Where is that falvoured ice cube and xanthan gum fluff recipe??

Here's my version that I've posted before
    b1zzdaj8lu8p.jpg

    Vitamix or really good blender
    10-15 calories total

    1 Tbsp dark cocoa powder
    1/4 tsp. Xanthum gum
    1/4 tsp. Guar gum
    1/4 + C. Dark cold coffee
    Stevia or sweetner of choice
    Vanilla, etc.,
    Ice cubes

    Blender:
put cocoa, stevia, etc., cold coffee and first handful of ice cubes.
    Blend well
Keep adding a few ice cubes at a time until amount desired
Add Xanthum and Guar gum when blended - blend that in

Use straight away as a 'cream' ontop of things
    or
I like to 'set' mine in freezer to get a more 'ice cream' version (1+ hours)

Would this still come out as good if i don't have Guar gum

It’s best with xanthan gum added or guar forsure

true - it's added to thicken but also helps with the 'icy' factor - creates a more creamy, ice cream-like consistency.

Public service announcement— protein ice cream fluff does NOT fluff well with almond/coconut milk blend. I think the fat from the coconut wrecked it. I mean, I ate it anyway, and it was yummy - but texture was off.

Thanks for the heads up! I've never used anything but cashew milk or almond/cashew blend.
I'm still obsessed with making this stuff! I'll never get sick of it.

I wish we could get sugar free hello in the UK :(

    Amazon.com

    What is 'sugar free hello'?

Lol....a friendly version of jello which has been auto spell check corrected as it's not a UK English word :)

    @pinggolfer96 thanks.....I hadn't thought of that :)

You can buy Hartleys Sugar Free jelly on Amazon UK. Different flavours. A whole sachet is about 35 calories. I've got loads of the stuff. They used to do in Tesco, too, not sure if they still do.

I think I've seen people make fluff with plain whey, but imo, it's best with whey/casein.

Also, not all protein powders work well with it. I tried PES in it and it didn't fluff well at all. And that's a whey/casein blend. I was bummed, because that's their Frosted Chocolate Cupcake is one of the best chocolate protein powders out there.

Quest always does really well for protein fluff and protein ice cream.

Caveat: I have celiac disease and my selection of protein powders is limited because of it. A lot of them are manufactured on shared equipment. I don't have experience with a lot of different brands.

Recommendation: Go for the protein ice cream. It's much better than protein fluff. It's really a lot like soft serve.

I love Enlightened ice cream recently, but I am going to start making the protein ice cream since it's cheaper per serving & I still have a lot of protein powder/casein powder to go through.

Anyone have any tasty veggie soup recipes? I've been eating a lot of soup lately and trying to mix it up.

One of my favourites is Jamie Oliver's carrot orange ginger soup. Its just a basic carrot soup but you add the grated peel of an orange and then add the juice as well. And about an inch worth of grated ginger (adjust depending on how much you like ginger). Once its cooked, put it in the blender, or use an immersion blender. It has a little more carbs than a regular veggie soup but to me its worth it.

I'm loving this thread! Over the winter my favourite food was a tray of roasted veggies (cauliflower, brocolli, peppers, carrots, asparagus, beets, brussel sprouts, etc). I would fill the tray with full intention of saving half to take for my lunch the next day. Uh, no. I'd eat it all. But now I have met like minded people on here and I don't feel so bad about doing it lol

I did it. Oh. My. God.

Only issue i had was eggs are aparently really hard to crack nicely at room temp. Had to add a little Xanthan gum to thicken it slightly when one of my yolks half cracked in the mix. Otherwise. OMG. Used vanilla whey with caramel extract topped with fruits and light whip cream- 205 calorie cake 375 calories total. Its SO much beter thn i expected and has 39g protein. holy. The cake itself tastes like toasted marshmallow.

Edit to add- The cake itself is good enough to eat on its own happily.... Seriously way beter thn i expected

Can you please share the recipe? This looks so delicious!

Was posted before a few pages back heres a video . I think this is a new few times a week thing for me. So filling and super easy lol. Remember cartoned egg whites dont work, And i believe it has to be whey protein i went out and got it just for this :p Worth it

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7b16AhPY3o

Trust me, they do work just fine. Make sure its egg whites and not egg beaters.

I still need to make this recipe!

I put a TON of onion powder on my salads and veggies, LOL. I find it really gives salads a great flavor and almost like a chip coating, (I mixed it up after this) when it mixes with and thickens the dressing. So good!

If anyone is the in the market for a new blender:

The nutribullet RX has been a godsend, it has "Souperblast Mode" which makes hot soup in seven minutes, my favorite so far is:
    Zucchini
    Onion
    Chicken Broth
    Seasoning

Mix in 1 tablespoon of sour cream and blend for 30 more seconds

Creamy soup at 68 calories a serving, I can eat the entire blender full for under 300 calories to go with my main meal if its not filling enough o:)
We have the same one, love it

This particular time I used Trader Joe's balsamic (25 cal). But my favorites are walden farms honey dijon, skinny girl balsamic (10cal), and light italian (10-25cal). I typically stick to <30 calories per 2 tbsp dressings. I also add some type of hot sauce to the salad and a squirt of fresh lemon.

Then I add onion powder, garlic powder, no salt salt, italian seasoning, and a pinch of sweetener to balance the spiciness of the hot sauce.

For Tumeric specifically (or a blend that has it), what type of foods does it work with? I’m vegan and have tried it on veggies and thought it was terrible - I assume I used too much or had a bad combo. Thoughts?

I am not a spice expert, but new new obsessions are Trade Joe’s, Everything but the Bagel, and my new love, vanilla bean powder. Yum.

Turmeric is one of the spices that is best bloomed before adding to a recipe. Blooming turmeric takes a lot of the bitterness out of it. I use it in a lot of things, after blooming, pizza sauce, tofu scramble, chick pea salad and, of course, Indian food.

    PS, I’m vegan as well.

^I do the same...great in my scrambled 'eggs' (the tofu scramble you mentioned). I love it soups and curries - which I have very often. I've tried 'tumeric milk' - I like it (used almond milk w/vanilla stevia). I like it, but it's probably an acquired taste - very 'earthy'

I don't like the taste, but fyi it's great for arthritis. I give the pill form to my dogs, the oldest stopped limping from arthritis & is doing well. I make paste & just eat it

I know someone who does it with quinoa. She mixes tumeric, cumin and paprika into the water with the quinoa. Then add roasted garlic after. She ate the quinoa blend with a lot of different combos one of which was sautéed spinach, portabella mushroom, cherry tomato and cashews.

Triple whammy for me. :* I also hate cumin and quinoa! But the spinach, mushroom and tomato part sounds delish.

Hope everyone is off to a very filling Summer.
