@Birder165 Thanks Karen. Your doing very well yourself. Keep up the good work.
Just a little insight. Whenever I have gain large amounts of weight, the first 20 or 30 go quickly. Probably because my body in shock for not getting all the food it use it. Then it starts to slow down. [/quote]
I understand. Anything over 250 comes off pretty easily for me. I'm at the weight right now that I've settled in to for several years and it's a bit of a fight to get under but it's a goal I'm committed to. I haven't weighed under 200 pounds since 1994 when I quit smoking. I intend to get there by the end of this year and to goal next year sometime.
Everything about this attempt is different for me, mostly my attitude, so I'm very confident I will be successful.
I hope You and Everyone here has Success!

I kind of forgot about this whole challenge so I haven’t been good about the weekly post. Didn’t quite hit my goal of 285, but I did get to 288! So 20 lbs down for this challenge. Hope y’all are doing well!!

I liked this challenge! Not sure if it was it or the fact that my one year of effort is coming up on June 11. I really wanted to be under 200, now I want to be at 50 pounds down, which should be doable if I keep up the same pace.4 -
Monday: I've lost 1lb, I feel like it's not much at all, but its better than nothing.
Tuesday: I need to make some mini goals to reach, but I'm not sure what.
Raven, my only caution is to make this realistic and sustainable. Though I'd like to have all my weight off now having been at it this time for nearly 11 months, realistically my body and my ability to sustain the effort only works at +/-1 pound per week. Occasionally, I'll get a bigger drop, but it is rare. The wisdom I actually settled on is I didn't put it on in a year, why should I expect to take it off in a year. So, now I've settled on trying to do it over 3 years. Congratulations on getting this started and striving to get down for the Disney trip. I hope you'll join me on this long walk back to health.8 -

My husband and I recently purchased bikes for ourselves and the kids. We have set a goal of riding bikes with the kids for at least 30mins/6 days a week. We have made it 2 days so far, we started on Monday.5

Ok, around the end of May we'll get started on the summer challenge. It will be a great motivator for me to take the lead on this so I don't fall off the wagon over summer.5

I looked back at my couple year history on MFP today. Every time I get to this point in my weight loss (about 260lbs) something happens and I give it up and eventually creep back to old habits and gain it all back. Seeing this pattern (not including two stints of weight watchers and Atkins and whatever else! Ugh- so many failed "diets.") is really sobering. I'm nowhere near ready to quit this time. I don't know that anything's really different about my approach other than just being more forgiving of myself and more accountability. For me personally, this is a spiritual journey as well and I've been trying hard to give this battle to God. Cause it really does feel like a war sometimes. Anyways, I'm facing the fear that I will fail again head on, reminding myself to take things day by day and keep putting one foot in front of the other (figuratively AND literally- Gotta get those steps in, dontchaknow!)
This group of people is amazing- keep on keeping on, warriors! I'm looking forward to a spring and summer of success in slimming! Hey maybe that should be the summer challenge title (Summer Slimdown)??? You likey?7
