@ANewCJ2018 - not to sound creepy, but if you would like some tips just reply to this post and I will share with you some of the things that I have learned along the way...
One of them - and likely the biggest one - is that the "Keto Flu" is really a thing, but something that you can easily avoid. I did. The issue (aka, Keto Flu) is that when your body is changing energy sources from Glycogen to Ketones it undergoes some major changes. One of those changes includes flushing a lot of your "Electrolytes". Essentially, sodium (not necessarily table salt - which is sodium chloride -aka, four parts sodium, six parts chloride), magnesium and potassium. This wreaks havoc on your body. And all of that crappolla that you feel has been coined the "Keto Flu". Well, increase sodium intake and you will likely be good to go. How? Well, salt your food a little bit more. Invest in some Himalayan Pink Salt, for example. Or, try some bone broth.
I have heard lots and lots of people in here who try the Ketogenic Diet (I call it the Ketogenic Lifestyle) because "my Aunt Sally is doing it and has lost a ton of weight, so I will try it"....well, these folks did not do their home work (and Aunt Sally apparently did not give them any tips) and they find out all about the Keto Flu and it sucks. But, they are totally unaware of what is happening other than "I started doing this and five days later I felt like crap for days....so I quit!".
Don't be ignorant and quit something that *could* help you but you did not do your homework....
Anyway, the Keto Diet is not for everyone. But for those who can - and do - more props to you! I love it. But, I have a medical reason for doing this.5 -
@cloudsongs - I would gladly extend the same offer to you as I did ANewCJ!4

I eat potato sometimes, just not very much because my carbs are under 20g or so. For an upper limit of 50g net, a potato is not that difficult to fit into a day if you want it.

Keto and LCHF can be one and the same but LCHF can also apply to anyone eating less than 150 grams daily but that will not be Keto.6

50g of sweet potato is between 1/4 and 1/8th of a sweet potato depending on size. Complete waste of time unless its a garnish on something else.11

Hey folks - OP is looking for ideas for a keto diet. At no point did she request schooling regarding whether or not she can have sweet potatoes. This is NOT a debate thread. If you'd like to debate the merits of sweet potatoes on LCHF or keto, please... I beg you, start your own thread in the debate section. Further derailing of THIS thread with sweet potato/other debate will be met with warnings for trolling if they come to my attention (i.e. if I see a user report about it... If you don't know how to report and would like to learn, send me a PM).
I'm American. I was up late last night watching things explode and celebrating my freedom. As a consequence, I'm tired today, because I had to get up and go to work this morning... and now I'm grumpy, too. I'm sure you don't want to deal with me when I'm grumpy.
Anyway, more than a page of 'debate' posts were removed from this discussion during clean-up. Please follow community guidelines when posting. If you need a refresher, click this link: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/welcome/guidelines

I'm doing Keto have been for about 5 months and I'm down about 45lbs (I don't weigh myself very often, I wait until I see my doctor I see him next week so I'll know then what I'm at.) . I try and stay under 20 carbs a day sometimes I go over but I try not to very often. I make sure not to go above 50 carbs a day (if I do have a day I go more than 20, but I try not to have very many of those days).5

New to Keto... I’m struggling with what to eat ... I haven’t actually made it through a day with less than 20 net carbs... but I want to!
Any ideas for quick & easy food ?0 -

First set your carb goal to 49 grams daily. For LCHF set it at 149 grams of carbs daily.
I have being doing LCHF/Keto for nearly four years without counting. Almonds, coconut flakes and chocolate bars make a lot of my carbs but I do not count them. Since Oct 2014 at the age of 63 the only simple thing that I do is I do not eat foods sweetened with sugars or that contain any form of any grain. Otherwise I eat all that I want when I want it.
It was like a year of reading and doing it before I realized that I did not have to understand anything but just keep doing what I had been doing for the prior year.
Best of success.9 -

Very helpful link! Makes alot of sense. Just started over the weekend. Wife raves about it and I have hit a plateau with my weight loss so am giving it a go.1 -
I’m on Keto now for eight weeks. Have lost weight (35 lbs.) very easily...I rarely work out. I’m going to keep this going until I lose another 25-30 pounds and then just maintain.
Good luck to you all and add me if you’d like! 😊2 -
i started 5 days ago. ive lost ten lbs already. i did have keto flu on day 3... but i learned how to fix it w salt and electrolytes. still low on energy right now, but my appetite and cravings are disappearing2

I have been on KETO for five weeks and have lost 16lbs so far. I do 35-40 Carbs a day as I do not want to rush the process and give up everything. Once you figure out what macros will put you in Ketosis, your on your way to losing weight.0

Fixed it for you.
Have to agree though! I was lead astray and made to believe I could eat as much fat as I wanted on keto but I ended up gaining fat!
I was definitely in ketosis as I had already been keto for a long time, several years on and off and a year completely on keto. After 5 months of a deficit AND keto I finally am around 19% bodyfat.5 -
I make keto granola (I mix chopped pecans, sliced almonds, chia seeds, flax meal, sugar-free coconut flakes, coconut oil (unrefined) and some erythritol and then put it in the oven for 20 min at 325). I love this stuff in some almond milk (as cereal), or a little bit of greek yogurt, of homemade keto whipped topping.2

There are a few who think ketones = unlimited food and weight loss, but they are a small minority. I don't see it that often.
I think what may happen for some people is that their maintenance and calorie surplus level may increase a bit on keto due to an improved health condition or increased protein intake. I know that I lose faster on keto but it helps with my autoimmune and inflammation, plus I was prediabetic.
The perception of eating more is common. If you are someone who found they were always hungry on a lower fat diet, experiencing reduced hunger from a keto diet can make it feel like you are eating more just because you aren't used to being able to follow hunger cues.5 -
