Oh I'm a few years older than that guy, but I never had a real relationship apart from the one that led to marriage before, so never had to break up with anyone. Hope you don't think me abnormal but this has been going for 30 years now.0 -
I had sex with hundreds of women after my divorce. Oh and got a puppy.....8

do the things she said no to. my ex said that if i got my septum pierced she would never date me again. it worked. 17 years later i looked her up on facebook a while back. i didn't stalk her but she went and put her profile on private probably because i didn't reach out to talk to her. so just put her in the past. get over the hurt so it doesn't eat away at you and just move on.1

You should come up with a personal plan... write it out. It's time to get a little bit self centered and focus on you. Eat well and take good care of yourself... Do things that bring you happiness... Spend time with family and friends and LAUGH.
The demise of my last relationship felt much like grieving and it was..., there are stages and things that you are just going to have to go through, things that take time to work out. It's not easy... but in time, you will come out the other side.
What she said....create your own life that does not include the ex....the things that only you like...maybe she didn't like your faux leopard skin smoking jacket and made you throw it out....get another one...day after my break up, I rearranged the house...to the way I wanted, and the way I knew she would hate. It was great therapy.
Also, drink... and don't underestimate the therapeutic values of promiscuous sex (a friend told me to say that...lol)
All the self medicating and "distractions" in an effort to forget, only proved to make things worse for my mental and emotional wellbeing. It may be a right of passage for a traumatizing break up... but it won't change a damn thing... once you sober up and the stranger leaves you're left with the same emptiness... only after I began coping in real and healthy ways did I begin to make progress.5 -
I'm not gonna sleep around as I respect my ex. we are still good friends but he has to move back to US as work permit ended.2

Do better. Be better. Not than them... but better than you were yesterday. Everyday is Chance to change and make progress! Get the ball rolling and never look back.0

Either you're moving on or you're not moving on. Pick one.0

abnormal? nope; not at all.
if you're happy, that's all kinds of awesome.

No one said it had to be a random. Just find someone you like enough to sleep with and hang out with, then start a thing with him, and bing bang boom, your ex will be a fond memory.3 -
@TitaniaEcks I wouldn't know where to start.0

Take it from this birch right here who's been around the block, fallen desperately in love and gotten her heart broken mercilessly several times to the point where I thought I would die... Life goes on the minute you replace the old flame. And the best part is you can still be friends because you didn't actually wrong him.4

Give it time and allow yourself to heal.2

Sounds like it starts in a trailer park and ends when you have absolutely no self respect left.
Well now, some double wides can be quite luxurious.
and... ending with no self respect? I started with no self respect and it went downhill from there.0 -

@SabotageinStilettos i know people think all gay guys sleep around but I dont (I'm Bi). Ive never had one night stand or friend with benefits.
I have loads of close friends who are helping me through break up so I will be fine.5 -

Ahhh the subtlety... so which one am I?
The one squirting ?1 -
I don't think sleeping around and *kitten* everyone in their city right after a breakup is healthy. That's an angry type of response and I think other people will pick up on it which will doom any potential chemistry. And if you don't care to start a relationship, but just want sex, the physical stuff usually doesn't heal the emotional pain. YMMV0

It’s been almost 3 years and I stopped living my life thinking someone else had to be there. I found my hobbies, more time with my kids I got to be selfish and I have been able to do all the things I’ve wanted to. My finances are even better. But all of that was time as well. Meditation, reading, writing a book helped me and great friends.0
