Hey all!
so missed out on a lot! not much to report, I am feeling better and managed to get out for a gentle 5k this morning. I definitely felt better after that! I'm just ticking along really. Ive done 71/90km now. really flying through this though now I can see how an illness or something can set a goal back a bit.7 -
So, today was one of those days. Mentally needed the run. Physically wanted nothing to do with it. Realistically the only reason I did the run, was I couldn’t justify complaining about how fat I feel at the moment if I didn’t.
So, 2.2 today = 25.2/5011 -
No run today, but by choice. Went for a 4.5-mile walk with the wife.10

Humidity was much better tonight. Started the run around 7 PM and the plan was to do the out and back with mile of the trail. I went one way and my husband went the other down the trail so we met somewhat in the middle. He was ahead of me and mentioned that he had turned off and had done a circle along the old retaining ponds in town. I suggested we finish out by there as I was struggling a little bit and figured if we could get the three miles in out there we could walk home. The pond trail was a grass path, so different to run on and took me right back to my old XC days.

Quickie tempo run in between thunderstorms. I think I'm just very bad at the heat thing. Garmin says it was 26 degrees out (79F) and all of the sudden I was running 6 minute kms. Huh.

AAAAGGGGHHHH!!!
So there I am determined to get a run in this morning. Last night finally figured out that the leaden fatigue feeling I've had is the start of a migraine, so take some meds but still think I can handle a run in the morning (I have silent migraines that mostly give me the nausea, wiggly eyes and stomach cramp symptoms with just a dull headache).
3.30am I wake up, pretty alert and considering getting up then, assessing work situations in my head, when the phone rings and I get an alarm call out.
So here I am, 5.30am, been at work for an hour (no point in going back home) thinking I should've bought my running kit with me.
Is it going too far to consider having an emergency running bag packed for such situations?10 -
@girlinahat I sometimes do that for work. Pack a bag with the intention of running home if the stars align.
I've updated my vlog - walk & talk this time. Link below the cut.
In tonight's episode of It's A Small World, I was messaging with the director of my trail 10K asking about places to run in the area since I'll be in the middle of beautiful BC and the treadmill just seems like a waste.
To make a long story short she is camping beside my parents this week and now she and my mom are taking selfies and sending them to me.
I adore the running community. Instant friends wherever you go.14 -
Whew, got to end of new msgs! Yea! 24 hours and 167 down Lol.

I usually don't run during the weekend but Runkeeper suggested the 5K challenge and the weather was pretty awesome, so I accepted Sunday morning and went for a 5.5Km run.
After that, I was unsure how to proceed with my regular Mo/Wed/Fri schedule and decided to run on Monday evening, which was a terrible idea. Usually, I go around 7 in the mornings, when it's cool, I'm full of energy and the route is pretty empty, except for runners and dog walkers. Since it's a lovely area next to the river, it was absolutely crowded with chilling people. And I was already groggy from the day and it was hot. I barely made my program and hated every second of it. Not even the scenic sunset could improve my mood.
Let's see whether tomorrow (first 8minutes interval w/o a break) is ok again or if this is really my limit at the moment and I need to repeat the current sets of 5 minutes intervals a few more times.
Btw. I went walking with my new shoes on Saturday and it definitely helped. We're still not best friends, but good acquaintances now

Hey... a bunch of Garmin watches are on sale today only: on Amazon Prime Day
If you were thinking of one of these, it might be a good day to act.7 -
I actually was able to drag myself out of bed for an early morning run today - 11.02 miles. Nice and cool out, so pace was very good.

1.45 miles outdoors for 18.95 miles according to endomondo this month. Balmy 76F here and the humidity was a lot lower than I expected. HAPPY TRAILS! 👟❤5

@girlinahat I carry extra scrubs and extra workout gear (shoes included) in my car. I never what may happen at work or when the opportunity to workout might present itself!
@missevil When I started out, I just repeated the weeks until I could complete them and then moved on. I couldn't do C25K because it progressed too quickly for my skill level. I switched to John Bingham and he got me running. Now I do Hal Higdon for improving. YOU CAN DO IT!
This morning I saw a male cardinal in all his beauty and I raced a squirrel! It kept running back and forth with me.

Four miles on the treadmill last night bringing my July total to just over 28 miles. My new shoes are still feeling good which makes me happy.
I've signed up for an 8k in September which will raise money for the Martin Richard Foundation (Martin was the little boy killed in the Boston Marathon bombings). It's for a great cause and the race finishes on the Boston Bruins center ice at the TD Garden. My September race card is now looking very full with the 8k, a 5k and a 10k.
