Hello all: I like my water room temperature most of the time. Only use ice on very hot days when I have been working outside. We are going to try to introduce Bandit to the girls today and see how they do. Hoping we can get them all together so we can rotate pastures and not use both at the same time. We also need to repair the goat fence to keep the critters in. They escaped 3 times this last week and are now shut in the dog run.
I asked for a new porch railing on the back porch for Mother's Day. Yesterday my son, DD and DGD built it. It looks really nice and I feel much safer with it there.
Katla - Hope you have a good ride. I am glad your DH is doing so well.
Katiebug - Sounds like things are coming along. Good for you.

Eight hours later, power's back on... first world issues, if there ever were. Sometimes, I feel terribly, terribly spoiled. Then I feel incredibly blessed... and then I forget all about it until the next time. Human nature, I s'pose.
Because the power was out, we went to a restaurant for breakfast, something we seldom do unless we're traveling. Got them to make me a mushroom, bacon and ham omelette with hollandaise... oh my word that was yummy. Guess I'll have to figure out how to make a low-fat hollandaise. Barely ate half of it, because it was so rich, but freakishly good.
Started a new website to tell the story of finding (and hopefully not losing) our dream house, renovating and fixing it up. I'll be posting pics up there of the whole journey from argh to mmmm, so I won't belabor it here.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR, happily back online4 -
Katla - I am so pleased that your DH has a new lease of life!
Something to look forward to can work wonders.
I don't know if news of the new MS drug has hit the US. It has been approved for use by the NHS and seems to have worked wonders for some people. It's only recently been approved over here.
I'm revising two languages at the moment, Spanish and Swedish for next year's cruises. Luckily they are different enough not to be confusing and my Spanish is already usable. In fact we will be spending more time in Denmark in 2019, but Swedish is widely understood and I can always learn a few vital phrases. Danish is more difficult to pronounce. The phrase I used most, apart from "two coffees please" was "I'm just looking" .

Rang up my youngest Navy son. Felt so good to hear his voice! God I miss that kid! Its been since last Christmas since I've seen him! He sounded well, waiting until he can get into rotation for a Operations Specialist school. He did apologize because he was really tired, waking up when everyone else in his room woke up this morning. He's doing some writing which is a good sign. He laughed, at silly stuff I was telling him, which means he's acclimating well. Still doesn't ever call us, which is ok. Honestly I don't think he really needs us anymore, which isn't a bad thing, it shows independence. My heart still hurts for him though.
Today eldest son sent cryptic message saying when he'd arrive home. Yeah! I told him tapioca pudding was in his immediate future. Haha!
Question. What do you ladies do when a relative doesn't make good on their word? Ok, my step sister has a bunch of pages showing her recently passed father and my mother, like when they met etc. I sent them to her for his funeral this last March. She said she'd sent it all back. Nothing. I have emailed her our new address, etc, and she has replied stating its by her door waiting to get packed up. That's as far as its gotten. I even told her a white lie stating I was making photo albums for each of the boys, and would really like those pictures back, since Grandpa Bob was really the only grandpa they knew. No response! Aack! Any suggestions? I have sent her an email that just says, I would really appreciate those pictures back.

Did a stretching DVD today. The plan for tomorrow is to do some hula hoop, hold my plank, then take the extremepump class.
Okie – you’re not a weirdo, I don’t mind my water room temp. Whenever we go out to eat, I usually order “water, no ice”. I just don’t care for something really cold. I’d rather have my tea (unsweet) room temp but not warm. I had some of the ice tea left from Rummikub that I was finishing, and I left it sit on the counter and didn’t have a problem at all drinking it
Made those skinnytaste turkey meatloaves for us to have later in the week. Actually, I made a double batch, I’m planning to cut some in half and just have half. I’ve really gotten to where lately I don’t want much meat. Which can be a problem when you go out to eat, they give you such a large portion! I don’t like getting a big, say, chicken breast. Many times I can’t bring half home with me because we’re far away from home. Does anyone ask for half the meat and the rest veges? There have been times when I’ve ordered two servings of veges. Barbie – what do you do?
M – it must have been so wonderful for you to have your husband home. I so admire you in all you’re going thru.
Rye – trust me, I’m worried for Denise, too. She’s moved away from her one and only friend. Why should she make friends down there when she has Maria? And to me that’s not exactly the greatest situation. Let’s face it, Maria is 57. Denise is 31. Not like they have a whole lot in common. Pete is focused on getting a house (I think part of it is that Maria feels that’s what should be done) and Denise is going along with what Pete wants. So she’s given up her friend, her job, taken a job waitressing. Yes, I’m worried but I also know that there isn’t much I can do except be there for her. If she were to want to move here (which I know will never happen), she’d be more than welcome, so would Pete. Well, I guess my knees are just going to continue to be sore from praying so hard.
Lisa – glad you have hot water. It’s a real bummer when you don’t have it.
Katla – I’m so happy for you
Carol – you SHOULD be proud of your gd. She looks fantastic
Hi Tracey! What is EMDR?

Hi Gals,
Kelly – Glad you stuck to your price; real friends do not take advantage of each other!!! I loved the video clip I think we are all each other’s jack-a-lopes
Katla – I’m so glad to hear about the change in DH between the food change, and fun in the RV to look forward to – it’s exciting to hear.
Barbie – if you go to a phone that is the same brand but different carrier ie: Iphone on AT&T to Iphone on sprint – they may be able to move everything even if it is a different model… worth checking at least.
Dana – how long are the grands with you?
Carol -Peach - how exciting that a 6 year old is going to states!
Listened to the carpool karaoke how amazing would it be to have Paul knock on your door!? Such a wonderful listen.
So I was listening to a pod cast and there was a discussion about decorator pillows – here in California we would call them “throw pillows” the guy on the pod cast was from Massachusetts and he called them “toss pillow” which sounded so weird, but then I got thinking about it and both names are a bit right and a bit weird – so my question is what are decorator pillows called in other places?
Smiles

Thank for all the input about our phone dilemma. There is a lot to think about and I don't want fear to keep me stuck where I am and I don't want to feel pressured to make a change that's not necessary. Tonight I told Jake that I'm not ready to make a decision. He's going to call the guy tomorrow and tell him we're still thinking.
Rebecca, Jake's grown kids frequently let him down. What he says is that you have to let it go and be more vigilant about what happens next time. He says don't lend things to your family that aren't willing to give them.

Sue: I missed my chance to ride today but there will be other days. I did take Arrow for a little jog. We both jogged side-by-side and he was on a slack lead line. I enjoyed the jog because it felt companionable. It was my fault I missed the riding opportunity. :ohwell:
Heather: Thank you for letting us know about siponimod! We haven't heard anything about it here and I suspect DH would love to look into it.
(((Becca))) Sorry your sister is not following through with promises. :grumble:
Michele & Kim: Thanks for your good wishes. There are still frustrations in life, but things seem to be generally getting better. :flowerforyou:
Kim: We're with you on the "throw pillow." Maybe it is a left coast term.
Barbie: I think Jake is smart about lending. It is tough to lend something with expectations of getting it back in as good condition as when it was lent, but for some of us getting it back at all is unlikely. Our kids live so far away that lending an item is unlikely. Lending money is another matter, and ends up being a gift rather than a loan. :ohwell:
Today was good and bad. We went to see the campsite where we will take our first RV trip over the 4th of July holiday. It looks good. I missed out on a riding lesson later in the day because DH & I went for a long walk and lost track of time. I didn't get to my lesson on time. That is so embarrassing. I apologized to my teacher and have been forgiven. I'm embarrassed, anyway.

Machka what an emotional roller coaster the home trial run must have been. So hard to keep on an even keel when hopes rush so high and reality melts down. Keeping you both in daily mindfulness.
Okie 2 weeks without power? :noway:
Rebecca Nipples and pain...OWWWW! At one time I was considering breast reduction surgery due constant upper back pain. My research and the project came to a screeching halt when I read that first they slice off your nipples...

Morning, all...
Kind of off-cycle from beginning each month on the 1st, as I started this re-dedication to the proposition of getting healthier and losing weight on January 24, but pleased to say I've lost nearly four pounds this month (after only two last month). I think it was Snowflake who was asking about how much you should try to lose weekly... and the answer still remains whatever you can stick with. I know that my body will snap back if I try to lose too much too fast. For my fellow numbers junkies, the graphs are below for this five-month journey so far. The overall goal seems to recede into the distance on occasion, but I went into it as a long-term thing, knowing that it would reasonably take me at least a year. So, I just do my best to take it literally one day at a time.
Am averaging now about one pound loss over every five to six days. I'm tracking to hit my first major weight-loss goal (150) at almost exactly the one-year mark from my start date. I know loss will slow down between now and then, so pretty relaxed about the end date on that. When I get there, I'll decide whether I wish to continue down to 135, which would put me in the "normal" BMI for the first time since I was 19 years old.
For those who don't know me, I had gastric bypass done in Sept. 2005, when I weighed 303 pounds, lost 99 pounds in the first six months after the surgery, and within the following year, hit my low of 137. Got divorced, remarried, happy, and the scale started inching back upward. The 217.9 point that I hit in January of this year was my highest since the surgery.
Anyway, for now, the most immediate goal is 164, which would put me at "overweight" instead of "obese." Working on getting to that by Thanksgiving.
Feeling pretty pleased, overall, with my journey from 217.9 pounds to 190.5:

Lisa great progress. Are you starting a new blog about the house, what's it called?
Off to the gym and then yard work, mowing and planting, before the weather turns very hot later in the week. What a rain storm we had yesterday!
