@Elise4270 Awesome result on your duathlon and a great write-up, you rock! Your double portion of food was well earned! 👍
@joannedrummond5 Congrats on your half, and a great time!
Rest day for me, spent sweating in the back yard fixing sprinkler heads. I did get to find out who's been stealing the pears from my pear tree though.

So . . . you Lost Trails to Power?
Wow. So inside, but yes I guess you can say that1 -
@Elise4270 killed it today! I am fat and super slow but finished and didn't die. Thanks for meeting us for dinner! You don't owe us anything. It was a pleasure to hang for a bit.
I felt a lot like Elise (her write up is better) I placed 1st in the Athena class for the duathlon but the registration didn't get transferred to the time chipping people. They already announced the other person behind me. I brought it up, but didn't want to take away from her. The race people were super nice about it.
I did fall getting on my bike (clipped into the pedals and wasn't going quick enough) and then fell again trying to get my shoe on in transition. So I'm a little bit sore. Not hurt, just sore.
Next triathlon is Oct. Hopefully @Elise4270 and Eric and can make it down. Anyone else? I've got room!18 -
@shanaber I don't want to steal @seanevan10 's thunder in case she wants to share her race report. She did get 1st in the athena group.
She does, btw, have the cutest 8 year old twin boys. Smart little guys!. Oh how I miss the innocent days.
Thank you so much! They are so very smart and quite a handful.2 -
@seanevan10 Eric has a Scottish rite meeting thing that weekend. But I don't. It is the weekend after my quarter marathon, but I don't think thatd keep me from doing it. I just have to check the work schedule, if I'm on call I have to stay local.
October triathlon in Keller Texas anyone?
ETA girl we are all fat and slow. (Ya ya I know some of "us" arent) But we're dam faster than our old selves we left on the couch!5 -

Well, we will miss Eric, but we would love to have you! You can have your own room for the weekend!2 -
So, between storms and business when I went home this weekend, I haven’t ran since Monday. I did go out tonight, despite it still being stupid hot. 5.2 miles of run 3 walk 2 intervals. Was hoping to find a trail head someone told me about instead of my usual out and back from the hotel.... yeah, I found one item on my directions... and that’s where my luck stopped. So, my run is kind of a drunk looking route... but I did go as far as I was hoping for.
My runs have been limited lately by my one water bottle belt. My camelback was a casualty of my fluid living arrangements. It was in a box that got wet/full of water and very moldy due to a mishap in storage. I was contemplating holding off a replacement until I have a steady address again. But today I bribed myself with ordering a new one if I actually lived thru 5 miles with one bottle of water.
So, with the help of miss @JessicaMcB I have joined the wunjo /apocalypse ready runner gang. New pack ordered!!
5.2 today = 30.4/509 -
Question to start the week - What did you buy on Amazon Prime Day?
I bought a 20lb Kettlebell, a cheap pair of wireless headphones that work surprisingly well and a pair of Adidas Cloud Form shoes - not sure if I will run in them but they are really, really comfortable!. I put them on after my longish run on Saturday and my feet were so happy Could be recovery shoes, training shoes, running shoes or just walking around shoes but in any case I really like them and they were really inexpensive!6 -

50lbs down since January!
So glad to have that large bag of dog food off my back!
I’m still 20 days behind my goal pace to lose 100lbs by Dec 31, but now that I’m in better physical shape,
It will be interesting to see how more activity plays against harder fat loss as I get closer to goal weight.
Now maybe considering a 5k trail race in Sept. Need to do some elevation work and decide.
Seven toes with bandaids atm which also affects the decision
Still pumped tho18 -
Woke up early this morning for what was supposed to be 11 miles. Legs and knees still sore and in pain from yesterday's long run. Those shook out quickly enough, but I also had some GI distress. I'm not sure if I ate too much last night, or (more likely) it was because the steak I ate was over-cooked. That was my fault. Anyway, I got 6.2 miles done and will see how I feel for the last 5 miles tonight.

@shanaber After getting my new Merrell Trail Glove 4s for free last week on Amazon Prime, I still had points, so this morning I ordered a bunch of Tailwind, a pair of running sunglasses, and to indulge my other passion, four copper skillets with lids.... after using up my points, I had to shell out $17.89.8
-
@midwesterner85 Good luck with your run today... hope you feel better. At the risk of TMI, after my long run on Saturday, I must have dehydrated a bit even though I thought I was drinking plenty, because yesterday I had an alarming amount of blood in my urine all day. It made for an uncomfortable run yesterday since I had to stop 9xs during 5.5 miles. (Glad I live in the country). Anyway, it appears to have resolved itself around 4:30 this morning, but I am glad today is a rest day... and I hope the issue was related to my run and nothing else.6

I have an extra bag of Berry TailWind. I need to give it away. Stuff and I do not get along. Do you ever get down to Southside? I could bring it to work and have it there if you want it.1 -
@PastorVincent I work in Butler, but I get down your way periodically... my tattoo artist is in Lawrenceville too... but I could easily drive down just to introduce myself formally and get Tailwind... I am leaving on vacation Friday, so maybe we can do it when I get back... Thank you!0

5 slow, hot, sweaty miles this morning. Legs felt like I was wearing ankle weights.
@PastorVincent Yay! Glad you are in the house. Now the real work begins
@elise4270 and @seanevan10 Way to go on your Duathlon. Both placing in your AG! You guys are awesome!!!
@jele30 Congrats on your (and husbands) 5K. You should be happy with those times.
@Orphia that run looked amazing!
@skippygirlsmom so glad Skip probably doesn't have a stress fracture. She sounds like she has a great coach and is surrounded by a lot of good people.
Congrats to all who raced this weekend that I missed. I am very far behind. Had kind of a traumatic weekend. Saturday evening after we had family over for dinner, our air conditioner went out! So this is about 8pm, and it is still 104F outside. Had to suffer with the heat overnight, so didn't get ANY sleep. Had to get up at 5am to drive 1 1/2 hours to my sisters to work on her house, scraping popcorn ceiling, tape and bedding, fix dishwasher, etc.. Wife got a hold of an a/c repairman that promised to come out at 5pm Sunday. I got back home around 6pm, and he still wasn't there. Meanwhile, it was 111F outside, 92F inside. He shows up at 6:30, and replaces the starter capacitor and gone in 10 minutes. It took until 11pm to get the house back down to 79F, but that felt glorious.

@PastorVincent GFI - Nicely done sir. I should have made this suggestion when you first mentioned the requirement to install them. When replacing plugs we now install them with the gnd prong to the top - what most people would consider upside down. In Alberta there is no electrical code on the orientation of plugs.
The reason/logic is there was an incident(s) where a young child was playing with the metal parts from one of those Mechno Toy sets and dropped it while holding it against the wall. It landed on top of a cord that was not fully plugged in - so it bridged the Hot and Neutral creating a high current short circuit. The circuit breaker in the main panel was faulty and overrated (40 amp) for the circuit so it did not trip. They could have lost a child to electrocution and nearly lost the house to fire. A 2nd incident where a child dropped a penny and it bridged. It's a rare occurrence requiring multiple faults - bad breaker, cord not fully inserted and metal object bridging the plug. Mounting the plug with the Gnd up eliminates/reduces the chance of this rare event happening, and GFI's should eliminate it. I now have a GFI on the first outlet on each circuit in my house so it protects all the secondary outlets on that circuit.
GFI's are cheaper than Arc Detector circuit breakers and provide the same or even bettor protection.
Enjoy the new house it looked great in the pictures.3 -

The required ones were in the kitchen and outside. Those were done by a licensed/bonded/etc electrician to make the bankers happy. The ones I am doing now are because my equipment needs them in my office and elsewhere. Eventually I will do them all, but for now just the ones I need.
I oriented them like I did on purpose. Too many plugs will cover the bottom outlet if plugged in upside down. These are 15amp GFCI plugs on a 15amp circuit. That is probably enough protection
I have 3 more to do. The electric box is unlabeled so finding the breaker involves lots of walking up and down stairs. So I guess that counts as cross training.5 -

Happy Monday everyone!
So this morning's run was ugly. There was nothing good about today's run other than I got out of bed and put one foot in front on the other until it was over. I'm don't know why my run today was so awful, but you can't have a good run every time you step foot out the door. So, eh. Just going to put this one out of sight out of mind.
Hope everyone has a great start to the week!

UGh, @Scott6255 that sounds miserable. Glad you finally got things cooled down.
@RunnerGrl1982 - yeah, sometimes they just go like that. Hope it makes the next one feel awesome for you.

Really humid out there again this morning, although a decent breeze. I couldn't believe how dripping with sweat I was when I got home. I had no route in mind today and kind of wandered around, which was good for the novelty of it but turned out to be hillier than I really wanted.
Speaking of churches, I ran past this church on my route and just as I stepped down on the sidewalk in front of it, the bells chiming the hour went off loudly. It nearly scared the pants off me and I thought for a minute it was some kind of heathen detection alarm I set off.

Weight training today, no run. Had a difficult time getting motivated to get out of bed this morning. Then got to the gym and found my headphones had died, charged them overnight and they still wouldn't turn on. Ordered new ones and they should be here tomorrow, not in time for my run but will be able to use for Wednesday's. Run then trainer tomorrow. Thanks to all of ya'll that suggested Nip-eaze for chafing, my nipples appreciate every mile with them8
