Well, its official. I look like a grandma! Got my military ID renewed and I look like my grandma. Strange. Got husband liver anti rejection meds. Get them free at the base pharmacy. Gotta love free!
Hugs everyone!

Hi all: Cloudy but dry today so horses are out in the backyard pasture to get them out of the mud. I never thought I would get a coat for my curly-haired labradoodle with her heavy coat but she takes a long time to dry out when she gets wet so last night I tried my old dog's coat on her. It was too small but did keep her drier so I think I will probably invest in one that fits her to wear when we go out to feed horses and goats. Being a puppy she gets cabin fever if she has to stay in too long.
Rye - Cute car and congratulations. That was a lot of hard work you put in.
NYKaren - Lovely pictures.
Heather - Thinking good thoughts for your move. Hope everything goes smoothly.

Rye: Happy dance for you!!!! You go, or should I say, you DRIVE, girl!
Heather: Do the solicitors get paid during the process, or only after the massive train of transactions is completed? If the later, then maybe they will hustle to get yours to closing. Crossing fingers.
Lisa: Glad the drama-monger is moving on. Your blogposts on your two kids put a lump in my throat. They should feel so lucky to have you as their mom.
Today we got a blast of cold, wet weather, which is expected to last all week. DH and I have been hemming and hawing about taking a fall trip, but didn't have any one destination in mind. I asked if he remembered our day in Puerto Vallarta, and he did! So, that's where we are heading in early November for 4 nights. That's got me excited.
Hasta la proxima, Amigas.

Rori
Thank you, Rori, what a lovely compliment! They're amazing people, and I'm just as lucky to have had even a small part in raising them to be good people. It's always so joyous when they tell me I taught them something, or made them feel they can do something they weren't sure they could do. It genuinely feels as if my life is filled with purpose these days, just not necessarily the purposes I thought of, once upon a time. Sometimes you drive your life, and sometimes life drives you, no?
Writing them made me think a lot on the nature of truth, and what can and should be shared. There are elements of their stories that are their own, to tell or not, as they choose. I chose carefully what stories I shared of their lives... And much like the sundial, I decided an awful long time ago to "count only the sunny days," at least when looking back. The bad things happen, I don't ignore them, nor gloss over them. But there's good that comes out of that too, as long as we learn, change, grow. That's what I tried to focus on for them.
Too much of my own days of late have been spent in the negative spaces, in the shadows of other people's lives, but in a year, five years, ten years, none of this will matter. Just the love we keep, the love we share, and the lives we make better, whether our own or others.
I'll stop waxing all philosophical on y'all and go to bed. Glad you're here, all of you. You make my life the better by being in it.
Love,
Lisa in Arkansas

Did Jane Fonda’s Firm & Burn DVD. I thought it was “eehhh”. I’d keep it, but probably not do it all that often. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Leslie Sansone Walk Your Belly Flat DVD. I may have to forgo exercise since we will need to leave around 7:30. I seem to recall that it didn’t take all that long last year, but Vince says we need to leave by 7:30.
Supposed to go meet the girl Sandi who is working on the web. She told Vince last time they went shooting that she didn’t know me so I thought this would be a nice time to meet. Well, she invited Adra (no biggie) but Adra told me that she and Sandi (who I don’t think is involved too much) are going to have directions for me to add people to the “new” directory. I’m SURE what’ll happen is that I’ll look them over then invite Adra and Sandi here because I’m sure I’ll have questions. I bet any amount of money Adra hasn’t thought this through. So we shall see what happens. I’m VERY VERY uncomfortable working on the entire web. Previously, I had buttons just to do my portion of the job, which was just fine by me. I know myself too well, and I know that I’m the kind of person who will click on something to “see what happens” and if I click on something and screw it up, there’s no one to fix it. Update: I went and met Sandi. She seems like a very nice girl, she’s open to comments/suggestions from me. She did give me some things to look at as far as inputting members into the new directory. Personally, I still think it’s most efficient to input members into the old directory. And I do have questions. I’ll probably invite her and Adra over here to discuss some of my thoughts. Oh, Adra wasn't there tonight, she did email me and say that she had a meeting at her church that she couldn't get out of.
Lisa – Did insurance require you to put the railings going up the steps in front of your house?
Yesterday after bowling we stopped at CVS. I had a coupon for 20% off a grocery item so I got this 100 calorie candy bar. I didn’t know if that was a grocery item or not, but it was. So I bought it to donate. Now I know if I bought something I liked (like a Dove bar), I’d most likely eat it. Yes, it’s only 100 calories. But it’s 100 calories that I don’t need. So I got a Snickers bar which I don’t like
Elizabeth in GA – Doing a happy dance for you being so close to goal
Halloween candy – when I’m giving it out, I have a big bowl of popcorn next to the candy. I take some popcorn instead of candy. What doesn’t get given out either goes back to the store (like the next day) or in Vince’s office for him to have.
Rori – how wonderful your dh remembered Porto Vallarta! Hope you have a great time. And if you’d like to take me along, that’d be fine, too……<hint, hint> lol
It’s only supposed to be in the 70’s tomorrow in Asheville. Looks like I’ll need my pants. Boo, I like my shorts. I’m going to take a sweater, but not sure that I’ll need that.

Hi ladies. I'm not sure I'm going to like teaching on Tuesdays for the next 9 weeks 830-530. BLEH. If class actually goes that late, I will miss my s-anon meetings! So the other teacher and I tried to put some on line time on Tuesdays. Today went the whole time and I didn't get home til 615.
it's still raining here; my rain gauge that holds 6" is full and it's still raining.
Pat: I'm so sorry about your SIL! (((hugs)))
Rye: good for you! I'm proud of you! Cute car too!
Well since it's way past my bedtime, I'm signing off, but at least I've been here 2 days in a row, Take care, meg from soggy Omaha5 -
Well, the project I’ve been working on since March is finally complete.Meet my car! BB-4,2. . Today, on my brand new first time ever driving license, it sits there in the grocery store parking lot where I drove it - without a licensed driver in the passenger seat with me for the first time!
A LOT, a whole lot of practice, a couple
Fails on the driver road test (grr parallel parking) and here I am at age 53 with my first ever car and license.
It is an odd combination of great pride (this was close to impossible until we found the tiny car and then only by pure practice for six months and determination ) and shame (although my mind knows my disabilities are not shameful- my gut is always very embarrassed). But mostly overwhelming relief, fear and eagerness.)
A momentous day for me.
Rye
Oh wonderful!!!! Congrats to you!!! I got my first ever drivers license in 2014 at 52 yrs old! Its scary, exciting, numbing, exhilarating, scary, (oh I said that already).... I still feel scared, though, but I have done it! We are both so brave!!!

Back to school this morning. I asked my grandson how his long weekend was, and he said, "Really great!" Music to my ears. His mom was away at a girls' weekend, so his dad (my son) planned a fun weekend for the kids...golf carts and miniature golf and other fun stuff. My grandson said there were no fights and no lectures. My grandson had a bunch of fun with his dad and sister. Warms my heart, and gives me hope.

Well the family drama continues, my 17 year old granddaughter was taken to the ER and put on suicide watch. The hospital had no beds for teens so was taken to a hospital three hours drive from their home. She's doing better now, put on some meds, hopefully temporarily, and will most likely come home Saturday.
Oldest daughter's drama continues, but at least it in involves adults not young kids.
Now my oldest niece, just a few years younger than me, and another niece that has three adopted girls from China all teens now, have both been blowing up my phone yesterday and today with very heart rending situations. I have somehow become the family go to "sounding board". I listen, really give very little advice, but may share a similar situation in my life and what I learned. My daughters told me today the others come to me because they know I will listen without judgement. Perhaps that's true.
The purpose of the above rather rambling and confusing tirade is to say in short, I am tired, stressed, slept only a couple hours last night and fighting stress eating big time all day. I'm hanging in there around four pounds below the goal I determined at the first of this year, still working on an additional six pounds.
Love you my friends and thanks for listening to me too without judgement

Thank you again for all the encouragement and support! I can’t say I find driving fun,but it is opening up possibilities,
I do have a niggling worry that DH will now stay at home and tell me to just do things myself, but we’ll see. For the foreseeable future,I won’t be driving very far from home, just grocery store And some errands. But it is so different to be able to hit the grocery store and get home in minutes! (Formerly the walk to and from closest grocery was 45 minutes).
iPad ate several paragraphs, not sure how that happened. But it is middle of the night,so I’ll sign off. Thanks again, ladies, your kind words have meant more than I know how to express.

Heather ~ what a beautiful park... and the kids including your DH look like they are having a great time...
even with meletonin I am not sleeping well ugh... oh well.. I am up and having my tea. and will get Alfie out for a walk and then go walk Homie and Chester and feed my FIL... Tom has asked me to watch the dogs while he and his girl go to Florida... so I will do that the 19th through the 27th , after the strike where they both work it is a little frosty as he is in a different union than most of the others...
yes I know you all think I am nuts for doing it... but I have forgiven so that I can move on with my life without hurt and hatred in my heart...7 -
Lisa – Did insurance require you to put the railings going up the steps in front of your house?
Michele, yes, they required both the railing on the porch and on the stairs. And the door... yeah, that's the stuff of nightmares. Will have to buy one this weekend.
Rori, I was so tired when I saw your post last night, I missed that your husband had remembered the Puerto Vallarta trip! Every memory is so precious. Enjoy your trip!
Heather, the park is lovely... thinking of you as you wait.
Karen in VA, thank you. Writing for me is like breathing, it's necessary. I think it was Katla who advised me, "only write when you have something to say" a few months back and it's been helpful in keeping me from just babbling on.
Janet in OK, advice without judgment is a true gift. I struggle to attain that myself. It's a nice observation from family!
Has been wonderful to get back into a work routine in these three weeks at home between business trips. They're just getting my Arkansas employment taxes straightened out, so I may get a whopper of a tax bill shortly. Should be interesting. Whatever it is, we'll cope with it. That's what we do.
Love y'all,

Thank you. SIL is like a son to us........a heart breaking situation. They ‘re expecting 1st Grandchild in Feb & now this.
Our Grandaughter will be here tomor.Always good to see her.Life sets us up & knocks us down, but that’s how it goes.
Enough ........unless you all need to hear about my broken big toe. Happened yesterday & no idea how it happened.
Weird!
Heather, enjoy the kids & good luck on your loooong wait.Thinking all good thoughts.
Janet in OK..........Family worry never ends. Sorry you have so much stress..

Janetr (((Hugs))) Keep us up to date so we can commiserate.
Lisa I hope you are dead wrong about the size of that tax bill. ( death & taxes in one sentence)
Heather Idyllic park photos. I think you are going to be in a new home soon! This is the first time I've felt any certainty for you, admittedly. I woke this morning feeling quite optimistic!
Allie Holding a grudge requires way too much energy, but it's good to be a bit wary. Tom didn't value you during your marriage.
Today I find myself missing Penny and DJ.

This is the first grandson essay for Language Arts. He is adamant in his dislike of writing, but finding a topic he is passionate about helped. I helped him with punctuation (I still missed one or two commas) & one misspelled word, but the rest is entirely his. I can't wait to see how he progresses with writing as he becomes better at phrasing, agreement of person & number, identifying run-on sentences, transitions, etc. He is going to be a really good writer, if he can just get over his dislike of it:My Hot Wheels Obsession
My Hot Wheels collection has over 150 cars, each one handpicked from different stores. Hot Wheels cars are perfect for car lovers of all ages. They can be interacted with in the real world, set up in scenarios, they’re easily found, and they’re affordable.
Hot Wheels are easy to find, and they cost very little. Whenever I go to Kroger I always see buckets of Hot Wheels cars around the store. Single cars cost only $1 apiece; however, if I see cars I like in multipacks, I prefer to get multipacks because the final cost is a lot less than if I get multiple single cars. Sometimes single cars are discounted as well. The demand for them is fairly low so they don’t usually go out of stock.
Hot Wheels can be played with endlessly. I spend hours in my room every day playing with only a few cars. I can set up different scenarios with them. Some scenarios I have tried are police chase, car shows, races, and auctions. I can do whatever I want with Hot Wheels cars.
Hot Wheels are perfect for car lovers young and old. The uncanny detail on many of the cars adds to the pleasure of simply looking at them. The only Hot Wheels I buy are modeled after real cars. However, if a person doesn’t like real cars, they can still get some of the made-up fantasy cars Hot Wheels makes. The realism and detail make Hot Wheels great for just decoration.
Cars are vessels for expressing style and emotion, and Hot Wheels flawlessly captures that in the little diecast cars we love so much. That and many more reasons are why no matter what your age, Hot wheels are the best way to collect cars.

Hi ladies,
I'm still lurking, but not doing well eating wise. DH is hanging in there. He took a new sleeping pill last night and I couldn't wake him this morning. So another day of him not going to work. He has used up all his vacation and medical time so no work no pay. I left him sleeping peacefully. Guess he will have to cut down the dose. But at least he is sleeping.
I have PT tonight after work and I'm not looking forward to it as my back and both feet are sore today. Maybe a little less weight on them would help! Also fighting a bladder infection and probably own stock in cranberry juice about now. Good thing I like it. Taking AZO for the discomfort.
Seems like I am surrounded by stress right now and I know that is why I'm eating everything in sight. I know I'd feel better losing weight and eating right but at times it just feels overwhelming.
Well enough complaining and back to work. Thanks for always being there to listen.

Karen in VA: Great essay and wonderful use of descriptive words!
Terry & Janet & Pat: So sorry for the trials you are all facing.
Lisa: Glad the drama at work will probably calm down now that your co-worker has decided to leave. I think we have all encountered folks like that in our lives.
Alison: You are a bigger person than most of us would be regarding Tom. I am sorry about your blood disorder and hope you will get the help you need to manage it.
I have a dental appointment tomorrow. I hate going to the dentist and have no dental insurance. But, I have a tooth that is bothering me and want it taken care of before I have to go through a lot of pain. I also have two crowns that need to be replaced but will probably continue to put that off.

Hi,
Yes the park is lovely. Hove is full of people running, walking, cycling etc. Today I saw a business man on a skateboard. It is the 'fittest' city in the UK.
We went out to the beach and had the best ice cream in the UK this morning. Bea got covered in chocolate ice cream but a great time was had by all.
Will post pictures.
