Hi Sisters,
Becca, cool Bee Poster. I have a huge garden with lots of those flowers for my bees that we keep here for the queen making. They adore lavendar.
Thanks for those who have comforted me over DH communication problems. I need a teleporter Lanette! I just wonder why some men are so lacking in self-awareness and have zero ability to see the other person's point of view? Why would they think being silent is going to solve any problems whatsoever? He thinks he needs to make no effort at all in our relationship. I want that to change now that we are "retiring" and he will have more time but I guess a tiger can't change his stripes. He is who he is and he has never changed in 30 years. You'd think I'd be used to it by now!
I've got the empty nest now for the first time in my life (semi empty) as my youngest still comes home to eat, do laundry and the middle daughter sleeps and eats here three nights a week while working...but I do notice how alone I am most of the time nowadays. Of course, I see people at my office, including my husband but we are all busy working so it's not like we're having fun together. Anyway, I am going to a hiking club meeting tonight and I plan to sign up for some hiking trips and start hanging out with new friends. People who know how to talk! And tomorrow I am having a "Girls Day Out" with my middle daughter who wants me to go with her to a bigger town an hour away to look for a ball dress for her.
It is pouring with rain here this morning, so I am going to ride my bike, do stair climbing, my resistence band, some kettlebell, and hula hooping to get my morning exercise in. THen it's office work after I go out to feed the crew.
Wendy PS. I thought cutting meant she was cutting school. Wasn't until further comments that I understood what the new meaning of that word is. Sad.6 -
Question: What does it mean to close all the rings on my watch?
Goal - Close the rings on my watch daily
I've been MIA, as I've been swallowed whole by my work schedule, and I am getting caught up, but I wear an Apple watch to track activity, etc, and there are three rings; one for stand/walk (at least one minute every hour for 12 hours), an exercise ring (30 minutes of exercise) and a move ring, which I set, myself, currently to burn 460 active calories per day. I just nailed 69 days running.
Now back to my catch up.

The sun is out and it's 58 degrees. No wind so it's a nice day out there. It could be warmer but it's better than yesterday.
Glad you all like the glamor shot. I think everyone needs to do it. I was never taught how to do makeup where I was a teenager and only do basic things that I don't need instruction how to do it. So it's knd of shocking to see myself.
Heather, when I made Trinity a quilt to go on her first bed, not crib, I had enough scraps left over, I made a small quilt for her dolls. She loved it. I know when I was a young girl and my Mom made my clothes, she would make the same for my dolls. That was all the money she had but I loved it. I know Americal girl dolls sell doll and girl clothes to match but you can think outside the box and buy baby clothes.
Am looking forward so much for my increase dose of Lyrica to work and I can feel normal again and my social self get out there again. It's one of those conditions that you don't see this bless you see my finger and thumb stuck up in the air for a long time.

Did an hour of the Biggest Loser Last Chance Workout. The plan for tomorrow is to go to the water aerobics class
Becca - that rental looks so nice. 5 bedrooms! Oh, I know, you're getting ready for all you MFP friends to come visit. Got ja.
Marcelyn - have you ever gone to walk.jog.fm/popular-workout-songs? From my recollection, they give you the bpms
janetr - that's wonderful that you have such first-hand experience for Sue. I'm sure she'll have the same positive outcome that you had
Laura - happy early birthday
janetr - congrats on that fantastic weight loss
How I wish we didn't have the time change. Mary - doesn't Arizona keep the same time? How do you deal with the change when you go somewhere? I just read that FL has introduced legislation to do away with the changing time which is great. Hope they do it. But that'll be really interesting when we go down there. katla - never say never. I never thought FL would even consider it.
Karen in VA - thanks for the big smile on my face
Rita - feel better fast
Double Stuffed Oreos (some frozen) dunked in a tall glass of milk...almost as good as frozen Thin Mints dunked in milk
Julie - congrats on the running
I had a post all ready and something happened and I lost it.
Exercised and then went to ACMoore to get rhinestones for my latest ceramic "creation", then to Aldi to get milk for Vince. Came home and then went to get the meeting supplies from the hubby who he and his wife set up for me last month. He wanted to just bring them to the next meeting, but there are some things that I need to take care of before the meeting. So I'm glad I have them.
Cake decorating class tonight. I think I have most of the supplies packed in a bag to take with me.

Rita - Sorry to hear about the allergies/congestion/asthma. Are your shots helping most of the time?
I'm currently filling out the info sheet to take to the allergist on Thursday when I get the skin prick tests. I always end up writing notes all over their standard form that has only YES or NO answers, so will attach my own summary sheet and cut to the chase. I know a lot of the triggers for my sinus problems are food related (dairy and gluten and sugar to some extent = yeast), not dust or pollen and when I had the skin prick test ten years ago, they didn't check foods.
Beth - glad you are finding some housing possibilities for your son and his roommate.
Michele - I agree that Becca needs to go for the 5 bedroom place so we have a place to stay when we visit, lol.
Joyce - crossing my fingers the increased dose of Lyrica does the job for you!
Wendy - good idea finding new people to be around who like to talk! Seems like expecting DH's to fit the bill in talking (especially about heartfelt topics) is a lost cause for many women, lol. So good you have daughters close to do things with. You know your critters would talk if they could (I know they talk to you in their language, which you DO speak) but it's not the same as human conversation. Sometimes, tho, I prefer dog conversations, lol.
BUT, I think talking and the human connection is what I miss the most about being retired. My DH talks some when he's feeling good and is company then .... but also with all of his ailments, he SLEEPS a lot during the day as his night sleep often isn't very good due to aches and pains and worry. So I end up tiptoeing around during the day and not doing noisy things like laundry and dishes except when he is up - tho I've several stern discussions with him about how wonderful it would be if he'd nap in the bedroom where he could close the bedroom door instead of on the sofa in the middle of everything. He has gotten better about "putting up" with having me home 24/7.
So I'm going to pursue that PT job at Public Works now that he's not up for any type of surgery or recovery soon. I know there are tasks that need to be done there from time to time that aren't really schedule dependent like scanning and filing and working in the records room where I could put in time as it fit MY schedule.
Convincing management to hire me to do those things will be the first task. The old sell job, lol. I am pretty adamant now that any job or volunteer gig I do in the future will fit my schedule, not someone else's.

You will eventually get up to The three sets of the goblet squats the amount of squats never changes and 22 sets of the Russian kettle bell swings.
Notice you did what we call a deload and started the week doing 2 less sets then day 5 & 6. This is the pattern for the next 3 weeks. 4 total weeks.
Good luck!

Dog Food: My pom is 8 going on 9. When we got him at 8 wks old, he would eat dry dog food. Then my DH started feeding him off his plate. Of course, that changed everything and he would no longer touch any dog food or treats. I have cooked chicken, pork, and beef for him ever since. Recently found I could mix it with buttered rice. After a bout of digestive problems a couple of weeks ago, I tried Crave wet dog food. Very expensive but he loved it. Now I have found that he will also eat Wellness brand for small dogs if I mix it with an egg yolk. Evidently, I was feeding him too much of the Crave as it had a lot of liver in it and that is what caused the horrible poop problems the other night. Learned my lesson!2

Lannette said, "BUT, I think talking and the human connection is what I miss the most about being retired."
I totally agree with this statement. I really miss having other people to talk with. My DH mainly wants to talk politics and I am just not as interested. He is not interested in the shows I watch on television and the topics I want to discuss. And, I know it's my fault that I have not gotten involved with doing new things where I could talk to others.

Wendy, good for you not waiting around for your DH to talk. Get out there girl and make new friends. Might find someone else in the same boat. I did read once that men don't like to talk facing each other and women do. If you notice, men will sit next to each other to talk. I've tried this and it does help. If I need to talk, I suggest a car ride. We aren't facing and he can't get up and leave. lol3

Got my hula hooping done. FMD day 3. Kidd Kirby had emergency vet trip yesterday but we think he’ll be ok. Of all my cats ever, he is he most disturbed by car trips in the carrier - he sounded like he was going to die I know I’m helping him when we take him to the vet but I feel like I’m torturing Kidd.
Yesterday also nothing at work went according to script. And it seemed every 5 minutes I had to deal with another complaint. Got out late and was frantic every second while working. I have been feeling very down today, and I think yesterday must be the reason.

Hi friends. I am back and ready to rumble as I said on my home page!
My visit with DH was just wonderful. It couldn't have been more perfect. We spent a lot of time laughing so that made us both feel good. Now I feel just totally satisfied and content.
Rori, I plan to go back the 2nd weekend in June. My friend drove this time, so I was sort of at her mercy as far as the agenda went. I would love to meet up with you next time. I will arrive that Friday evening and leave Monday morning instead of Sunday night. I could not make that drive after visiting til noon by myself...ugh!
I plan to get back into the swing of things, so for now I will just say cheers to all of us! Take care, meg from Omaha where the snow and wind are blowing! it's March!10 -
We had a fantastic lunch with good entertainment. I caught a piece of broccoli that the chef flung into my mouth!
Beth - I'm glad that you got it. After rereading it I noticed how talk to text really messed up some of my words!

Meg, it's good to "hear" optimism in your voice! And so glad you had a good visit with the DH. Hope you and Rori get a chance to get together on your next visit.5

Terry - I think you are on the money about side by side talks and when they are held captive in the car, lol.

Today is Unique Names Day!
"Names are important as they help to create our identity to the world and to ourselves. Unique Names Day takes a moment in the year to celebrate those who have these interesting names." I don't meet a lot of other Yvonnes, but there've been enough over the years that I can't call my name unique. Not compared to, say, "Hudson Terraplane" (a childhood friend of Philip's) or "Eldritch Snorklebeast" (a friend's attempt to identify who was selling his info to mailing lists).
Terry - I tried to take a picture of the new hair, but I can't get it to capture the color accurately. It's much brighter than it looks here.
Sue - I'm so glad your grand-daughter's swim coach was on the ball! Hopefully the counselor will be able to teach her some better coping mechanisms.
Machka - Goodness, all that sounds so miserable! Whatever got you, got you good! Wishing you relief soon. At least you'll be well rested!
Meg - Welcome back!
I'm late getting to the list today because our internet went down for several hours and I had work to catch up on by the time it was working again. At least the down time let me wash the dishes, fertilize the citrus, and make a meal plan and shopping list for the rest of the week!

Hello ladies!!
So I'm the wise one eh?? I did buy 6 huge bags f groceries for $145! That's pretty wise of me! Skinny Girls had a product being discontinued. It was 6 packets of truffles! Only $2.99, reg $5 so I have the now 5 packets in a mason jar for my pleasure!
I also bought the two pack of organic red quinoa and brown rice, I can just microwave! The cups are 4.4 oz which seems a lot, so I'm having half for my portions. Another interesting item was orange juice with tumeric and probiotics in it! Hurrah for me!
Lunch was 1 slice of 3 seed sourdough, with 3 turkey slices, 7 or so spinach leaves, with some cucumber spears. I feel like a model. I rock!
I rec'd a huge plastic container with a lid that seals, awhile ago, and I use it for cereal. Bought some granola with bits of dried berries in it. I have a small plastic container in it for measuring. Its great on yogurt!
I'm so sorry Sue, about your DGD. Its so tough, how to address issues like that carefully. My youngest son didn't do the cutting part, but he was addicted to porn. I remember having the most frank conversation with him. It was a coping mechanism with having a sick father. It dulled the mental pain of it all. By no means am I comparing one addiction with the other.
He's better I suppose, now that he's at Nuke school and no time for that!
Hugs everyone!
Becca
