At orthopedic with Skip. Keep a good thought for her, he wants her to do an MRI on her one knee. There’s a line on the X-ray that he wants to double check. It might be a stress fracture.8

@skippygirlsmom - Prayers and good thoughts for Skip!

Wow. Hats off - that is rough work. The closest I've gotten to family law was reviewing termination of parental rights cases as an appellate clerk (maybe half a dozen over two years) and they were absolutely the hardest cases emotionally.1 -
@skippygirlsmom Good luck on that MRI...
@LaDispute57 rough business...especially when parents don't put the kid(s) first.1 -

I've represented myself pro se on cases and the judge even asked me if I was an attorney on a hearing over one of my motions. It went like this:
Judge: <my name>, are you an attorney?
Me: No, I am appearing pro se.
Judge: Oh, I see. Your motion was written very well, and I thought... hmm, ok.
<continued on with case>
Unfortunately, none of that helped anyway.5 -
@skippygirlsmom oh no! Poor Skip! But I have never heard of a stress fracture in the knee. Not saying that it isn't possible, but probably rare. Praying the xray was just an anomaly!0

This is my first time on this challenge thread and i love it I'm not a runner, but I'm committing to 160 miles this month... starting TODAY. So, I'm behind by 16 days.. i'm excited!5

Long run Monday. Most of this was a great run. Pretty much up to mile 11 and then it wasn't. It was too hot, too humid and I was not near any drinking water. At one point I knew I needed to sit down or I would be on the ground. I found a rock and sat there for a bit feeling like I could really throw up (didn't though). I walked and ran, when I felt I could, until I got to where the drinking fountain was. I felt a bit better after some warm water and some more energy chews. My legs were very tired and my calves and feet were cramping for the last couple of miles so I did mostly walk/run the rest of the way home. Got home and went directly into the pool, in my running clothes. The swim really helped even if the water was warm; it felt amazing!
Now to catch up on the 8... yes 8, pages of posts since yesterday!

@biketheworld - I did the Key West Half this past January and it was so fun. I want to do it again, but the date is a little later this year and it doesn't work out for me very well. Still tempted though.
@skippygirlsmom - hoping for good results from Skip's MRI.0 -

I hope you are kidding. Claiming NOT to be a runner and committing to 160 miles in two weeks? Your picture will be in the runner's dictionary under 'over-use injury'.
But I hope I am wrong. Good luck!0 -

So... 15 days left in the month... 160 miles... that means you plan to run 10.67... call it 11 miles a day, with no breaks? I hope you are not new to this running thing and making that plan. If you are... umm, I would suggest you rethink that. If not, then w00t! Go team go!

Welcome! 160 miles in 15 days is about 11 miles a day... I am thinking that could be a tad ambitious for a self-confessed non-runner. I have been running for about 7 years and 11 miles a day for two weeks straight without a break would damn near kill me... but then again I am old and creaky and you are young and not creaky. I would just hate to see you die the first two weeks you are here.7 -

@Scott6255 I should have explained more. He’s seeing a “line” below the growth plate near the bottom of the knee so that is that the tabia I think right? She was crying so much it was hard to listen to the doctor. The MRI is Wednesday but we go to her orientation right after so can’t see the doctor until Monday for results.5 -
Lily thanks you for all the get-well wishes!
@noblsheep Perhaps Timothy Leary could help you secure the LSD.....
@noblsheep - I think I have seen it as LSR (long slow run) never as LSD though. We don't have any ferns around here, too hot and dry. But there are turtles and rabbits - pretty sure I would be talking to them
@skippygirlsmom - that door wrap is awesome!
@amgreenwell - You might look into some hip and glue strengthening to help with the ITB.
@bride001 - have you tried using KT Tape and wrapping your foot? It may give it the extra support it needs as it heals.
@5BeautifulDays - I hate the treadmill too but have been using it for intervals when I know I can't do them in the heat. I found it is actually fun.
@gary_z - generally it takes a while to update because initially it is showing you what is cached. I am looking at it and it does show the 8.5 you expected.
@RunsOnEspresso - yes you win a popsicle! eat it quickly before it melts... oops sorry not fast enough
@RespectTheKitty - I am sorry you are so frustrated and sad. We will be here when you decide to come back but we will be missing you all along!
@LaDispute57 - I love free, well free anything but free running shoes! That is amazing!! I am going to have to look at this point thing you mention... I am on Amazon, and on Prime and but way too many things but points? Dunno about points...
@sarahthes - Happy Anniversary! Love that saying especially since many of my runs of late have felt like that!
@JuliaMacEwan - welcome and I agree with what the others have posted. Hoping your post was a typo and you aren't really trying to run 11 miles everyday for the next 2 weeks as a newbie!
@skippygirlsmom - oh no!!! Give her a big hug from us! I am hoping it isn't any kind of stress fracture or other issue and is just a shadow or something on the x-ray!
Welcome to all the new folks - there are so many of you to name individually but you are definitely all welcomed and encouraged to jump into the conversations!5 -
New here and a beginner. I am setting a very modest goal of 5 miles a week for July.13

Running challenge
1 July: 5.30 at 5:09 pace (race pace)
2 July: yoga
3 July: 7.01 at 5:45 pace
4 July: yoga
5 July: 12.66 at 5:50 pace (“unproductive" according to Garmin)
6 July: rest
7 July: yoga
8 July: 15.2 at 6:01 (slow and steady)
9 July: yoga
10 July: 6.0 at 6:02 pace (probably faster but I had a child on a bike in tow who kept needing a push - I certainly had to work harder) plus another 1.8km at about the same pace with similar issues getting the younger daughter to kindy.
11 July: yoga
12 July: 10.71 at 5:25 pace - when you’re short on time but you want to go long, you gotta go fast.
13 July: rest and pizza (and more pizza)
14 July: sneaky 6.7km to undo some of last night’s pizza damage followed by yoga. Great way to start a Saturday.
15 July: 16.51 at 5:55 pace. Building up to the Mt Maunganui Half on August 25.
16 July: yoga
17 July: 5.79 at 6:02, plus 3.9 at a similar pace dropping children off at kindy and so on.
91.58 of 150km for July5 -

Maybe it's 16.0 miles? Or she's related to @AlphaHowls
Welcome either way!4 -
@skippygirlsmom Hoping it's just a shadow and nothing more on the MRI, good luck!2
-
@biketheworld I was looking at some of the National Park races the other day and thought they sound like a nice run-cation!
@skippygirlsmom I hope Skip’s ok and that it isn’t as bad as it looks!
@LaDispute57 Free is always great!
@JuliaMacEwan Seriously, take it easy if you aren’t a runner. I’m hoping that was a typo.
