Day three....sleeping better already....anxiety gone....restlessness dissipated. Started juicing to replace the beer binges.
Thanks to the inspiration of Joe Cross, and how hes helped turn the life of a 6’2” 430lb man’s life around, is motivating!
I pray I’m just as successful. 🙂6 -

I too am a juicer, a fan of Jason Vale. I am actually on day 9 since I started to kick the booze once again. Feeling so much better already, but know I can revert back so easily as I have done in the past

Good to see so many new faces in here! With so much positive energy and determination. October is going to prove a winner for so many of us.
A little story..... about 4 years ago my DH for my birthday rented a surprise for me (or more for him as it turns out) a chauffeured limo to zip out of town in. The evening started out so great, happy and innocent. Being in the limo with drinks flying right and left for 4 hours and going from bar to bar did not end so well. Too much alcohol, emotions surfacing for what reasons I have no idea and being hung over the next day and basically remembering nothing is such a horrible memory for me.
Today when he asked what I wanted to do tonight. I reminded him loud and clear "not a limo". I will be driving, having one and waking up happy tomorrow morning.
Have great success today everyone.11 -

Hope you have an amazing birthday!1 -
Failed at lunch today. At Caribbean restaurant and all set to go AF but girlfriend wanted a cocktail and they were 2-4-1 - she could only have one as she was driving so thought might as well! Decided to turn today into one of my two allowed days off this month since we're out this evening anyhow.3

@dkabambe if you are comfortable having the drink and it fits into your plans thats great but that should not be a reason on its own I drank so many extra drinks in my life time just because it was an open bar or someone said it’s on me and I wouldn’t pass it up
We are on vacation this week and at an owner reception I asked for an empty glass and was told sorry have to keep them for the wine 🍷 so I gave her the token for the wine took a napkin poured the wine into the bushes wiping out the glass filling it with the grapes and cheese I wanted the look on her face was great9 -
My 8 months alcohol-free milestone rolled over the other day.
Loving my streak!
It's not even about the streak. It's about not merely surviving as before, but truly thriving.11 -

Well, October 1 was a letdown and a sort of victory. I had hoped to get down to my target weight by my 72nd birthday and celebrate by resuming LIMITED wine consumption. 10 stinkin' pounds to go, so no celebratory sip...
But, on the other side, it's been 107 days. Long dry summer and I hardly noticed.
Okay, I lied.
Good luck and good decisions to all the new posters.
And Happy B-Day to Miss May.

The good change I noticed, the urge or impulse to actually buy it isn't as intense. I kinda feel as if I have a choice.....hmmm. That's definitely good. And when I concidered not buying any I didn't panic quite so much, only slightly. I'm liking this. Still thinking about alcohol, but I can feel it's grip loosening. Even if only a little.
It's like an itch inside your brain that you just want to sctratch. It does subside more as time goes on. I always try to focus on how I'll feel after scratching the alcohol itch. It never feels better.. only makes the itching come back worse. Ignoring it definitely lowers it's intensity each time.
Keep up the self discipline and brain rewiring!! Everyone can do it!!9 -
I'm in! Not sure what less alcohol looks like for me right now... I just know I'm tired of drinking my calories! I normally have 1 or 2 glasses of wine 3-4 times per week. I don't like the high cal/sugar intake, which made me think of switching to a different form of alcohol. Which made me realize it is not just an indulgence, but a crutch. I certainly don't want alcohol to be a replacement for the emotional eating. Thank you for this group!8

@jhilkene That's an awesome analogy!!0 -
Days off are always harder for me to not drink because I tend to use it as a reward or treat for making it through 6 days (nights) of work.
Then it would always spill into other days of the week.
Let's ignore the "itch" today everyone!5 -
sounds great. i'm in. my goal will be 30 days in a row. texting to my inner-coach right now.some can think this is not fun but no it will be. here's my first inspiration for this game: https://youtu.be/nF8paxAqIRE?t=473

Had the itch yesterday, but was able to ignore it. Another day down.

I was itchy yesterday too. Did not scratch it. I'm finding that changing up my evening routine is helping. I'm keeping busy and not just coming home after work to indulge in wine o'clock. It seems to be helping.7

Well done!
I tend to do fine during the week, but then the weekend rolls around and we go out to eat, everybody kicks back and drinks... I might just stay home all weekend to avoid temptation and use the money on a new pair of workout leggings instead.5
