Heather ~ A nice article from your DnL and the children are always so cute!

Tracey ~ For many, many years we lived pay check to pay check. I am now so glad that I stuck to teaching for 30+ yrs as the retirement has saved us.

Tracey ~ Your grand daughter is so cute! I have a gap between my front teeth that I have always hated. Dad did not believe in braces mainly because he and my mom had beautifully straight teeth. Alas, all five of us kids had crooked teeth.

carol sticking it out for 30 years as a teacher is one of my goals—financially it is the smart thing to do. Emotionally and physically hard though, I admire your tenacity and perseverance

I am not good at talking one on one. I can talk to a group so much easier.

I wear the NB shoes most the time. I really like the fit and they last.

Katiebug--I do like the new floor and laundry room look.

Sue--I pray the news from the doctor is not bad, I agree that they ust not be overly worried if appointment is 3 weeks away.

Janetr--Don'tlet DD make you feel bad about it, I still look at the larger sizes and find myself having to keep going down the row to the smaller sizes. Last week I got two pair of pants for work and ended up buying several sizes TOO big. DH laughed when I showed him. Not sure what I was thinking. Know I need to return them but I keep thinking I can just pin them in the waist. Only have about 6 inches to spare. LOL

Heather--love the idea of your pink gloves. Looking forward to seeing a picture of you all decked out in your coat and gloves and scave. Saw the picture and so pretty.

I have been fighting a headache the last couple days and today my eyes are fuzzy. Know it is stress and working through it . DD is just going off the deep end and I am trying to keep the tough love going as she is 42 and just not learning. Never had to take care of herself as ex did everything for her. I know she has to figure it out and I am doing my best, but I get so mad when she keeps doing dumb things. Like paying cell phone bill for a guy she dated last year when he would not help and this week both hers and his was shut off and she says she only need $1,00 to get them turned back on. When she is only working 25 hours a week, just dumb things like that. Now her car stopped running so she calls DH the other night and expected him to jump and go figure it out. Well he did and starter or something is out, she knew it was having problems kept driving it and not having it checked, so he told her she is on her own to figure it out. Sorry to go on so.

Nettiebess--Welcome. Just start one step at a time and do what you can each day and keep coming back to this group. You will get support, friendship and tips to make the changes needed.

Terry--welcome back and sending prayers and hugs for answers for DH and you.

Lenora--I am so sorry about not being able to drive, but keep posting. I read everyone.

I am also worried about my DYB who's wife has ALS and can not move from neck down or talk. He posted a couple days ago how angry and tired he is. He is taking care of her at home and their son left college last year to help. I have afforded to come stay with her while he does whatever just to get away. So far he says no.

    Blessings, Vicki GI NE <3

Janetr - what a lovely thought, but I could never wear heels that high!

Anyone who is interested might like to see my DDIL's latest article for the local paper in Hove, where we hope to move to.

I always had a gap growing up as well, so does my brother and so does my eldest daughter. We never had braces either. We tried to get them for our daughter but could never afford them :(

:)Heather, I loved the article from your DIL. It makes an even greater impact coming from her because she is successful professionally and as a wife and mother and still finds time and inclination to stop and enjoy.

:)Terry, welcome back. Reading this thread daily has helped me stay focused on what is most important.

:)Vicki, It is so difficult to detach from adult children who keep messing up their lives. The more you learn about detachment, the less the stress. Best wishes. <3

:) I felt much better walking the dogs this morning and walker farther and uphill a bit. When I got home, I had to resist the impulse to ride my exercise bike. I have to remember to increase exercise a little bit at a time.

Nor can I, I wore them to work for years and years until my knees got so bad I could no longer wear heels. Wearing them probably contributed to my bad knees lol. BUT the hot pink boots are gorgeous and caught my eye <3

  • Tracey - they can x-ray your toe and determine it is broken; but all the will tell you is to tape it to the big toe for a period of time. Tylenol or Ibuprofen will do for pain. I have broke 'big' toes on both feet. I know I have broken a couple of the others because I seem to be pretty klutzy at times.

  • I took an extra Clonazepam and feel a lot better; tears from yesterday are gone. Dr. Bear mits says he will contact Neurologist; and maybe order the 'sleep study' (probably done at the building his office is in). Since I don't think I have had any seizures - because the only time I've been told I have had seizures; I don't remember them. When I am "Home Alone" then unless I fall down, or slide out of my chair and am 'on the floor' I am not aware of an 'aura' of one coming on. Still have not gotten in touch with my PsycheMD; maybe I will get something soon. At least I have enough medication to last until I need to go back to him. That is a relief. The practice he was in haven't told me anything (suggested that maybe I would want to come to see the MD who saw me in the hospital and I told them, not on 'no, but hell no'. Dr. Bear Paws said there wasn't anything she should have been because I was up there to 'tweak' my bipolar meds.

Thank you Lenora, I don't want to waste my doctor's time. She is so busy and it's hard to get into her. I'll try taping it.

Tracey, you could try icing your toe as well. Ice, tape, Tylenol should help.

Took the water class today. Gave the gal the ginger chocolate cookies. I called them to her “heaven on earth”. She loves ginger anything and then to add chocolate! The plan for tomorrow is to do Cathe Friedrich’s Muscle Max DVD.

Tomorrow I volunteer at the Green Room then for the first time this season we have Newcomer bowling. Ceramics tonight

M – you know, this Toastmasters looks really good. I wish I could get over my great hesitation about speaking, so I think it might be good for me. Now can I work it into the schedule? What happens if you miss a meeting? How frequently are the meetings – ever week, every other week?

Janetr – why would your daughter get on you about losing weight? Does she think you didn’t need it?

Karen in VA – working in the medical field, you probably already know this. I’m not sure exactly what you do, but hydrogen peroxide poured on a blood stain will take the stain out as long as the item hasn’t been washed and dried.

After exercise went to the Salvation Army. Found a Talbotts shirt for $2.99. Talbotts is usually pretty expensive. I can use the colors that are in it. Then went to Big Lots and they finally had some of Vince’s rye bread. Then to WalMart to get a few things. What I need to do in the future is make a list of what I need for the following week so I can pick it up. Trust me, each of these stores are definitely on my way home. I’m not about to go out of my way.

Carol in GA – have you had a refrig with French doors before? I love mine.

I’m REALLY not looking forward to putting a blanket on the bed. For a while now I’ve been using a small blanket sometimes, but I don’t want to put one on permanently until I absolutely have to. Went in the pool yesterday (water was 80) and think I’ll go in for a bit today) Unfortunately, I really can’t do many exercises in the water since we had to put away the noodles (actually, we threw them out) and the kickboards.

Terry – welcome back. How has the jewelry been going?

Nettie – welcome! You CAN do this, and I so admire you. Come back and share the journey with us

Katla - at the Newcomer board meeting, to me, things are really stupid. There are all these things they say they will do. Like they say they want everyone who has a picture to put on the web to put it on a flash drive. It would be helpful if they’d tell people this. And that’s going on the assumption that people know how to do this. Like that’s going to happen. Adra said that she’d make labels to put on the box lunches we’ll get for the next general meeting. I just called her, this was news to her. I told her to give me the labels and I would print them out then put them on the boxes. The first email about this lunch said to tell the gal of your interest and she would email you how to order your lunch. Now she’s going to place the order. This really should have been thought out. People give her their order, send the money to the box, she places the order, Newcomers reimburses her. Really, many times things just aren’t thought out. That’s another reason I can’t wait to get out.

Lenora – I absolutely hated it when I couldn’t drive. I couldn’t wait for the time to get here when I could, so I can totally relate. By now, you’re probably used to not driving, but I still feel for ya. (((Hugs)))

Lisa in TN – are those ankle weights in the picture? I’m always on the lookout for some but I want ones that have things in them so you can adjust how much weight you have. Plus…I’m a cheapskate about some things and don’t really want to pay a whole lot. As it is now I have a foam roller, a bosu, a rebounder, step with risers, handle bands, bands that go around your feet, a band that is one piece of latex, some dumbells, and a ball.

Rebecca – to me, it is a mortal sin to pass by a rest area and not go to the bathroom.

Barbie – I think it such a shame that that blind girl was voted off DWTS. I think she did phenomenal! Of course she couldn’t do that intricate moves that someone with sight can do. I think it wrong that she was judged in the same manner that everyone else was judged.

Vicki – how nice of you to make that offer!

Michelle - Yeah, I've gotten used to 'not driving' - although living 30 miles from where we used to live and where my friends are - I find it pretty 'confining'. Getting rather 'bored'. There seems to be just so much time you can spend, cleaning house, reading, watching TV, and playing games on computer; or just catching up. I deleted my FB account for so many reasons, too long to list; but, 'family drama' is probably the top of the list. I rarely hear from most of my friends because it seems like FB is the 'only' means of communication as far as they are concerned; but, at least I don't have to read sister's political posts. I hate 'politics' AND 'politicians' … just a bunch of LIARS IMHO. All in it for the power and the money it affords them. Still do not understand the most recently ex-POTUS remaining totally involved when no other had ever done that before. On the side doing everything to put present POTUS's cabinet posts and other nominations through more of a ringer than anybody on the face of the earth. Many more 'socialists' running as Democrats; and RINOS - Republican In Name Only (ies) with a totally different agenda. Watching the hearings this past week, seeing a man have his name 'totally ruined' because Diane Feinstein sat on a letter from a woman who really did not want her name 'used'; then, got 'forced' to testify. Not only ruining Kavanaugh; but, her name as well. What more could the FBI find that they had not found when he was tapped to be on the Appeals Court or even what they found when they submitted their report; before Flack (R) said that 'he wasn't comfortable without another FBI probe into the incident at hand - now they want even more people interrogated - He is a 'swing vote'. So, make a decision and jump off the fence - even 'if' the decision is wrong. I 'think' the Statute of Limitations might have run on a lot of things being brought up. Just a total charade. I'd feel this way about any nominee for SCOTUS on either side of the aisle. Dragging it out until it is becoming a ridiculous scam. I thought Ruth Bader Gingsburg should be 'removed'/retired by now. She can't even keep her eyes 'open' during a meeting. I though she said she was going to retire when one party or the other got elected. Well, she served under a Democrat, a Republican, then a Democrat, now a Republican again. Wasn't she appointed by Clinton? “Clinton appointed not one, but two, Supreme Court Justices while he was under investigation.,” Thomas Jipping, Deputy Director of the Edwin Meese III Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, wrote. “The second appointment came while he was actually ‘under subpoena.’ If Democrats care as much about precedent as they pretend, this one blows their Mueller-Kavanaugh argument out of the water.” IMHO. Get it on, confirm a 9th SCOTUS - so the SC can do its job like intended. GGRRRrrrrr

Sorry - I know we aren't supposed to discuss politics; off my 'soap box' now.

Lenora - having to spend why too much time in front of a TV. Going to ask Louis to help me empty my studio if it isn't raining this weekend.
