loved the one back in Idaho.
cowgirl and CC, welcome
Cheryl so very sorry for the loss of your horse, what a horrible thing to happen.
Allie I can just see Alfie watching "Puppy Bowl" So glad you have this joy in the midst of all the sadness.
Sue in WA ((hugs)). Sorry for your losses and that your DH is not taking good care of himself. Terry is right, PT it is crucial for good knee surgery results. Belated Best Birthday wishes. Hope you can pamper yourself a little. New puppy kisses are good medicine for aching hearts.
Diana in TN welcome. Any hints on the hula hoop would be welcome. I could do it as a kid but can NOT get it to stay up now.
Martha welcome back! You've got this.
Rachel Welcome. Good for you for working with a trainer, logging in mfp, moving in new ways. It's bound to have good effect.
Amy in Az welcome. That's impressive lifting in just a few months. Wow!
pip OMG what happened? Lanette mentioned accident, it must have been a doozy?
Kate Grateful your DD's ulcer can be treated with antacids. . . tho' it seems odd to be grateful for an ulcer
DrKatybug When I had Mohs (on my face) I was back to work the next day. Looked like a pirate that had been beaten in a barroom brawl, but was able to work. Hope you'll be able to continue walking, strength etc. Even better would be a benign result from additional samples...
cathy Beautiful cruise dress!
Lenora glad to hear from you even though you've been struggling. How did you break your wrist?
Janetr "filling our cups..." well said!
Theresa You are not a wimp! Recovering from pneumonia always takes longer than you want. Take it easy and keep warm until you are completely well. Relapses stink.
Blew the max 20 mins per pc session . . . again.
Mindful hugs to all,
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD.6 -
Finished reading, will find the energy to post tomorrow. Energy is really low at this time of year. Need to up my D3 and get back to taking B12 and just push myself to move more.
