Longest run in my entire life!!
First time having to fuel during an activity. Used SIS gel and Lucozade sport raspberry. Wow that stuff is tasty.
But felt so amazing. I hurt less after than last week which was 8 miles and I actually can't wait for next week's 12 mile run to see what time I will get.

I just ran a 28:30 5k personal best, man I remembered getting mad trying to figure out how to run faster than a 42 minute 5k a couple of months ago.27

Just got back from a cruise, and I did gain a little bit. But my husband and I vowed we would not step foot on the elevator on the ship and we stayed true to our vow. I regularly got 15K steps a day and went up and down at least 50-75 flights of stairs per day. So, I think the weight gain might've been way worse had we not stuck to our plan.42

After a year of walking/jogging on the treadmill at home, today I beat back 40 years of self-consciousness and jogged through my neighborhood! Huge NSV for me!52

I did my second 5k yesterday and decided to do it just 2 days beforehand at a friend's request. I still made a better time than the first one I did in 2017, even though I just speed-walked more than 1/2 of it both times.
My husband didn't do the 5k and after lunch he wanted to walk at a nature center (up a couple hundred stairs to the top of a steep hill, and then a leisurely hike down through a forest)...he thought I might want to skip that after the morning's activities, but I was totally up for it!
The real NSV for me though is after a nice dinner and glass of wine, my husband and I had a couple craft beers too, plus a shot...and instead of vegging out on the sofa & calling it a night, I suggested we go for another walk because it was so nice outside. We walked about 3 miles from our neighborhood into downtown and back, at 10 pm & after drinking, and I felt great after and don't feel remotely sore this morning from either walk/jog/run...got a good night's sleep.
For a 40-something who used to have sore ankles/shins after walking around Old Navy & Target for an hour (at age 30) this is good!30 -

I wore a pair of shorts to get a little sun this weekend, very old shorts. like I haven't worn them for 20+ years. I also noticed they were also kinda out-of-style and demonstrating their age. Oh well.. Even though I only wore them in my own back yard - my legs literally haven't seen the light of day for two decades - so it felt like a big deal I also bought a pair of white capri pants this weekend (In my life I've only owned one white pair of pants and that was when I was in my 20s, as I got heavier I always felt so self conscious and I avoided wearing light colored pants altogether. NSV X 2.40

I went to Old Navy this weekend for shorts. Ended up buying a pair in size 4 and a few extra small shirts. Vanity sizing? Most likely. I'm small, but more of a size 6 small, not a size 4 small.19

Biked 7.5miles to gym in34mins, hit 4x4 sets focused on shoulders/traps with limited rest between sets, 6 clean sets of 30sec planks in <5mins, reversed route & biked back home in 28mins ... on my birthday!19

Tapping my foot impatiently while I wait for the scale to drop again . . . until then, looking for NSVs!
When I started back in December, I had to snap my sports bras around my waist, and then inch the thing up over my shoulders. In March, I was finally able to hook it behind my back without doing gymnastics.
Yesterday, I hooked it on the second set of hooks - I'm losing inches :-)31 -
Today I ran in a 10 mile (running) road race. The NSVs are twofold: 1) an ugly spring cold found me last week and I wasn't sure I would even be able to run in the event; and 2) my gun time was just over 2 minutes faster than the last time I ran this race 13 years ago.
Older and faster - quite delighted with it all!26 -

i haven't been lifting or training at all (well, hardly). my dad went into hospital on good friday and as of right now he's still there.
but i have nsv to report.
- on march 28th they admitted him.
- on april 15-ish i got to see him. you could hear him coming a long way down the hall by the shuffling sound.
- on april 29 his doctor said he could go out for a while, if he went out with me. we stepped out through the doors and he almost fell as he took the fourth step.
- on may 20th (which was yesterday) my dad and i signed him out like a library book, and i took him on a looooooong-*kitten* daytrip to see family, which involved taking my car, a ferry, a light-rail train, significant walking, another car and then navigation around an unfamiliar house for a whole afternoon before turning around and doing it all once again in reverse. HE DID FINE. i gave him groceries to carry as we went into the house, and he did fine.
everyone has been giving me that special and tough-love-y look and telling me 'once people as old as your dad go into a hospital, they normally never come out.' admittedly what took my dad in there was not physical, and admittedly there's no saying how he will do once he's out forever again. and admittedly nobody actually knows when (if ever) he's going to get out. but i mean . . . ? my father lost pretty much all of his gross-motor function over the course of a month, and not that i'm any kind of professional but he seems to be getting it back at about the same rate that he lost it at.
and all that happens is i go fetch him every day or pretty close to that frequently, and depending on how much time he's out for, we do stuff.41 -
I have to wear OR scrubs at work and my husband has been telling me my scrubs are getting way too big on me. A few months ago I did try to go down a scrub size but was unsuccessful as they were a bit too tight. However, I was in agreement with my husband and my current scrubs were way too big on me. I grabbed a size small from the machine on my way home from work to try on in the privacy of my own home and was shocked when they fit perfectly. When I started my job two years ago I wore an XL. I am still feeling a bit shocked that the smalls fit.36

I wasn't even scared of the sign that turned me around years ago. Last year this time they would have had to life flight me out of that crack in the world. This year I am victorious. My weekend in the North Georgia mountains was not a food diary success but it was a physical success. I love my new life MFP!40 -

That's awesome!!!! Yeah, sometimes the scale is stubborn and not very honest. Clothing tends to be much more honest about our weight.12 -
Last week was a rough week, mostly because any fat loss was masked by health issues. The scale isn't budging and it looked as if the dragonpants were going to win. My perseverance was flagging as I slogged through the marshy swamp of self-doubt and lack of results. I'd been so good! But it is easy to get toppled by external factors -- like eating something you thought was safe but then triggered a whole host of health issues, blah blah blah. Somewhere along the way, I lost my awesome. I lost my proverbial sword and I guess I almost lost the will to move forward.
Then, on a whim, I decided to try and see if that red leather jacket fit again. It doesn't quite yet, but it isn't super tight either. My arms slide through the sleeve as the leather rustled like soft butter. It's tight, but I can zip it up without looking like an overstuffed cannoli.
It's a small win, and while I can't wear it yet (well more, I don't feel comfortable wearing something I still feel is too small), it's progress.
Despite everything, the Swamp of Lies yielded up a small kernel of hopeful truth: I'm making progress. So hopefully, when the storm of side effects of getting accidentally contaminated ends... I will have even more progress to show. And maybe I'll be out of the swamp and back onto solid ground, running for them dang pants.
But for now, I know that... I'm that much closer to my red leather jacket!24 -
Like many before me, of late I have been a bit frustrated by the lack of movement on the scale. So today I got the measuring tape out. Since January I have lost 4 inches off my waist and 7 inches off my hips. Just staggered and re-inspired by those numbers. That is why we should take measurements as well as weighing, folks. If I had just accepted what the scale was telling me ... well, I wouldn't have thrown in the towel but, from being down in the dumps, I am now on cloud nine. It is working! The secret is to just keep going despite the tough times.31

I took pictures of me today and compared them to ones I took last September. I have less of a sway back and my stomach looks flatter and a lot less bloated, despite me feeling bloated today.17

Wasnt sure where to post this - mini goal or nsv - but: I (safely) moved from a max back squat of 145 to 165 last Thursday. Then this morning I moved to 195. I've finally found my 1rm! Yay for pushing yourself!
The last 2 or 3 months I've been transitioning from a focus on nutrition to a focus on the fun things (like crossfit and lifting) bc I've finally moved to a place where it isn't constantly me vs food. I finally trust myself to consistently make good food decisions, and don't hate myself when I indulge or even make bad decisions. I really HAS sank in that 1 or 2 bad days won't screw me up permanently. I'll admit that I feel disappointed if I don't eat smart, but I certainly don't feel negative towards food or myself.
I'm still looking to break the 200 mark on many things: my weight below 200, my lifts above 200, my 200m run time below a minute (laughable, but it may happen lol). Wooohooooo!19 -
I hope it's not too annoying that I'm posting another nsv outfit picture so soon after the last, but I can't begin to describe how amazing it feels to put on a nice dress and not look like a pregnant man in a dress. I still have a bit of a gut, but the right outfit hides it pretty well now.
I haven't looked this acceptable in a dress since the 8th grade (I happen to still have my 8th grade dress in the closet, and it more-or-less fit when I tried it on a few weeks ago).
Non-outfit related nsv, I've started walking a bit again, and it seems to be helping take the edge off of my crippling depression.53 -
@Alice_in_VVonderland you look amazing - I bet people tell you to stop losing all the time. If it is improving your health - stick with it! I cannot commend you enough for walking and exercise in general for depression5

Best NSV for me is I have had a few rough weeks with keeping on plan due to travel and family events, but I realized it will pass and just need to get back to healthy eating. It is amazing how different I feel when not eating as healthy as I am used to. Not even going to step on scale until I am feeling like my body is feeling better again.13
