Seems to me that I may or may not need to get myself a gym membership....

Go ahead and buy the gym membership, enjoy your workou.....

    Wait.

Eh, get the gym membership. You can come back here with all kinds of scandalous stories about lecherous stares and ice cream dates.

I was once accused of staring at a lady while at the gym.

The stare was easy to play off and deny.

..... the drool, not so much.

Walk straight up to them. Facing them. My Parole Officer says I can't sneak up behind them any more.

The best approach is no approach...if they are interested in you...let them come to you.

I’m sober now. You’re right, motorsheen, the two are conflicting. But only if the guy is a jerk anyway. Maybe what I was trying to say is, don’t try to be something you’re not. Be you. But if that happens to be a jerk then, sucks for you. I think I like TheRoadDog’s answer better.

First rule of the forum, never doubt the wisdom of TheRoadDog.

and yes, I once tried simply 'being me'..... restraining orders ensued.

Just stare at here in a creepy sort of way until she notices you and leaves. She will most likely leave her number. :D

Right when she is reppin' it out on the bench press, kneel down to head level and whisper into her ear---- "psssst... wanna follow me into the sauna room in 5 minutes?" Give it a shot. I'd try it myself but I'm already banned from every gym in this puritanical state.

I would be really flattered if a man struck up a flirtatious conversation with me at the gym. It's never happened but I think it would be fun. I bet a lot of other women would enjoy it too
  • Probably not the best choice... If it were me, I would be straight up annoyed to be honest

Most people that i see at the gym are so up tight. honestly, a friendly face and encounter is not too bad, if you want to approach anyone, just start with a smile and maybe a HI or good morning. also, like what previous comments mentioned, do not speak to them when they are in the middle of working out, maybe when they are getting water or walking out of the gym. just dont be creepy, be cool lol

I wouldn't. But then again, I wouldn't approach anyone. Anywhere. Maybe if they were on fire. I might say, "excuse me ma'am, you appear to be on fire", then slink away nervously. Maybe.

I don't mean to disturb you, sorry for bothering you :) I totally get that,.

I wouldn't want to be approached at the gym - I'd probably spend like 15 minutes trying to catch my breath!

So just wondering @ZQGainz, have you approached any women since you've posted this? How did it go?

    @newmeadow - this!

we want the proverbial "meet cute" right? You can't meet cute on a screen lol - try the unlikely places!

Just don't scare us lol - go slow - smile, see if she responds, have a corny joke ready - y'know - woo a woman :P

@newmeadow Certainly not the gym where you are there to workout, the grocery where you are there to shop, the library where you are there to read, the mall where you are window shopping, church where you are there to worship, the bar where you just want to drink, a concert where you just want to listen to a band....

Maybe all those Hallmark movies are right and you only find true love when he accidentally bumps into you at a busy intersection and everything turns right in your world in an instant.

And this is why I always hang out at bus stops and freeway rest areas.

I only accept approaching men with the completed consent-to-talk-to-me form application, credit history, and background check in hand.

I've also attached three professional references other than family members with mine, try to contain yourself.

I can think of a couple of guys at my gym that I'd be happy to have approach me! Haha...but, not in the middle of my workout. Make some eye contact, smile and say hey how's it going! Be friendly and casual, don't be creepy or overbearing. You'll know pretty fast if the girl is on the same page. Try that a few times and then if you're feeling particularly ballsy one day, try and catch her on her way out and make some small talk. Work up to it...be cool. ;)

This is good advice. Just take it slow and make sure you back off if she isn’t showing any interest.
Or you could try pulling her pigtails like ZQGainz suggested. That’s how my husband got me! Lol

    Good luck!
