@shanaber Congrats to you and your daughter on a great race!
And congrats to everyone that ran, regardless of whether goals were achieved or not.
@ariceroni While your foot may not be getting any worse, taking pain killers may be masking things, and is a good way to make any injury worse. Get it seen to and let an expert tell you what your best course of action should be. I talk from experience - I did the same thing and wound up with a stress fracture that put me out of action for a couple of months.
The weatherman promised me rain this morning. I was lied to. I really wanted that rain.

@ariceroni I have a similar foot niggle. I only notice it in the AM or if dh squeezes my foot. My doc thought it was a Morton's neuroma. MRI and no neuroma. I think i have a bit of chronic tendonitis there. It hurts/feels good to rub.
Good luck with it, i second @garygse 's advice.1 -
@rheddmobile super PR
Ha ha @PastorVincent that signup button calls all our names. I signed up the final race in our trail series. Honestly he’s trying to kill me this race director
@juliet3455 sorry your run was non run, I have to admit the thought of you sliding in the mud did give me a chuckle
@AprilRN10 sorry for the clinical mess, hope it all works out for you. Great month of running!
@shanaber I can’t believe there were NO porta potty earlier in the race. So proud your girl’s PR, that is just simply amazing!!! Love the pictures of the two of you. Thanks for setting up August
@girlinahat some time off never hurts when you are losing motivation. Come back if you change your mind. You’ll be missed
Oh @mbaker566 I can feel your pain, I’m so sorry about the ants, it is HORRIBLE. Hope they didn’t get you too bad.
@ariceroni I agree with @garygse

GUESS WHAT? CHICKEN BUTT! Err, no that is not what I mean to say... what I meant was...
I finally got a run in! I snuck out of work at lunch and slipped in 7 miles at 8:57 pace. Short run for me, but still greater than 0.23 -

I had a pretty good run this morning. It was a lot cooler at 73F, but it was 95% humidity and the dew point was around 70 so as the run went on it started feeling more difficult. It was nice to be in the low 70s though and tomorrow should be nice too. It's only 89F right now which is really nice for August in Texas. Today has been my busy day at work, so I haven't had a chance to catch up on the thread but I wanted to go ahead and post my last run for July. I'm surprised that I was 10 miles over my goal. I'll really have to think about my goal for August. See you all in the August thread!

It was a great run yesterday. Overcast sky with temperature in the 70's. I had a hard time getting started because the sudden drop in temperature affected my mood. However, I was glad that I ran because mood was so much better afterward.
Met goal for the month! Congratulations to all who have met their goals this month.
Will try to catch up with reading posts on my lunch break. I am working the next 3 nights.

I found out today it’s almost exactly 2 miles to the high school track. The school was built about 4 years ago and it’s beautiful. The track is amazing, so bouncy! I enjoyed myself even though I was soaking wet from sweating so much. 80 degrees and very humid, but thankfully overcast. I walked the last mile home because I was beat!
Finished July at 150.93 miles. My goal was 147 so I just made it 🙂

I think we should all plan on meeting @ContraryMaryMary in Fiji to run with her there in a couple of weeks
Also @noblsheep - with an offer like that be prepared for lots of MFP friends showing up to run in the Forbidden City or on the Wall! I will definitely let you know when I am heading that way (we actually do have it on our list to visit)!!
@ariceroni - also agree with @garygse. Additionally painkillers (even over the counter Tylenol, Aleve, etc..) can do damage to your body when you add the stress of running. They can be really tough on your kidneys and of course your stomach.
Oh there were porta potties available early in the race (start, mile 1, mile 3 or so...) @skippygirlsmom. I just didn't need them then and when I did then there weren't any.
@PastorVincent - great job on the CHICKEN BUTT err.. getting a run in
I'm sorry I am so far behind on everyone's posts. To everyone who ran or raced this weekend Congratulations! Also great job to everyone who got out and ran in our crazy weather wherever you are!
One final update for me to close out July! Got in a short, slow, hot recovery run. 92F feels like 94F. My legs were not happy so I stopped a little over a mile out to stretch. Everything is still pretty tight but better after the run than before. Tomorrow I will start the month with a rest day (boo) but plan on a good foam roll session!

Also, this was my first run in my new Old Navy shorts! Generally speaking they worked out great: love the length, love the feel, and the pockets (two!) were actually big enough to hold a house key, spare buff, and plastic card-holder with my ID and $20, and I completely forgot they were there. One big downside: the plum color I got does NOT hide sweat at all. I noticed this about halfway through my run and shrugged it off, figuring we’re all girls here out on the trail (figuratively), but I was pretty self-conscious walking home through the fully-dressed, not-drenched-in-sweat Muggles on their way to work. I don’t think it’s enough of a downside to negate the upsides, but it’s a bit of a bummer.
The last race I ran gave out blue cotton tanks - I have no shame in wearing the race shirt for the actual race so I wore it. It was hot that day and by the end, the tank was showing 2 dark boob sweat marks. I was mortified! I rubbed the shirt around to soak the rest of the tank in sweat, but it’s forever captured on camera 😬😳

Oh no! That's pretty unfortunate, for sure, although at least you didn't look like you'd wet your pants. On the other hand, pictures. >.< My last long run I ended up with a really weird sweat pattern where a circle around my left boob was the only part of my front that wasn't drenched. I have no idea what that was about, but thankfully it wasn't all that visible!0 -

I was DETERMINED to not let being on-call keep me from meeting my goal. As soon as I got home from work, I headed out, and I said that if a call comes through, they will just have to wait for that 25 minute time frame! .07 over my goal - I really should have done more this month, but I’m going to focus on August as my last full month to get ready for my marathon before my taper starts in early September.
Congratulations to everyone who made their goals, and even if you didn’t, good job on what you accomplished for the month!10 -

Nominal July mileage goal: 100 miles
Real goals: Get healthy. Build base. Work toward being able to run Wineglass in September.
Today's notes – Final report for July. Went to club practice, still felt just a little less than normal after Bristol last Saturday. The workout for the marathon plan added up to 10 miles, so I planned on running just 8 to 10 easy miles. Stretched the warmup to 3 miles, then went out and ran 7 while other people were doing real speed work. It was typical summer temperature and humidity, but we got overcast skies and a bit of a breeze; so it felt pretty good.
I was pretty creaky for the first 400m or so of the warmup, and again for the first 400m or so of the 7 miles, but after that it just felt like running for fun. Great way to end a month.
July goal recap: I'm past the leftover Achilles issues, so I got healthy. I'm working on solidifying a base of low 40s per week; if I had to run 35 miles per week for several weeks in a row, that would be really comfortable right now. Being in shape to run Wineglass is looking pretty good. And I blew past the nominal mileage goal, mostly because I'm lousy at forecasting how much I'll be able to run.
On to August!
