Hi Gals,
Linda – Welcome home!
Allie – I am so glad to hear the office manager is such a good fit – setting your own hours will assure you get the time you need for both your other commitments and to keep your finances ok.
Heather – you are making such good progress
Margaret – what a neat project to do with your son. Is the house “yours” “his” or both of you together?
Welcome all who are new.
November Gratitude’s
1. Smell = clean dog
2. Technology = smart phone
3. Color = sunrise
4. Food = herbal tea
5. Sound = silence, but heard the coyotes talking, and loved hearing them
6. Nature = the waves
7. Memories = I think one of my favorite memories, is a conglomerate of memories – in the summer when I was a kid – Dad and I would go out to the grass to “pull weeds” we would pull a few, but really we would look at the clouds and point out the things we saw, or make up stories about were the airplanes were going overhead, who was in them… We were not in a flight path but way way high you would see a plane occasionally. And sometimes a small plane those were even more fun to make up stories about.
8. Book – oh so many I love – but the harry potter series as my god-son and I got them together and read them and talked about them almost every night
9. Place – I think the Grand Canyon – I did a 10 day rafting trip down the river for my 50th birthday and it was a life changing event and helped me grow and believe in myself enough to face coming home and being laid off 10 days later.
10. Taste – sweet or salty – for me it is always sweet! But favorite taste is my mom’s marinara sauce with meatballs, it cooks all day, and I could smell it from the corner of our street and knew one of my favorite dinners was that night
11. Holiday – tough one, I have a love of Christmas but it is also the day I was beaten by my domestic abuser so it has mixed memories…
12. Texture – I love cashmere
13. Abilities – I’m very thankful for my abilities – I think the one that comes to mind right now is planning, I can look ahead and figure out how to plan out things that need to be done to make the most of the time and money available.
14. Sight- my god daughter smiling at me…

Couldn’t exercise 2 days now feel like I’m getting a cold or something not happy with that....hmmmm3

We have rotten air today. Smoke from California fires seems to have arrived. It looks like ordinary fog out there, but it smells like smoke. We’re staying in today and I’m working on knitting a baby blanket for my grandniece’s baby. I have a good long while to get it done, but I want to finish it and ship it asap. It will take a few more days of steady work.

Gratitude:
#13: I am grateful that I can cook, and that I am getting better at it. When I think where I was in my 20s, not a clue what to do in the kitchen, and where I am now . . . I feel like I could do pretty well on Chopped because that's what I end up doing most evenings anyway. I start with a plan, oops, we don't have that. Well, I'll try and this and substitute this, and dinner!
#14: On either side of our front door, we have long, narrow windows. One of my favorite sights is walking up the path to the front of the house and seeing either the dog or the cat, sometimes one in each window, watching me come up to the door. As soon as I open the door, the cat scatters, but the dog, if he is in the house, is almost always there to greet me enthusiastically. Pretty nice because the rest of the family doesn't bother to come down to see me until I yell up "DINNER!!!"

Machka - when you described your interview with your huge image, what came to my mind is they were interviewing the "Big Giant Head" - anyone remember 3rd Rock from the Sun TV Show? Hope that MRI proves nothing to be concerned about. I kind of like the idea of Botox for TMJ.
Lanette

I jokingly suggested that if he had a bit of the botox left over, would he mind doing the frowny bit between my eyebrows. He laughed.
But it's supposed to relax the muscles which might allow me to open my mouth properly. Once that has taken effect, I'll go to the dentist.
And yeah ... I kind of felt like the "Big Giant Head"!!
The Dr said the cyst is 30 mm in diameter and is on the left side. I don't know if that's big or not. And they need to determine what kind of cyst it is ... so I get "naptime" in another MRI.

Yeah Barbie! I’m so happy for you!!

Finally caught up. Will have more to say tomorrow. Just read a book about Alaska where they had bug out bags. Small world.
Lin _ welcom home, you have been missed. We are all your friends.
Katla- you ask me awhile ago what river we live on, it is the Brazos River.
Cari - you live close to me. We will have to have a N TX get-to-gather.
SueBDew in TX2 -
Did Prevention’s Get Moving DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do an Advanced Strength DVD.
Elke – how interesting…we’d LOVE to have you join us.
M – sending good thoughts out to you for your MRI next week. Hope it’s nothing, you certainly don’t need more on your plate
NYKaren – good luck on your ultrasound-mammo
Lisa – they would be absolutely foolish not to hire you. Even tho the final decision many times is made by a “higher up”, the lady’s recommendation of you could easily turn their minds.
Margaret – what a shock it must have been to find out that so much work needs to be done. But it’s great that you have people who can do it.
NYKaren – I have to *GET* facetime. Then I’ll have someone show me how to use it….lol
Cari – I’m starting to get ready for Christmas and my freezer is getting full. I’m beginning to think of ways that I can get more food into it. Why did I tell Lynette that I’d make things for her “open house”? And watch that she’s decided not to do it. What I should do is take some of the cookies that I’ve made and she can put them in the freezer at her work. Give me a little more room. Yup, I think that’s what I’ll do.
Lynn – so glad you are back. I sent you a friend request. Yes, very big ouch getting pinned under that car.
Had the Newcomer general meeting. Only 3 more to go (we’re going to be away for the 4th one). Starting to get the things that are mine cleared out. No sense giving them all the napkins I made or the serving utensils that are mine. Then went to Ollies hoping that they’d have some tea in those pod that you use in a Keurig. I don’t have a Keurig, I never used it enough to justify having it so I sold mine. Anyway, I’m a big tea drinker and they have a Keurig at the Green Room. I’ll be there so I give them some tea pods Ollies only had black tea in the pods and I don’t really care for black tea so we went to Bed Bath & Beyond and I got some lemon ginger pods. There are so many coffee pods but not many tea at all. Most of the stores don’t carry the tea pods. Ceramics tonight.
Heather – if you kept a list of your medications on your computer and just printed that out, would that have been sufficient for them?
Barbie – your stove looks a lot like mine, 5 burners, the warming tray. I love mine. I know you will love yours, too. So what are you going to make first???

Oh, just an update about going to Maria's for Thanksgiving. Remember I said that she'd find a reason not to have us? Well, according to Denise Maria and Dave are talking divorce (again!) and Maria doesn't want a scene. To me, you mean they couldn't put aside their differences for one day? But I knew she'd come up with a reason for us not to be there,

Kim the home will be in mine and DH name with him getting it as his inheritance. It will go into a trust for him again to ensure he will always have a home. He lost everything once in his life. He was on a downward spiral. This way it is protected from him refinancing it to get money out of it and if he remarries it stays his if it does not work out. He will pay us rent that he can afford. Our other son wants to open his own business in a couple of years. We should be ready to help him in kind when the time comes.
Michelle I knew it was going to need much TLC. This is why we are getting for such a good price. Son will make it his job for the next five months to get most of these projects done. We did get good news the radon level is fine for our area and will not add to our projects to bring the property where it needs to be. Some of the projects will need to wait for warmer weather now.

My sister-in-law posted this and I thought it was good ...
Nov 1 - my roses.
Nov 2 - social media and staying connected with family and friends.
Nov 3 - blue. The blue of the mouth of the river/bay/start of the ocean out my window. The blue of the sky. My new blue sleeping top that was nice and comfy last night.
Nov 4 - food ... cheese. I ate a lot of grilled cheese sandwiches when my husband was in hospital. They were my comfort food. Also cheese has calcium which I think I need. Unfortunately, cheese does tend to be a bit high in calories so I shouldn't eat too much of it. But anything cheese-y is comforting.
Nov 5 - sound. I like listening to the waves and the birds, but I think the sound I'm most grateful for today is my husband's voice. Just the fact that we can talk to each other again.
Nov 6 - "What in nature are you grateful for?" ... That's hard to narrow down to one thing. Oxford dictionary describes nature as "the phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape, and other features and products of the earth". I am grateful for all of it. I find that getting out into any sort of nature helps to relieve stress.
Nov 7 - "What memory are you grateful for?" ... Another one with so many choices!!! Recently, I've been grateful for two memories. 1) June 2017 ... my husband and I had a wonderful visit to Canada and did several things to make great memories ... hiking, cycling, visiting my family. I clung onto those memories during the months he was in hospital. 2) When I was 9 years old, my family moved away from where my grandmother lived. One of of the last days there, my grandmother took me to her window and showed me a full moon outside. She told me that on every full moon, we could both look at it and know that even though we were far apart, we were both looking at the same moon. That's a memory which has stuck with me all these years, and every time I see a full moon, I think of my grandmother. She's 97 years old ... but not doing so well ... so I've been thinking of her a lot. And I've also been very glad that my husband and I were able to see her when we visited Canada in June 2017.
Nov 8 - "What book are you most grateful for?" That's easy ... The Bible.
I've enjoyed reading all your memories.
Love the discussion about books!
Nov 9 - "What place are you most grateful for?" This is not an easy one for me because I don't have the sense of "home" that many people have. I've moved too much for that.
So ... I've had to give this one some thought.
What place?
Well ...
I'm grateful for our current house. It's comfortable enough. It's not very big so it's fairly easy to manage. And it has a great garden which my husband has been able to work in since returning home from his accident. It is also close to a couple beaches, which is nice.
Nov 10 - Taste! Hmmm ... salt. In the "Do you crave sweet or salty" discussion, I fall on the "salty" side.
As it happens, I have a diminished sense of taste and smell for whatever reason, so I divide foods into the basic tastes: sweet, salty, sour or bitter, and from there it's harder to distinguish precise flavours. Although, I do seem to have some odd tastes like, for example, meat and tomato taste metallic to me, and I don't like that. If I salt them well, the metallic taste goes away and they taste salty, which is OK.
Then, one of the side effects of my husband's accident is that he has lost most of his sense of taste and smell. He has regained a little bit, and they say it should return very gradually. But he'll comment that dinner has no flavour, and I'll think, "It just tastes salty to me. Is there supposed to be more flavour than that?"
Nov 11 - What holiday are you grateful for? Christmas!!!
I've always loved Christmas. I even picked up 3 Christmas CDs yesterday. I like having a decent amount of time off ... not just one day ... so I can get things done. I like all the decorations. I like the music. I like the services and celebrations.
Nov 12 - Texture. Smooth. Very, very smooth. Clothing with no texture. Textured clothing is unwearable. Smooth clothing is good.
Nov 13 - Abilities. Right now, it would have to be organisation. While I feel like I'm in the midst of a chaotic whirlwind (and have been for the past 8 months) and I don't feel very organised, surprisingly enough, stuff is getting done.
Maybe I should include things like endurance and tenacity ... "skills" I've honed from my long distance cycling carrying over to "real life".
Nov 14 - Sight. What sight am I grateful for? The ever-changing view out the window of our house looking over the bay and the surrounding hills. Right now it's all grey and misty but it still looks good.
Machka in Oz
Nov 15 - Season. The season I am most grateful for is summer. I love summer. I'd love it if the year were divided so that there was 1 month of winter, 1 month of spring, 2 months of autumn, and 8 months of real summer weather. We're coming into summer here and I appreciate each and every summer-like day.

Good morning ladies,
It's a cool misty morning here, but the sun is supposed to get out later.
Taking DDs car for its MOT in a few hours (whilst she is at work) well DS is driving it there, but I have organised the appointment I'm hoping it passes first time! One of my regrets is that I never learned how to drive, it would be so much easier if I could.
Been looking at the gratitude calendar now that I have caught up and will start with today:
#15 Favourite Season, I think spring - the weather is warming up and there are daffodils everywhere, everything seems to be "waking up" after the long hard winter. The season I like least is Winter! I hate walking the dog on cold frosty mornings, I'm so cold no matter how much I wrap up.
Lots to do this morning, so better make a start.

Thursday 15 November ...
I set a Personal Best on the 10K distance today!!
I wasn't planning on running 10 km today ... I was planning to run 8 km. And when it started raining, I thought I might call it a day at 6 km. But I just kept running and running, and finally turned around and ran back, and there it was ... 10 km.
I certainly didn't expect a PB either. I was running fairly casually and thought I was going to end up with quite a slow 10K, so I had to do a double-take when Strava showed a PB!! I beat my previous 10 km (last January) by 1 minute.
Distance: 10.04 km
Elevation 87 m
Moving Time: 1:14:13
Elapsed Time: 1:15:31
Pace: 7:24/km
Machka in Oz6 -
Yay Machka! Funny how that happens sometimes. I was out running a while ago and everything felt fine so I ran 10 km instead of the 5.5 km I originally intended. Because of my low perceived exertion I thought I was running slowly but I ended up with a pretty good time (pace 7.17 minutes/km).
I'm dealing with a minor catastrophe where my running is concerned. When we flew up a week ago (that crazy trip where we ended up spending an extra night in Tromsø because of fog) I apparently forgot the charge cord for my Garmin GPS device. When I discovered it was missing, I had to figure out a couple of workarounds. I am now tracking my running with an app on my phone (Track Runner), but I can't transfer the data to Garmin Express without setting up a Facebook account, and I just don't do Facebook. :grumble: Instead, I log the runs manually. That way I'm still collecting all my kms in the same place.
The other issue is my steps. I've managed to meet my daily goal of 10,000 steps for 141 consecutive days (barring a couple of travel/rest days when I've set my goal to 5000 steps). I'd hate to break a streak like that. Track Runner doesn't log steps, but my Garmin device still does - as long as it has charge left on its battery. I've stopped using its GPS function, because that eats charge. Once a day, I connect to it via Bluetooth and download my step data. My streak remains intact.
My husband is going back to the mainland tomorrow for work and will return Tuesday afternoon, hopefully having located the charge cord. It's been six days since I charged my device and I appear to have used a bit more than half the charge. Will it last five more days? Maybe, maybe, maybe...
15. Season - I love spring in southern Scandinavia, when all the early wildflowers blossom. But up here in Svalbard I have to opt for the "blue light season", those weeks in January-February when the sun creeps closer to the horizon but won't actually rise for some time yet. Then the world is all marvellous pastel blues and (later) pinks for a few hours in the middle of the day.

Love this quote from Barbie:
When I started on MFP, someone told me that what I ate between Thanksgiving and New Year's was not nearly as important as what I ate from New Year's to Thanksgiving. The holiday season has its bumps in the road and no one can navigate them perfectly but if you have a good plan for the rest of the year, the holiday season cannot keep you from getting where you want to go.
That sums it up pretty well doesn't it? I will often say when I'm enjoying something delicious over the holiday season "I'm counting blessings, not calories" doesn't mean I'm going overboard in a really destructive way and I get right back on track with CICO once the event is over.
Favorite season, Autumn! I love the change in the air and the colors of course, but also, I love the sense of new year I feel as a teacher, from a relaxed laid back summer to a more focused productive time when we spend more time inside than out.
Today, Autumn goes away and we have icy snowy precip headed our way at rush hour, I may have to cancel my afterwork dental appt. Fortunately mamo/ultrasound went off without a hitch. Need a second cup of coffee to get going this morning!

Good Thursday morning. Due to MFP mess up,have been unable to comment for 2-3 wks.Have had family for short visits, due to Son in laws health situation. Have only skimmed for Nov,so not going to try & catch up.Loving the gratitudes....gonna wait for Dec to add mine.Need to think them thru.
We celebrate Thanksgiving with son in laws family & that is still on.If SIL is unable to be there,DH will stay with him.Family from the Carolinas & Sis from Minn will fill my house starting Tues.Local family .....including ourselves...spelling DD & just doing what we can to help.DD has a full plate.A sad situation after 25 yrs of marriage.Thank the Lord for his family & ours making them our first priority. We are so blessed.
Sorry to be a downer, but right now it’s our reality.
Food is not a big interest. Still tracking as usual, getting lots of “not eating enough signs” but don’t think I have lost much,if anything. The blubber likes me

Gorgeous colors, Pat. Sorry about your family's health challenges.
The problem with the spoiler was that you had deleted the start-spoiler code and put the photos after the end-spoiler code. It looks like this:

Pat in Oh - the trees are so beautiful, and I'm so sorry about your son-in-law's health.
Michele - Walmart is now selling a Keurig clone for only $19.99, it's the one I used for traveling until I got sick of them stopping me at every TSA checkpoint to see what the heck it was in my suitcase. Left it in El Paso after that. You can stick a couple teabags in one of the little refillable pods, and it makes a good cup of tea.
Penny - fingers crossed your Garmin limps through until your hubby gets back with the charge cord. I do hate to ruin a good streak.
Down to my lightest weight since I began this on January 24, at 175.6. Lost the weight I gained traveling, and then a couple more. When I can stay at home and in a routine, it's so much easier to lose. Down more than 42 pounds now, which makes me happy. Would really like to peel off another five before the knee replacement. Oh! and got a message on that yesterday, that they're putting me on Community Care for that, which means a civilian doctor's office will be giving me a call, hopefully in Fort Smith, only a half hour away. Makes me happy. The VA's reputation is not good, unfortunately. Lots more paperwork, but well worth it, and the VA will still pay for it.
So, yesterday, my prospective boss called me and asked me come up to Fayetteville to a professional fundraisers' awards lunch, where they had purchased a table. Got to meet the woman who is her boss and the Chief Strategic Officer, as well as one of her peers, the Director of Annual Giving, who Rori knows, as well. It was well worth the hour up and back, good contacts to make, no matter how all this turns out. Turned into kind of a two-day interview... and had a lot in common with the CSO, so that went well. Writing my "bread-and-butter" thank-you-for-the-interview e-mail this morning. My prospective boss, who is my original interviewer, is trying to arrange for me to get on the CEO's calendar next week in Little Rock, while I'm on vacation.
Speaking of which, I'm off for the next ten days after today! Had to take some time to move, and the days before Thanksgiving, or would have lost vacation at end of year. Looking forward to that... especially if there's a job interview in the middle.
It's been a good week so far. Best I've had in a while.
Love y'all!

Good morning all! Happy Thursday! Last night was my last late work (11:30pm) night for this week. So...it took great effort to get out of bed this morning, but the shower helped and I am now happily holding my coffee (wishing I could soak in it) and slowly waking up. My first kiddo is here and just wants to rest this morning (thanking God for small miracles!). Today the kids and I are having a Teddy Bear Picnic and our play and activities will center around our bear friends. We will have biscuits, honey, fruits, nuts, and veggies for lunch and then the kids get picked up for the day due to my midday doctors's appointment. Short day!
It was no fluke the other day that Joaquin called me via viber! He did it again last night! lol It was about 8pm when my phone chimed and I answered and there he was, holding the phone up close to his face (so that the screen was filled with his eyes, nose, mouth and cheeks). I greeted him with my "Hi baby!" and he just grinned and said "Hi mama!" His hair was wet and he was shirtless (just out of the bath). Then, phone in hand, he trotted out to the living room (the view from the phone was a very "Blair Witch Project" experience), grabbed his blankie and plunked himself down on the dog bed! He then stared into the phone as I talked to him. Smiling and babbling until Lauren found him there after a couple minutes! She was stunned and said she thought he was playing/talking to himself. THAT made my night! My baby knows how to call me!
Pat- Those are some gorgeous colors! I am in Michigan and there isn't a whole lot of color left. Most of our deciduous trees are naked now!
Pip- Is that a younger pic of Yogi? I love that pic of you and Kirby! Last night I covered your upper body and showed your legs to my hubby. He was confused until I told him you were a bit older that I am (I can't remember exactly- 60 something?). He said, "Wow! Is she a runner?" lol
Penny- I am glad you found a couple of workarounds for being cordless! I was thinking about it and you could open a facebook account just for your electronics. You don't have to friend anyone (or if there is someone you wanted to share stats with or be an accountability partner with, you could friend them). You could keep your settings private. Will your Garmin link with Strava? I have to agree about the snow/twilight time; it is magical!
Lisa- Wow! Sounds like your perspective boss is very impressed with you and she is fighting to get you on her team! That is a great thing! So happy that you have some well deserved vacation time starting!
Barbie- Love, LoVe, LOVE, that quote about what we eat between Thanksgiving and New Years not being as important as what we eat between New Years and Thanksgiving. I am going to tell myself that this year and remind others who I hear complain about all of the goodies that they are eating. I already have a plan in place for the holidays. Tim and I are not very social (as a couple) so the majority of our eating/treats are well within our control. I will be doing my usual treat activities with the daycare kids (gingerbread houses, decorating cookies, making snowman soup, etc) and I will have Trentin with me holiday weekends so I am sure he will want to do/make/eat something Christmas-y on those days, but I think if I control WHAT we make and send the stuff home with him; we will be okay. BUT...your quote will help me remember not to beat myself up for the occasional cookie. Home made gingersnaps are my favorite.
Well, I need one more cup of coffee and, most likely, by the time I get it fixed, the other kids will be here! Love to all you wonderful women! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)6 -

I know I'm being a bit reactionary and Luddite about Facebook. I'm just afraid that if I got onto it, I would waste lots of time that could be spent on far better things. My supply of discipline is unpredictable. Right now, I need it to get myself out jogging on a dark, relatively windy day when the temperature is just 17 Farenheit.

BUT...your quote will help me remember not to beat myself up for the occasional cookie. Home made gingersnaps are my favorite.
Well, I need one more cup of coffee and, most likely, by the time I get it fixed, the other kids will be here! Love to all you wonderful women! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)
I am 59 right now , I’ll b 60 in May. I was just going to add someone had complimented my legs on an earlier post, was that u? Thanks, u r sweet. The legs came from riding first then running helped them out more. I would think that is my proudest asset, specifically my calves.

Speaking of 60, we r going to Alaska for that. We have never been., he had a lady arrange it for him. Gonna b on a cruise 🚢 line 😀6
