JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS - ROUND 55

I really love this challenge and the participants, it makes me under control somehow. Even I cannot reach my goals, it's really better than nothing. So the previous challenge I really lost a little weight (0.3 kg/0.9 lbs) and that motivated me.
My goals for this challenge:- Drink enough water
- Exercise 3-4 times in a week
- Try to not eat junk food and drink max 3 glasses of alcohol in a week (I don't wanna be hard on myself because I can't)
- Eat nutritious food, not just all carbs
10/5 85.3 kg (188 lbs)
I got really sick yesterday, I was exhausted, lost too much water, however, also drank so much water. I couldn't eat enough.
10/6 85.1 kg (187.6 lbs)
Yesterday I was still sick, and I couldn't move and couldn't eat enough. I'm not sure that this number is my true weight or not. But I hope I could see 84's in this challenge.
10/7 84.6 kg (186,5 lbs)
Obviously, I'm losing water because of sickness. I don't drink enough water. Also, I drank a glass of wine it was really unnecessary and it made my stomach sicker. However, this morning I'm feeling better.
10/8 84.9 kg (187.1 lbs)
I'm really OK with this number. After feeling better, at night I went to the gym and really worked hard. I felt great I really missed going to the gym.
10/9 84.4 kg (186 lbs)
I'm so happy to see this number. Actually, I'm still sick so I cannot eat enough but it kinda disciplines me to eat well. I hope I'll continue like this.
10/10 84.9 kg (187.1 lbs) (before the bathroom weight)
I couldn't weight myself after the bathroom, as usual, I thought that's the reason. But also I don't trust yesterday's number 84.4.
10/11 84.9 kg (187.1 lbs)
Ok, this time not before the bathroom, this is real. I'm still kinda sick, continue to use lots of pills, cannot exercise. And also I should confess that I ate a cheesecake yesterday...
10/12 84.2 kg (185.6 lbs)
Good to see but not healthy yet, so I'm continuing to lose weight (diarrhea ). Yesterday I also couldn't eat enough until dinner, because my stomach wasn't feeling good. But at night I ate a few biscuits And also I cannot drink enough water I think... And cannot exercise

but then I try to remind myself that it's not all about looks. It's about being healthy. Not getting diabetes (which runs heavily in my family). Being able to run around with my son more. Being able to walk distances without my legs and feet killing me.. If anyone has something informative or uplifting in regards to this, I would appreciate hearing it.
I worried about this, too, especially as I am an older woman, and the skin isn't as elastic as it used to be. However, I have found that because I am losing slowly, the loose skin does seem to be shrinking over time. Moisturising the skin with a light oil, remembering to keep liquid intake up, and do toning exercises also seems to help.

Round 55
SW: 74kg May 2018
GW: below 70kg in Oct and stay there
UGW: below 65 by end of the year
Rounds 47-54 EW: 73-72kg with loads of fluctuations and excuses to over eat.
Day/Weight/Comment
10/05 71kg. New round new determination. Fell off the waggon a bit the last round, but went for a short run this morning. However, the excuses for emotional eating won't stop: It looks like we'll have to put down our 6months old kitten. She's in hospital now and they can't figure out what is wrong with her, none of the tests have shown anything conclusive so far.
10/06 70.8-ish not quite 70.5 yet, but below 71kg. Ate over yesterday, but ran, walked and went boxing in the eve.
Just spoke to the vet and it looks like they have a good idea of what she has (a liver shunt) and in many cases that can be managed with meds and food. And the vet said she's such a little fighter, it would be a shame not to try!!! So we'll pick her up this afternoon - probably much to the dismay of our other cats. And sod the weight and food logging for another day or so. I'll get back to it on Monday
10/07 -70.8 again. On my way to boxing class now, tonight dinner with friends.
Yesterday, I didn't end up eating until around 1.30pm and then nothing again until we arrived home with the kitten around 6pm. She slept for ages, then had some food and is now back to her feisty self, keeping me up half the night with headbutts and very loud purring. I'm so relieved.
10/08 71.5kg - no surprise there after a very big dinner and probably also some water retention from boxing. Packed breakfast and lunch today and planning to run tonight, will see how DOMS is gonna feel.
10/09 70.8 again. Good day yesterday, withun cals, even had pizza and a small ice cream. Went for a run in the eve. Today's plan is to not get carried away at lunch and then boxing class tonight
10/10 70.8kg - oh come on. Even though this is on a non-digital scale and less acurate, the needle has been in the exact same place. I suppose better than a gain. Patience and consistency will eventually pay off. And since there has been so much talk about plateaus, I know a few days is nothing to worry about.
10/11 70.8kg again. Ate ok yesterday and it was a eest day (only walked), but I skipped my run this morning as I'm still sore from boxing. I really could have done with the calories as I have my first leaving dinner with a colleague tonight.
10/12 70.8kg still. Had a lovely eve yesterday, after a hectic day at work, had to skip my lunch time walk so was under my step goals. Then, when I got home, I needed chocolate and ate too much waaay over my cals. I don't understand how I used to eat all these sweets and snacks without thinking it would affect my weight... So staying the same is ok for today. Boxing again tonight, maybe I'll make it to 70.0 by Sunday.

10-12: 161.6 (0) After 3 weeks of sticking to the plan two things happened - shark week right before xgiving. If it stood still long enough I would eat it. I was stunned at the intensity of the cravings. Ice cream that had been in the house for weeks - gone. Chips and I do not LIKE chips - gone. Then of course I cooked thanksgiving dinner, mash, stuffing, sprouts with pancetta and chestnuts (I love chestnuts), gravy, bourbon cranberry sauce...PUMPKIN PIE etc etc. Cook everything on my own and of course that meant tasting it along the way. It was as if one bite lit the end of a stick of dynamite and BAAM had to have more. That 0 lbs does not tell the story. I was probably up 5 lbs just from mash alone but somehow sanity has returned. Cravings gone.
I bought G2 gatorade - 12 gr of CARBS! Hello, second ingredient is sugar and I used to drink that thinking it was a "better" choice - 12 g is almost half of 25 g daily limit (not for this diet for which it is lower think this is WHO recommendation) so I left it alone. Diet Coke which I started drinking thinking it would help with the cravings only made things worse. Doc suggested avoid asparatame and try xylitol - former absorbed in body latter not - but research it this is from memory.
Doc told me next shark week eat protein every 2 hrs and EXERCISE. No supplements. If really need a fix buy low carb snack. BUY ONLY ONE SERVING AT AT A TIME. I'll also stick with water and lemon or those flavoured waters and see what happens next round. Glad to be back on wagon and looking forward to next weigh in.

10/12 193.0 5am post workout. 5/5 workouts complete for this week yay! I haven't been able to get up consistently in several months so I am very proud to have gotten in 5 workouts during my long week. Failed at keto yesterday (ate a subway sandwich for lunch) but tried to still stay under on carbs. I'll try and give it another go today8 -

@LeafyPoo I was worried about loose skin at the beginning too. I am 50 lbs down with 50 lbs still to go. I enjoy life so much more now. I used to feel so old and so limited by my weight. I can do more, I can wear more. my energy and flexibility are so much better. I don't worry about the loose skin any more. I know at a healthy weight in my 50's I am not going to look like I did in my 20's, but I will still look and feel soooo much better than obese me in my 50's.
Also try looking a some of the success stories and pictures - you will be able to see how the weight loss looks on real, non-photoshopped people - and it looks pretty darn good.6 -

It's going to be in the high 80s today (again) and low 80s tomorrow, and then drop to the more Octobery 50s, and I'm planning lots of walks and hopefully a hike or two now that I feel a bit better. I love October!

Last night I went to a potluck and there was nothing I could eat with my restricted diet - I had been hoping for some veggies at least. And even what I took was off my list - I had planned to make something I could eat, but spent the afternoon at the vet's office getting an ultrasound for my dog, and ended up just grabbing some lemon muffins at the bakery. But the hostess graciously pulled a leftover roast chicken out of the fridge, so I had chicken and an apple. Perfect! I can't say I was even tempted by all the great looking food - I've stuck to this elimination diet for almost 4 weeks and have 2 more to go before I start adding things back to test them, and I wasn't going to blow those 4 weeks for a few minutes of pleasure! Now I'm waiting for the ultrasound evaluation by the radiologist.

Big temperature drop during the night and suddenly fall weather has arrived. It's a beautiful, sunny 50ish day, so I'm planning a long walk on the river greenway. Have a lovely weekend, all!

The avocado cole slaw sounds interesting. Are you on a low carb plan? I'm still learning.
Hi! I am on a modified Keto plan. I can't eat enough to do the full Keto so I just tweak my macros from what FitnessPal recommends. The Avocado Coleslaw is easy to make and yummy! I use one small avocado, some bagged coleslaw mix (1.5 cups) and add about a tablespoon of olive oil mayo, just enough to mix everything. If I need more fat, I add raw sunflower seeds, about 1/4 cup.7 -

🎀10/5 - 180.2 - My carb grams have been much higher in the past week. Yesterday the carbs were wheat flour in the form of Texas toast croutons (10) and pumpkin tortilla chips (12) They were good and crunchy, just what I needed. 😁 But what springboarded (Is that an actual word? Today it is because I'm tired) me back to 180 was not enough sleep. Making the flowers for the wall has me keeping very late hours and I've been averaging 4 hrs of sleep every night this week. Today, I finish up the flowers and assemble the boards for the wall. Every part of this project is a PROJECT. I'll take a break tonight and tomorrow, then get back to it Saturday evening and Sunday. 🎀10/7 - 180.2 - Not enough sleep and a really high carb day that was not vegetables. It's all good, be over soon.
🎀10/8 - 181.4 - Absolutely carbs
🎀10/9 - 181.8 - Good thing my fortitude is a lot stronger than 3lbs of fluid! Another high carb/calorie day. Today may be the same. Yesterday, I was rested, this morning, very tired, as if I had a strenuous workout.
🎀10/10 - 181.2 - Very late night quick "meal" early weigh in after 4 hrs of sleep. My friend and I thought we were would be finishing up the flower application on the wall last night. NOT! Ran out of flowers. So, last minute dyeing of filters and now I'm trying to expedite the drying of them. There is still a lot to do before Saturday. The next photo I post will be on Saturday when the flower wall is in position and on display. I must say that it is gorgeous. Not at all how we imagined it would look. It is impressive.
🎀10/11 - 181.4 - Up all night glueing flowers. TIRED. Rested for two hours and now back at it. Hoping it doesn't have to be another all nighter.
🎀10/12 - 181- Surprised at this early weigh in. High carbs again yesterday, but under 93g total. Completed the flower wall at 1am, in bed by 2:15, sleep by 2:18 I'm sure. Up at 6am, smh. I will post a pic of the wall , but lying flat on the floor doesn't do it justice.

The closer I get to my goal weight, the slower the scales move. I’m trying to focus on the other benefits of my weight loss such as the lower blood pressure, my hip pain has disappeared, and my stamina has increased. It would be great if I could make my goal weight stick for this round though!

10/05 - 151.5 - I'm up again for no other reason than weight fluctuations. I'll have to really watch what I eat this weekend so I don't bump up too much more on Monday.
10/06 - 150.5 - I didn't expect this weight this morning after I ate close to 1500 calories yesterday, but I'll take it!
10/07 - DNW - I had to move the scale because of our bathroom remodel and I woke up at 3:45 this am and didn't think my husband would appreciate me turning on lights to check my weight. Our son-in-law is in town and staying with us to do the remodel and we've had a couple cookouts. I made vegetable side dishes, but I've eaten about 1500 calories a day the past couple days, so tomorrow's weigh in may not be pretty. That's why I'm here though, to face any gain and get back on track.
10/08 - 151.5 - It could have been worse, although sometimes it takes a couple days for the sodium to show up. Water today!
10/09 - 150.5 - I ate about 1100 calories yesterday and drank my water. I hope my body cooperates and shows another little loss before the end of the week.
10/10 - 150.5 - I'm good with this. At least it's not going up!
10/11 - 150.5 - I'm hoping for a little drop soon.
10/12 - 149.5 - A new low! This should help my trend weight for the week.

Thanks, @quiltingjaine . Sad to say, but the ultrasound wasn't encouraging - she has enlarged abdominal lymph nodes, nodules on her liver, and issues with her large intestine, so likely cancer. She's 12.5, so we will not put her through any surgery or chemo, just keep her happy as long as she is not in obvious discomfort. Here's one of my favorite pics of her with a few of her friends.

Hi
I am a female, 30 years old, 5' 6"
Just started using the every other day diet on 10/4 upon weighing 175 that morning. I have gained about 40 lbs over the past year and a half... After losing it all in the first six months after baby. I did the same thing after baby #1. After I lost it I gained my pregnancy weight back even while still BF...just minus the baby ! So here we go again.

big water weight drop in weight after my first 500 calorie day. maintenance calorie day

500 calorie day
10/07 / 165.4 / - 3
maintenance calorie day. water weight loss, will probably gain some back. TOM surprised me today with no cramps ECT. I'm pretty excited since I cut out dairy a month ago it really seems to have helped in many ways (less cravings, I can feel "thirsty" better instead if just hungry) including this one.
10/08 / 167.2 / +1.8 (this ended up being an unplanned maintenance calories day)
500 calorie day. I was hungry last night and I'm hungry today. Already have my food made for the day and planned out so that should help. Big salads all day Maybe tea with maple syrup this evening. Had a cold all weekend and I am feeling a lot better today, and one of my LO's seems better as well. My older is still sick so we will be staying in and having a relaxing day today.
10/09 / 166.4 / -.8
Trying again for a 500 calorie day today. I ended up feeling unwell yesterday at about 4 like I had low blood sugar and didn't feel well until I ate more than my planned food, so I ate up to maintenance. I had a lot of calories coming from vegetables yesterday where the past 2 successful 'fast' days I had eaten mostly carbs on my down day so maybe that just didn't work for me. I am trying again today with more coming from carbs like the first 2 successful down days. Feeling good so far. We had a tornado watch this morning.
10/10 / 168.5 / +2
No surprise. Last night I ate late which I have not been doing. I also went several hundred over my maintenance calories...but it was vegetable and bean soup instead of the normal chocolate and ice cream during my period. I did fine the first 2 days fine and I just can't do it the past 2 days. I suspect it is because of my period...I usually overeat during it. But the food I am eating is much healthier than it normally would be, and the past 2 days I only ate to maintenance instead of overeating. So I am still going in the right direction.
10/11 / 165.8 / -2.7
I didn't try for a down day but I did 400 under maintenance since that is how much I ate over maintenance the day before.
10/12 / 168.1 / +2.3
Late night cookies...but as far as cookies go they were 'healthy'.

@jerier Thank you for the cucumber salad recipe!! My DMIL used to do just cucumber and onions with vinegar but being from the south, added sugar (EWW!)
And @tiabirdie56 for the variation!
@ssssanaaaa YAY for cauliflower rice! Have you tried zucchini noodles? I like them more than regular pasta. I have a handheld Spiralizer but like them so much that I spent the $$ for the attachment for my mixer. Even DH likes them and he’s a carb and sugar guy!
@Maejestique Over 3# in 4 days and holding is AWESOME!
@LeafyPoo The younger you are when you make these changes AND STICK TO THEM, the more likely you will have less problem with loose skin. At least that is my experience. At almost 69, I’m hoping that working out will help me but after losing these 40+ pounds AGAIN, well, it ain’t pretty. At this age, even if I could afford it, I wouldn’t have a full body lift.

10/05 - Friday - 180.8 - Carb monster last night! But I'm learning how to satisfy my cravings without sabotaging my health. So I had just one serving and all was good! Friends coming down this weekend - next weekend is my birthday soooo if I could just see 170 something this round I'd be ecstatic! *I went shopping for a pair of jeans at dressbarn yesterday because I needed something that fit, my size 14's were getting really big. I figured I'd be in a 12, or even a 14 still that just wasnt stretched out. I grabbed a few sizes and even a size 10 just because I liked the wash. Well much to my surprise, everything was too big so I tried the 10's and voila!!! Also, I tried on a jumpsuit, that looked amazing! I didnt buy it because it was very summery but you better believe its a NSV!
10/06 - Saturday - 179.2 - Company arrived late friday night - DH cooked steak and peapods for dinner last night but we didnt eat until late. Took friends out to diner breakfast this morning - then headed to ski swap. Back home for a quick nap for the baby then out to farm and grocery store. Cooked a pot pie and potatoes, and indulged in some brownies. Ate some cheese and crackers while dinner cooked. Headed to bed around 10, exhausted.
10/07 - Sunday - 180.0 - Woke up early to cook breakfast for friends before they headed out. DH and I then went to ski swap, took a lift ride, and headed home for another nap for me this time haha. Went to the giant pumpkin weigh in and entered the wood raffle. Had an apple soda but skipped the cider donuts! Made tortellini and sausage alfredo with leftovers from breakfast and managed to stay away from the brownies!
10/08 - Monday - 183.4 - Oh well! So many NSV this weekend I don't mind the blip on the scale. Totally normal Monday upswing. I can't find my water bottle at work - but it's probably a sign to get a new one. I was just saying Friday I need something glass, as I don't like drinking water out of stainless but want to get away from plastic - but I also want a straw! Any awesome water bottle suggestions appreciated! Have my healthy choice power bowl for lunch and I'm actually looking forward to it.
10/09 - Tuesday - 183.0 - A salty day yesterday! And I definitely did not drink enough water. Starting to feel the desire to reestablish habits in our new home - ready to get nesty this autumn season. NSV this morning - went to my favorite coffee shop and resisted the delicious breakfast sandwiches that smelled so good. Looks like I might be going out to lunch today so I'm glad I saved the indulgence. Gotta get cracking on water today!
10/10 - Wednesday - 183.4 - So my familys love language is food. My mom took me out to lunch yesterday and I ordered shrimp and lobster scampi - it was so good I only intended to eat half but it was gone before I had any self control. And DH wanted to "celebrate" with pizza for dinner and proclaimed he's getting me chocolates for my birthday. So yesterday was very tasty! NSV yesterday was even at the end of a carby, salty, indulgent day, I looked in the mirror and was like DANG I LOVE YOU BODY! I've been practicing diaphragmatic breathing and yesterday it finally clicked and I could feel my muscles working. I'm not getting discouraged with this bit of a stall - I'm still getting closer to my goal each day!
10/11 - Thursday - 183.0 - Unexpected dinner at MIL so evening plans were a bit different than expected, and I ate what was put in front of me to be polite. Got home and still managed to bang out all of the chores/food prep I wanted to do! So dinner is ready for tonight, yay! I cooked some bratwurst for lunches today, I've never had them and not sure I'm gonna like them but we will see! This week is a tough one to lose weight but my habits are coming around again! Got my fish oil and smoothie in this morning. See autumn goals below:
10/12 - Friday - 181.2 - Cool! Well I was really stressed yesterday at work, and ate my feelings when I got home but I kinda already planned for a heavy dinner so it worked out fine. Going to do some self care today, a haircut and eyebrow wax and I should feel like a new lady! Turns out we will have a friend staying in the apartment for a few weeks so that will be an adjustment but I'm so happy we can help him out. Visualizing 179 as my birthday gift for myself! Going out to dinner tomorrow night to an awesome Asian fusion place but planning to have a LITTLE of everything.
10/13
10/14 - Birthday!
Autumn Season Goals
[*] Improve meal planning and food prepping - get some freezer meals ready, and do what I can today to make tomorrow easier.
[*] Have protein shake for breakfast with blueberries and flax milk 5/7 days a week
[*] Move more - body weight strengthening exercises every bathroom trip, and in other down time
[*] Be more intimate - getting comfortable in my own skin again is a learning process
[*] Commit to taking fish oil at least once each day - build up to twice. Follow up appointment in December
[*] Be positive - dream big - build strong foundations.
[*] Weight Goal = 170 lbs by 1/7/20199 -
OSW: 212 (Sept 2017)
FGW: 170
10/5: 194.6
10/6: 194 - I went to the gym yesterday for the first time in a while. I've been exercising outdoors all summer, but yesterday it rained. It actually felt good to work out inside! A change is good sometimes.
10/7: 194.6 - I'm feeling a little bloated today so not surprised there has been no drop. I did pretty good yesterday with my eating and logging, but before dinner I was hungry and did some snacking on pretzels and hummus. I did get out for a long horseback ride and hike (i get off my horse and walk up all the steep hills) so exercise goal is a big check for yesterday. Today my goal is to stick to my calorie goal and fit in yoga and a jog.
10/8: 194.8 - Trying not to be discouraged. I had a pretty good weekend as far as weekends go. I logged my food, wasn't as austere as I had hoped, but didn't go over either day. Yesterday I went to the beach for a run with my 6 year old. We did 2 miles, he's got so much energy! 6 year olds don't like jogging as it's boring, so we pick landmarks ahead (logs, piles of seaweed) to race to. It's like full on sprints! My legs are sore and we had fun together. A great day. Monday is here and I've got gym plans and a healthy lunch packed. Here we go.
10/9: 192.6 - What? Suddenly the scale came down. I have felt bloated the last few days and today feel more normal, so hopefully I'll stay down here for a while. Never did get that workout in yesterday- discovered I forgot my sneakers! AAAAH! Instead, I focused on staying within my calorie range and I was successful. Today I remembered my sneakers, and I have signed up for a lunchtime spin class. I'm loving this 10 day challenge- it seems so much more manageable taking things in a 10 day chunk.
10/10: 194.6 - Again. I had a stressful day yesterday (found out my husband is getting laid off), and I had some wine and ate pizza for dinner as a coping mechanism. So the 2 lb fluctuation isn't unexpected- I need to find other ways to cope with stress. Hoping it comes down again! I did make it to spin class yesterday at lunch, it felt good. Today I plan to get in a quick jog outdoors- I don't have a lot of time but it sure is a beautiful day here on the Oregon coast.
10/11: 195. Feeling super discouraged. It's my own fault, I went on a crazy snacking binge yesterday, just gave up, and stopped counting my calories. I have no idea why nor what the trigger was. I also didn't get in my jog yesterday- I just didn't have time. I'm a full time working mom of 2 kids and I also have a small horse farm, and my husband is traveling for work this week so I'm on my own to take care of everyone. Some days are just too crazy. I have 4 days left in this challenge- including today- and I'm going to do the best I can. Today I have a walking meeting scheduled at work, so I'll get some exercise. I may or may not also try for a gym workout, depending on how my day goes otherwise.
10/12: 194. The roller coaster continues! I suppose this is how it goes with daily weigh ins. Yesterday was a better day. I didn't have time for the gym, but my walking meeting was a good hour long walk involving hills, so I'm counting it as exercise. I also did a quick 20 minute yoga session after work and before dinner- no small feat for someone with as many beings (little kids + animals) to take care of. Today the kids have no school, and I've got a puppy with a hurt leg to take to the vet- so exercise might be hard to come by but I'm hoping for a strength workout at some point. I want to finish this challenge out STRONG! NO mindless snacking is my goal for today.

@quiltingjaine I have never listened to weight charts or strict BMI. Not because I don't think they are accurate but because although they ask for your height it isn't as descriptive when it comes to body type. I am a European women with a bigger bone structure, although those charts tell me I should be between 115-125 I know that being that weight would make me look like a person hanging off a coat hanger (I have broad shoulders) so although my goal weight is 125 I am still watching how my body transforms because for all I know 135 might be the healthiest looking weight for me. I have a full body and being too skinny isn't ideal.. I need some of the chub to make me look full lol if that makes sense4

@abowersgirl I agree 100%! But 50+ years ago it was all about the chart! I have smallish wrists (one standard) and my shoulders are fairly broad compared to my hips - at least that’s how they were in high school. I know I looked emancipated at 118 but that was after 3.5 weeks in a hospital bed, too. NO desire to get to that weight again! I’m rambling.2
