I don't weigh in on the weekends (use the scale at work), but I'll just use yesterday's weight as my starting point this round. Since I always seem to have issues on Fridays and Saturdays, I have decided to eat at a deficit Sunday through Thursday and then eat at maintenance on Fridays and Saturdays (if needed). This seems to have been working for me so far, and has made the process much more sustainable.
2/18 - 267.2
I feel like I'm finally starting to develop a healthier relationship with food. I had spaghetti & meatballs from Olive Garden today (1,120 calories total--ouch!), but I still managed to stick to my calorie goal for the day. Rather than eating it all at once, I divided it in half so that I got two meals out of it. This may seem like a no-brainer to some people, but it was always so difficult for me to do this in the past. I always felt like I needed large portions in order to be satisfied, but now that my body is adjusting, I'm finding that's no longer true!

I know that I stayed within my calorie budget this weekend (I'm very meticulous about weighing and measuring everything), so I'm going to chalk this up to water retension. Not thrilled that the weekend is over, but it's much easier for me to stay on track during the work week, so...I guess there's that.

That's more like it. I'm down exactly 20 pounds since January 1st, and down 58.4 pounds overall! Worked a cupcake into my calorie budget today, but I almost immediately regretted it. I'm not used to all that extra sugar anymore, and it made me feel kinda gross. Oh, well...lesson learned!

No change today, but that's fine. I took the next two days off of work because tomorrow is my 40th birthday and I plan to have a 4-day meltdown. (Okay, not really.) Hubby offered to bake me a cake, and I'm trying to decide whether or not I want to take him up on the offer. Part of me remembers yesterday's cupcake debacle, but the other half is like, "Hey, it's your 40TH BIRTHDAY. Have some damn cake." We shall see!

Feels good to be eating at a deficit again after two days of eating at (or above) maintenance. I love that I finally feel like I have some semblance of control over my food intake, and that a couple of days of indulgence don't have to completely derail me.

Final day of a 4-day weekend. Have all of my food planned out for the day, so I should be set. I haven't had access to a scale since last Wednesday, so tomorrow will be the moment of truth.

02/17 / 240.6 / I was at this same weight last week, lots of fluctuations. Doing at least SOME exercise every day.
02/18 / 242.4/ Not unexpected. Like a fool, I made marshmallow treats with rice chex. Not a good plan. Remind me never to do that again! I'm on day 18 of exercising at least some every day. My eating right now is rocky. I've been hungry the past couple of days.

+1.2 lbs. Ate perfectly except high in sodium, 10,206 steps. Not a great start, but I'm staying optimistic, I know weight fluctuates.

-1 lb. Again, high in sodium, but I'm eating very clean today and drinking lots of water to make up for the last 2 days. 10,121 steps and 30 min. arms and abs.

No change. Ate clean and within my goals but only walked 6,000 steps. I took my measurements and in 2 weeks I've lost 1 in. in my chest, waist, and hips. And 1/2 in. in my calves.

I’m learning to “stop the bleeding” when I have a moment of “weakness” (I need to come up with another name for this… moments are normal). 02/17 = 208.6 (-0.6). Let the good times roll. Even when I have a “bad” day, I’m always at maintenance or under (215 over calorie goal last night). And the bad days are becoming few and far between. Being accountable every day seems to be the ingredient that has been missing for all these years. I’ve logged for long periods of time in the past, but this opportunity to “journal” has been lifechanging. Had a glass of wine and a small dessert last night, but felt in-control the whole time. Going to the gym today to lift weights and do some HIIT. Light lunch, and then dinner and a movie with my wife and a couple of friends. Going to try to make healthy choices (or at least portion control) tonight at dinner. I'll see where I'm at with calories and decide beforehand if I want a drink.
02/18 = 209.2 (+0.6). Lifted weights yesterday, but HIIT didn’t happen (Got a little lazy. I miss basketball!). Ate light for breakfast, but had a surprise poke bowl from my wife for lunch. Had plans for dinner and a movie with my wife and two of her friends, but apparently there was some miscommunication regarding the movie, so it ended up just being dinner. I ate pretty light, but the food was decadent, and I had a drink. I’m having dinner tonight at my parents, which will likely include at least a drink or two. I’ll be happy to escape this weekend at my starting weight. This really is a constant challenge, but it’s getting so much easier to make good choices (and stop my bad choices from going too far and completely derailing me). This feels like it’s working, even if my weight does not go down every single day.
02/19 = 207.4 (-1.8). I think this number is a little exaggerated because I slept in 2.5 hours longer than ususal, but I’m mostly just really happy. Ate super light for breakfast and lunch. Had a standing rib roast with twice-baked potatoes and two margaritas for dinner at my parents' place. Plus it was my brother’s (my mom’s dog) birthday, so also a cupcake and a scoop of ice cream. I’m pretty sure I overestimated everything calorie-wise, because I really try to err that way if I’m not sure what I’m taking in. If I weren’t calorie-counting I would have eaten 2-3 times as much as I did. Of course, I didn’t, and I was completely satisfied.
02/20 = 208.6 (+1.2). I didn't really believe my weigh-in yesterday, so I'm okay with this number (I am also -0.6 for the long weekend, which is fantastic!). I have a new nephew, but I managed to stay in control when we went out to eat with my in-laws. Went over with salt on the day (I think), but drank plenty of water. I'm going to the gym tonight with my wife to lift weights, and I WILL get my HIIT workout in. Two more days until basketball starts up again. I can't wait!!!
02/21 = 208.4 (-0.2). Yesterday was fine eating-wise, but I felt like I was getting sick last night (didn't go to the gym). I'm in bed now, sick. I know I'm supposed to drink lots of fluids, but I don't want anything. Basketball is tomorrow night. I really want to feel better. I HATE missing basketball.
02/22 = 209.4 (+1.0). I didn't want to post this number. This week is a reminder that things can go sideways for a million different reasons. I think yesterday's sickness was a little bit of a false alarm; it definitely was NOT the flu. I'm back at work today (mostly because I couldn't justify playing basketball if I didn't go to work). I really do feel better, though, even if I have some congestion. The "sideways" - wife brought me a sandwich last night, and I ate mindlessly (I also fear it was a salt bomb). I would have been fine with half a sandwich, but I ate all of it, plus half of my wife's. This is a pattern that has plagued me through our 14.5 year relationship. She didn't offer it to me this time (which is good), but I asked her for it, and she let me have it. Rather than beat myself up about it, however, I'm going to treat it as the reminder it is. This week is so far is a wash (very little exercise, but staying at or below maintenance calorie-wise so far), but I have 4 days left in this challenge, including 2 days of basketball (which always includes a full body weight workout at the gym). I'm going to finish this off strong, no matter what my weight says at the end.
02/23 = 208.4 (-1.0). Expected drop after a basketball day. I’m bouncing around a lot this challenge. Dinner last night was some beautiful salty concoction from my in-laws; I went a little heavy on the tortillas (2) and rice (probably shouldn’t have had both). Basketball was definitely a good idea; I’m feeling much better today. I’m definitely on the mend from my brief illness. Three more days in the challenge, but the weekend is almost upon me, so I’m going to try my best to keep myself focused and mindful. I still want to finish strong (effort, not necessarily results)!
02/24 = 209.0 (+0.6). I’m just riding this out, trying not to get upset that my weight is like a damn pogo stick this whole challenge. Had a surprise lunch out yesterday (poke, relatively healthy, but hard to gauge calorie-wise), and a planned dinner out (ate a bit more than I probably should have, and finished at 100 calories over maintenance). I weighed myself this morning, but I’m writing this late, so I’ve already gone to the gym to life weights, and I played basketball for 90 minutes or so. Besides getting hit hard in the face twice, I had a good day at basketball. All the games were close, I had to match up with a REALLY physical player, and my shot was “on.” Breakfast and lunch were totally under control, so I’ll just try to be really mindful tonight at dinner. An aside – I’m realizing that I probably don’t eat enough fruits or vegetables. My diet consists only of nutrient-dense foods (no crap, sugary foods, or empty-calorie snack foods), but I can still probably improve the quality of my diet by incorporating more fruits and vegetables. I’m going bowling later tonight after dinner out with my wife’s family. I feel like I’m all over the place today. Can you tell? But guess what! I’m feeling really good about myself right now. I haven’t reached all my goals, but I can see and feel my progress. One of my friends at basketball noticed that I’m looking better too!
02/25 = 210.6 (+1.6). Super slow in posting this (I work on Sundays, got a late start this morning, and HATE THIS NUMBER). I thought I did well yesterday, but there’s this number as a result. I’m a bit flummoxed (first time ever using that word). When I just spoke with my wife about how things have been going with my weight, she was quick to remind me that I have been eating out a lot more than usual recently (generally with her). I’m just gonna sit with this for a minute. At this point I just want to get back under 210 for the challenge. MEH.

And it’s most likely all the sodium’s. Every time I eat out I’ll gain weight immediately . And it’s even more upsetting that most of the time I’ll choose a protein and salad instead of my usual carb heavy meals. *sigh* hope this weight just drops off quickly then.

02/21- 97.4 - Had a family emergency and "thought" I needed time off from the scales. But here I am back for more mid-round, I was going to wait until next round but then i just thought "why? I need to face reality, not hide from it", so what a nice surprise to see this number this morning. Quitting is for suckers!
02/22 - 96.4....say WHAAT? stepped on the scale several times so i'll take it
02/23 - 96.2 OK so it wasn't a fluke! Even if it goes up, I just want to note that I havent been able to budge from100-98 for about 3 months now, so this is a good sign!

02/17 - 64.1kg - I've been sitting at this for a few days, hoping to see a shift this round down into the 63s...
02/18 - 64.7 kg (+0.8kg)- date night last night, high carb, high sodium dinner and no water!
02/19 - 64.3kg (-0.4kg) - Went over my calories but ate mindfully. Water was down as I was out of the house all day. Back to intermittent fasting this week working towards my mini-goal.
02/20 - 64.1kg (-0.2kg) - Grrrrrr. One day of being properly back on track and I haven't made goal weight yet. How infuriating Jokes aside, I was a little miffed not to be under 64kg. Maybe tomorrow?
02/21 - 63.9kg (-0.2kg) - Yay! I weighed myself twice this morning, who knows why (I do, I did a poo and I was curious, keep it real folks) and this is the higher of the two weigh-ins hahaha. Celebrating being back to a 63 number and still working hard for that mini-goal.
02/22 - 63.5kg (-0.4kg) - almost at my mini-goal. Very exciting times. I've got a big weekend of dining out and drinking so I am going to have to use all my smarts and willpower to get to 63.25 and stay there for Monday. Ending a round on a Monday seems extra harsh to me
02/23 - 63.9kg (+0.4kg) - Ugh. Under calories all week, got a walk in yesterday and have been drinking my 2L of water each day. Ate dinner at 9:30pm after getting in from an appointment so I assume it's just a big lump of food sitting in my tummy. On wards and downwards!

02/17 Out of town today, but yesterday was 166.4; I need strength today to keep away from all the stuff that my parents keep at their house—cookies, nuts, doughnuts, you name it. It’s here! Think I’ll go out for a long walk before they get up and before the rain begins again!
02/18 No access to scales this day either. Back to normal on Monday.
02/19 = 164.8 YAY!!! Below my original goal. Changing that goal now to 150 (normal BMI for me)

02/21 = 165.8 Food at dinner out last night tasted really salty even though I ordered well and ate within calories. This will pass.

02/20 182.8 Not too bad. I haven't worked out since Wednesday, but I'm home and back at it today. My goal is to track all my food and water intake for the rest of the month.
02/21 183.6 I don't like going back up, but yesterday, I jogged 3 miles without stopping, did chest and tris, tracked all of my food and ate back a few calories, and got in at least 8 cups of water, so it was a great day.
02/22 181.8 Tracked everything again, ate all of my calories, and tried to drink more water.
02/23 181.2 Ate too many carbs but tracked everything again. Made an effort to drink 8 cups of water- trying to get to 12 cups a day. Did 40 minutes of cardio and legs and ate back some of the calories. Glad it's Friday!

02/18 - 140.1lb!!! Carb heavy day yesterday and was in the arena from 7am till 9pm! Must try harder today...

Comp day 2 and another 14 hours but did actually get out the arena for an hour yesterday lunchtime so walked to a nearby cafe for soup and a roll at lunchtime and also tried to drink more water - bit of a walk and fresh air must have done me good! Back to reality today so no reason not to have a good week
02/20 - 138.20lb - bit of a "whoosh" I think yesterday and feel so much better for it today - less bloated mainlyl! Have all my food with me for the day and dinner is planned and ready to go when home from the gym tonight so all looking good.
02/21 - 137.30lb - hurrah! Long live the "whoosh" - or whatever it is that's going on this week! Like this round so far - and hopefully the progress this week will keep me motivated to stay on track for the rest of the week and when we go away at the weekend with the eldest and the grandkids. 2/17: 158 lbs: I took a HIIT Burn Carb Cycling quiz to boost my metabolism. I may try it out if my weight continues to maintain no matter what I do instead of losing any.
2/18: 158.2 lbs: Stayed within my calories but spent the day vegging and shopping. I loathe shopping, but my pants were HUGE and my underwear is falling off. Lol
2/19: 157.2 lbs: 2 oz. away from a 45 lb. loss. I so badly want to get there.
2/20 156.8 Woo Hoo!!!! I am now at a 45.2 lb loss. I am so thrilled. I did decide to try the HIIT Burn Carb Cycling, so let's see if it works.
2/21: 157.2 Yesterday was my high carb day, and since I worked late, I decided to go out to dinner with my family, and I had 3 taco supremes from Taco Bell. IT WAS YUMMY! Now back to 3 days of low(er) carb.
2/22: 157.8 It was another late night because of Freshman Orientation for my oldest son. I was bad. I didn't do a low carb or low sodium dinner. However, I was still within my carbs because of what I ate all day. My sodium....not so much.
2/23: 157.2 I need to push the fluids. I was under by a ton yesterday.
2/24: 156.6 My lowest point yet! YIPPEE!!!! Have my niece and nephew over all weekend, so their parents could have a weekend getaway. So 5 kids altogether with my own. One night down. One to go.
2/25: 155.8 Hit another new low!!!! I'm so thrilled. I am also thrilled that I survived the second night with my houseful of kids.
