It's actually finding the time that's the problem.
I'm working my way through my uni courses as fast as I can, so I ended up taking a spring course which I'm in right now.
Plus my work is starting to give me more and more jobs to do. Someone left and I'm getting a lot of his work now.
Plus the people controlling my husband's life want to have meetings and exchange emails and make phone calls all the time. We actually took 5 days (a long weekend + 2 extra days) to go up north to host a couple cycling events and get a little bit of a break at the end of October ... (that just gave me a taste for it!) ... and even though one of them knew we were going away, she kept emailing me insisting I call her ... even on the long weekend day! I ignored her, but if we were to go away for a couple weeks, I think she'd have a fit.
However, at some point I am going to have to say ... that's it ... we're going on holiday!! Probably around Christmas or early January. Enjoy the summer a bit.
If we could get over to the mainland, that would be even better! There are several places I'd love to go!! But it would have to be a short flight ... I don't think my husband would tolerate a long flight. We could think about the ferry, but I'm not sure how that would go either. It's 12 hours and if the seas are a bit rough, he might not be able to tolerate that very well. I have to load up with gravol and ginger even if the water is relatively calm.

The water heater closet has been completely rebuilt and the water heater put back. We have water now and will have hot water in time for showers in the morning. These guys are amazing. They worked until long past dark so we wouldn't have to be without water for more than one day.
Machka, finding the time and place for a vacation sounds very challenging. I wish you the best in finding what will be good for you and your husband.

Did one segment of 10 Minute Solution Butt Lift DVD, held my plank for 3 minutes, then took the extremepump class. The plan for tomorrow is to do the Extreme Makeover the Workout DVD.
Cari – unfortunately, Vince isn’t much on traveling, either. He’s definitely more of a homebody. Maybe that’s one of the reasons I so want to keep the condo. I love getting away. Happy Birthday
Viv – (crying for you)
M – Some people will go to any extremes to get protein in their conditioner!!! I agree with KJ – God made soap and water for a reason!
Carol in GA – it was raining heavily here, too. And cold. I had to get my winter coat out of the closet (boo)
When we went to see Jess’ school, that was the first time I ever saw a sign “tsunami evacuation route”.
Barbie – that was so nice of the guys to work long hours so that you could have water.
I took some pumpkin brownies to the gals at mahjongg, and on the way into the house, I dropped the plate. The bad news is that it was Corelleware so it shattered all over the place. The good news is that this happened in the garage.

Hi Gals,
Lisa – Excellent!!!!
Allie -I know you have wondered if you were valued at work, so glad to hear you are! Hold that close to get through the tough moments
Machka – vacations are critical I can’t afford much, but even a day that I designate as vacation – with no phone, and nothing I don’t want to do, can be helpful.
Everyone who asked sorry I worried you! I went away for the weekend, but as the house would be empty, I choose not to share, and then the place I was the internet was down so I could not check in! Rori – thanks for telling everyone that I was not in the fire zone!!!!
Rori was right I live 180 miles from the Camp or Paradise fire, have 8 families of friends that were impacted – 6 have lost everything (but each other) and 2 may have houses still, but all are evacuated. Between them all there are 2 dogs and 6 cats that are un-accounted for. It is all very stressful, and an additional stress that at this time FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) is being forbidden to help – it’s political! But the 6,000 + people affected do not need politics; they need help with emergency shelter, short term loans for temporary housing, car replacement, clothes and medical care. We are all stepping up in any little way we can.
I was down the coast in a town called Morro Bay for the weekend (3 days), right on the water – so nice, but closer to the Malibu fires – Morro Bay had good air quality which was an improvement over home, we are still being told to limit outside time for the rest of the week. I was visiting a friend that lives down there, and it was a delight, too much food, but as it turned out the scale this morning only showed a ½ pound gain, that can be gone in no time.
November Gratitude’s
1. Smell = clean dog
2. Technology = smart phone
3. Color = sunrise
4. Food = herbal tea
5. Sound = silence, but heard the coyotes talking, and loved hearing them
6. Nature = the waves
7. Memories = I think one of my favorite memories, is a conglomerate of memories – in the summer when I was a kid – Dad and I would go out to the grass to “pull weeds” we would pull a few, but really we would look at the clouds and point out the things we saw, or make up stories about were the airplanes were going overhead, who was in them… We were not in a flight path but way way high you would see a plane occasionally. And sometimes a small plane those were even more fun to make up stories about.
8. Book – oh so many I love – but the harry potter series as my god-son and I got them together and read them and talked about them almost every night
9. Place – I think the Grand Canyon – I did a 10 day rafting trip down the river for my 50th birthday and it was a life changing event and helped me grow and believe in myself enough to face coming home and being laid off 10 days later.
10. Taste – sweet or salty – for me it is always sweet! But favorite taste is my mom’s marinara sauce with meatballs, it cooks all day, and I could smell it from the corner of our street and knew one of my favorite dinners was that night
11. Holiday – tough one, I have a love of Christmas but it is also the day I was beaten by my domestic abuser so it has mixed memories…
12. Texture – I love cashmere

Re Tsunamis: They are a worst case scenerio that has been brought up off & on since the horrible earthquake & tsunami that struck Japan a few years ago. Stuff washed up on the California, Oregon & Washington coasts & our state started emergency planning. The effort seems to be on a back burner at this time, but is brought up eveey once in a while.1

Hi all,
Woke up early worrying about money. I don't have the problems I know some of you have, though I have been there in the past, but I don't like this feeling of impotence I have. The move cleaned out all DH's extra fund that he feels comfortable about spending.
I am grateful for all that I have and I feel very lucky. Seeing the fire damage in Paradise breaks my heart. My only annoyance is that I can't pay for the things I would like to do and would make a difference to the way the house works.
I feel bad about letting such a small thing annoy me, but I suppose it's about autonomy. Anyway, rather than fret about it, I decided to get up and talk to all of you.
The man is coming in at 8.30 to mend the electric double socket next to my bed. I may sneak in a question about the panic button. He's not an alarm guy, but he may have more knowledge than I have!
The power will be cut off to those sockets for a while, so the exercise machines, apart from the rower, may be out of action. DH is a routine type of guy, so that won't please him. I may be able to get out for a jog sometime today. Apart from the Parkrun, I haven't had a run since I've been here. Too many boxes to open!!!
It's passing through my head whether to cancel the spring cruise. We have paid a substantial deposit and that would annoy DH, but we did book it when we were in a hiatus about the move and had decided to give up trying. It was a way of cheering ourselves up! We could definitely use the money . Plus I'm sure we could find masses of fun things to do around here! I might just float the idea, very delicately, near DH.
The reason why we decided to get back into moving mode was because the ex neighbour had applied for planning permission to build on the land he had retained when he sold the house. Two houses ! That started us on the second leg of our journey. During that process the permission was refused, but we still wanted to move. We have just had a redirected letter to say that he is appealing the decision. Phew!
Out just in time.
Thanks for listening to my moaning. I do know how lucky I am, believe me.

Viv (((Hugs))) I'm sorry for your sadness. Was your husband a great guy?
Kellly & Machka When a bird deposits on your head it is good luck? ok...
Beth Yay! Enjoy seeing your prodigal son.
NYKAREN I would have enjoyed that trip to Arlington Cemetery. Sacred ground.
Barbie Brilliant advice to Allie. I felt as if you were talking to me, too. Later: Penguin Eggs are kind of adorable! Later still: Glad you got the black mold/water heater issue behind you. Good tradesmen you had to stay late.
Heather Sounds as if your husband is delicate right now. He chunked down all the change, so he's feeling a bit bruised, poor fellow. That panic button does sound like an attractive nuisance. Later: Moaning I think not. You have a lot on your platter right now, & everything is expensive & stressful.
Cari Happy Birthday!
Barbara Those Christmas Eve memories are very precious. I, too, have wonderful memories of Christmas Eve. To paternal Grandma's for gift exchange with the cousins, then either church or back to the house to sit with maternal Gramps and exchange gifts with him. The adults would have a cocktail which made all of us mellow LOL!!!
Janetr Thanks for posting those photos.
Felicia Handsome son.
Sharon What sweet memories about Sam. When I was a child, there was a Basset Hound named Alex who used to take his naps right in the middle of the highway that went through town. A major highway through a tiny town in Nebraska. Everybody just stopped and/or went around Alex taking a nap on the warm pavement, even the semis or big trucks hauling grain. He died of old age. I loved him.
Kelly That little divot on the backs of babies' necks...you've gone & got my eyes leaking...
Partner is at a conference. Just me & the dogs. We'll struggle through somehow.

Well, it is drawing close to the Christmas season ... is there any chance you could pick up part-time work at a shop for the Christmas season?
I, and several other people I know, have done that from time to time. It can be fun with all the Christmas shoppers ... and can provide a bit of extra cash.
And there is probably a little twinge of buyer's remorse going on. I feel that way any time I spend more than about $500.00.

Karen in VirginiaRegarding the "luck" of the bird droppings:
I've always heard that it is good luck to be dropped on by a bird, and it was finally explained when we went to Scotland.
Back in the old days, people didn't have indoor plumbing, even in cities like Edinburgh. So they used a "pot" in their room. Every so often, they'd toss the contents of the pot out of the window into the streets. Therefore, if you were walking along, and a bird dropped on you ... you considered yourself very lucky it wasn't something much worse.
Also, the streets were in a terrible state in those days with what was being tossed out windows, animals, etc. So when a man laid down his cloak to let a lady walk ... that was why. And it's also why men walk on the curb side of the sidewalk, and let the ladies walk on the inside. You were less likely to be hit by the contents of a pot if you were close to the wall, and also less likely to be splashed by goodness knows what as well.
Or so I've been told.
Makes a person thankful for indoor plumbing.

Today, I ran.
The temp was 29°C out there (84.2°F, for those who use the old system).
Distance: 4.30km
Elevation: 52m
Moving Time: 30:28
Elapsed Time: 31:43
Pace: 7:05/km
There was a minute there when I stopped to stretch ... and I slowed to a walk briefly at one point. It was a bit warm out there.
Plus there was quite a bit of walking too ... like 3 km down to the beach and back with my husband.

Hi everyone
Barbara your comment made me smile - Viv the SWSY is supposed to be hard. That's what makes the muscles stronger. We can do this! it was just harder than I thought it would be, but like you say that is what makes the muscles stronger. Thanks for the reminder, I'll keep at it and not give up like I usually do!
Karen - yes my hubby was a great guy, he'd been ill for a while but then developed an aggressive lung cancer which quickly spread. I think one of the hardest things is that I wasn't there when he died, the hospital had been trying to contact me, (I was already on my way) but I was a few minutes too late. A few minutes!- I was so cross with him that he hadn't waited for me (irrational I know) It's been four years now, but it still seems like yesterday.
You never know what is around the corner, so I'm trying to live day by day and appreciate the little things.
On that note, before I get too melancholy I'd better make a start.

Hi all
It's been a whirlwind of activity lately - again.
My husband and I were on the mainland (northern Norway) for a while. We were supposed to fly north again on Thursday but dense fog at the airport scuttled those plans. Our flight originated in Oslo and we had friends on it who were also headed for Svalbard. The plane couldn't land in Tromsø, so after circling for an hour, they landed at another airport. The passengers who were only going as far as Tromsø were bussed to their destination. The alternative airport is only 100 miles to the south as the bird (or airplane) flies, but Norwegian roads are so crooked it takes 4 hours by bus. The Svalbard-bound passengers got back on the plane and it took off ... but flew back to Oslo! Our poor friends spent the entire day on a plane and ended up back where they started. The next day SAS arranged a nonstop flight for them, and an extra flight for us.
I was supposed to give a lecture about 15 minutes after the extra flight's scheduled arrival time. I contacted the organizers and they kindly postponed my lecture for one hour. Still, after we landed, it was a rush to get our luggage, zip home and pick up a couple things I needed for the lecture (which went well despite the stress). Later the same day, we attended the release party for a book written by one of those friends who had spent the previous day flying back and forth to Oslo.
On Saturday we attended an interesting lecture by a local historian, another book release party, and a long farewell dinner for a friend who is leaving Svalbard after 12 years.
Sunday was my middle sister's birthday. She lives in Seattle -- 9 hours time difference from us -- and I couldn't call until late our time. She didn't answer so I left a message on her cell phone. Then I called my parents in New Hampshire to arrange a Skype session, as we knew that my youngest sister and her husband would be visiting. When my father answered the phone, I heard my middle sister's voice in the background. She was already Skyping with them, which is why she didn't answer my call. She patched me into the Skype conversation, and suddenly my childhood family was reunited: Mom, Dad, and all three girls. There's a technology to be grateful for!
More gratitude:
Nature - Lots of things, but today I'm grateful for the beautiful veils of drifting snow that dance over the frozen ground here in Svalbard.
Memory - This is a tough one! I choose the memory of walking out the back door of the cottage my mother's parents had in upstate New York, smelling the thyme my grandmother planted in the 1940's and that had spread everywhere, and climbing the cypress tree up onto the gently sloping roof of the cottage. I loved it up there!
Book - The Hobbit (and by extention, The Lord of the Rings). When I was 12, my family spent half a year driving around East Africa (for my father's research work). We lived in our car and had little space for anything but bare necessities. Every night I read my only book, The Hobbit. I must have read it 20 times in a row. I can still recite long passages from memory.
Place - This has to be the mountain slope above our holiday home in northern Norway. In spring there are flowers; in autumn there are chanterelles; there's always a view. It is the site of some of my most contented moments.
Taste - Mmmmm... those incredible raspberries from last summer.
Holiday - The first Sunday of Advent. More specifically, singing in the choir at St Jacob's Church in Stockholm on the first Sunday of Advent. The candles are lit, the music is joyful, and the church is always packed.
Texture - I'm currently enjoying the firmness of my own thigh muscles.
Abilities - My sense of direction. I don't easily get lost.
Yesterday, November 12, was the last day this year with "civil twilight", which means the sun is below the horizon but there's enough light to do stuff outdoors without artificial lighting. From here on out there's even less light. Until January 29, I'll have to run in places where there are streetlights, and use a headlamp for the stretches where they are too far apart to provide adequate illumination. I'm still completely on track for my goal of 1500 km for the year from July 1 to June 30. At present I'm at 652 km (405 miles).
I took this photo at around noon today. The camera compensates for low light conditions. It's a lot darker in reality.
Time to go out jogging!
/Penny at the11 -
I've spent a very good morning doing some more sorting out. The guy fixed the socket really quickly, so that was good.
I only did 400 exercise because I'm hoping to go out for a run.
Then DH tackled the wine mountain in the garage. Around a 100 bottles! Plus various special whiskys etc. etc. We have found racks and spaces for most of it. As you know, I have cut down a lot on my alcohol consumption, so we won't need to buy any wine for quite a while.
While he was doing that I tackled the cake making equipment mountain. I have managed to root out some tins for the metal dump. Made a bit of sense of other stuff and I have advertised my icing cutters on the Hove recycling site. Still got too much stuff, but I have found storage for them. I hope to make cookies with the grandchildren, so have kept cutters they might like.
It's a good feeling when you master chaos!
I just don't think I will be doing so much domestic stuff now we are here. It was a diversion for me, living in the countryside, and I was mainly doing it when I was finding it difficult to write. (I am a writer) My life here will be very different.
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxx
Just seen your post, Penny. You always make me feel very nostalgic. For the new people, I visited Penny in Svalbard 18 months ago on a cruise. She and her husband hosted us wonderfully for a day. We have since fallen in love with Scandinavia.4 -
Good morning all! Just posting my gratitude. #13 What abilities are you grateful for? I am grateful for my ability to "flip". In other words, the ability to take the bad and find the good and focus on the good. I am also grateful for my ability to put my nose to the proverbial grindstone to achieve a goal.
Hope you all have a happy day! Penny and Kim, great to hear from both of you! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)5 -

Morning, all...
Heather - I think we all find perspective here on our annoyances as we reach out to support the griefs and challenges of others. Doesn't mean our annoyances are any less annoying. They still are, it just helps me understand that in the larger scheme of things, they're just annoyances, not the galloping never-get-overs.
Penny, Kim - good to hear from you both.
Cari - Happy birthday!
Barbie - Glad it's all finally resolved!
Viv - Many hugs.
Had to share my morning funny... Had my first-ever video interview this morning (for a totally separate, local company, not a non-profit). They're massive, and it would be a step back into the corporate world, but they pay well. Was pleased to get to this stage - it's always an ego-boost. Well, I practiced all my answers, was completely ready for the interview, and turns out I had practiced all the wrong ones. But I recovered, gathered all my aplomb (love that word) and did great with the first three questions. You get two tries - if you don't like your answer, you can re-record another. The first three, I submitted my first answer.
The fourth one, as I started answering, Egg (my cat) walked in behind me in the camera range, then jumped up on the table behind me and was peering at what I was doing. Got so distracted, I petered out on my answer, which I didn't like anyway, and said so on the video. But I was so distracted, I hit "submit" instead of retry. During the 5th answer, I was grinning throughout (might as well laugh, it's not worth crying over), and it was about my best qualities. I began with, "Well, as you can see by my last answer, I'm not perfect. But then, if I was, I'd just be annoying." And then went on with the legit answer.
It's possible that Egg does not want me to work for this company, as I'd be working at an office, instead of at home.
Love y'all,

Lisa I love how you handled your mishap.
We go for our inspection today. I have a good feeling about this home. We were blinded by how well the other home looked that we offered for. I have a feeling the one we offered on and the owner declined our offer is rethinking she wished she had countered. I expected her to counter and she refused, so we moved forward to another property. This home we are getting into the home stretch has a better floor plan, an extra lot that we can build an addition if need be, and a two car garage. It also has a safer route to the park our son wants to use. I realize now homes for sale often put on their best face and can distract you from what is a hidden gem. Closing is in two weeks.
One of the hardest shocks is you breathe and there is another fee. Also just submitting an offer takes 60 pages and 30 signatures. Good grief. I do think I am doing a good job minimizing the fees. I am insisting on Title insurance. Another fee. It is worth it given this home comes with an empty lot. Our lawyer reminded me that when the built The Mall of America here they did not get title insurance. Appears they built on someone land. It was quite costly to get it straightened out. Especially since this home has an extra lot title insurance is a no brainer.
I am starting to sleep better too.

I agree, Lisa. Tiny, tiny things in the great scheme of things.
DON’T LET THE PERFECT BE THE ENEMY OF THE GOOD.
The Good. Today I went out for my first independent run in the two weeks I've been living here. I went round by the little park, crossed down to the seafront past the fish market and ran along the prom. Beautiful day. I had to wear my running sunglasses. I ran down to the Italian ice cream shop (which also does AMAZING seafood homemade pasta) and then turned round to come home, with a three minute loo stop. Altogether, taking off the loo stop, I ran for 58 minutes. Over my 5k.
It took 19 minutes to run back from the restaurant, when Google says it's 26 mins walk. (I run very slowly)
So, a good day after all. And DH found some Christmas ribbons and labels.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx
PS Some of the houses around the little park have wonderful stained glass windows, floor to ceiling. They must be for a hall and landing. Truly stunning.
I didn't wear my headphones as I usually do because everything was so interesting.

I have a dairy allergy so I was able to resist the Halloween Candy. Did have a setback when I found a big box of dairy free peanut butter cups on sale for a dollar. Ate 10 in 3 days, then got smart and gave them to my college son to take to his roommates. Oh well. I have changed my weight loss strategy once again (so far Weight Watchers Points (got too expensive), then low carb (not a meat lover), then Keto (gave me big headaches and jacked up my BP), and now simply reducing my portion sizes by half using measuring cups and a scale to keep me honest. So far so good, weight is coming off and I have enough variety to keep feeling satisfied. I was looking at pictures of myself as a 23 year old and remembered just how nice it was to be thin and healthy. That is motivating me to get this weight issue under control. Even more important since I learned that I have a higher risk of diabetes, heart disease, and stroke due to my spinal cord injury. Gonna keep eating right and being active and see if I can lose 30 pounds by the end of next year.6

Machka in Oz—I look at my online resources as you do—a way to keep them safe from fires and floods. I love physical pictures, keepsakes, and things that are real and tangible. But I back up as much as I can on my computer. If I ever need to grab and go, this laptop is easier to carry than my boxes of photos, and stacks of writings. Today when you can save to the cloud, it's even better. I keep a few hand-written recipes that were given to me, and a few cookbooks. I can find them online, but those sites don't have the specifics, like my grandma advising not to scrape the side of the pot because of “the bitters.”
Oh, and I too am grateful for indoor plumbing!
Michelle in NC—Oh no! Corelle is all or nothing. It either bounces without a mark, or shatters. I love mine, and I always worry about dropping it now that my kitchen is granite and tile.
Heather in UK—Sorry you're having to deal with all those annoyances. They may seem minor, but they can steal the joy out of your days. You want to be settled and moving forward, but it's one thing after another. Curious, what do you write?
Grandmallie—Having enough to share with someone who doesn't have much is one of my greatest blessings. Growing up I was one of those, so it feels wonderful to be able to share, and give back.
Penny at the North Pole—I loved your pictures! It's so nice to read about people whose lives are so different from mine. Norway is one of those places I'd love to visit. I envy your sense of direction—I get lost in my own neighborhood.
Thank you ladies for all the sweet birthday wishes. I went out to lunch, and didn't overdo it. After using food to celebrate for so long, this is a milestone for me. At this point I'm confident I can handle Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. I'm kicking around the idea of hosting a cookie exchange with the ladies from church. I'm imagining who would like my share of the cookies. My DFIL is the only in the house who isn't dieting now.
Gratitude calendar day 13—abilities: Driving. I'm so grateful I can drive, and I've got a car I love. I spoke with my mom last night, and she's unable to walk without a walker, and she can't drive anymore. She loses track of time and day, being alone for long periods. She lives with my brother, but he's driving and working long hours, so she sleeps a lot. I've considered having her move here with me, but I don't think she'd come. She's near all the family, and especially the great-grands.
Mobility is so important! I need to stay on track so I can keep it. In talking to my mom, I discovered my grandma died at 57, and my grandpa died years before her at 54. I remember Grandma was always sedentary, and she had early heart issues a decade before she died. Now my mom is having health problems, osteoporosis, and everything that comes from being shut in. She's only 17 years older than me! If it's in my power, I'm going to live much longer than my genetics indicate. More importantly, I'm going to work so that longer life is worth living!

Kim: I am so glad you posted! Thank you for checking in. :flowerforyou:
Heather: Moving is bound to create unexpected expenses. I hope things settle down for you in the near future.
Machka: I definitely live in a Fahrenheit world. Having freezing = 0 makes sense, but changing systems is a huge challenge. :ohwell:
Viv: I remember bits about your husband’s illness from when you were with us before. What a hard thing to face. I’m glad you’re back with us again. :flowerforyou:
Penny: We had a skype visit with our son and daughter in law this week. It was great and we appreciated it very much. I am also a Hobbit fan.
Lisa: Good luck with your job search. I think you handled the kitty situation well and it will go in your favor. :flowerforyou:
Margaret: Keeping my fingers crossed that the home purchase goes well.
Hair cut today. Yay!!!! I am in serious need.

Happy Tuesday Morning everyone,
Had an amazing weekend with the hubby and kids celebrating hubby’s 60th birthday month. Yes he gets the whole month because you only turn 60 once and I get a birthday month every year from my hubby and kids. It was awesome getting away as a family and we all had a great time.
# 10 Taste most grateful for is chocolate, I love the taste of chocolate
# 11 Favorite Holiday is Christmas, love watching my kids, nephews and niece open gifts, spend time with one another and have family all together
# 12 texture is soft cuddly blanket for snuggling up on the couch with a good book and a glass of wine or cup of tea

other liquids throughout the day can keep you from becoming
dehydrated. It can also help your muscles contract and relax more
easily. It's especially important to replenish your fluids
when engaging in physical activity and to continue drinking water
and other liquids after being active.
Stretching before bed — If you have
night leg cramps, it's a good idea to stretch before turning
in for the night.
Doing light exercise — Riding a
stationary bike for a few minutes before bedtime may help prevent
cramps while you're sleeping.
Choosing the right shoes — Wearing
shoes that have proper support may help prevent leg cramps.
Untucking the covers — Loosen or untuck
the bedsheets and other covers at the foot of your bed.
Pipcd34 - beautiful pictures of your dog, so sweet. Awesome job running the marathon.
Heather - sounds like you really have your hands full, hope your hubby feels better soon, as for the wine, if I lived by you I would visit to help you get rid of the wine. LOL
Janetr OKC - your ornaments are beautiful
Cariwaldick - thanks for the recipe
Paige - I walk on my afternoon break at work with a Co-worker who needs the exercise more than I do, and my husband is very supportive he will start dinner while I am exercising and I finish it up. This way I get my exercise in, he is helping out and we eat dinner together. Try doing 10 minutes a few times a day that is better than nothing. Take it one day at a time, try not to look at the big number but the daily number. It is also ok to let yourself have a favorite once in a while depriving yourself makes you resent the tracking days. We usually have pizza on Friday nights my no cooking day with our adult children and I do have cocktails on the weekends so I am diligent during the week and allow myself a couple of off days. I do exercise a lot so that could be why I don’t gain on these days. I have lot 37 lbs.so far and would like to lose at least another 5 if not 10 or more.
Ssarge2 - awesome on the clothes change I too went from an extremely tight 14 (should have been a 16 but refused to buy them) to a 10 or 12 depending on the style. I would like to be down to an 8 or 10 but still proud of my accomplishments so far as you should be. Also leg cramping while your sleeping is a lack of water, you should be drinking a glass of water before bedtime.
Grandmallie - you can do this, once you get motivated and start you will keep it up because of how much better you will feel exercising.
Rebecca - congrats on the Grandbaby
Kim - glad to see you are safe and sound, and glad you got a nice little get away.
Welcome to all the newbies - not listing names in case I overlooked one skimming over all the posts I missed, been off since Friday.
Hope all of you have a wonderful week

Good morning ladies.....well they are calling for the first flakes of snow here in our part of Ontario...quite early this year...hope this isn't the way winter already. It lasts long enough already as it is..usually into March, last year into April. So time for hubby to get the tires changed to winter. I am finally getting over the flu bug I picked up last wed. chest has almost cleared up and the coughing not as bad. Feels like this year's strain is more on the tiredness rather than congestion...still feel really tired just walking from room to room. Something is definitely going around here as daughter visited my mom (whose 91) on Sun. and she has a cold then after talking with her..... my brother and sister-in-law are also sick. the only one who seems to be healthy is my hubby...so he's going to check on Mom today. Getting my appetite back slowly and still hoping the 6 lbs. I lost during this flu will stay off. I've started my weight loss goal on Oct. 25th and it's a novel way of losing some weight but since I've had no success in the past...I will take anything I can. LOL We live across from a recreation centre with pool complex and they have a smaller "leisure" pool only 4 feet deep warm but not too warm where a lot of us seniors go to do excercises. Hubby and I have been going religiously since early October and I am itching to go but worried about adding to the flu I am finishing now...so we are going to wait until Thursday and see how I feel. this is the only place where I can move around freely in the water and my back feels great and not painful and I jog and in turn walk in the water for a solid half hr. Any more than that and getting out unto "land" is painfully difficult. My hubby walks the pool for his arthritic knees and finds this helps him. Well that's it for me...going to try to get some excercise by some housework in the condo and I am sure a nap will be called for shortly after that. LOL I am trying to learn to pace myself...everything does not have to be done in one day Mary from Ontario, Canada3

Taking a leaf out of Lisa's book, I just thought I'd show you a little corner of the living room that I feel I've got the way I want it. I'm a great lover of ceramics and I bought those bowls maybe 30 years ago from a little artisan place in the French countryside. The pictures I bought from the Marché des Puces in Paris maybe 40 years ago. The light doesn't do them justice.

kelly I admire your ability to "flip"--I think you are a genius at it! The ability I'm most grateful for is my musical ability--though I am no Istzak Perlman, I can carry a tune on the fiddle and can teach it better than that! It saved my life as a young person and set me on a trajectory that I never expected, but am I ever grateful for it.
Tough getting up and out to work today, I had to stop and write down a very basic and specific set of goals to accomplish and glad I did, I'm headed to goal #4 which is going to the gym after work to destress and feel better about putting off the clean up that is ahead of me, goal #5 and #6 can wait til I burn a few extra calories.
For all those tackling renovations and moves.....So stressful, just remember that some things can wait, it doesn't have to be exactly perfect, just safe and workable. i think moving/buying a house is one of the top 3 stressors a person can go through, so take it easy on yourselves

Good morning!
Sitting here while the glass company is replacing a panel of glass on the roof of the greenhouse.
A piece of laminated glass was $275 and labor was $324! Ouch. That includes all other materials needed such as wood, metal strips, etc. Water has gotten in there and leaves too so it’s a mess. It’s going to be sunny tomorrow, so I plan to get out there and clean it out real good. It’s connected to the house, so it’s something we need to maintain. We will have to do it if and when we sell this house one day.
I’ll be happy to move my ferns, geraniums and amaryllis down there over the winter. I can start seeds too early on.
Heather I know what you are talking about when you refer to your DH and money. My DH always gets a sick look on his face and complains. I always pay 1/3 of the share too!
Tsunamis and Earthquakes Anyone on the west cost should take it seriously and have an emergency bag right by your door ready to go. (Even for fires too)
If you wanting a nightly report and weekly forecast go to YouTube channel Dutchsinse. Dutch has forecast a 6 magnitude between LA and San Diego this week. There had been some slow-slips among the faults parallel to the San Andreas fault. I hope he’s wrong but he’s right 80% of the time.
It’s sunny today in Hot Springs but really cold!! About 35f. I think I start a fire!
#12 - Texture. My Coonhound’s ears. They are so soft! I love petting her ears! She’s barking at me in her demand to go out to check out the men working on the greenhouse. Oh Dolly!!
#13 - Abilities. I have great organizational skills too. I kept my desk and files so organized, people at work always mentioned it!
Here at home I keep organized except my back keeps me from cleaning up the garage, but my intentions are to rent a dumpster to do some major cleaning. There’s a big box about 3’ square in the basement that I would like to haul out of there for the trash.
I want to trash a bunch of files too.
My DM lived with us when we moved here and the garage (2-car) was packed full. Now that she moved out and then passed it’s still a mess. It was never straightened out. I had back surgery and my DH didn’t want to mess with my stuff!!
I’m trying to think of Christmas gifts where I don’t have to spend a lot of money. I just can’t spend like I have in the past. My girlfriend suggested making gifts. I went to Hobby Lobby and looked at fleece fabric. I thought I would make blankets but the fabrics are $10 and up a yard. They are cheaper to buy and ship free. I’m still thinking!!
That’s it! I kind of rambled on!
Have a good day!
