Damn you Gary!! I cannot stop thinking of leaving work early to get a donut. I've made karaoke songs in my head to such thoughts.
Oh I missed a donut conversation... Is it his Strava run of the day? How about some paczki's? I've never had 'em, but think I'd really like too! Gary, please bring the group some paczki's.
It is doughnut day today so it must be on Strava.
Here in Canada at Tim Hortons they were selling breakfast sandwiches on a doughnut instead of on a biscuit or English muffin.
I kind of shuddered when I saw the ad, tbh.1 -
I bought new shoes today. Tomorrow is "supposed" to be a rest day but I wanna try out my new toys... I can't be the only one who feels this way right?!8

None of that sounds good.
Bacon, in buttered cheap white sliced bread. I’ll take mine without brown sauce.0 -
@ctlaws44 Hope you got to leave the office early in the end! And good luck with your race tomorrow. I've never actually run a 5K race myself, and was mentioning to the group just yesterday that I should probably think about doing so.
First sweaty run of the month down...plenty more to go.

It is only 4:45 pm my time and we are already 5 pages in!
Goal for June:
Continue PT for Plantar Plantar fasciitis
50 miles for June – run/walk depending on foot
Incorporate speed work on Tuesdays each week (also dependent upon foot is feeling)
Two sessions of PT done for Plantar fasciitis, and so far it is improving
@RespectTheKitty – Glad you answered @girlinahat on running in a cemetery
Posted this in May thread, but posting here also:
@hanlonsk - Not sure about the Red Dress Run in NO - my kids go back to school that week, but I will consider if you do it. I am terribly slow, so you may not want me as your running buddy.

June 1st. Scheduled rest day, so zero miles for the month so far.
Tomorrow is a travel day. I might get a shakedown run in late tomorrow afternoon. Sunday is a half marathon.
I've made the executive decision that I will travel without my laptop. This decision is easier since my daughter convinced me to do the tedious labor of converting my filters in Thunderbird to be server-side in gmail. It also means I won't be following this forum for two days, because I can't handle the small cell phone screen plus the atrocious size and quantity of ads MFP pushes at me on conversational screens. So most likely, I'll be skipping a couple hundred messages when I get around to posting my first non-zero status of the month.
@Elise4270 - You missed the canonical answer to the question:
Q: How do you get into a locked cemetery at night?
A: With a skeleton key!
I've only needed to get into a locked cemetery twice, and unfortunately I neglected to bring a skeleton key both times. Once I stayed out, the other time the young guys with me talked me into scaling the gate.4 -
@ctlaws44 and @garygse - I have run a few 5Ks and they are my least favorite distance. I feel like it takes me too long to get going and about the time it feels ok it is over. I did run one last month as part of my training plan and ran about a mile warm up before the race and that really seemed to help. It also helped that it was right along the beach and nice and cool
@ctlaws44 - Good luck with your 5K kick some of those student interns' butts!
I am not much of a donut fan but if I had known I would have sent the hubby to SideCar donuts they are really the only ones I like.
@Elise4270 - so what exactly is a paczki? Maybe I would like it better than a donut.
@TattooedDolphinGirl78 - I got new shoes on Wednesday (they came unexpectedly fast!) and had to take them for a spin on Thursday!
Started the month out with a long run! Headed out pretty early while it was cool out. Around 5 miles I was SO hungry my stomach was complaining and my legs were starting to fatigue. I had my Skratch labs drops but as soon as I put some in my mouth I thought I was going to puke. Have never had that happen and have no idea why. I stopped and rested for a few minutes and then headed off again. When I got some water at the drinking fountain it happened again. I never actually got sick but boy it felt awful. At that point I was actually thinking about just walking home and cutting the run short but I pushed on and finished the 9 miles I had planned. Thinking how tired my legs were I suspect I probably would have felt better if I had rested today and gotten my long run in on Saturday instead even if it were hotter.
Date........Miles.......Total
06/01......9.45.......9.45

@shanaber That's not helping me stick to the plan.0

June goal is about 182 miles. This training plan ends right on June 30th with running a half marathon.
I’m starting June off with a bang logging 14 miles this morning! It was hot, but I fueled a lot yesterday and felt good heading out. My only goal was to run the whole 14 miles without walking and I did it. Pretty slow, but I was happy with it given how hot it was.6 -
Good luck on your HM @katharmonic! Niagara Falls sounds like it would be an awesome place to race.
Wishing you the best @ctlaws44 on breaking 20 minutes in your 5K. That is one of my bucket list items.
Oh, and sending out good vibes for my twin racing in the Derby HM in the UK on Sunday. He is in a foreign country and all alone, so wishing him the best!
And best of luck to anyone I missed racing this weekend. Hard to keep up (and it's only still June 1)!6 -
I am so frustrated right now... Ran around 5.5km this evening, stopped to look at my phone, and the stupid app had paused and said I ran 2km. it felt like a good run too. Now I can't upload it to Strava but it did happen I swear
MTD 5.5/6011 -

If Strava did not track the run, it did not happen. Sorry, you are out of luck, get back out there and try again.

@PastorVincent fineeee... I'll just have to do double tomorrow ... Not really though. I can't run that far... Yet.2

I once ate a $5 bill in front of a fellow homeless person to make a point. Later I would regret that point. That friend never forgave me. Moral: sometimes your principals aren't very good friends.5

I'm setting a running goal for the month of June of 50 miles !4

Scheduled rest day for me. I had fasting doc appointment today. Turns out it was for nothing. They only checked my iron. It was a *kitten*.
Got a chest xray. All good there. Overall healthy. Having a full blood panel done on the 11th to make sure theres no other issues. Sleep study appt in July. But its at 745 am so I think its like a consult. Looks like my issue may very well be the vocal chord dysfunction. So will work on treatment and have follow up in August.
Good news: Chompies had gluten free black and white cookies so I'm beyond ecstatic!5 -
First run in June: C25k week 7 completed!10

@ctlaws44 I tried to eat grass (not pot, as a kid). It was impossible to swollow it. Just gag it back up.
I can't see a bill would be any different. We should take a stand even if we are wrong. I'm wrong ALL the time. I still argue my wrong point of views because we gotta be thinking, not blindly accepting someone else's thoughts. No use in being a dispassionate slug.
Uh... I could be wrong. But it's my own original thought.
Respect.5 -
Setting my goal at 40 miles again this month and hoping the third time is the charm, since I ended up short in both April and May. I was tempted to go ahead and shoot for 45 miles, but I’ll be out of town at a conference most of next week and doubt I’ll get much running done then.4

6/1/2018 rest
6/2/2018 2.65 miles
Total 2.65 miles /80-85
Tried to push my pace a bit this morning to test. Did well, had to do my breathing exercises a couple of times. Went a little above my HR zones but I was still comfortable with the pace. Going to keep trying to breathe and get my speed back.
Does anyone have strava premium? Is it worth it? I keep thinking of getting it.3 -
6 easy (but not so easy...stupid humidity) miles with the group this morning. Tomorrow we are meeting to run at a local park. It will be half (likely muddy) trail and half paved path. I can't decide if I should wear trail or road shoes. I love my trail shoes, but I am not sure how well they will perform on the pavement.3

Hello everyone. I’m a runner and I’ve completed half-marathons as well as a one-day 28.3 mile hike. I am training for my first 50k in September and I’d love training advice.11

June 2: 5k very slowly in the midday heat! It's too darned hot to run at midday - we need to get better about getting up and out quickly in the mornings.

I have to figure out my goal for June. HM on the 23rd that I wasn't excited for until today. I had one of my best long runs in a while!! 10 miles that felt great. I'm practically certain my meniscus is NOT the problem and spent a lot of time this week foam rolling, doing some yoga, and psoas release exercises. Not totally perfect, but mind, body, soul and diet are ready for the next three weeks!6
-
6/1 - CROSS (walk, yoga)
6/2 - 10 miles
6/3 - REST2
