100,000 Pushups in 2018

I've given up my "Year of Reps" challenge as being too easy for me, so instead am challenging myself to something bigger: 100k pushups in the year. Averaged out, that's 274 per day. Anybody care to join me? The sooner you start, the easier the goal is to reach!
Jan 1 - 274/day
Feb 1 - 299/day
Mar 1 - 327/day
...and so on. Of course you can set a smaller goal for yourself (50k, 25k, etc). Let's get cranking on those reps!

I'm surprised no one has commented on your challenge. It's really impressive to me, mainly because I can barely do 10 good ones. And it took me a year to get to 10. But I also don't practice every day.
How do you do them? All at once? 100 push-ups 5X a day? Are you worried about getting an overuse injury?
I don't know what else to say but good job!0 -

I worked my way up to where now I do 10 sets of 50, at the top and bottom of every hour for the first 5 hours of my work shift. It's a good mental break away from work, too, plus helps keep me awake.
As for overuse concerns, that's why I'm not doing more per day and only doing them on days I work...if I'm at home, I'm resting. Those weeks I do more than 5 days of work (happens occasionally) I also stop, so guaranteed two days off per week. Having been subject to shoulder injuries before when I lifted, I am keeping careful watch over my shoulders. So far, no problems which my days off haven't cured.
My other big concern was a lack of corresponding back work, but I have also added pullups. Just nowhere the same numbers, lol.1 -

Right on cue with mmcalmont616 asking about overuse, I felt a little sore when I woke up on the 22nd. Decided to take a couple days off, combined with a ski trip weekend, so it's been surprisingly a week since my last set of pushups. But today there was no soreness (touch of stiffness, but to be expected), so good to go moving forward!0 -

A little behind where I need to be, but I'm actually on pace to make my mark easily. When the year started I slowly worked my way up from a hundred a day to two hundred, etc, up to my current level of 500. Assuming I can keep this current clip of 500 per workday, I'll hit my 100k mark by late November. Gives me some leeway in case of future issues with illness or injury.0 -
Glad I didn’t jinx you or anything.0
