So I added up my "scheduled" miles for November is 90 miles. Seeing as I didn't make my 80 for October I am just going for somewhere between 60 and 90.
Monthly question: I started running again. I took like a year (?) off when I was having some issues and it was incredibly hard on my mental health (and weight).5 -
Enough of this chit chat, let's log some running!!

@AprilRN10 - I’m putting this here so it doesn’t get left behind in October. you asked about bra recommendations- I think we have a whole thread on this in the actual group. But I am not smart enough to type and link while on my phone, hopefully someone’s else is. Like I’ve actually typed this once already and my phone disappeared it before I was done, even without hitting the dreaded done buttons. But... (guys this is your cue to tune out unless you care to learn girly things)
One of the best things that ever happened to future runner me.... is that when I first dared to go get fitted for running shoes, the gal I met with was VERY adamant that in addition to spending $100+ on shoes for the first time in my life, that I should also really spend $50+ on a magical running bra. Like adamant enough I may have finally agreeed to shut her up, along with assurances of a return policy.
But dude... I had no idea. First of all, I had no clue how much of my energy while running was being spent keeping the uh girls, ummm contained. I still swear by that bra. In fact, I even still have THAT bra, almost 7 years later. It does have a few siblings now. But that specific one has seen me from 210 lbs, to 165 lbs and back and forth a few times. I own no other bra, sports or regular from that long ago. So durability wise it is also awesome. And, every time I try anything different I’m disappointed. So, my recommendation is brooks jubralee (formerly moving comfort and yes I have some of both branding) ... I have a friend who prefers racerback who loves the Juno better... but I still prefer the Jubralee. Now, everybody is different, and even every well endowed is different. But that May still be the most magical fitness purchase I’ve ever made... and is thus my bra recommendation.11 -
My bra recommendation is for an actual bra. Im a 32F which is a really frustrating size. I have a 32E Berlin Electrify bra and it's been awesome. I tried a triumph but it just wasn't as good. From what I've read encapsulation AND compression is the best when you are larger. I've never had issues with these bras.5

I am in the 100 mile club again for November. I ran 120 miles in October and would have run more if not for temporary sidelining.
What have I done for my future self?
I became a healthy weight from morbidly obese.
I started running and lifting weights.
I am furthering my education.
@hanlonsk Thank you for the recommendation and for tagging me here as I had not seen this thread yet.
@Avidkeo I hear you. I used to wear a 44F. I lost 115 pounds (found 15 of them again) and now wear a 38C.8 -

Ha, crack that whip! I need to get started on November because this Halloween chocolate is adding up.
You have so many races lined up! Do you race your hardest in them all? Or do you treat some more as training runs?2 -
I heard rumours about a fb group? And @ContraryMaryMary there's a half at the villa Maria Estate in January... I want to tag you.... Lol0
-
I'm in! My goal for November is to finish the Big River Crossing Half Marathon on Nov 3 without injury and recover and then focus on improving my 5k As much as I can in time for St Jude Marathon Weekend 5k in December. Distance nominally 50 miles.
Currently not feeling super well - I hope I don't get a cold right in time to miss my half!6 -
hullo,
I've been lurking, and spent a good couple of hours catching up.
well done to all who raced, did PB's etc.
Special shout out to @RunRachelleRun on your surgery good news, to @marisap2010 hope you are recovering well after your car accident and to @rheddmobile - you randomly went for a run wearing a unicorn horn headband. I LOVE you for that.
In answer to the first question - what have I DONE for my tomorrow me?
Ran a marathon. But I'm not satisfied, as since running that I've dropped very firmly off the be healthy run more wagon, and need a bit of help to get back on it.
Second thing I've DONE is found a group (tribe) of people who SayYesMore. I went to a festival last month and lots of talks from people who've done things like Kite-surfed around the GB coast, rode bicycles phenomenal distances, kayaks down major rivers, and basically just gone out on adventures both big and small.
I'm now working myself up to an idea of a long-distance fastpack thru-hike/slow run idea, sometime next year when it's warms enough that I don't need a million extra sleeping bags to keep me warm (and so carry). It's an idea, but to put it into reality I need to get back running again, further, and stronger.
So that's the 2019 goal. There's a HM and a Full in 2019 already, and a winter hiking skills expedition in the Pyrenees in January too.
running goals - am focussing on hikes for the weekends so my run goals are modest - just 40 miles for the month, but might start posting walk miles here as well.
1.11.18 - 2.8 miles ran.

@Avidkeo there is, but I had my hand slapped the last time I posted the link in the thread. But I am allowed to PM the link, so check your messages here on MFP. It is there.3 -

@elise4270 - I agree with @7lenny7 - all the running, cycling and lifting I've done is for my tomorrow self!
My daily running calendar last year had a page that said "You will thank yourself 3 months from now". I hung it in our little toilet room as a reminder and I still smile when I look at it. Although, I haven't actually thought to myself "thanks for running 3 months ago".
My goal is 65 for November. I expect to do more cycling which cuts into my running. I've run more this week than I have in months because the weather has been so perfect at 4:30am.
11/1 - 4 miles + lifting later
11/2 - rest day
6 -
10/30 - bike 11.2k, run 3.7k (5×400@5k; 5×300@recovery)
10/31 - bike 10.2k
11/1 - run 7.2k
11/2 -
11/3 -
11/4 -
Started out the driveway and my 8-year-old started running after me... I figured he'd go a few hundred meters with me and then go back home. But he wanted to do my whole run, and my telling him he couldn't do 7 km because he isn't trained for it (most he's run is 1 mile) only made him want to go further. Stubborn like me! I made him quit at 2k and we waited for my husband to come get him because by then I wasn't confident he knew the way home and I didn't want to change my planned route. Maybe it's time to bring back our "morning mile" tradition
Upcoming races:
November 11: City Trail Independence Day 5k
December 8: City Trail 5k
January 12: City Trail 5k
February 2-3: Lublin night 10k
February 16: City Trail 5k
March 23: City Trail 5k
April 7: Lublin 10k (maybe)
May 12: Lublin Marathon12 -

That really a great idea. A few months ago when i was feel this "ugh *struggle*" come on, I'd tell myself "one more month". Of course, I've still slipped. And with the last race pain i think I'm scared to run.
I woke at 5am like i wanted to. Would like to have gotten on the TM and lounged before work with coffee, but i didnt get up. I suppose i need to get uo and my body will find the energy once its moving.
I ate horribly yesterday. I'm realizing that if i dont eat right it makes it even harder to exercise.
I'm going to download the zombie run app. And i need to find a way to th Y so even the shortest strength exercises. I need a buddy. And a paid buddy might have me so things i shouldnt... But then i sont like people so im not sure how to find a buddy. Ooh, tell me my buddy is already at the y!

I was just short of 130 miles in September and October, so I'm going to shoot for 130 this month! My daily distance is about 5.2 miles, so I'd also like to have one or two days of running 6-10 miles. The most I've ever run at a time is 9 miles a few years ago on New Year's Eve.5

@Elise4270 I like your new profile pic! How long have you been diving? I got certified in the 80's, and have my Master Scuba Diver certification. Haven't been diving in probably 7 years, but used to love it.
We had one of the busiest Halloween's ever. It was off and on raining, but kids were constant. Had over 80. Turned the light off about 9:30, and had just a handful of candy left. Yay.4 -
We are traveling this week so no handing out (or buying) Halloween candy!
@Avidkeo and anyone else interested.. you can find the FB group by searching on MFP or if you want to narrow it down further MFP Monthly Running Challenge...
I can no longer find the sports bra discussion but maybe @Elise4270 has it? It was a good resource. I sent a lot of the information and recommendations to my daughter since it really isn't an issue for me.5 -
Of course right after I posted this ^^^ I found the discussion!
