1 week into maintenance & I’m starving

So...the starving thing scared me out of maintenance, it’s been 3 weeks and I’m 6lbs down.
I will try again at some point but realise I will need a lot of support to get to that stage - it terrifies me but I know it’s something I will have to deal with.
so are you trying to gain weight now or...?0 -
No I’m not, sorry not sure what else to say really.0

I’m not sure I’m actively trying anything to be honest, just kind of getting through it0

i'm not sure what 'it' is that you're referring to? if you're just ranting that's fine, i am just not sure i understand your previous post about having lost more weight? are you happy you lost more? are you saying you are scared to eat more?2 -

Okay, so look at it like this: you have a six pound cushion to use to help you get past the WEEK (at the most) of feeling like you need to keep eating when you've raised calories.
Go back to maintenance cals.
Work through the feeling of needing to eat more. Get plenty of protein and take a long walk every day for a week. Eat your 4-6 servings of vegetables daily. The increased appetite WILL settle down, just believe. It will.3 -
I just can’t cope with it right now, this probably wasn’t the place to talk about it - I am waiting to see a dr. I’m not really the type of person to ask for help I think sometimes it’s just nice to be able to talk.6

Yeah, I get that...but the need-to-eat-all-the-foodz when increasing calories is normal. It happens to all of us (or at least a lot of us.)
There's nothing wrong with you and you're not going to go back to being out of control, it will settle down. Honest.3 -

so i asked 4 questions to actually try and help, and that's your response. ok.

Glad to hear you will be seeing your doctor. If increased hunger bothers a person so much that they would rather stay in a deficit and lose weight they do not need to, that seems to call out for professional attention. The phrase "I will try again at some point" is concerning- a person can't stay in a deficit indefinitely, and what happens to your body & health in the meantime? Wish you the best4

Thank you, I do have a plan of sorts and it starts with the dr, I think I might need to talk a lot before I get the strength to actually change.4 -

Ask your doctor for a referral to a therapist and a dietitian. You don't need to live like this.3 -
I think they are planning to refer me, I’m quite positive about the idea of a therapist, the dietitian makes me nervous.4

Found a kind of depressing newer study that shows that even after maintaining weight loss for 2 years, weight reduced Severely Obese people ,who lost weight with diet and exercise still had massively elevated drive to eat. I don't know where you started, but for people like me, bmi greater than 40, it does not bode well for long term maintenance. Whats funny is I can actually relate to what that state in this study. I do get full quicker than I did a year ago, but get hungry very quickly afterward. So, for now, I white knuckle on. I hope the best for you and find your happy place! https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29360396
**EDIT** I am still sub 10% bf most likely, so it might get better as I slowly bulk. I keep trying, but honestly, like many, we are scared of regain.
