:flowerforyou: Judy...my goodness...freezing weather? Where are you??

    :flowerforyou: Ok CALICAT...post away.

:flowerforyou: Phoebe...I think your best bet for the family reunion would be to eat something before going and maybe take some healthy food with you. I know, that sort of takes the enjoyment out of the reunion.:grumble:

I heated up a Smart Ones Breakfast Quesadilla but I threw it out. Just didn't appeal to me. Now I have to find something else for breakfast.

I am also looking for some dinner ideas. I will be grocery shopping after work and don't know what to pick up. Any suggestions?

:flowerforyou: Marie: I hope you are feeling. Its always tough starting on new medication. Please
let your doctor know. There must be something else you can take.

 Barbie: Hope all is well with your move. I can't imagine what work it is unpacking boxes.

 Phoebie: Sounds like you are having a wonderful summer travelling.

 Becky: Tonight we are having salmon, leftover Quinoa with peas & carrots mixed in and
probably a salad. Last night was Swiss Chalet Chicken. That was good too!

Got the new scanner today for work. It is not working yet has to have a download of something into
the computer. Doesn't take up too much room but there are wires everywhere:mad: I also lost

Happy Thursday!! Another beautiful day which is great since we are going to Navy Pier later this afternoon. My granddaughter has poms until 3:00 and two of her friends are in school. I have some free passes to the Maze so we are going for our last trip of summer, next week all the kids are in school. :ohwell: I went to the casino yesterday and came home with about a $20 win, better than losing. I am still doing well on maintaining and when I remember I try to record my food, always record my walks with Daisy so I am staying on track. My hubby's toe that he hurt on the recliner chair is all messed up. It got infected and the doctor had to do some in the office surgery to remove a part of the infected bone, he is not to do anything for another six weeks including not driving as of yet. He also has vertigo which we went to the doctor and will see a specialist on Friday.
Gosh I love him dearly but sure would like to see him get healthy and mobile again. He keeps saying how much he misses smoking and asks me to buy him a pack of cigarettes but I refuse. :explode: And how is your day??

Marie, so sorry to hear you aren't up to par today and hope you called your doctor. My husband is on cymbalta for anxiety along with other meds but they do not make him sick like it did for you. His son is also on cymbalta for his feet, due to the alcoholism his feet are in really bad shape and they are now going to try blood transfusions to help him. I hope they find the right med for you that doesn't interfer with your diabetes. We hate to see you ill, you are our backbone and our mentor.

Becky, most of our meals are from market day, they are portioned controlled and easy to make, my kind of dinners.

Judy, so happy to hear from you again. Glad you had such a great vacation but now get some rest.

Phoebe, I am not sure some of our people know that you and your husband are over the road truck drivers. Correct me if I am wrong but you are gone days at a time before heading back home. Your reunion sounds like fun, I love getting together with extended family, I hope you have a great time.

Buzz, hope your arm is better, it sure hasn't stopped your beautiful graphics.

Shirley, you are doing so good on your weight loss journey, keep up the good work,

Gayla, being busy and happy is wonderful, just remember to check in once in a while to say hello.

Jeri, another beautiful picture of your poppies, such a great photographer you are. I like Becky wonder why you can't go on your camping trip before the radiation? Did you ask your doctor if that is possible? Most important is that things are looking good and soon you will be healed.

I hope everyone else is doing well and enjoying the last days of summer except of course those who have started the colder days.

    Have a great day!!

Darn, my post disappeared into cyberspace again! But it's worth repeating as it contained information I just received from the Harvard School for Public Health Newsletter...
    Type 2 diabetes
*** A new study by Harvard School of Public Health researchers finds a strong association between the consumption of red meat--particularly when the meat is processed--and an increased risk of type 2 diabetes. The study also shows that replacing red meat with healthier proteins, such as low-fat dairy, nuts, or whole grains, can significantly lower the risk.
    Read more at <www.hsph.harvard.edu.>

I know besides my DH, we have several other diabetics on board, and I just received a brochure from Prevention on a book they are trying to push with a diet that completely opposes everything we have learned about healthy eating. It can sure get confusing, can't it?

Using a ThermoCare Elbow 12 hour heat wrap, plus Tylenol Arthritis Tab and I am daring to think it is starting to feel better!

I hope you all are feeling better, or continuing to be fine, and I do keep checking daily and reading your posts.

    Hello lovely ladies,

Just popping in to say hello. I have been super busy and along with pc problems, I have not been here again for a few days.

Missing you all and I hope to be back properly and food logging in a week or two, after I return from my holiday. For now though I will just keep popping in to read your posts and say hello.

I still find it strange how much I miss you all when I have'nt even met you. I thnk of you all every day.

Just have to say, Buzz I have a customer who loks like your double. I took a double ake when she walked in. I don't suppose you have a long lost sister living in Essex do you ?lol

    Love to you all

:flowerforyou: Deb, I have truly missed that silly smiling (?) face. Glad to see your post.

:flowerforyou: Buzz, thank you for the info on type 2 diabetes. I had not heard of the red meat connection. I am so happy that none of my children are diabetic. Not one of the eight !!! It runs so bad in my family. Glad that your elbow is beginning to feel better.

:flowerforyou: Sandy, I so understand your husband. I quit smoking in November. I don't think that I will ever get over the urge to have a cigarette. What is meant by "market day" ? Are you talking about buying at a market on a particular day?

Since my husband and I ride in to work together and our hours are 2 1/2 hours apart, not only do I have that much time before work...he has that much after he is off the clock to wait for me. So, today he drives to the grocery. He choose what dinner would be. And, like usual, we all ate something different. My girls had tacos, I had California rolls and my husband had bison burgers.

    Hello everyone

MARIE  I hope you are feeling better very soon. I just had a bout of something too. Bad stomach cramps and running to the toilet.  I didn't get a lot of sleep either. It was either the chili I had at Wendys or something I inadvertently added to my supper last night. I eat gluten free, egg free and dairy free.  Was I dumb enough to use my dh's margarine instead of my own? It really acted like a reaction to milk.

BECKY and SANDY. I think we are going camping on Sunday which will be before my radiation starts. I sure hope so.   I am trying to come up with an easy menu for us that will accommodate all my food intolerances.  Let's see.    Chili, taco salad, hot dogs, rotisserie chicken, cereal.  Hmmmmmmm

DEB.  I agree with you about missing this bunch of fun people. Talk about nice friends to have in your corner.

BUZZ. Hope you are feeling better too. And Sandy is right, your graphics are so catchy.

I went to a seminar about After Breast Surgery this morning.  It was pretty good but in was so tired after my awful sleep that I had to force myself to stay awake.

We went for a great walk yesterday to a new park that just opened just west of Calgary. Here's a photo.

    BE CAREFUL JAKE!!!!

    Older Men Scam
Women often receive warnings about protecting themselves at the mall and
in dark parking lots, etc. This is the first warning I have seen for men. I
wanted to pass it on in case you haven't heard about it.

A 'heads up' for those men who may be regular customers at Lowes, Home
Depot, Costco, or even Wal-Mart. This one caught me totally by surprise.
Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping.
Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't
be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends.

    Here's how the scam works:
Two nice-looking, college-aged girls will come over to your car or truck
as you are packing your purchases into your vehicle. They both start wiping
your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their breasts almost falling out
of their skimpy tank-tops. (It's impossible not to look).

When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say, "No", but instead ask
    for a ride to McDonald's.

You agree and they climb into the vehicle. On the way, they start
undressing. Then one of them starts crawling all over you, while the other
    one steals your wallet.

    I had my wallet stolen June 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th,
    24th, & 29th. Also July 1st & 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 23rd, 26th &
27th, and very likely again this upcoming weekend.

So tell your friends to be careful. What a horrible way to take advantage
of us older men. Warn your friends to be vigilant.

Wal-Mart has wallets on sale for $2.99 each. I found even cheaper ones for
$.99 at the Dollar Store and bought them out in three of their storejavascript:add_smiley('grumble','post_body')s.

Also, you never get to eat at McDonald's. I've already lost 11 pounds just
running back and forth from Lowes, to Home Depot, to Costco, Etc.
So please, send this on to all the older men that you know and warn them
to be on the lookout for this scam. (The best times are just before lunch
and around 4:30 in the afternoon.)

    Let's be safe out there.

Sandy, I appreciate your sharing this important warning with me. so will this be a new weight loss plan

And they just keep coming................another one for Jake!!
Ed and Linda met while on a singles cruise and Ed fell head over heels for her.

When they discovered they lived in the same city only a few miles apart Ed was ecstatic. He immediately started asking her out when they got home.
Within a couple of weeks, Ed had taken Linda to dance clubs, restaurants, concerts, movies, and museums. Ed became convinced that Linda was indeed his soul mate and true love. Every date seemed better than the last.
On the one-month anniversary of their first dinner on the cruise ship, Ed took Linda to a fine restaurant. While having cocktails and waiting for their salad, Ed said,
"I guess you can tell I'm very much in love with you. I'd like a little serious talk before our relationship continues to the next stage. So, before I get a box out of my jacket and ask you a life changing question, it's only fair to warn you, I'm a total golf nut. I play golf, I read about golf, I watch golf on TV. In short, I eat, sleep, and breathe golf. If that's going to be a problem for us, you'd better say so now!"
Linda took a deep breath and responded, "Ed, that certainly won't be a problem. I love you as you are and I love golf too; but, since we're being totally honest with each other, you need to know that for the last five years I've been a hooker."
Ed said, "I bet it's because you're not keeping your wrists straight when you hit the ball."

 I am so glad to be back with you again.

 as good as our plans were to have the phone, TV, and internet set up right away at the new house, an unforeseen problem postponed the TV and internet for almost a week. the Direct TV guy came on Friday right after lunch and told us that he couldn't set up the satellite because all the beautiful trees around our house made a HD TV satellite signal impossible.:cry:      after mumbling a bit, we drove the the cable TV store and found that we could shift our TV, Phone, and internet to broadband cable for less money than we had been paying before and get some TV stations that Jake wanted (Canadian TV stations and a station that carries hockey games). but they couldn't come and do the installation until today. Now we have to learn all the new procedures for cable TV DVR recording but in time it will be easy and all will be back to normal.

 my "log in" streak on MFP got interrupted so now I'm back to square one. I found that I could use the internet for a few minutes at the library so I started logging in a few days ago but didn't have time to do anything else.

 we love our new home. The dogs love all the places we can walk. Bernie has become more friendly and loving now that he is indoors all the time. There are deer that walk around our neighborhood. I am loving putting things in order and "nesting" in my new house.

    hugs to all of you

BARBIE. Your new places sounds wonderful. Did you have to get a new email address too? We've never switched because that is such a hassle. However I am starting to move lots of things to gmail.

    Jeri,
we already had gmail so there was no problem with a new e mail address.....I'd already had that problem when we moved to Washington in 2004. thank you for all the fabulous photos that you post......you have a real talent for capturing beauty.

Hi to all you lovely ladies (and Jake) - it's so funny the things we get used to...checking in on MPF every day for one and not having access to the internet was harder than I thought it would be...I couldn't even get onto FB for security reasons, they blocked me. a good thing I guess but did they not know how desperate I was to hear from my friends??[heart]

I was also wanting to hear how Jakes operation on his ear went - 8 hours in surgery which was a major -- that part went OK but he had to be rushed in at 1am Sunday morning with breathing problems - turned out he got pneumonia from the anaesthetic....

Next time I go away I'll have to have a lap top as it was free in your room but about $15 an hour from anywhere else.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes...it was a pretty uneventful day....the hotel had said they had a cake for me (didn't eventuate} and my husband said he hadn't got me anything but he would (still waiting) so the only way to cheer myself up was to?? yep, you guessed it, a beautiful buffer dinner with lots of Thai food that we don't get here so I sampled a bit of everthing...it was superb, ...

We had a few days in Singapore..what a beautiful clean city and a lot different to when we were there 16 years ago...my profile photo was taken on the famous Orchard Road but a few pounds less than I am now...not gonna weigh until Monday so will try and get back into my normal eating pattern.

The pools at the hotels were all amazing and so did a lot of swimming (moving anyway)

Brain is still foggy from jetlag ( worse than usual so at least i've got something to blame it on ) so am just off to get my fish and chips ..

take care everyone and look forward to hearing from you all.

    Good morning Sneakers

I've had a quick read through and see you are all doing alright although I want to know that Marie is feeling better today. I've been busy this week and shattered by the time evening comes so haven't been logging my food. I have been good though and the scales showed this morning that I'd dropped another pound so am feeling pleased with myself!!

Buzz ~ We have been warned off red meat over here for a few years now. Not just for diabetes concerns but heart and blood pressure too. I can happily avoid beef but lamb is a favourite so it's just as well its high price is prohibitive.

Judi ~ I see it's your birthday so hope you have a wonderful day. I love the yellow poppies, they look similar to a variety that seeds around my cottage that I know as a Welsh poppy. I'll see if I can take a non-blurry photo for comparison purposes.

Must go into town to do some shopping and then on to the allotment to cut grass and do some weeding. We are picking runner and French beans now and they taste delicious, so much better than shop bought.

Will do my best to check back in this evening.

    Take care everyone

:flowerforyou: Good morning Jackie. You have made me hungry for fresh garden beans. It has been years since I have had them.

:flowerforyou: Judy...HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Hope it is a wonderful one.:flowerforyou: Are you trying to access FB at work? My employer has it blocked here. Two weeks ago when I went to Florida, the airline offered WI. But, they charged for it.

:flowerforyou: Barbie, is it common to have to get a new email address with a move? I wasn't aware of that. Not that I am planning on moving in the near future...was just wondering.

I see that there are some other early birds here. So, I wasn't the first to comment today.
