It was really good! Definitely going to be a staple instead of regular white rice!quiltingjaine wrote: »@ssssanaaaa YAY for cauliflower rice! Have you tried zucchini noodles? I like them more than regular pasta. I have a handheld Spiralizer but like them so much that I spent the $$ for the attachment for my mixer. Even DH likes them and he’s a carb and sugar guy!
I tried them recently (bought them together with the cauliflower rice)! They were really good! But overpriced since I bought the packaged type. I'm thinking of getting a handheld one as well so I can just use regular zucchinis and do it myself!2 -

I HAVE to reach my goal this time. I'm going to make it happen.
Day/Weight/Comment
10/5- 186.3- I don't want to get too excited because I'm just going to jinx myself again lol. But I'm happy the scale is going back down again! No rice until I hit my goal! I really want to get to 185.0 though. I've been hovering in the upper 180s for a while now. Gotta get down to the lower 180s. Going to make this round the round I get to it! It's Friday but I'll try to do well today so the scale goes down some more. REALLY want to get to 185.something!
10/6- 185.6- Yay! I got there. Spoke it into existence I guess lol. But that's not my mini goal until it's 185.0 so got a little ways more to go. Going to try to do well this weekend. Not planning on doing anything that would make me go over my calories but weekends. Yesterday was under my calories. Went to chipotle, was pretty darn healthy in my choices. I've changed a lot since the past- I used to get a loaded burrito with cheese and all the works. Now I get a bowl, lots of veggies, no cheese, no tortilla on the side like I used to. Just making good choices for my health. Pretty proud of myself.
10/7- 185.1- Saturday was successful and scale was on my side too! Will try to do well today as well. Looks like I will be under calories today too. I'm almost at my mini goal of 185.0 but I don't want to stop my progress so will continue onto 180.0. Hopefully I can reach it by the next round. We'll see!
10/8- 184.9- Sunday was also very successful. Was under calories, ate PRETTY healthy (even though I had pizza). But I'm very happy. Weekends used to be a huge binge-fest for me. Not anymore! Really trying to beat that habit. So this means I got to my mini-goal of 185, so the next mini-goal is 180! I'm pretty excited and don't want to let the progress go to waste so will continue to do well. Today I'm going to work out (really going to work on my cardio today because I've definitely been slacking and I want to make this part of my lifestyle to help with maintenance once I get to my goal) and definitely staying under calories.
10/9- 185.4- Last night I had a delicious and pretty healthy meal but it did have soy sauce in it so I know that that may have led to water retention and I was also consumed a little more calories than usual. Nothing crazy but I'm sure it adds up a little. I'm okay with this. Just going to eat a little less tonight and hopefully that will help.
10/10- 185.6-
10/11- 184.9- had whole grain pasta last night. Was just as delicious as regular pasta AND it didn't lead to an upwards weight fluctuation! Yay! Hopefully I can reach my 184.0 goal by the end of the challenge! Also I finally tried cauliflower rice (below)! Was delicious!
10/12- 184.4- Had whole grain pasta again last night. Was really good, and I even lost weight this morning. This is a really good thing for me because I LOVE pasta, and I LOVE rice. But both always cause me to get an upwards fluctuation when I eat them. So being able to satisfy the craving AND still be able to lose weight is really awesome for me. Will definitely keep these new discoveries in my diet throughout my weightloss journey and after as well! 0.4 pounds to go to get to my goal for this challenge. and 4.4 pounds to go to my mini-goal of 180.0! Will try to get to this in the next challenge.

Hello, I just found this board. Would love to join even if I'm late to the party. I could use the help in getting to goal. I'm giving myself 5 lb increments to get to goal. I am hoping this group will help me stay accountable.
Let's get started . CW is 158.3, my GW is 153. Let's see how this goes.

10/05 – 174.5 -- (There’s that < 175 from last challenge!) Good day yesterday. Exercised. Ate in a smaller window yesterday and had an awesome, huge egg/sausage/cheese/spinach scramble for dinner!
10/06 -- 173.5 -- Very happy! Hit calorie/exercise goals. Did water aerobics and made my step goal!
10/07 – 174.5 -- Rats! Scale fluctuations! Not going to let it mess with my mind! Went for a last minute walk before dinner and made by 12000 steps in a brisk hilly walk!
10/08 – 173.5 -- Yay. Made ricotta pancakes to go with eggs & bacon for brunch. Ribs and black bean/corn salsa for dinner. Got in a long power walk.
10/09 – 175.5 -- Seems like a random big jump in the wrong direction. Happy with how I ate and exercised yesterday, so I’m assuming it’s water or fat cells prepping to whoosh.. Drank some salt water right before bed because I was feeling dizzy.
10/10 – 174.5 -- Everything was good on calorie and exercise and carb front yesterday.
10/11 – 173.5 – Here we go again.
10/12 – 173.5 – At last. Good eating yesterday. Only got 9400 steps yesterday. I was lazy in the morning but did Zumba in the afternoon.

I have a quick question. Do you just track your weight on myfitnesspal or do you use an app such as Happy Scale to track trends? Just curious!2

Round 55
10/05 153 I had spaghetti for the first time in months last night. I have been avoiding pasta. I am beginning to realize that I can have things I want, in moderation. As long as I eat well most of the time, and control my portions, then I will continue to have great progress.
10/06 153 I failed to mention yesterday that I tried a new workout Thursday. I am still sore, in areas that I've never been sore before. Needed to step up my routine, and it was tough! Found it on fitness blender on YouTube if anyone wants to try it out, but will fair warn you it was tough for me. I plan to do it a few days per week.
10/07 153 Going to work extra hard this coming week on keeping my carbs and sugar under because I will be going away to stay with my sister next weekend. I know there will be lots of temptation! I know I will not totally ruin it though because my willpower is so much stronger now.
10/08 152.5 😊 I weighed after my walk though. I was way under on calories yesterday, but WHAT I ate wasnt healthy.
10/09 153 a family member brought over brownies yesterday, and I had tacos for dinner. I didn't drink enough water either. It's ok though, going to make better choices today and make sure I drink plenty of water.
10/10 152 I knew I was retaining water yesterday. I have not missed a day of exercise in weeks and sometimes exercise twice/day, and also always stay under. Love seeing results! I know I can set myself back for days or even a week this weekend while I'm away, so I am keeping that in mind also.
10/11 152 😊 7 pounds away from a "normal" bmi. I know those things are only a guide but it's for sure making me feel good about myself.
10/12 152 Leaving today to stay with my sister for the weekend. I think she has scales so I will try and weigh in while there. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

I’m 5’3” and 43.
Round 54 (my round 1) SW187 FW183.4
Round 55 (my round 2) SW 183 my goal for this round is 179
10/5 183.4 whew, I was afraid I was up! I had a busy few days and logged food, but didn’t check in here. Been doing a good job of keeping calories and carbs down - until my mom brought over pumpkin pie last night. Carbs and sweets are my downfall. Today I’m not working out as it is my rest day but planning to keep active and keep calories way down as the weekend is coming!
10/6 182 and so happy to see this downward trend. My exercise class was canceled this morning so now I’m trying to find something to do. Probably will end up walking the dog but was hoping for a more intense and full body workout. Tomorrow is going to be a major test as we have a birthday party and my favorite cherry cake will be served. So I’ll just have to plan for it.
10/7 182 this morning. Today hasn’t been a good eating day as I went to a birthday party. I skipped breakfast in preparation. I filled 3/4 of my plate with veggies and the rest was a chicken potato dish. Then the cake and, yes, a second piece of cake. Here’s the thing: delicious, but after the forth bite it was just too sweet. Did that make me stop? No. And I need to figure out why. Has anyone else figured this out? Now I’ve crashed on the couch and had to take a short nap. Sugar...who invented this stuff anyway?!!
10/8 184.6 ugh. So disappointed in myself. Yesterday’s birthday feast has already caught up to me. I both went to bed and woke up feeling like crap. Maybe it’s a good reminder to lay off the sugar. Im seriously going to think of it as a drug and that I’m addicted to it - once I have a taste I can’t seem to stop from yet another slice of cake. I even did the whole “gotta even it out” from the remaining cake thing. I’m low carb-ing it today in hopes it brings me back down. Had a great workout this morning. Fingers crossed!
10/9 185 Noooooooooooo! 3 pound gain in only 2 days. So very very disappointed. I had just an ok day yesterday. After all that birthday food on the 7th, I was really hungry the next day (which is really interesting). Yesterday I kept my calories under 1200 but I ate too many carbs. Trying to low carb and low calorie it again today with fasting and having an eating time between 11-5. Had a short workout this morning and planning to go to a Zumba class tonight. Hoping I can check in tomorrow with a loss.
10/10 184 well ok, it’s a start, but I would love to be back at my 182 and losing from there. Here’s what I’ve learned: when it comes to my big family parties I just can’t act like all the calories don’t matter and I still need to be in control of my eating. Also sugar is a drug that I am addicted to and I need to get in control over it. I had a great day yesterday. I stayed under both my calories and carbs and I did two workouts (30/45mins each). Today I have a busy day of work, so it’ll at least keep me out of the fridge, and I’m working out this morning. Goal for the day: drink a ton of water in hopes most of this is water weight.
10/11 182.5 I'm getting there. I had a goal for Saturday to be at 179 but at this rate I don’t think I’ll get there. Wow that one day of over indulgence has really messed up my entire week. Saturday I have an event that I was just trying to hit below the 180s was more of a mental thing instead of a physical one. I’m still hoping for 179, but will be happy with just any kind of loss. Today I worked out and I’m doing the low cal/carb and drinking lots of water. We have a fun evening planned that will include walking but not necessarily eating so that’s all good and should be a good day. 🤞
10/12 183 🙄. The fun evening plans last eve involved some kettle corn. But the crazy thing is my calories were way under, like 870 or something. Beyond frustrating. I’m hoping it was the salt from the kettle corn. Today there has been a lot of carbs as we went to an apple orchard and I had a bit of cider and had apple sauce - and an apple of course. I do have an appointment with an endocrinologist in a couple of weeks. Part of me wants a hormone imbalance to explain my lifelong weight problem, and part of me doesn’t - because I’ve been talking with doctors about this my whole 🤬 life and if I do have a hormone problem I’ll be so mad that I’ve gone 43 years with it and not one doc has listened to me and did anything about it. Sorry, guess I had to vent to someone! Tomorrow is my mini-mini goal of 179. Uhh, it ain’t happenin’. So I’ll go to my big event Saturday eve feeling like a loser - but not the good kind of loser. 😜9 -

10/11 - 175.6
10/12 - 175.6…..I managed to control my food choices very well during my outing last night and the potluck. I am on lemon parsley water today to get rid of this bloat I’ve had all week. I am also doing an egg fast today. I would like to do it for 3 days but I will take this one day at a time.
An update on my son: There is a reason there has not been a recent update. A few weeks back I caught him sneaking into things he shouldn’t have after having already eaten. I even found that he was hiding things in his room to overeat. I gave it a few extra days before a weigh-in because he gets very discouraged and gives up easily. He had gained nearly 6 pounds! He argued that he was happy to weigh almost 283 pounds. I know, however, with his Autism, I have to help him make better choices and keep reasoning with him without completely turning him off on the idea. I gave him the pep talk then made sure I was serving up delicious meals and snacks that would stay within his plan. I felt like I was doing that already, but I tried to include his favorites.
He has sensory problems so doing that with food is tough. I did my best. His problem is that he wants huge quantities of the foods which puts him way over his calorie limits. And he could never do a low carb diet like I am because he is too reliant on carbs due to his issues. Trying lower calorie versions of foods he loves often doesn’t pass his taste testing and he is hypersensitive to tastes, textures and smells. I knew this would be a battle but, my oh my, he was even cursing at me! Then I thought about my own occasional binge fests and realized what was probably going on. I did not share anything with him about bingeing (at this time), but understood. I am happy to report that after 17 days of "watching it" again, he finally agreed to weigh in and he was 276.2 which is 0.6 lower than his lowest weight. That was on Oct 7, 2018. I will be measuring him soon for inches lost. His weigh and measure days are overdue but I wanted to give him a chance to lose the added weight so he won't just throw in the towel. I am going to keep trying with him or I know he will end up T2D like myself and so many in our family. And he would never tolerate the daily blood checks or, Gosh Forbid, any insulin needles. So the battle has turned into a bit of a war here and it rages on. I am always grateful for those good days when his attitude is great and he is on board to cooperate. Have a great weekend everyone! We have snow flurries here in Michigan! Uggggg

10/05: 248.2 - No change in weight today. I'm hoping to see more of a downward trend this round now that TOM has passed.
10/06: 248.6 - I ate late yesterday.
10/07: 247.4 - I like seeing the scale drop!
10/08: 247.4 - I ate one fast food meal yesterday and it used up all of my calories. I'm so glad I don't eat out much.
10/09: 250.4 - Damn scale lol! That's my fault. I worked out for an hour then ate late. I'll try not to eat so late today.
10/10: 250.4 - I hate water retention! I tried a new routine Monday and I'm still sore. I plan to do that routine again tonight and I hope I can make it through the whole thing. I've been eating too much junk food lately. It's that time of year and everyone has candy. I've been trying to resist but it's definitely a challenge. People snack all day at work and smelling fast food and takeout has my cravings going mad.
On a sadder note, my favorite aunt in-law passed away suddenly of a stroke and I'm devastated. She was so young and amazing. She was fighting lung cancer and had a good prognosis. We were all hoping for the best. One of her son's, who was a twin, just had twins of his own. She was so loved and needed. I can't believe she's gone.
10/11: 250 - still sore from working out. I need to drink more water and eat light so this water retention will ease up. I have a Fat2Fit weigh-in tomorrow and I'm hoping I can drop some of the water by then.
10/12: 248.2 - coming down slowly again. I'll try not to go crazy this weekend! TGIF!

10/5 - 81.4kg, only down .2 from yesterday, did eat pretty awful dinner (under cals but high sodium), and didn’t drink a lot of water. Happy to see a loss either way
10/6 - 81.6kg, Friday seems to be a hard day for me (it’s a ‘weekend’ day). I definitely stayed under calories, but ate out and had food that was hard to track. I worked out for 30mins, and drank plenty of water so really disappointed to see this number
10/7 - 81.4kg, I’m glad it’s down from yesterday but I feel like I’m stagnating
10/8 - 81.4kg, I overate a bit yesterday but for the whole week I was good with calories so I’m okay with that. I’ve been going to the gym every day since Friday (nothing crazy, just 30-60mins in the treadmill), however still a little stuck on this number!
10/9 - 81.6kg...... why am I stuck!!! I’ve been counting every day and definitely under. I think I’m having a lot of water retention from exercising ? I’m going to have a today and maybe tomorrow off from the gym
10/10 - 81.2kg, finally seeing my weight go down which is super relieving. I wanted to go to the gym yesterday but decided a day off would be good. I haven’t been sleeping well either so that might be factoring in to this plateau. Drank plenty of water and stuck to 1100cals
10/11 - 80.8kg, sooo happy I’m finally seeing some progress again! I’ve had a break from the gym for two days now. Trying to drink plenty of water and sticking to about 1100cals still
10/12 - 80.7kg, better than nothing!! I keep reminding myself, slow and steady wins the race. I’m really put off by the gym now. I know in the long run it helps, but the water retention that made me stagnate for half of this round has just really deterred me from going again
10/13 - 80.1kg !!!!! So so pleased with this result. I think I’m having great success with sticking to 1200cals (through IF, 16:8), drinking at least 1.5L of water (and additional water through food and other drinks), and keeping sodium intake low to reduce water retention. Hope I can make it over the line to 79kg tomorrow

@mthomas0228 That sounds like so much fun!! It's my dream to live in a small community or town where they do things like that. Have a great time!!
@MadisonMolly2017 How is your arm doing? I know it's frustrating and it sucks to have a gain as well as
dealing with a broken arm but don't be hard on yourself. You are doing fantastic given your lack of arm mobility. You have made it to the goal you have set for yourself in November, you have not derailed with your eating habits and you are trying to stay positive!! I know you have been a bit happier because you are starting to loose but for those days you feel down or negative please change those things to positives.. look at how much stronger of a person you have become, especially mentally, since you came across this bump in the road. You are doing fantastic and you deserve to treat yourself like you are!!3 -
@abowersgirl The link Grandmajackie posted says that the start date is the 25th. "Starting on 10/25 JUST GIVE ME 10 DAYS, we will begin Round 56. Anyone can join us at anytime during the round." It also uses 10/25 as the start date and Nov. 3 as the end date. Did she accidentally skip ten days?2

10/05- I'm struggling, but I keep trying. I have been battling with a lot of swelling again and hair loss from Radiation.

10/07- Planning meals for next week, goal more exercise.
10/08- This is a hard challenge for me, gave up bread, potatoes, noodles, I have been eating to much bread since I had surgery eating more fruits and vegetables, going for a long walk.
10/09-Eating healthy, getting my steps up again.
10/10Eating lots of vegetables and fruit.Drinking lots of water. Today exercise was down.
10/11- I cut out bread, pasta, ... I have been trying to cut bread out since the summer, I feel like I'm in control of my food again- steroids made it hard for me.

Round 52 SW: 204
Round 52 EW: 202
Round 53 EW: 198
Round 54 EW: 195
Goal: whatever these 10 days bring!
Happy so far .. I’ll stick with no specific goal for the round. I’d like to be 160 generally, but my ultimate stretch goal is 150
10/05 - 195
10/06 - 194 - my scale may have been pulling tricks on me, kept flickering but let’s see! I didn’t eat enough yesterday though.. trying to substitute all bad foods except for one treat each day. Seems to be working f r now. Can’t eliminate all at once!
10/07 - 195 had a late night snack.. today’s not good either since we went apple picking and I couldn’t pass up those apple cider doughnuts!!! Let’s see how bad it will be tomorrow
10/08 - 195 it’s a miracle!
10/09 - 194.5 forgot to post it the last 2 days! doing ok! Doesn’t look like it will be a big weight loss round but that’s ok. I can tell when I put on my jeans and shirts that there’s a difference
10/10 - 194 woohoo! I just don’t have enough time to eat lol
10/11 - 195 I ate way too many carbs yesterday.. at least a lot more than normal. Pasta for lunch, pizza for dinner. I try to limit the heavy card to one meal if necessary! Hopefully tomorrow will be better... I seem to be under calorie goal so far.

Back to mfp after a long time! This challenge would be perfect for me right now to get me started.
SW : 178.2
GW : 154 (first goal [taking one step at a time] )
CW : 171.6
10/5 - 171.6
10/6 - 170.5 My goal today is to get hydrated enough and eat clean.
10/7 - 169.4 Happy with the results so far but hope this continues.
my goal today :
1.drink lots of water
2.eat as clean as possible
3.start exercise (walking at slow pace) at least for 15 minutes
10/8 - 169.4 scale didn't move down today. I drank enough water, ate clean, even worked out but still there was no change! Happy that at least i didn't gain any weight!
10/9 - 168.3 Had the same routine but wish my weight goes down steadily. I am not a very active person and I really need to move often and stay active throughout the day.
10/10 - 168.3 No change in weight today.
10/11 - 168.3 Again no change this time.
10/12 - 167.2

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieve permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
