Having a masters degree in Chemistry is vastly different than having a masters degree in say...food science or nutrition. I am finishing my masters in sustainability and environmental compliance but that doesn't make me any more informed on medical diseases than you. BUT I do know this because of studying scholarly sources (not blogs and forums), leaky gut is not the same as IBS or Chrons; Epstein Barre is not the same as Chicken Pox; GMO is not harmful for consumption (refer back to my masters because, yes, this is something I am VERY informed about); and last but not least, giving you constructive feedback when your claims are patently incorrect and downright dangerous is not attacking you - it is informative and generous. Having completed a masters degree, you should understand that continual learning and constructive debate is a gift, not an attack.

I educated myself when I went to nursing school many years ago. I also use critical thinking skills to help me separate science from pseudoscience. You should take your own advice and educate yourself as nothing you have posted in this thread is based on sciences .
I'm pretty knowledgable about GI diseases actually. I'm sorry but anyone who claims tha IBD and IBS are the same and that IBD is a symptom honestly aren't thst familiar even with the basics of GI diseases.

People are correcting misinformation. Conflation of different diseases is not okay. It actually insulting for those who suffer from those conditions. When you tell people who know what their talking about to educate themselves, while spreading misinformation yourself, it's going to get called out. It's not an attack.
Really and they know more than the Mayo Clinic doctors and scientists.Obviously not one of you have taken the time to read the most current info.I’m not asked ng you to believe me But r search for yourself. And by the way you don’t have a clue of my medical conditions don’t assume you do.

My assumptions weren't about your medical conditions, just about your understanding/conflation/misrepresentation of knowledge.9 -

And obviously you don't have a clue about our medical conditions. BTW intestinal permability is a thing but it is a symptom of disease (like Crohn's) NOT the cause of it. I've probably reas way more peer reviewed scientific studies than you have and have a lot of real life experience in this area.7 -

I have a masters degree in Chemical Engineering. What is your point?
Question: When you wrote your thesis did you cite random blogs from the internet or articles in newspapers as sources. I can guess the answer. No. Because if you did, you would have failed your thesis and not achieved your degree. No you would have cited proper peer reviewed articles in proper journals that were deemed reliable and reputable.
So why take a different view when reading articles and crap that people have posted on forums when it comes to your health. Why are you not being more cynical of this article. Is it published on a reputable site? Is the article endorsed by the site, or is it a "blog style" post that isn't moderated? Is it peer reviewed? Is this something that already conforms to my view and is my personal bias affecting my judgement? Is there actually any evidence based research to supplement the claims? Does that research have a natural bias potential (sponsors etc)? Is the conclusions drawn from that research fair, given the results? Is the sample size adequate? Is it fair to draw comparisons from the research to the situation listed in this article?
These are the questions you should really be asking yourself before sitting there telling everyone else they should educate themselves. By telling others that they are wrong when you're spouting what is well known pseudoscience you just make yourself look like a fool. Take a step back. What happened on this thread. You asked for our thoughts and we told them to you. You didn't like the answer so you got defensive. Yes some of the responses weren't the politest or sugar coated of responses. But tbh some people are so sick of the rubbish that is spread by ill informed people, that their patience has worn thin. Rubbish that in many cases are not just wrong, but potentially damaging if believed.
You asked for our thoughts, and our thoughts are overwhelmingly: It is BS. The article is rubbish, from a rubbish source and tbh you should be more cynical.26 -

Wow. First of all, there are several veteran posters here who suffer from some of the real digestive diseases like IBS, Crohn's, and gastroparesis, including at least one of the posters you are telling to "do more research". You telling them you know better because you read a post on a Mayo Clinic chat room and read a cookbook is insulting.
Second, unfortunately there are doctors out there who try to convince everyone they've re-invented the wheel in order to sell books and get clicks on their website. Just because a doctor says something is true on the cover of the book she is trying to sell doesn't make it a proven scientific fact.
Vetting sources and applying critical thinking are important skills in this day and age of information overload. Just like Dr. Oz has proven he doesn't know much outside of his specialty of cardiac surgery and is willing to prostitute his medical credentials to get famous, you have to look deeper than just "a doctor wrote a book" or "this was mentioned in a Mayo Clinic chat room".18 -

A picture of a page in a book is the best you can come up with? I have a difficult time believing you have a Masters degree in anything when you think that posting a picture of a page in a book somehow is evidence that supports your argument.
That page mentions GAPS, which is pure pseudoscientific fantasy. Not a shred of scientific evidence to support it all.13 -

Good luck to all of you who are sooo over the top with your attitudes wow a simple subject and now I’m being accused of making light of people’s illnesses. To decide if I have any Critical thinking abilities really shows exactly what a piece of XX 💋 you are9

So can you admit that this is wrong? Can you see why someone with Crohn's would think you are minimizing the situation because you literally said IBS and Chron's (sic) and colitis, etc are the same thing. It's like saying a tension headache and glioblastoma are the same thing.9 -

What claim have I so called made by sharing a string ng to an article I had read. I haven’t made up this info. And I find it hard to believe that all these experts responding with such negativity have an agenda of helping vs hurting. And did I ever say I bre better than someone else who I haven’t met. But a lot of you said that about me. Shows me there very finite mind9 -

As a matter of fact m very familiar with Crohn’s disease and others. But no matter if you read my original quote from me this thread has gone a little bonkers5 -

That same string links to Mercola who is one of the biggest quacks around. Spreading misinformation is not helping anyone except the quacks gain more money. Please link peer reviewed scientic research to back your claims. With a Masters in Chemistry you should know about scientific studies and peer review.14 -
