Well my phone is busted POS, damn thing won’t copy and paste anymore. Got in 7.6miles I think im now close 30mi for the month. Hopefully I can sleep tonight lol6

I usually don't run during the weekend but Runkeeper suggested the 5K challenge and the weather was pretty awesome, so I accepted Sunday morning and went for a 5.5Km run.
After that, I was unsure how to proceed with my regular Mo/Wed/Fri schedule and decided to run on Monday evening, which was a terrible idea. Usually, I go around 7 in the mornings, when it's cool, I'm full of energy and the route is pretty empty, except for runners and dog walkers. Since it's a lovely area next to the river, it was absolutely crowded with chilling people. And I was already groggy from the day and it was hot. I barely made my program and hated every second of it. Not even the scenic sunset could improve my mood.
Let's see whether tomorrow (first 8minutes interval w/o a break) is ok again or if this is really my limit at the moment and I need to repeat the current sets of 5 minutes intervals a few more times.
Btw. I went walking with my new shoes on Saturday and it definitely helped. We're still not best friends, but good acquaintances now

I actually was able to drag myself out of bed for an early morning run today - 11.02 miles. Nice and cool out, so pace was very good.

1.45 miles outdoors for 18.95 miles according to endomondo this month. Balmy 76F here and the humidity was a lot lower than I expected. HAPPY TRAILS! 👟❤5

@girlinahat I carry extra scrubs and extra workout gear (shoes included) in my car. I never what may happen at work or when the opportunity to workout might present itself!
@missevil When I started out, I just repeated the weeks until I could complete them and then moved on. I couldn't do C25K because it progressed too quickly for my skill level. I switched to John Bingham and he got me running. Now I do Hal Higdon for improving. YOU CAN DO IT!
This morning I saw a male cardinal in all his beauty and I raced a squirrel! It kept running back and forth with me.

Four miles on the treadmill last night bringing my July total to just over 28 miles. My new shoes are still feeling good which makes me happy.
I've signed up for an 8k in September which will raise money for the Martin Richard Foundation (Martin was the little boy killed in the Boston Marathon bombings). It's for a great cause and the race finishes on the Boston Bruins center ice at the TD Garden. My September race card is now looking very full with the 8k, a 5k and a 10k.

6.3 miles this morning. Didn't even feel like getting out of bed. But laced up and went out anyway, just trying to put one foot in front of the other. Ended up negative splitting each mile (except for mile 5), and felt better at the end than the beginning. Funny how running does that to a person.

@shanaber – You don’t carry water with you on your runs? I can’t imagine going out for a 13-mile run (especially in the summer) without my trusty water bottle!
@missevil – Even though your evening run was rough, it’s good to change things up. Not every run will be a good run. It’s the bad ones that make us appreciate the good ones!

I've got a 7 mile trail race this evening but rain is in the forecast for most of the day. Wet trail I don't mind particularly although I will have to slow down even more for the slippery rocks but if it is storming at gun time, they will cancel the race entirely.5 -

I need to make up so time at work so I got in early today so I didn't run. Thanks for all the well wishes and good thoughts for Skip. She is pretty much inconsolable right now. I told her don't worry 6 to 8 weeks and she will be fine, she scared to lose her scholarship, I told her that won't happen she is not the first athlete to come to school injured, she feels she let her coaches down, I said they are not let down they will only be concerned about you and your health. I told her even IF she needed 8 weeks off she could still run this season in the last meet or two. She just looked at me. Guess that didn't help. Anyway, even though her appointment is Monday I'm going to call the doctor on Thursday afternoon to see if he'll tell me over the phone. The other option is to have the trainer call him. I'm trying to give her worst case scenarios so she is braced for the worse. She sent me a text while I was typing this, on the way to gym I can do elliptical and do core work. That's my girl.10 -

Today was one of those runs where the entire run felt like the warm up. Legs were slow and heavy for the first 3.5km. It wasn't even all in my head - I had negative splits. Anyway, got it done while the air was still relatively cool. We are still under a heat advisory. Going to be pushing 30C again later today with storms tomorrow.

Last week I complained that my “easy” 5K didn’t feel especially easy and got into this whole headspace comparing myself to other people. Thankfully many of you fine folks gave me the gentle kick in the butt I needed to shake myself out of it, and since then I’ve really tried to focus on running my own race, not anyone else’s. As a result my average pace is down maybe a minute/mile from the end of June and beginning of July, but I’ve now had two pretty great runs over 3 miles without needing to walk at all, and that feels pretty awesome.
I think I got caught up in chasing that sub-10 minute mile and lost track of why I'm running - because it's fun and good for me and makes me feel great! And something that occurred to me this morning too was that, if I have to compare myself to other people, I should consider myself lucky because as I was falling asleep last night I remember thinking “I get to run tomorrow!” and not a lot of people can or would say that. Because they're not bonkers banana-pants.

A big part of my problem here is definitely that I worry about people judging me because I'm a judgy kitten myself.

This is so true. I never put my pace down because I don't care one tiny bit what it is. I just like the discipline and the challenges of running, especially longer distances. I am slow AF and I don't give AF. I like training for races a thousand times more than running the race itself. When I do race, I start at the very back and start dead last so I can run the race by myself at whatever pace feels good. My brother says I am a dysfunctional anti-social zen runner. I kinda like that.

You totally hit on all the points that run through my mind whenever running. You literally plucked the thoughts right out of my brain, because I have the same feelings on the subject. I'm trying harder to just focus on my running and not be deterred by the others around me......though I think it's the competitiveness in me that continues to think those thoughts. HAHA.
It's a continual process for me to tell myself to focus on me, the only person that matters in this race and stop paying attention to everyone else. XD5 -
I'm coming in middle of the month-ish.. I can do 30 miles from now until the end of July, for sure. I will still try for 40 or 50 though. :-)9

Treadmill this morning because of thunderstorms. Got in just 3 miles before my circuit training class. Funny how I always mean to get there earlier and get more time in. Especially hard to get moving when it's dark and stormy out and staying in bed is too inviting.

Now even after the 16 milers, I don't feel as satisfied as I did back then. But as I start training for my first full marathon, I hope to get that sense of accomplishment and pride back.

14 days and 31 miles to go, I can and will make this happen. Short run this morning felt pretty good, with no gait issues due to blister on ball of foot. Shooting for daily runs for the next 2 weeks, be they fast slow or middling I just want to get out there.

I went back through my notes and I can't find the first time I ran over 3 miles without needing to stop - apparently I've been better about noting my struggles than my successes - not a big surprise there. I know I didn't walk at the 5K on July 4th but I'm pretty sure I'd managed it before. This past weekend was definitely my first long run without any walking in three or four weeks. It really does feel like something clicked when I decided to slow down again.7 -
