16 July: yoga
17 July: 5.79 at 6:02, plus 3.9
18 July: 7.19 at 5:39 and yoga as well
19 July: 10.38 at 5:50 pace.
20 July: 7.39 at 5:39 pace.
21 July: 6.84 at 5:50 pace. Also yoga.
22 July: 16.03 at 5:58 pace.

24 July: 7.01 at 5:40 pace, although actually, the first three k were around 6 minute pace, the next three around 5:30 and the final one was a 5 minute sprint. Don’t know whether to credit the fast finish to my rest day yesterday, the hour of yoga and hour of self-massage on my super-tight hips, or my new shoes. Maybe a magic combination of all three?!
146.42 of 150km for July10 -
A day behind in posts... I TRIED to read them all but somehow missed this prime day question... I spent WAY too much. WAY TOO much. New backpack, Ring Doorbell, UPSs, and so much more. It is not even all arrived yet!
No run today... more house paperwork mess. Been living here three days now, and still have not closed because bankers are being... well... bankers. They keep asking for more paperwork.4 -
@seanevan10 AHHHH omg so exciting for you!!
I skimmed the posts, way too far behind to keep up. I got nothing from Amazon because they dont like kiwis lol
Went for a 5k this morning, with the intention of doing what I felt would be a race pace and averaged 5:37 min/km!!! I'm absolutly stoked with that. and was definitely race pace, I probably could have done a 6th km but not much more. Then stretches and broke out the foam roller. Oh man that thing hurts!
Question, I've been getting a bit of discomfort in my medial calve insertion, sort of the inside next to achillies tendon (dont know the actual anatomy, probably should given my job but I know bones, not muscles!). its been slowly getting worse to the point it was tender last night. it doesn't bother when running, only when walking. So this morning I made a point on really stretching well, and rolling on that area - OUCH. its been a couple of hours now and is defiantly better, only a niggle that I occasionally notice when walking. I'm trying to stretch again throughout the day. Should I take a few days rest, or just make sure I stretch better in the future? My gut is this is related to not stretching well enough my last couple of runs - ive been battling small child as soon as I get home, so my stretches got a bit half arsed...5 -

A bit warm today...91F at 3:30am, yay. Still, the relatively low humidity with the dew point in the 60s meant I could end the run in good shape, as opposed to just being the hot mess I've been when the DP was in the mid 70s.
On the downside, all the water fountains have now been fully connected up to the hot water supply instead. A little warmer and the things will begin to toot like kettles when you press the button.

Had to be at work at 7:30 so a quick 3. Took Skip to orthopedic for follow up and great news no stress fracture! I burst out crying. I felt like a jerk but we’ve known this doctor for 5 years and he said I love happy tears. She has patella tendinitis in both knees and tendinitis in her quad. 4 weeks of PT. She’ll be able to get in 3 before she leaves, her first appointment is Wednesday. He told her to start taking glucosamine every day to help her joints. In the right menacus he saw a little “wear” but said that’s normal in teenage girls. All in all it was good news.
The weather has cooled off a bit here and it’s nice. Sorry for you folks in Texas. My family from all over Texas are posting the temperature.

Thanks @scott6255 @avidkeo and @PastorVincent I’ve never been so happy to hear the words tendinitis before.5

No run today after yesterday’s long run. I’m not nearly as sore as I thought I’d be, and I’m not having any knee pain, so yay.
I go on call again later this week, so after tomorrow it will probably be all treadmill runs so I can stop and deal with issues easily.5 -

@skippygirlsmom Yes wild cheering from your MFP friends ( Skips Phantom 2nd Family )
First day back to work after vacation. the normal 150 e-mails and 50 Work orders for faulty equipment.
It was close to noon by the time I had cleared the junk - replied to the priority work orders. Then 1 of the e-mails from my manager advised me that I was booked into a course in Edmonton for tomorrow so I had to go home and pack a suitcase, reserve hotel and start driving 5 hrs. So naturally the first thing in my suitcase was running gear.
Of course since I have multiple Running retailers available I Stopped at Mountain Equipment Co-op and bought some Salomon Speed Cross 4 Trail Shoes as I haven't been able to find anything in my local community stores that work for me. Also picked up 2 pairs of the Darn Tough Socks as @MobyCarp has given rave reviews for them. They seem to be similar to the Smart Wool Ski Socks that I use in the winter.
@sarahthes Drove over to Hawrelak Park and hit the Multi user ( Bikes, Runners & Walkers) bush trails along the riverbank heading south from Hawrelak towards the Quesnel Bridge and continued all the way to the Snow Valley Campground. I had to take my new shoes for a test run before I left Edmonton in case they didn't work for me - Right?? About 4km of it from Hawrelak to Quesnel was fantastic narrow rough twisty bush bashing mud puddle splashing that I got to run through twice. The rest varied from twin track to graveled 2m/6ft wide.
Preferred the narrow single track. The Bikers were great as they were hammering the bells all the time so you could hear them coming way before you could see them and they would let you know how many were in the group so zero conflicts/accidents. Which considering how little visibility there is says a lot about the "Spirit of The Trail". I seen a few little trails breaking off the main trails and they were oh so tempting - next time maybe.
12.73 km tonight with 198m of rolling hills- about 1km to long as I just fell a part in the last 2 km. Bad case of traveler legs.9 -
SHE DID IT!!! Met my friend today and ran for 30 minutes without stopping. She was convinced she was going to have to tell me to just leave her along the side of the road somewhere, and seemed surprised that she finished actually feeling fine. I had told her last week that she didn't actually need the one-minute walk break in the middle anymore, because at that point it was more of a mental break. I don't think she believed me - but then new distances or times always seem impossible until after we've done them, don't they?
I'm feeling yesterday's track workout for sure - a great feeling, as I'm imagining it as the speed getting into my legs.
Upcoming races:
August 18 Chmielakowy Half Marathon (Krasnystaw)
August 26 Kolbudy 10k, Bąkowo (Kashubia)18 -

@skippygirlsmom HURRAH!
what did I buy on Prime day? Well, months ago I paid (lots) for a Blue Splash Maran hen. Wanted one because they have fuzzy legs and lay almost black eggs. She, unfortunately, turned out to be a he....so I bought an egg incubator, thinking perhaps HE might pass on some black egg genes....
Ticker is my goal for 2018 and progress to date:

Thanks for the help @mbaker566 and @polskagirl01! I will use it in the future!
@LaDispute57 - LOL - yes! The enticement for me is getting to run in Lambeau but a nice trail run or other race in the area would be fun too - just not sure how far I could run in Greenbay in July though!
@garygse - I am pretty sure you are sending your hot weather this way! I am with you on the drinking fountains... hot water is so disgusting and I am thinking to bring a tea bag with me on my next run
@skippygirlsmom - YAY!!!! I love @juliet3455's description of Skips Phantom 2nd family!
@polskagirl01 - congratulations to your friend and great job coaching her!
@HonuNui - my daughter had chickens and she would feel so bad when one of them turned out to be a rooster. As they were technically within the Seattle city limits they weren't allowed to have them I hope you get your black eggs!! I had no idea that there was such a cost for certain types of chicks and that chicken shows and bloodlines are such a big deal until I met someone who was into 'showing' her hens as well as her dogs!
Well over 90 here today and supposed to be over 100 tomorrow with Wednesday the hottest day of the week. It is also humid (for us) - 65-70%! Yuck! Even at the beach it will be over 80 by 8am tomorrow. We are planning on going to the dog beach in the morning but may not stay long if it is that hot. Even at agility class tonight it was mid 90's at 7pm and the pup is completely wiped out.8 -
@skippygirlsmom YAY on the no stress fx.
1.25 this morning with a PR for the mile of 9:46. First sub-10 minute mile in a loooong time. Totals so far 30.3 outdoor per endomondo and 5.2 dreadmill for 35.5/50 for the month.4 -

Not sure, but since stretching seems to have helped, I would try that and watch it for a few runs. If things continue to improve, then I would just roll with it. If not, than might want to talk to a PT about it.

@mbaker566 – There are people who don’t enjoy puppy pictures? That’s just crazy!
@shanaber – I’ve heard of Skratch Labs but have not tried their products. I hate NUUN! A friend of mine that I ran with this weekend uses Liquid IV as a hydration supplement. I ordered some yesterday to try.
@polskagirl01, @5BeautifulDays (and others) – For me, church can be any place. We traditionally think of church as a building where we go dressed in our finest, sit on a hard pew and listen to someone interpret the Word for us. Worship can occur outside in His creation just as it can occur within four walls. Just my two cents! Congratulations to your friend with her 30 minute run – so good of you to stick with her and train alongside with her!
@seanevan10 – Congratulations on this past weekend and your volunteer opportunity!
@garygse – Looking at your temperatures, I’m really regretting not taking advantage of mine and running this morning. It was a mere 65F here at 6:00 am!
@skippygirlsmom – Yay for the good news on Skippy!
@workaholic_nurse – Congrats on your mile PR!

for those who need more than running into the epic lambeau field...looks like cliff runners 10k was sunday of the same weekend. devil's lake and nearby mirror lake are popular day trip locations. and have nice trails
up by green bay there are a few natural areas. to the south is high cliff which is pretty darn cool.

Thank you all so much for the happy comments about Skip. @juliet3455 what a sweet comment! I was texting after her doctor’s appointment to my friend who is a doctor and Skip said “are you putting the MFP family that I’m okay” ha ha
@AprilRN10 we are running twins this month
@polskagirl01 congrats to your friend, that is awesome! I remember when I ran one whole mile I cried.
@HonuNui I gotta say I didn’t buy one of those on prime day ha ha!!
@shanaber I hope you all get some cooler weather soon

I had a great 4.8 mile run this morning. We had a "cold" front come in last night so my run this morning was less hot than it has been lately. I don't know if I would go so far as to say cool, but it was nice. I forgot my water this morning and I thought I might not even need it. But I decided since I was running past my office I would run in and get a bottle of water from the fridge. It was nice and cold too. Usually the water in my flip belt bottle is kind of warm when I drink it. When I was at the park I said good morning to an older man that I see walking everyday. He asked me if he saw me running across town. I said yes and he told me how impressive that was and it just really made me feel good. He sees me when I cross the highway because he lives near there and walks to the park. I told him that I thought that was pretty impressive too and we both told each other to keep up the good work.
@skippygirlsmom I'm so glad that it's not a stress fracture.
@polskagirl01 Congrats to your friend!

There is one magical water fountain that dispenses cold water on my regular running route. Finding it was like finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. It was practically a religious experience. I usually dump a whole bottle of amazing COLD water on my head before refilling my water bottle. All the kids at the playscape next to the fountain get jealous when their moms won't let them play in the magical water fountain too.12 -
It's yucky here in Calgary today and my husband remembered baby wipes so I'm currently dressed in running kit for our road trip and will run mid-journey. Maybe Lake Louise.
@juliet3455 I think I'm running that section of the river valley trails for MEC race 4. Next time you are in town check out the Edmonton Trail Runners FB page. They do group runs a few times a week. Once I'm done my half marathon in August I'm planning to start doing the Saturday Snakes & Ladders runs with them since it's at social pace and I'm a turtle.3
