Diet coke for me.
This is correct.1 -
Unless I’m adding Bacardi, I’d rather drink diet root beer. Satisfies my sweet tooth every time.0

The girl I work with drinks it all the time. She's low-carbing too. I stick with water most of the time. BUTTT I think I will adopt her trick of using it as a drink mixer on the weekends so that I can stay on plan and still enjoy a drinky-drink with the hubs! XD0

It's a great mixer. I also enjoy the new flavored Diet Cokes as mixers -- the mango is my favorite.0 -

Nope.AnotherPlate wrote: »You can drink it, sure, but i wouldn't say i'll make it a regular thing in my diet because It's a nonsense drink at the end of the day. It does absolutely nothing for my body but please my taste buds.
It's like 95-98% water so it does help hydrate you just like tea, coffee, fruit and a lot of veggies.
It's tasty yes but comparing coke zero to fruit and vegetables is just silly.6 -

Nobody compared them in every quality, they were compared for a specific quality (containing water).8 -
I miss the OG coke zero. Zero Sugar tastes differently.0

I'm really not sure what you are arguing about.
Fruits and veg ARE hydrating -- do you deny that?
Soda is also hydrating.
They are both sources of hydration that are not water. No one said that soda is a good substitute for vegetables. You can't seriously think that was the intent of the comment, right?7 -
Can't wait until the next thread where it's said that people at MFP say you should drink soda instead of eating vegetables.
(Which obviously was not said.)6 -

Comparing Coke Zero and paint is way more ridiculous than comparing the hydrating properties of Coke Zero to the hydrating properties of fruits and vegetables.
Are you denying that our bodies can use the water in Coke Zero to help meet our overall need for hydration?

Hey, it's working for me!
It's 1,000% healthier than drinking paint, so you've got that going for you too.4 -

good call - I'm a double winner!
er, I mean, 1000% huh? Do you have a study to support that number?1 -

Only in a world where people eat Tide Pods would a statement like this even be made seriously.6 -

Let's see what scientific research has to say on the topic:

I'm no paint expert, but I'm gonna guess that 12 oz of Coke Zero has a lot more water than 12 oz of paint. So Coke Zero wins. Did I win science?8

And I wooed you.1 -
I drink a ton of coke zero and coffee. I basically only purposely drink water in my evening tea. Even that isn't just a straight glass of water. My pee is basically clear. Hydrated.3
-
I drink one on the weekends or when I go out to say the movies or something much better than diet coke.0

It's certainly more pleasant than "Diet Coke".3

I’m offended!
Nah, my dad’s been drinking Diet Coke for over 20 years and to me it’s always tasted awful. I think that’s why it took me a good six months after starting here to switch from regular soda to diet...I thought they’d all be bad. But I say away from Diet Coke and Diet Dew. Everything else is fair game.1 -

Soda is great for degreasing things, bone mass loss, removing enamel from your teeth and altering your body PH. If your goal is health, then soda is on the cheat food list for sure.
When I worked at a liquor store, while in high school, a cockroach sipped the soda and grew inside the spigot of the fountain machine to the point where it got stuck. When I cleaned the spigot the cockroach fell out. It was huge, albino (bleached by the acid) and its shell was so thin that it popped on landing from a one foot fall. The bags holding the concentrate syrup, separate from the soda canister, had corrosive warning labels like those on the back of transportation trucks for chemicals. Think of the albino cockroach next time you take a swig of soda and wonder why your teeth feel grainy afterward.
I'll drink a canned stevia soda with pizza on a cheat day, but never from a fountain machine. Especially if the ice is top loaded, which then means the workers drop the bags on the floor in the back to loosen up the ice before pouring it in to the machine. Wet bags on dirty floors, shaken into the ice chest and served to everyone to enjoy. I'm definitely traumatized from that summer job...15 -

Well, since we're going for scaremongering and hyperbole, the Grand Canyon was formed by water. And have you ever seen what water will do to a piece of metal if left exposed to it for some time?
Dangerous stuff, that water.8
