It draws out the water. A former neighbor told me I should do this with eggplant before breading and frying to keep it from being soggy. All the years my mom had made fried eggplant followed by all my years and I had never heard of this!
@liann1970 and @FarmerCarla On keto, it is most important to hit your protein macro, not go over your carb macro, and use your fats to feel satisfied. You don’t need to meet your fat macro. Carbs are a limit, protein is a target, and fat is the lever to keep you satisfied.
@quiltingjaine Thanks for the reminder on keto macros. My initial ketone meter readings were 3 and 2.7mmol/L (that's when I wasn't feeling too well), but I was at 1.2 a couple of days ago, and I feel much stronger. I have to work on getting more protein, and, yesterday, I ended up with too many carbs. After I settle down today, I'm curious to check ketones. I'm having fun with this, and I definitely stay full.
Thanks for the advice on Zucchini and eggplant, too. Next time, I'm definitely going to dry them first.6 -
ROUND 55 (Round 2 for me)
5’5” 65 y/o Texas Lady
SW 178 lb.
GW 140 lb.
Round 54 – SW 178 lb. down to 171.8 lb. (6.2 lb. loss) This was my beginning of eating keto and tracking calories. I expect more realistic loss this round, but loss, none the less!
Day/Weight/Comment
10/05 171.6 I’m happy to be starting another round! After a big breakfast with our guests from Zimbabwe, Thor (my GSD) and I walked a little over 3 miles. I took water for both of us this time. Someone took my water before I returned for it, but I drank a little of Thor’s water. We walked a little slower than usual since I had a full tummy from breakfast.
10/06 171.4 No walk, getting ready for a 2-day bus trip, singing and eating with my sisters in Christ. When I joined the group, my husband groaned, because he didn’t want me to be heavy like the rest of the ladies. His fears were grounded, and I gained about 40 lbs. Fortunately, most of us in the group have gotten serious about getting back in shape, so I think I’ll eat okay this weekend. Thor and I will miss our walks, but we plan to start again on Monday.
10/07 On the road and off the scale.
10/08 170.8 (when I woke up) (170.6 after walk with Thor) I think I was experiencing keto flu the last couple of days. I drank a lot of fluids, ate plenty of calories that I didn’t try to count—including shrimp, ribs, chicken, veggies, and I ate a few extra carbs to combat the tired, yucky feeling I’ve read is common at the beginning of a keto regimen. I feel fine today.
10/09 171 Up a little, could it have been something I ate? 😊 Don’t worry, be happy! Took a short walk with Thor and a friend this morning—before the rain started. I read “The Movie Chair’s” blog on MFP this morning, entitled “Walk Through the Swamp.” I don’t know if I would call it motivational or a kick in the pants, but it’s a wonderful piece, whatever you call it. I printed out copies for a few friends and relatives.
10/10 170.2 That’s more like what I want to see. I found my Chalean Extreme DVD set, so strength training begins today.
10/11 171 (when I woke up) 170.2 (after walk) I confess I ate more than usual yesterday, but I was finally close to my target protein and fat counts. I didn’t have time to walk yesterday, and I didn’t do great on my strength training. It’s a lot harder than it was 7 years ago! Who would have guessed? I have a long way to go, but I’m pressing on. What have I got to lose?
10/12 170.0 That’s encouraging. Thor and I walked our 3.2 miles this beautiful, cool morning, and I didn’t bother weighing after the walk, since I liked the wake-up number. We stopped and drank our water after the first 2.5 miles. My toes didn’t hurt today, so that was an unexpected blessing. I’m praising God!
10/13 170.0 Fortunate, since I exceeded my carbs yesterday. This morning, Thor and I walked less than a mile from the house before my old hiking boot heel started flapping. We walked home a little slower and made it back without the whole sole falling off. I cooked a big breakfast for my hubby and me, and I’ll get my exercise burning brush before the rains start, hopefully. All things work together for good to them who love God, to those who are the called according to his purpose (Rom 8:28). I’ve seen that over and over in my life. Have a blessed day, Fellow Losers! (I mean that in a good way—I love being a loser!)

OSW: 212 (Sept 2017)
FGW: 170
10/5: 194.6
10/6: 194 - I went to the gym yesterday for the first time in a while. I've been exercising outdoors all summer, but yesterday it rained. It actually felt good to work out inside! A change is good sometimes.
10/7: 194.6 - I'm feeling a little bloated today so not surprised there has been no drop. I did pretty good yesterday with my eating and logging, but before dinner I was hungry and did some snacking on pretzels and hummus. I did get out for a long horseback ride and hike (i get off my horse and walk up all the steep hills) so exercise goal is a big check for yesterday. Today my goal is to stick to my calorie goal and fit in yoga and a jog.
10/8: 194.8 - Trying not to be discouraged. I had a pretty good weekend as far as weekends go. I logged my food, wasn't as austere as I had hoped, but didn't go over either day. Yesterday I went to the beach for a run with my 6 year old. We did 2 miles, he's got so much energy! 6 year olds don't like jogging as it's boring, so we pick landmarks ahead (logs, piles of seaweed) to race to. It's like full on sprints! My legs are sore and we had fun together. A great day. Monday is here and I've got gym plans and a healthy lunch packed. Here we go.
10/9: 192.6 - What? Suddenly the scale came down. I have felt bloated the last few days and today feel more normal, so hopefully I'll stay down here for a while. Never did get that workout in yesterday- discovered I forgot my sneakers! AAAAH! Instead, I focused on staying within my calorie range and I was successful. Today I remembered my sneakers, and I have signed up for a lunchtime spin class. I'm loving this 10 day challenge- it seems so much more manageable taking things in a 10 day chunk.
10/10: 194.6 - Again. I had a stressful day yesterday (found out my husband is getting laid off), and I had some wine and ate pizza for dinner as a coping mechanism. So the 2 lb fluctuation isn't unexpected- I need to find other ways to cope with stress. Hoping it comes down again! I did make it to spin class yesterday at lunch, it felt good. Today I plan to get in a quick jog outdoors- I don't have a lot of time but it sure is a beautiful day here on the Oregon coast.
10/11: 195. Feeling super discouraged. It's my own fault, I went on a crazy snacking binge yesterday, just gave up, and stopped counting my calories. I have no idea why nor what the trigger was. I also didn't get in my jog yesterday- I just didn't have time. I'm a full time working mom of 2 kids and I also have a small horse farm, and my husband is traveling for work this week so I'm on my own to take care of everyone. Some days are just too crazy. I have 4 days left in this challenge- including today- and I'm going to do the best I can. Today I have a walking meeting scheduled at work, so I'll get some exercise. I may or may not also try for a gym workout, depending on how my day goes otherwise.
10/12: 194. The roller coaster continues! I suppose this is how it goes with daily weigh ins. Yesterday was a better day. I didn't have time for the gym, but my walking meeting was a good hour long walk involving hills, so I'm counting it as exercise. I also did a quick 20 minute yoga session after work and before dinner- no small feat for someone with as many beings (little kids + animals) to take care of. Today the kids have no school, and I've got a puppy with a hurt leg to take to the vet- so exercise might be hard to come by but I'm hoping for a strength workout at some point. I want to finish this challenge out STRONG! NO mindless snacking is my goal for today.
10/13: 194.8 - I'm okay with this number. We ordered Chinese food last night. I didn't eat very much, but I know how salty it is. Yesterday was a rough day. I took our 9 month old puppy to the vet to discover he has the worst case of hip dysplasia the vet has seen. They are recommending euthanasia. I had my kids with me too. We were all heartbroken and so went to the ice cream store and I ate some chocolate ice cream for lunch. I logged it and planned for it and it was OK. I never got in an "official" workout, but I did play soccer in the evening with my son for a half hour and my fitbit logged it as a cardio workout- so I am counting it- I was sweaty indeed. One more day in the challenge. My goal again today is to avoid mindless snacking- I was successful yesterday. I'll also try to avoid salty foods and stay within my calorie budget so I can maybe see a loss on the last day of the challenge.

Exercise: 6 of 7 days6 -
I really love this challenge and the participants, it makes me under control somehow. Even I cannot reach my goals, it's really better than nothing. So the previous challenge I really lost a little weight (0.3 kg/0.9 lbs) and that motivated me.
My goals for this challenge:- Drink enough water
- Exercise 3-4 times in a week
- Try to not eat junk food and drink max 3 glasses of alcohol in a week (I don't wanna be hard on myself because I can't)
- Eat nutritious food, not just all carbs
10/5 85.3 kg (188 lbs)
I got really sick yesterday, I was exhausted, lost too much water, however, also drank so much water. I couldn't eat enough.
10/6 85.1 kg (187.6 lbs)
Yesterday I was still sick, and I couldn't move and couldn't eat enough. I'm not sure that this number is my true weight or not. But I hope I could see 84's in this challenge.
10/7 84.6 kg (186,5 lbs)
Obviously, I'm losing water because of sickness. I don't drink enough water. Also, I drank a glass of wine it was really unnecessary and it made my stomach sicker. However, this morning I'm feeling better.
10/8 84.9 kg (187.1 lbs)
I'm really OK with this number. After feeling better, at night I went to the gym and really worked hard. I felt great I really missed going to the gym.
10/9 84.4 kg (186 lbs)
I'm so happy to see this number. Actually, I'm still sick so I cannot eat enough but it kinda disciplines me to eat well. I hope I'll continue like this.
10/10 84.9 kg (187.1 lbs) (before the bathroom weight)
I couldn't weight myself after the bathroom, as usual, I thought that's the reason. But also I don't trust yesterday's number 84.4.
10/11 84.9 kg (187.1 lbs)
Ok, this time not before the bathroom, this is real. I'm still kinda sick, continue to use lots of pills, cannot exercise. And also I should confess that I ate a cheesecake yesterday...
10/12 84.2 kg (185.6 lbs)
Good to see but not healthy yet, so I'm continuing to lose weight (diarrhea ). Yesterday I also couldn't eat enough until dinner, because my stomach wasn't feeling good. But at night I ate a few biscuits And also I cannot drink enough water I think... And cannot exercise
10/13 84.1 kg (185.4 lbs)
I'm feeling healthy today. Yesterday I really craved chocolate so I ate a little chocolate cake in the afternoon but I didn't enjoy much. My stomach was still feeling sick. And after that, I couldn't eat anything. I cannot that enough nutrition obviously... So If I eat like my normal probably my weight will increase, so wait and see...

@quiltingjaine Yeah I saw a doctor and got many pills, but feeling good today. Thank you

Weight training 1 day a week
Other 1 day a week for an hour (biking/tennis/water aerobics or walking if nothing more fun is available)

10/07 - 192.6 (Cleaned house for 3 hours straight!)

10/10 - 190.8 (Still sick, this is temporary. Woke up hungry but my banana tastes like nothing)
10/11 - 188.7 (I updated this on my phone but I can't find it... Being sick sucks)
10/12 - 188.7 (Still sick but on the mend)
10/13 - 190.4 (Finally ate "normal" meals yesterday. Being sick I killed the weight goal but haven't done so great on food or exercise. My asthma is BAD, I can barely walk up the stairs without my inhaler so a 3 mile walk is impossible. It sucks- who knew I'd miss walking. My Oct walking goal was going to be a bit of a stretch but now it seems impossible)

10/10: 195.4 Haven’t weighed recently. It is up though. Partially water weight from Thanksgiving, partially water weight from a very tough workout. Had my bio midterm today and did not eat well, but close to being under my calories. Will probably see another rise in the scales because of salt.
10/11:195.4 A small win. No loss is better than a gain.
10/12: 195.6. Ugh. Got a wiifit plus board and wiifit game for less than $10 CAD. Did not eat super great yesterday. Or today so far if I’m being honest.
10/13: 194.6! Aw yeah. Hoping this starts a positive trend. Hydration and fiber were on point yesterday. Felt judged by the wiifit board but oh well.

Day/Weight/Comment
10/5- 186.3- I don't want to get too excited because I'm just going to jinx myself again lol. But I'm happy the scale is going back down again! No rice until I hit my goal! I really want to get to 185.0 though. I've been hovering in the upper 180s for a while now. Gotta get down to the lower 180s. Going to make this round the round I get to it! It's Friday but I'll try to do well today so the scale goes down some more. REALLY want to get to 185.something!
10/6- 185.6- Yay! I got there. Spoke it into existence I guess lol. But that's not my mini goal until it's 185.0 so got a little ways more to go. Going to try to do well this weekend. Not planning on doing anything that would make me go over my calories but weekends. Yesterday was under my calories. Went to chipotle, was pretty darn healthy in my choices. I've changed a lot since the past- I used to get a loaded burrito with cheese and all the works. Now I get a bowl, lots of veggies, no cheese, no tortilla on the side like I used to. Just making good choices for my health. Pretty proud of myself.
10/7- 185.1- Saturday was successful and scale was on my side too! Will try to do well today as well. Looks like I will be under calories today too. I'm almost at my mini goal of 185.0 but I don't want to stop my progress so will continue onto 180.0. Hopefully I can reach it by the next round. We'll see!
10/8- 184.9- Sunday was also very successful. Was under calories, ate PRETTY healthy (even though I had pizza). But I'm very happy. Weekends used to be a huge binge-fest for me. Not anymore! Really trying to beat that habit. So this means I got to my mini-goal of 185, so the next mini-goal is 180! I'm pretty excited and don't want to let the progress go to waste so will continue to do well. Today I'm going to work out (really going to work on my cardio today because I've definitely been slacking and I want to make this part of my lifestyle to help with maintenance once I get to my goal) and definitely staying under calories.
10/9- 185.4- Last night I had a delicious and pretty healthy meal but it did have soy sauce in it so I know that that may have led to water retention and I was also consumed a little more calories than usual. Nothing crazy but I'm sure it adds up a little. I'm okay with this. Just going to eat a little less tonight and hopefully that will help.
10/10- 185.6-
10/11- 184.9- had whole grain pasta last night. Was just as delicious as regular pasta AND it didn't lead to an upwards weight fluctuation! Yay! Hopefully I can reach my 184.0 goal by the end of the challenge! Also I finally tried cauliflower rice (below)! Was delicious!
10/12- 184.4- Had whole grain pasta again last night. Was really good, and I even lost weight this morning. This is a really good thing for me because I LOVE pasta, and I LOVE rice. But both always cause me to get an upwards fluctuation when I eat them. So being able to satisfy the craving AND still be able to lose weight is really awesome for me. Will definitely keep these new discoveries in my diet throughout my weightloss journey and after as well! 0.4 pounds to go to get to my goal for this challenge. and 4.4 pounds to go to my mini-goal of 180.0! Will try to get to this in the next challenge.
10/13- 183.4- Yay I got to my goal for the challenge! But now I'm kind of concerned about how fast I'm losing weight, to be honest.. I'm not sure how to feel. I'm really happy about losing but you also hear so often that it's not healthy to lose a lot of weight fast. I guess I haven't lost anything crazy so maybe this is just water weight or something. Really not sure but I'm excited to try to reach my 180 mini goal.

10/8-
10/9- 198.0 - 5 am post workout this am. had an intense leg workout yesterday
10/10- 195.0 5am post workout. Ate well yesterday but ended up having a snack attack late last night. I was still under calories (7 under lol). workout 3/5 for this week complete
10/11- 193.2 5am post workout. losing quite a bit of water weight, I am happy to see this. 4/5 workouts complete for this week. Was under calories yesterday, im slowing experimenting with KETO, not sure if I can commit to it.
10/12 193.0 5am post workout. 5/5 workouts complete for this week yay! I haven't been able to get up consistently in several months so I am very proud to have gotten in 5 workouts during my long week. Failed at keto yesterday (ate a subway sandwich for lunch) but tried to still stay under on carbs. I'll try and give it another go today
10/13- ?? 193 something is up with my scale. Numbers were all over the place 3 different times (187, 197, then 191) so lets just call it a no change...today is rest day. I did well with keto yesterday. Im finding out there are carbs in everything and its so depressing. What do you eat for breakfast? ive had bacon and boiled eggs everyday this week im over it.7 -

Day/Weight/Comment
10/5 - 81.4kg, only down .2 from yesterday, did eat pretty awful dinner (under cals but high sodium), and didn’t drink a lot of water. Happy to see a loss either way
10/6 - 81.6kg, Friday seems to be a hard day for me (it’s a ‘weekend’ day). I definitely stayed under calories, but ate out and had food that was hard to track. I worked out for 30mins, and drank plenty of water so really disappointed to see this number
10/7 - 81.4kg, I’m glad it’s down from yesterday but I feel like I’m stagnating
10/8 - 81.4kg, I overate a bit yesterday but for the whole week I was good with calories so I’m okay with that. I’ve been going to the gym every day since Friday (nothing crazy, just 30-60mins in the treadmill), however still a little stuck on this number!
10/9 - 81.6kg...... why am I stuck!!! I’ve been counting every day and definitely under. I think I’m having a lot of water retention from exercising ? I’m going to have a today and maybe tomorrow off from the gym
10/10 - 81.2kg, finally seeing my weight go down which is super relieving. I wanted to go to the gym yesterday but decided a day off would be good. I haven’t been sleeping well either so that might be factoring in to this plateau. Drank plenty of water and stuck to 1100cals
10/11 - 80.8kg, sooo happy I’m finally seeing some progress again! I’ve had a break from the gym for two days now. Trying to drink plenty of water and sticking to about 1100cals still
10/12 - 80.7kg, better than nothing!! I keep reminding myself, slow and steady wins the race. I’m really put off by the gym now. I know in the long run it helps, but the water retention that made me stagnate for half of this round has just really deterred me from going again
10/13 - 80.1kg !!!!! So so pleased with this result. I think I’m having great success with sticking to 1200cals, drinking at least 1.5L of water (and additional water through food and other drinks), and keeping sodium intake low to reduce water retention. Hope I can make it over the line to 79kg tomorrow
10/14 - 80.0kg, super happy with this result, it has been a very rocky round, but happy to see this and meet my first milestone. Will be back next round too7 -

10/7 - 169.4 Happy with the results so far but hope this continues.
my goal today :
1.drink lots of water
2.eat as clean as possible
3.start exercise (walking at slow pace) at least for 15 minutes
10/8 - 169.4 scale didn't move down today. I drank enough water, ate clean, even worked out but still there was no change! Happy that at least i didn't gain any weight!
10/9 - 168.3 Had the same routine but wish my weight goes down steadily. I am not a very active person and I really need to move often and stay active throughout the day.

10/05 – 171.2 lbs Been very slow after the huge losses I had in my last three rounds. Went to the gym today and had a really good workout with my physical therapist. I work out 3 times a week now, and this feels like the perfect amount of workouts for me now. Been having a lot of issues with the mobile app lately, so I haven't been tempted to struggle with forum posts everyday. So slow and it's crashing all the time Been logging everyday and staying under my calorie goal since the last time I was participating in this challenge. I have been weighing once a week, was kinda nice to have a break from the daily weigh-ins. I have also chosen to open my diary to friends to hold my self accountable.
10/06 - 170.1 (-1.1) Had to step on the scale 3 times to make sure this was right 😂 Awesome!
10/07 - 170.4 (+0.3) A small bump up from yesterday. Not worried, still a huuge loss in 2 days. Ate a lot of sodium yesterday, so it’s probably just water :-) a mini goal for the day is that I’m gonna drink a minimum of 4 glasses of water today.
10/08 - 169.3 (-1.1) Whooosh! I’m seeing the number 6 and I am so happy! 😃 I did complete the mini goal I set for myself yesterday and I’m gonna set a new one for today. My minigoal for the day is to go to the gym and do some cycling, strength training and core training (for atleast 30 min). Good to see that my little plateau is ending and I’m just whooshing. My weight has been standing very still since R51.. but I have stayed under my calorie goal even if I have had a small break from these challenges. Sometimes the scale won’t budge for a while and I get a big whoosh after. Can be really demotivating to see that the scale is standing still, so it’s just a fabulous feeling when I whoosh like this 👌🏻
10/09 - 167.9 (-1.4) !! 😃
10/10 - 167.3 (-0.6) Now I finally dare to say that I reached my goal this round And it’s great to finally see number 6 on the scale everyday!
10/11 - 167.3 (--) No change today It is that time of the month for me today, so I suspect that I will see a small bump up tomorrow.
10/12 - 167.3 (--) Whaat! No change today either. Was really expecting a bump up this morning, so this is good news!
10/13 - 166.6 (-0.7) Almost forgot checking in today.. But I thought of it right when I was about to go to bed. Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend! I went shopping today, and finally it's really fun trying on stuff. Had to throw out my entire closet since I went from XXL-XL to a M. Feels good filling it up with clothes again! I bought 3 sweaters and a jacket I think I will be a S-M when I'm done with the weight loss, so the clothes I bought today will probably fit when I'm done. My confidence is slowly growing back a bit, but I still kinda see my "huge" arms. It's a weird phase! Hope I'll be comfortable with wearing dresses without sleeves and t-shirts soon, I just think I have to change something in my head ahah.. I guess it's normal at any size to be way to hung up on our imperfections. I also feel like I need to hide my stomach while sitting down, but if I look in a mirror I can't really see my stomach sticking out.. So weird to get used to not hiding away when wearing something that clings a bit to my body. I used to be at this weight when I was in high school, but I never owned a tight piece of clothing. Always bought tops and dresses that were a bit wide.. When I looked back at pictures at the beginning of this journey, I was like wtf I was actually not big back then. "What was I thinking?" I have to say that I feel more confident at this weight now than I ever was back in high school, I always thought I was the chubby girl. I'm gonna try to focus on more clothing items that actually compliments my body instead of hiding it away, maybe if I force myself to do that my mindset will change a bit. Does anyone have any experience with this? haha.. I want to retire from the hoodies and be more feminine.

10/05- I'm struggling, but I keep trying. I have been battling with a lot of swelling again and hair loss from Radiation.
10/06- our family had an early Thanksgiving dinner, I only ate half. of the food on my plate and with desert I was full. Took the rest home.
10/07- Planning meals for next week, goal more exercise.
10/08- This is a hard challenge for me, gave up bread, potatoes, noodles, I have been eating to much bread since I had surgery eating more fruits and vegetables, going for a long walk.
10/09-Eating healthy, getting my steps up again.
10/10Eating lots of vegetables and fruit.Drinking lots of water. Today exercise was down.
10/11- I cut out bread, pasta, ... I have been trying to cut bread out since the summer, I feel like I'm in control of my food again- steroids made it hard for me.
10/12- Feeling great, eating healthy, just have to get the exercise up.
10/13-Walking steps are up, lots of veggies, fruits no. snacking. Lost 3 pounds.

10/10 - 175.2
10/11 - 175.6
10/12 - 175.6…..I managed to control my food choices very well during my outing last night and the potluck. I am on lemon parsley water today to get rid of this bloat I’ve had all week. I am also doing an egg fast today. I would like to do it for 3 days but I will take this one day at a time.
An update on my son: There is a reason there has not been a recent update. A few weeks back I caught him sneaking into things he shouldn’t have after having already eaten. I even found that he was hiding things in his room to overeat. I gave it a few extra days before a weigh-in because he gets very discouraged and gives up easily. He had gained nearly 6 pounds! He argued that he was happy to weigh almost 283 pounds. I know, however, with his Autism, I have to help him make better choices and keep reasoning with him without completely turning him off on the idea. I gave him the pep talk then made sure I was serving up delicious meals and snacks that would stay within his plan. I felt like I was doing that already, but I tried to include his favorites.
He has sensory problems so doing that with food is tough. I did my best. His problem is that he wants huge quantities of the foods which puts him way over his calorie limits. And he could never do a low carb diet like I am because he is too reliant on carbs due to his issues. Trying lower calorie versions of foods he loves often doesn’t pass his taste testing and he is hypersensitive to tastes, textures and smells. I knew this would be a battle but, my oh my, he was even cursing at me! Then I thought about my own occasional binge fests and realized what was probably going on. I did not share anything with him about bingeing (at this time), but understood. I am happy to report that after 17 days of "watching it" again, he finally agreed to weigh in and he was 276.2 which is 0.6 lower than his lowest weight. That was on Oct 7, 2018. I will be measuring him soon for inches lost. His weigh and measure days are overdue but I wanted to give him a chance to lose the added weight so he won't just throw in the towel. I am going to keep trying with him or I know he will end up T2D like myself and so many in our family. And he would never tolerate the daily blood checks or, Gosh Forbid, any insulin needles. So the battle has turned into a bit of a war here and it rages on. I am always grateful for those good days when his attitude is great and he is on board to cooperate. Have a great weekend everyone! We have snow flurries here in Michigan! Uggggg
10/13 - 175.0…..First, let me say I am so happy to be typing my weight in red today instead of green or black. Yesterday was day One of my Egg Fast. It went very well. Nighttime is when I want to snack so I saved some cubed cheese just for that. Today was day Two. I hope that my weight in the morning will reflect more loss. I would love to end AT LEAST WHERE I STARTED on this round! Sheesh….. this has been a tough round for me. Next one has GOT to be better. Wishing everyone well for tomorrow’s weigh-in.

Thanks so much for the info on the lasagna noodles. I am elated that I can have lasagna again. Great tip. Also thanks so much for your compliment in regards to my son. I know you follow his progress as well, and I appreciate that very much. I share those posts about him with him.
I also want to let you know that I love the way you have worded the keto goals. The limit....the target.... the satiety part. I have never heard it put like that but it is EXACTLY what the goals are in keto. Well put!
@jaccimc63 Congratulations on Whiskey. I am sure she will love her new Forever Home.
@tiabirdie56 Well. What can I say that has not already been said? First-you were not kidding about a wall. It's HUGE. Probably the prettiest pink ribbon display I have ever seen (and I've seen a lot of them). Second, everyone here is right- You are not just lovely on the inside, you are lovely on the outside too! I adore all the pink accessories from the glasses all the way down to your shoes. Fabulous! You are a pretty lady and you don't look a pound over 150. Fantastic!
@mthomas0228 Thanks for the wonderful compliment. Best wishes to your child. Like you, I'm sure, I strive to be the very best I can be for him. I know you understand.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieve permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

@tiabirdie56 WOW!!! Tish, that is so cool! You look wonderful.4

10/14 84.9 kg (187.1 lbs)
I ate a huge breakfast yesterday, I admit that I really enjoyed it. And so until evening I didn't feel hungry and went to the gym and exercised well. However, I felt hungry late at night and ate dinner. I wished that I would finished this challenged better.8 -
Round 55
SW: 74kg May 2018
GW: below 70kg in Oct and stay there
UGW: below 65 by end of the year
Rounds 47-54 EW: 73-72kg with loads of fluctuations and excuses to over eat.
Day/Weight/Comment
10/05 71kg. New round new determination. Fell off the waggon a bit the last round, but went for a short run this morning. However, the excuses for emotional eating won't stop: It looks like we'll have to put down our 6months old kitten. She's in hospital now and they can't figure out what is wrong with her, none of the tests have shown anything conclusive so far.
10/06 70.8-ish not quite 70.5 yet, but below 71kg. Ate over yesterday, but ran, walked and went boxing in the eve.
Just spoke to the vet and it looks like they have a good idea of what she has (a liver shunt) and in many cases that can be managed with meds and food. And the vet said she's such a little fighter, it would be a shame not to try!!! So we'll pick her up this afternoon - probably much to the dismay of our other cats. And sod the weight and food logging for another day or so. I'll get back to it on Monday
10/07 -70.8 again. On my way to boxing class now, tonight dinner with friends.
Yesterday, I didn't end up eating until around 1.30pm and then nothing again until we arrived home with the kitten around 6pm. She slept for ages, then had some food and is now back to her feisty self, keeping me up half the night with headbutts and very loud purring. I'm so relieved.
10/08 71.5kg - no surprise there after a very big dinner and probably also some water retention from boxing. Packed breakfast and lunch today and planning to run tonight, will see how DOMS is gonna feel.
10/09 70.8 again. Good day yesterday, withun cals, even had pizza and a small ice cream. Went for a run in the eve. Today's plan is to not get carried away at lunch and then boxing class tonight
10/10 70.8kg - oh come on. Even though this is on a non-digital scale and less acurate, the needle has been in the exact same place. I suppose better than a gain. Patience and consistency will eventually pay off. And since there has been so much talk about plateaus, I know a few days is nothing to worry about.
10/11 70.8kg again. Ate ok yesterday and it was a eest day (only walked), but I skipped my run this morning as I'm still sore from boxing. I really could have done with the calories as I have my first leaving dinner with a colleague tonight.
10/12 70.8kg still. Had a lovely eve yesterday, after a hectic day at work, had to skip my lunch time walk so was under my step goals. Then, when I got home, I needed chocolate and ate too much waaay over my cals. I don't understand how I used to eat all these sweets and snacks without thinking it would affect my weight... So staying the same is ok for today. Boxing again tonight, maybe I'll make it to 70.0 by Sunday.
10/13 70.5kg, yes! It might even be 70.3. Weighed in very late after a lie-in, which also meant that i've not eaten in ca 14 hours. Went boxing last night and might run today - it's a beautiful but windy day in London, much warmer than usual for October. Tomorrow is going to be a rest day and Brunch with friends, so will probably eat all the calories for the whole day in one sitting...
I read through the posts from the last day and a half and love how much the conversation redirects from pure weight/food/habit to personal things. Thank you all for sharing. I actually had a dream about his group: @jlemoore I dreamed that you showed us all your Africa trip pictures where are you going? I'm in talks about going to Zambia for a couple of months for a job.
10/14 70.5kg no change from yesterday, I did blow my calories with a couple of drinks in the eve.
This was another stressful/emotional round, overall only a very small loss, but also not very consistent with calories, steps or exercise...
Upon reflection, even if I haven't reached my goal and the loss is much slower than I would like it to be, I have lost 3.5kg (around 7.7lbs) in about 4-5 months, which included the football world cup, holidays, plenty of normal life things that I have enjoyed and I went back to counting each time - so overall, i'm gonna call it a success, which I plan to continue. Slow and steady. And given that i've taken up boxing again, i've certainly built some muscle. I'll do my measurements again next round, see you there!9 -

10/14 - 166.4 (-0.2) I’ve lost a total of 4.8 lbs this round.. Totally unexpected and a reeeal motivation boost! It’s my birthday today, so I cut back on calories yesterday to fit in a slice of cake today haha. That sounds so horribble when you write it 😂 I don’t ever do stuff like that, but I feel like I’m just so close to my goal that I don’t want to sink my progress with anything. Anyway, I’m just really happy that I had so much progress this round. Cya next round 😍👏🏻
