I have always been a TERRIBLE runner so this year I decided to start a couch to 5k running program (it was an awesome way to start running as a beginner). And as of two days ago, I completed 3 miles in 30 minutes! This week at work I officially signed up for a 5k to keep me motivated and hopefully, get my time down a little bit more before the race.30

Just finished w7d3 of C25K and it was, dare I say it, easy. I might like running now?23

I aspire to olympic lifting but I'm not really there yet. I've been trying to learn to do snatches. Today I finally did several--in a row!--with totally adequate form. This means I can start to go up in weight, which will be nice since my current max is 30lb.18

Put on a button up shirt today and it actually fit, it had always been a bit tight before so it felt awesome having room to move!26

I’ve struggled some with sugar cravings over the past 2 months, but I’m proud of how consistent I’ve been with walking almost every day when I get home from work. For me to do that through the months of January and February, when darkness, rain, and cold could have tempted me to skip my active time, feels like an accomplishment. I have been so much more conscious of my activity level and finding a balance with my nutrition over the past 8+ months. This is the longest I’ve ever stuck with health goals; in the past, I always had a specific goal weight in mind, or worked to lose weight for a special occasion, and then when I reached that goal/event I would let go of all discipline and sabotage all of my progress. This time my goal is health—not just my own, but my husband’s (his diabetes diagnosis was the catalyst for all the changes I made), and my kids’ health, as well. My family can see how important activity has become to me, and I can often include my kids in walks around the block. My husband walks with me a couple nights a week now, which is something he never did before he was diagnosed. We have even been talking about taking longer family walks together on weekends as it gets warmer out. I guess I’ve reached “goal weight,” or am very close to it, but I understand now that maintainence takes effort, so much of my reading (beyond this very inspiring thread) has been on the maintainence board. I hope that I am able to “keep” my progress this time, as I continue to educate myself and learn to enjoy a more active and balanced lifestyle with my family.23

Two months ago, at my heaviest non-pregnancy weight, I couldn't reach behind my back to fasten my sports bras (which had previously fit me just fine). I had to fasten it in front and then twist around to get it on (ladies, you know how fun that is!!). And the chest band totally cut into me to the point where it was difficult breathing. That was certainly a moment of truth.
Yesterday, I had no problem fastening it behind me. And it was comfortable - I actually left it on for the rest of the evening after my workout instead of feeling like I had to tear it off immediately, lol.23 -
Buying the damn bikini already.
I'm always waiting to be the "perfect weight" to wear a bikini. But after having my little one, I'm 30lbs down with 30 to go and I said screw it. I don't care if I'm not perfect, I'm so proud of how far I've come that yes I will rock that bikini on the beach!!49 -
Washing my most recently purchased clothes and seeing how much less space they take up when I hang them up to dry!30

Ran a whole 5k on treadmill last night without stopping to walk. Ran each mile faster than the last. 29:49 for 3.1 miles. Pretty stoked!39

This one is a mixed blessing - bought a cool old vintage cocktail dress on Etsy, worried that it would fit my waist since I tend to be thick waisted still and those Mad Men era clothes had tiny waists proportionally. Well... it does zip, fits through the bust, fits through the waist with room to spare (hallelujah!) but vintage clothes are not made with weightlifting in mind, it's too tight in the upper back because of my back muscles. It doesn't really show to me, but it seems I am getting too "yoked" to wear vintage! I'll take that as a victory.
Also good, it looks like there are a couple of inches in the seam allowance so I may be able to pull it off anyway.33 -
All today I was negotiating going home to escape a Noreaster or the gym. I went to the gym.
I finished week 8 day 3 of C210K, and felt like I wanted to keep going. So I ran 4.75 miles in an hour. Not the fastest, but I did it. Then I ran into an old co-worker I hadn't seen in about 2 years and 20 lbs ago. And she complimented me on my continued weight loss.
I really appreciated that. Even though I finally bought smaller dresses and had a 5 lb woosh this week, I was still feeling pretty down about things.30 -
Despite my overweight BMI, my waist is now half my height and my waist to hip ratio is considered low risk!
I also saw a bunch of pictures of myself from a recent wedding and actually liked the way I looked. No more hiding from every camera for me!32 -
I got my fitness tracker about two and a half years ago, around the time I started gaining weight quickly (I wasn't using it much for fitness, at first ). I've always worn it on the same notch, which made it just a little bit loose when I first got it but much snugger after packing on 60 lbs.
Last week, about 1 year after I started getting serious here on MFP, I realized how much it was moving around on my wrist. I had to tighten it a notch I've never used before.
I'm turning 30 in a few months, and it feels good to be in better shape than I was at 27 :-)26
