What is your "Petty" Reason to Lose Weight?

I want to be healthy for my daughter and be a good example. I also want to turn heads like I used to years ago...I am determined to do both!6

Petty reason? I want to fit back into the stupid "business dress" suit that I will need to occasionally wear to client sites for work... I don't want to have to go buy a new one for a couple hundred dollars, then pay to get it altered because I'm "horizontally blessed and vertically challenged".
Not so petty reason: I was recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I woke up one day in late May and literally could not walk without a cane. As I am raising a 12-year-old, this was a bit scary for her. I'm older than all of the parents of her classmates to begin with, and it really drove it home for her that I might not be around forever. So I need to take better care of myself if I don't want to be relying on a cane every day, or worse, being stuck in a wheelchair. Oh - and yeah, I don't want to be trying to lug a laptop and accessories into a client site while managing a cane, or whatever else I might need to get around.15 -
I'm graduating college in April 2019...3.9 GPA, set to graduate with highest honors. I've worked my butt off to get this distinction and I am SO excited to walk the stage at commencement. But, at 5'5" and 225 lbs, I feel like my achievement will be overshadowed by my weight. I want to look as good as I feel on graduation day, and be able to look back at pictures taken that day without wincing at my appearance (my huge face always grabs my attention when looking at photos of myself).
I'm majoring in wildlife biology, which requires working in the field. I don't want my weight to hold me back from this type of work. Last month I took stream samples on campus with an instructor and was soaked in sweat before even getting to the sampling site.
Jeans. Most of the time I have to do the rubber band loop thing to allow myself an extra inch or two in the waistband.
As mean as it might sound, I don't want to be able to wear my mom's old clothes. She is probably only 20lbs heavier than me and is working with my dad to lose weight. I'm thrilled for them, but I don't want to be heavier than my parents!

This. I am always afraid of this. I know it shouldn't matter and it sounds petty, but I cringe as I walk into stores or ride my bike down the street because of this very thing.

It doesn't really matter though.. even if you're thin people shout rude things at you from truck/car windows. It just feels worse if you're fat. People can just really be @sses.12 -
My petty reason: Men don't look at me the same way they used to. Sounds pathetic but I miss turning heads like I used to...
I have also started to have a lot of health issues since I gained a lot of weight. I need to get it sorted so I'm healthier!!8 -

Some guy cursed me out because he thought I was going to cut him off on the freeway. 1) I didn't attempt to speed up, and there were no other signs that I was going to do anything of the sort. 2) with all of the construction, it would have been impossible to pass him.
Some people are just crazy rude!9 -
So my thighs don't rub together. I gain - my thighs start to rub - time to get back on MFP!14

Because I wanna look good for my wife14

I wanna feel sexy...8

I didn't have one when I started. I literally started my journey to get healthy. Now that I'm losing it & love the way I'm looking, I guess mine is to look cute in cute clothes.10
-
Mine is to feel good looking enough to approach whoever I want without feeling like he is too hot for me...both in person or online8

I have a lot of reasons including i just had my 4th child ...8 mths ago.. But the pettiest reason I have is to get smaller than my sister in law who only has 1 child lol! ... I know thats super petty but I mean it and in going to do it!10

If I knew you in real life, we would so be cackling together in a cocktail bar wearing feather boas or something You sound hilarious!!
Edit because I should probably add another petty reason - I want to be hotter than the ho who married the love of my life16 -
I'm sick of being the fat triathlete, the fat friend, the fat sister, just the fat one.9

So that they'll see, THEY'LL ALL SEE 😤11

In for the martinis and boas!
Oh, I suppose I should add a petty reason though. Hmmmm...
You know that thrill you get when a guy almost breaks his neck trying to check you out? I play it cool but I’m really laughing maniacally inside. I love that feeling.10 -
Not related to losing weight, but getting stronger. I want to be able to start the f-ing gas powered weed wacker. Currently I pull and pull and pull and then go inside and tell my husband to come out because I can't start the f-ing thing. Anyone else? Just me?13

I got a battery-powered week whacker for that reason. I hate gas-powered weed whackers. I think I'm pretty strong, and it still kicked my butt.4 -
I adore vintage dresses ~1940/50's knowing I look chic for a 'Lady of a certain age' keeps me focused

How's this for petty?
I attended an autopsy once for work. The doctor described the deceased as an "obese female." I decided then and there, if someone were ever to do an autopsy on my body, I did not want to be described, clinically and unemotionally, as an "obese female".39 -

Well that makes me feel better! I know how strong you are ...4 -
Well I discovered another reason this week. I still have 15 to go and I've been going to the gym since March.
I started Scuba lessons last week and figured my strength had improved a lot. Yeah not so much. I can't kick hard enough to move myself through the water with all the gear on.
The instructor is like "KICK!" WELL I AM KICKING! I am not a 3 speed lawnmower. I've only got one kick speed dammit. So yeah I need to improve there.9 -
In high school I was a healthy weight, on the soccer and track team. Fast forward 10 years and 2 kids later I had gained a lot. And on my 5' frame it looks like more. I ran into 2 old friends from high school in the grocery store and as I was leaving I heard them whispering "geez she let herself go. The good ones always get fat and ugly after high school." And this was literally 3 weeks after having a baby. Well I'll show them.23

You've been dead?!?10 -
Because I’m 46, recently divorced and apparently the main mode of meeting people is online, I’m petrified to show up to meet someone and have them think I am fat.17

I enjoy being flirted with. I want to be told that I'm lying about my age because 40 year old women aren't "hot".
Hahaha I feel this. I celebrated my birthday this year at a bar, and one of the regulars there, whom I'd seen around but never met, came up to introduce himself and tell me happy birthday. He also told me I was 'stunning' but in the next breath said I was 'stunning especially for 44', and I was like 'Which one!? Which one!?'8 -
While I do have some very good reasons to lose weight (number one being I'm terrified of developing the added health problems as I get older) I do have some incredibly petty reasons.
- There is this woman that my husband and I are kind-of friends with (friend of a friend). She has a thing for him, and has made her dislike of me known. She used to be very overweight, like 350 pounds or more. Over the past year she has lost a lot of it and I don't want to her to get smaller than me.
- To be more confident naked and to have better sex, I want to make my husband drool. I won't have sex with the lights on and I want to be able to do that.
- All the cute, beautiful clothes!
- I live close to the same city I went to high school in, I don't want to run into my old classmates and have them secretly judge me, especially the ones who picked on me. I want them to look at me and be envious.
- I entered my 30s overweight and unhealthy, I want to enter my 40s looking hot!16
