What nobody tells you about losing weight

My husband tells me that I'm a pain to eat out with now because I have to take so much more time to order! Not only do I have to figure out what I want, I have to analyze the calorie content of it vs everything else to see if there's a more preferable choice. Even if we go out to eat at a fast food place, I take my time looking at everything to see what I can fit into my calories for that day.
If I know where we're going ahead of time, I'll look up their menu online. Then I can open a tab on MFP, and start looking up calorie contents of what I might eat. Since our local restaurants rarely post calories I'll find an MFP entry that seems similar. Then I cross reference the restaurant cited in the MFP entry and try to find that food on their online menu. It saves me time at the restaurant by knowing what I'll get, and the general calories of everything ahead of time. Not to say I still don't get sidelined when I get there! Item no longer on the menu... or my seemingly healthy item I picked ends up being a calorie bomb disguised as brussels sprouts... But it helps me out some of the time. I've looked up so many restaurant menu calories, the numbers just start calculating as soon as I open the menu, lol.12 -

THIS. My style has changed. I want fitted clothes, but don't want anything fancy. I now know I was hiding behind my flowing blouses. Now a simple fitted t-shirt is what I'm most comfortable in.

We look up menus online to help us decide where we want to eat! It has the added bonus of streamlining the ordering process.
A lot of chain restaurants have nutrition guidelines online. Where I have the most trouble is with teeny-tiny local places that don't have a standardized menu. I try to save those for when I know I've been banking calories!5 -

I swear it seemed that at heaviest simply standing on the treadmill burned calories, now I feel as if I have to run 5 miles just to burn into the positive numbers.. ... At least it feels that way10 -
No one told me how much happier I would be! I always heard people tell me that my life would be better (and in my head I thought yeah. Okay.) I've only lost about 30 pounds so far (about 150 to go!) But even now, I am happier eating chicken and veggies after the gym than I ever was eating a burger and fries after work20

That you would one day strongly desire and reach for a bowl full of blanched green beans with lots of spices, garlic and thinly slices onions--AS A SNACK. Wow, a big ole bowl full of crunchy lightly cooked veggies OVER chips, popcorn and traditional snacks--really?? YEP, AND to regularly get your "snack" craving from stuff like this instead of reaching for or craving for popcorn and stuff like that for a snack--to actually "jones" for this--lightly cooked or raw veggies, instead of popcorn, chips or pretzels, etc.(nothing wrong with popcorn, chips, and stuff like that and I still eat those things, but CRAVE veggies (and FRUITS) now so much more than the other so-called "junk food" snacks I was completely obsessively in love with HAD TO HAVE or else I'd feel, ummmm, yuck, when I was obese)--how totally amazing and strange (and sooooo deliciously YUM for snacks lightly cooked or raw veggies are to me now) and NOBODY ever told me that.13

Cushions on everything. When I still had all my natural butt padding I never understood why people had cushions on everything!!! Dining room seats, patio furniture... I've lost that padding, I get it!!! And now I have my own little pillow I sit on at the dining room table because hard wood isn't comfortable.16

I'll just take the bumps as I no longer worry about the embarrassment of being told I can't ride because I'm too big (did happen once, probably one of the worst feelings of my life!!!). So I'll take the bruises over the heartache.9 -
That seat belts will hurt on long tips. I'm sort of short and we are road warriors (have a red Mustang convertible). I tend to enjoy doing most of the driving and our typical days will be 8+hours. Last trip I noticed my shoulder and arm hurting, then I kept having to shift the seat belt because it was hitting me right on my collar bone. Never bothered me before when I had padding there. I'm going to have to get one of those "old lady" clips to make it go across my chest lower. (never considered it before because the girls were so massive)10

Nobody told me I should measure and take pics before losing weight - I did consider it, and thought nah, I don't really care about that, but now I'm wishing I had, just for curiosity sake
I guess I could regain the 50 lbs, measure, take pics, then lose it again haha! just kidding! But if anyone just starting out is reading this, and thinks they won't really care about what their measurements were, do it anyway - if you still don't care once you've lost the weight, fine - but if you do care, or are curious, then you've got them.20 -

LOLL this is so me!! I charged it for 15 minutes yesterday so it would be charged for my 8 hour serving shift yesterday. Worth it as it ended up being a 3400 calorie burn day!!8
