This my first one, but I started lifting and eating healthier and lifting regularly at the start of the year.
The other day my 9 year old and I were playing around and he went to punch my arm so I flexed my biceps. He said “ouch dad I punched your bone.” I smiled and let him know that was muscle. Felt pretty good after that.37 -
NSV1: Have been thinking really that my shoes 'must be comfier' or something as I can stand around for hours on end now before getting sore feet.
Realised this morning that it probably isn't my shoes, it is more likely to be the 50 odd lb less weight that is in them!! Felt nice hehe
NSV 2: My mate bought me a tshirt (M) back from Hawaii and it is lovely. Was wary when I held it up, but grateful she had got me something I would fit into soon if not now, rather than the size I used to wear.
Tried it on, and voila, it fit! mega chuffed! now I have 2 tshirts that are 'fitted' and not hugely baggy!31 -
Took 2nd in my age group at the Celtic run earlier this month!27

I still love reading these! I had a girlfriend bring over a shirt for me for an event and for the first time I wasn't totally worried if it would fit. It fit perfectly and I don't even know what size it was, I never asked. It's amazing how much less stress I have when I don't have to worry about clothing/fitting.22

Two of them recently:
1) Was out walking the dog yesterday and a neighbor yelled, "you're looking slim!" as I walked by. Slim has never been a word used to describe me... EVER.
2) Pulled some old flats out of the closet to wear. They used to rub against the side of my pinky toe so I rarely wore them. I realized that my feet have shrunk a bit and they are actually a little too wide now and my feet keep sliding around in them!24 -
I just had one the other day but I have a new one now: after 2.5 years of climbing plus also probably due to having lost weight the past few months I now have a hint of muscle definition in my forearms. I noticed it the other day and just now when brushing my teeth. Maybe I am not supposed to feel excited about this as a girl, but I do!! Hope this translates into finally defeating the overhang at the bouldering wall tomorrow!24

After almost reaching my arbitrary goal last Summer, I gained a bunch of weight last Winter. I finally came to my senses when I realized that I had discarded all my larger clothes and couldn't gain any more without having to buy larger sizes. I have been able to lose weight steadily this year, so that's no news. Logging your eats and paying attention to your calorie needs is going to work. The NSV today is that I can once again leave the L shirts in the closet. My M's are fitting again.31

My NSV is that I seem to have stopped caring about the scale. Since starting my new exercise program, my goals have shifted to be more fitness focused, i.e. more pull-ups, lifting heavier, getting my first muscle-up, etc. There is nothing wrong with weighing yourself and having weight goals, but I am so much happier, and actually healthier, now that mine aren't all geared towards that!20

I had a garage sale over the weekend and wore a t-shirt from the university I attended. THREE different people asked me if I played basketball there and one of them seemed to mean, like, currently...hilarious, since I'm 41.
But I really found it kind of awesome that they would associate me with basketball or any kind of sport. I'm 5'8" size 10 and maybe look a tad sporty... When I was in college in the 1990s I was size 24/26 (definitely not a "fit yet big" girl either) and I guarantee no one would have ever thought I was an athlete. So this was a great NSV for me!26 -
I can smoke my wife, who has been running for years, in a run...for a few miles anyway. She may kill be tomorrow on a long run, but I'm not giving up.23

I did a double take in the mirror and noticed I have a BABY BICEP! Was not expecting to see that, considering I just starting attempting the whole weight-lifting thing a few weeks ago.
Feels very good!!22 -
A couple weeks ago, I hit my goal weight and went into maintenance (so here's hoping all future victories are NSVs ) While I was losing the weight, I would generally avoid of some of my favorite foods because they were "trigger" foods - if I had a little, I'd have a lot. Pizza is one of those foods, and after everything I went through to get to this point, I never really learned how to enjoy in moderation.
Earlier this week, I was tested when my boyfriend wanted to order a pizza. Now that I'm in maintenance and this is starting to feel like a more permanent lifestyle change, I'm trying to incorporate back in some of my favorite foods without going overboard. Instead of ordering my very own large pizza and polishing it off within 24 hours (something I've been known to do), I checked the menu for a healthier option. I ordered a small, vegetarian flatbread that was surprisingly delicious. I ate it until I wasn't hungry anymore, stayed within my calorie goal, and saved the rest for lunch the next day.
It's a little thing, but it's one of the biggest hurdles I think I've cleared so far. Now that I know I can do it, I think it'll be a little easier next time :-)

Vendors bring a lot of crap into my office. I made a rule (for myself): If I didn't log it, pack it and bring it, I don't get it. This entire week (I would have bet I couldn't do this, btw) I've turned down Einstein bagels, Krispy Kreme donuts, cake, bean dip and chips, etc., etc. All week long.
Okay, full disclosure, I did eat some raw carrots, broccoli and cauliflower that a co-worker brought in today but I ate them plain, without the ranch dressing and I'm trying to increase my veggie intake (I don't even weigh or log them) so I'm not counting them.39 -
FINALLY assembled my indoor bike trainer 3 days ago and did indoor biking earlier this morning. This is huge b/c I don't enjoy exercise, never do it and have been feeling down lately.28

I think that I may have converted another to the joy of Parkruns.
Saturday mornings usually consist of myself and my oldest son actually running and my DH, youngest son and small daughter volunteering at the local Parkrun.
My son was unable to run with me today as he wanted to go boating with his Sea Cadet Unit, which coincided with the Parkrun. As he needed my DH to take him down to the lake, DH couldn't volunteer and therefore the younger children couldn't either (too young to be left alone, even though I have no doubt that the other volunteers would ensure their safety but it's the responsibility of DH and I). So my small daughter, aged 5, decided that she would "run" with me.
I was expecting to walk the entire course, which was fine with me, as long as we made it round. It was bitterly cold so I wrapped my daughter up well and off we went. Managed to park the car, joined the other 400 people and we are listening to the pre-run briefing when my daughter announces that she needs to go to the toilet. We're on the verge of the run starting.
I have no choice other than to take my daughter to the toilet. By the time we're done, the run has started and there's no-one to be seen. Ooops. We start running and after seven or eight minutes we can just about see the tail walker. I told my daughter that we just needed to catch her up, then we could walk as slowly as she wanted to go.
It took us the best part of half of the course but we caught up with the tail walker. My daughter was amazing and was doing walk/run intervals of her own accord - I know from past experience that she won't run if I try to encourage her, so I just held her hand and followed her lead.
The tail walker was so lovely to my daughter, really encouraging her. Runners were flying past us (two lap course) -
lots of those recognised her as she's normally stood at the funnel and they were yelling encouragement to her as they went by. All of the marshals we "collected" on the way past were right behind her, so even more people were encouraging her. Then, towards the end of the course, we found a lady, who makes a real point of finding and speaking to my daughter every week, waiting for her so she could run the last bit with her. At the last corner, the marshal was screaming encouragement at my little one, then grabbed her hand and started running with her. I see this marshal every week but I have never seen her run, so this was unheard of! My daughter must have had six or seven people running with her at the end, they were fabulous with her. My little one shot through the tunnel and was so excited to get her first Parkrun (as opposed to Junior Parkrun) token at the end. It was so emotional (for me). We got round the course faster than I'd expected as well, so she did really well.
The best bit, for me that is, was that she then announced that she wanted to do it again next week.
Another Parkrun convert!
And I also got my 5k run in as my son and I went out this afternoon. It cost me my bike ride but was worth it48 -
I lost my Costco card so had them make a new one for me. Which required a new photo. It’s super grainy and pixelated, but my face... it’s all angles and cheekbones. No double chin. No puffiness. I didn’t know I looked like that.35

Today, my husband and I chopped a bunch of veggies and put all the ingredients to make spectacular salads on one shelf in our fridge. We have our own mini salad bar!30
