By the end of the day, the battery is already low, so probably not enough for music. I can't get lost, same route all the time. And if i fall? Rub some dirt on it and get back up... 😉
I have an iPhone with a mophie - which I keep snapped right onto the phone. It's basically a back-up battery that recharges the phone. I love it and it has been a life saver many times - whether on my bike or long runs or whenever the battery runs low. I just flip a little switch and presto - I'm back to 100% battery.
I have an external battery too. I have it today, but doubt i use it for radio since i need to bike.
I just need to remember to charge it, i dont leave it on my phone. When its 100° out i cant use it, or any gps/satellite outside. My phone gives me warnings that its too hot.
I did round up my son's old mp3 player. So... Might make that work for now. Lots of great running music2 -

@ContraryMaryMary - you got my vote!
@sarahthes - hopefully you'll heal right up and be back full force. I was looking at my past races just two nights ago and wondered "why didn't I run anything in 2017?" And then remembered - I lost an entire year to PF. This will NOT happen to you! If I would have paid attention to the pain when it first started I probably would have healed faster - but I completely disregarded it until one day I couldn't even walk it hurt so bad. Lesson learned.
Managed 2 miles before work - 3 if you count the 1 mile walking the dog. However, I'll call it 2.
June goal - 44/44
July goal - 52/52
August goal - 55/57 miles
Sept goal - 32/60 miles
Sept. 30 - Wineglass Half Marathon; Corning, NY

Welcome back! You've totally got this!1 -
OMG dudes, my husband booked us a hotel RIGHT NEXT TO a biking/running path! I didn't even think those existed in suburban Kansas! Maybe I'll get to run this weekend after all.10

Suburbs? I have noticed there are a lot of biking / running paths in suburban midwest areas and more popping up all the time. There are also a lot of rails-to-trails trails in the rural midwest... ya know, if you are looking for some real distance.3 -
@ContraryMaryMary - I voted for you and left a small comment quoting @JessicaMcB . She should copyright her saying and use it with her shoe sponsor as a sales tagline attached to a muddy trail run picture.
You were in the lead by a small amount. Go vote for Mary -ContraryMaryMary wrote: »Hi everyone, so my muddy posterior photo from the weekend’s event is a finalist to win some Inov8 trail shoes. For those if you on Facebook, could you please vote for me (I’m Mary if you haven’t figured that bit out). Link here: https://www.facebook.com/917010361675854/posts/1967174123326134/

In spite of living in Minnesota for almost 20 years, I'm afraid that I'm kind of a snob when it comes to the rest of the Midwest. This is the second time I've been impressed by a trail system running through what I'd dismissed as a "car town".2 -
5 easy miles around the park, weather is still lovely. Got home and the AC is broken, and it's supposed to get hot again by tomorrow. AC guy is supposed to be here within a couple of hours. I truly hope he can fix it today because I cannot sleep in the heat. And also that it doesn't cost all my money to fix, darn it!4

Morning guys. Woke up feeling achy and have a headache and scratchy nose still. So no run, I'm feeling really weak too, and am still in bed, no work today. Which means no long run tomorrow. Oh well, this week was a 10 k so resting and letting my body heal is much more important. Next week is 13 so I'll be ok for next week and a 14k fun run the week following! Hmm I may do 12 next week then bump up again the week following.8

My kids had school yesterday even though all the public schools were closed. It was a blessing because it gave us time to storm prep. I hit a few stores and my neighbor texted me that Home Depot was out of propane, but everyone was buying generators. I picked up my husband and we raced to go get one. Thankfully we made it in time and got one.
I ended up running in the evening which I can’t remember the last time I ran past dinner... I split it into a 6 miler then a two miler with driving my daughter to swim practice inbetween.
This morning I see the latest forecast and now we are only in a tropical storm watch.
It’s a huge relief but also crazy after all the stress and prep we went through. I feel terrible for the South Carolina people who will be impacted.
I ran 5 miles while my girls were at swim practice this morning. It was blazing hot. My heart rate was high for almost the entire run. Garmin says it was a 4.7 aerobic effort vs just 4 for yesterday’s 6 miles. Pace was just about the same.

@ContraryMaryMary Done. Looks like you are still in First place!1

No run today, taking wife to Red Robin instead.7

Oh, to give you an idea about how badly my lunch walk was flooded out on Monday, check this picture.
The top pictures are a day after the rain stopped. The two under it are the same location the third day. The water is still receding and probably was a least 15 feet deep in places on the road and walkways

Ok, so only logging miles actually spent running since I need to get to 3.2 without stopping. So where as I went 1 mile today only actually ran .54 of that mile. -stop laughing. Lol
My goal since I am late and not good at this will be 17 miles for Sept (HERE GOES NOTHING)
9/12 - .54
Upcoming Race
Oct 27th - Monster Dash 5K9 -

No laughing here, you're doing totally awesome! I only ran my first full 5K this spring after taking the winter mostly off and spending last summer and fall gradually working up to 1 mile (and wow did that mile feel amazing!). You'll get there for sure if you're patient and persistent! I'm not sure what my "no walk break" record is right now because I stopped keeping track, but I did 10K without walking this AM, so it's at least twice what it was at the beginning of the year. The nice thing I learned is that other runners don't care if you have to walk from time to time because pretty much everyone walks sometimes!6
