One house hunting tip I wish I had known - if there are new fixtures or wallpaper or repairs, find out why. We were told "Hey, this is great, all new floors in the bathroom! And also new pipes upstairs!" Yeah because the pipes in this house are terrible. Everyone in the neighborhood (several cosmetically different houses with basically the same floor plan) has the same exact leak above the dining room table.

@rheddmobile I actually like your shoes. Mine are uuugly hot pink Nikki full support. Bought them because they were on sale 50% off. Mine no one wanted.

@Elise4270 well, I've been in that funk mode you call it these past days.
I think @MegaMooseEsq explained the negative factor enabled/disabled in the diary settings about the step count. I wanted to find that post to say thanks for the explanation.
I disabled it. I found it demoralizing. I prefer to use the garmin only to count the distance and calories burned that day. No longer counting steps. In my head felt I was going no where. It was eating at me.
So, for me to get out of that mode I keep at it don't stop but I have to find a logical way out to solve it in my head and move forward in a more positive manner. But till then I'm fighting with myself. Sometimes being stubborn pays off it doesn't let me quit.

@PastorVincent excellent tips for house hunting. That's how I used to look at the areas ahead of time for when I used to run or now to walk in the evenings or early morning to be safe.

Woah woah woah! I am officially registered for my first 10K and my first half marathon! I was feeling nervous about pulling the trigger on the latter, especially since deciding on the Mankato race that is just close enough to conceivably drive there day-of (if we get up at 4AM), but far enough and mid-October enough that a decent number of things could go wrong. Thankfully, the website helpfully offered $5 race insurance, which seems more than worth it for an $80 entry fee. Check and check!

Moving from the 5k to the 10k I’m wondering what my mindset should be. I’ve run six miles or further five times now and have an 8.6 and 5.9 scheduled before the race in two weeks. My thought is that I should try and treat it like a normal easy or maybe tempo run, depending on how I’m feeling, and not worry about strategy past that. I want to finish and it would be nice to do it without walking.

If I keep walking to a minimum I should be able to manage at about an 11 minute pace, which gives me a finish time of 1:09:xx, toward the back of the pack but not last based on last year’s results. I can be a competitive *kitten*, but that makes going in with reasonable expectations even more important. And my time would still have netted me top five in my division last year (out of five!) and that totally counts for me.

@travelling_lots: That’s too bad about the groups in your area. I can’t imagine that there are a huge number of people wanting to run in the winter, but hopefully they’ll be bonkers enough to be dedicated!

@RunnerGrl1982: I love running by myself, but I’ve also enjoyed getting to know other runners here, and I think winter will be a good time to reach out. I’m working from home full time now and even this introvert needs some people time. If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. Hopefully I'll get some survival tips at least.

@PastorVincent: Your stories made buying a house sound so appealing that I guess we’re dipping our toes in as well. Because why bother setting one big goal for the year when you can set three! Any tips?

High fives to everyone who raced this weekend!

Not exactly sure how that is going to work now.

I've been thinking maybe I should upgrade the data on my phone to keep for updated with you guys. This forum moves extremely quickly.

I think you guys will make me meet my goals vs joining a running room or club here.

@MobyCarp - what's the OakTree Half in Geneseo like? Pretty hilly? I think I saw you have done this before and/or are doing it this year (next week).
