i think mom has a fantastically wicked sense of humour because there is nothing on that wholefoods website that suggests any of their cakes are 'healthy'. OPs mom just wants OP to be fat for EVER!!!!

Average recipe of a sort of "healthy" cake made at home
1.eggs (at least 2 whole and 4 whites) - 143 + 200 = 343
2. at least 100 gms of sugar - 387 calories
3.Most cakes contain around 50-100 gms of butter ( 350-700 calories)
4. half cup milk (depending on whether it is full fat or skimmed or something else - 40-100 calories
5. self-rising flour (at least one cup) - around 600 calories.
6. dry fruits and preserved fruits and other addendum extra.
7. Icing/ Frosting (which is sugar loaded) - another 300 -900 calories (though most healthy cakes would not have icing/frosting)
8. Plus those roses on top (talking about cakes in general) have a lot of corn syrup etc. One flower itself could be 100-200 calories. Even the canned fruit has a lot of sugar syrup in it and canned fruit toppings and fillings can also massively drive up calories.
If you add all that up, that's already more than 3000 calories (without the dry fruit and other stuff added to it). And this is a recipe for a relatively healthier version of the cake. The problem is most of the manufacturers go crazy with unhealthy ingredients even in said "healthier products" Eg, many people bake cakes at home with 200 gms sugar or whole eggs or more butter and other stuff. The manufacturers use even more. Plus they use a lot of oil and fat, too. Therefore, it is very easy for the calories content to become higher.
Also, the recipe I mentioned above produces a cake between 1/2 kg and 1 kg. If your cake was heavier, it would naturally have more calories. The weight of the cake is another way to get an idea the calories.
As for the cake being airy, it doesn't matter if the cake is airy. Pumice can float on water but it is still a stone. Dense calories can be packed in the airiest of cakes. It is better to find a recipe, control the ingredients and bake it yourself. That way you will know exactly how many calories you are consuming.
This is exactly why, no matter what any website or person says, I still engage in portion control in addition to calorie counting. Mistakes happen. It is normal. But portion control decreases the magnitude of the mistakes and makes it easier to rectify them.
Rule of thumb no cake slice, pizza slice or burger is ever under 200 calories - never ever.11 -

1 gram of fat is 9 calories. That's 1/10th of one tablespoon of mayonnaise.

Firstly, nobody forced you to eat the cake. That was your choice, so take responsibility for that instead of blaming your mother, who probably thought she was helping you by getting you a cake from a brand that markets itself as a "healthy" food store. A lot of people mistakenly equate 'healthy' with 'low calorie' or assume it must be good for you if it has 'natural' ingredients. Well, mascarpone, dried fruit, flour, fat and sugar are all natural ingredients, and all healthy in moderate proportions, which is why this cake is a multiple serving item and not meant to be overeaten in the way you did.
Secondly, it was up to you to do your own research about this product. Presumably it came in some kind of packaging which had a barcode, so you could've scanned or manually entered the nutritional values and weighed/logged it before you decided to eat it. You could've checked the Whole Foods website before deciding whether to eat it or not. You could've eaten less of it. You could've said "thanks, but no thanks" and passed it up. You did none of those things, so that's on you. Don't blame your mother for you not bothering to check. You're in control of what you eat, not her.
Thirdly, don't put yourself down. What you think of your mother is your business, but don't describe yourself in the negative. You made several mistakes, but what's done is done and you'll do different next time. Take this incident as part of the learning curve you're currently on.20 -

No, Whole Foods isn't known for low calorie foods. Unfortunately, many Americans do assume that the foods there are somehow magically reduced calorie simply because they're "health foods."
Their bakery is full of delicious things that aren't reduced calorie in the least. It's more like a mid-tier luxury bakery.9 -

It's a cake, dude. Use common sense. Flour, butter, eggs, sugar, etc...eating almost a whole cake is never a "Healthy" idea. No matter where it came from.

Make sure you read the package, first. Pop tarts come sealed in a package of two, so most people just assume that that's a serving. Nope, the calories are based on *one* Poptart.

I think you need to forgive your Mom, and then forgive yourself. Just be strict with yourself for the rest of the week - put it in perspective of how many calories you will consume all week. Don't let a mistake derail your efforts.7

Technically, Whole Foods does not call itself a health food store, but rather a natural food store. There is actually a difference. Also, I don't personally think it's that much more expensive to shop there unless you're buying specialty items, when compared to other US chains around here. I shop largely at Trader Joe's, which is definitely cheaper than other chains here.
I can say that nearly every slice of cake I've seen from Whole Foods is between 600 and 1000 calories. Natural does not mean low calorie.7 -

It is interesting in this world how people like to blame others for something they should be taking responsibility for.. you are lucky you have a mother that loves you and wanted you to feel better.. please go and thank her today for the token of love she gave you.. and I am sure I speak for many mothers on here that ask for so little yet deserve so much
