Oh thank you you’re so sweet! Just found myself and my love of iron!1 -
A reminder that there is no better time to start lifting weights than right now! I'm down almost 70lbs. and hanging out at 126lbs. at 5'1" and moving into a size 2. A well-designed strength program has improved my body composition so much as I've lost weight. It has given me so many new goals to work toward beyond weight loss. I've had five children and I'm in the best shape of my adult life. No regrets about picking up the weights from me!45 -
I was super inspired by this forum and have been hitting the iron hard! There is a 19 day difference between the two photos. I can’t wait to compare again in a month!!!27 -

And after 3 years of lifting, now I look like this...

There is one area where you seem to have really bulked up quite a bit actually. But it's ok, because most people are very accepting of a woman with a large deal of confidence in her smile.19 -
Wow @quiksylver296, I never realized you looked sooo good (always knew you looked good).
I always use a small iPhone when on MFP, so teeny tiny pics.
Today I decided to see what it was like on my laptop, big pics are sooo much better
Cheers, h.5 -

I can't believe I forgot to share this!!!
Monday, I did a full 5x5 of 85 lb. OHP! That's the most I've done of a full 5x5.
Tonight, if the weather cooperates, I'll be attempting a PR of barbell rows at 125 lbs.14 -
I've been away from the forums for a few years but this thread is sitll here and I am so happy I found it again. It deserves a bump!7

Welcome back1 -
Decent chance that with 118 pages of comments on this thread that it's already been said ... but I'll risk repeating.
I keep seeing comments about being "intimidated" to go heavy with lifting, or step into the perceived "zone" of the free weight part of the gym only for the gym rat do you even lift brahs, etc.
As a guy who enjoys working out with free weights more than any machine please don't assume the 6'4" 230lb guy in the free weight area is judging/concerned about anyone else also trying to utilize the free weight area.
I truly don't care if you're female, male, overweight, underweight, highschool or retired
Your mere presence at the same gym and willingness to come to utilize the free weights to meet whatever goals/objective you have is no different than what has me here doing the same.
So come on over to the free weights, come to the squat cage ... ask me a question if you have one, or let me do me and you do you ... it's all good!

I really miss my heavy lifting as I had a rotator cuff surgery 11 weeks ago and cant do much with weights and notice my body has changed so much and I cant wait to get back to it again....I am getting very bored with elliptical and bike and a few leg machines I am allowed to do. I tell all the women I meet they need to add weights and I will do them as soon as I get the ok from the doctor.4

Getting my confidence back after a few months of injury/general laxity. Trying to make the most of things before hip surgery and more enforcement idleness. Love how I can feel like a total bada$$ in the gym but completely elegant for a night out.
Totally random, but made me smile—I was googling how to get rid of food smells from hands after cooking, saw many suggestions of rubbing them on stainless steel. Went to the gym and after an hour of lifting, voila, smell gone. Apparently a barbell does the trick just as well.

Still here. Still bulky. No new pictures though because I have decided to start my lifting program over again to perfect my form.4

I think I began lifting (SL 5x5) in March of 2016 (top right photo). Weighed 151.7 lbs
Other two photos are 1.1.2019. No longer doing SL but still lift about 4-5 days a week. Current weight fluctuates between 125 & 135 lbs.14 -
