@dkabambe welcome back. If the reason you left a few years ago was due to the volume of posts in this thread, well uh, I'm afraid to tell you, they are probably 2x that now
But we still are all supportive and willing to help. Good luck with your training (and keeping up with the posts)4 -
Thanks @Scott6255 - I had noticed there were a lot more threads. I have to be honest and admit whilst the volume of threads did get on top of me, getting into a new relationship and thus losing my "free" time was the underlying reason.
NB: That relationship still going strong, but I've recently ditched facebook and other soul-sucking social media sites so can spend time places like here which actually have positive effect!12 -
Count me in as well, working on c25k challenge at the moment 👍😀8

I deleted Facebook about 3 years ago. BEST DECISION EVER!4 -
@shanaber - that's great your trainer has you mixing up your lifting while off running. I cannot believe how addicted I am to lifting at the moment. And running. And cycling. And eating.
Awesome temps in FL this morning. We are supposed to have a nice week.
I'm off school next week! Tomorrow I take students to a programming competition all day so I'm going to have to take a rest day. It's too far away to run before hand and afterwards I'm busy. Oh well, since I'm off all next week I'll make it up.

@katharmonic welcome to snowy Boston! I'm working from home right now but am about to head into the city for a meeting.
If you fancy a run tomorrow, the parkrun crew at Jamaica Pond are very friendly (it's a weekly 5k with a 9:00am start, followed by coffee and chat at a local coffee shop). I won't be there because I've got a race tomorrow morning. Gonna be a cold one.5 -
First of all -- I am so glad I found this thread. I feel such accountability here. Secondly, I must confess a non scheduled rest day yesterday and a scheduled no run tonight.
Tomorrow is the EARLY BIRD TURKEY TROT 5K. It will be a balmy 35 degrees, not looking forward to this... I'm from the South, we don't handle cold well My running partner has developed strep throat, so looks like I will be solo. Not a huge deal, but I do enjoy the commute with her -we actually run apart.
After tomorrow, I have nothing "OFFICIAL" scheduled until 12/01. Is it just me or does anyone else feel more active when you run stuff you have to pay for... Maybe it is the satisfaction of crossing the finish line.
Hmmm... wonder if my neighbors would mind if I put one of those blow up arches on our street?
EVERYONE HAVE AN AWESOME DAY!!!

Just another scheduled rest day; so I don't get to run in the snow.7 -
About 1 more week before I can assess to see if my foot is healing or if I need to go in for a bone scan since x-rays looked fine.
Anyway, I need retail therapy. What trail shoes are you in? I'm looking for something with a higher drop than my current shoes.5 -

I've been taking a break since Wednesday that will hopefully only last until Monday to try to give my knee and hamstring a break so it can actually heal... Because unfortunately, no matter how much I want it to, running through an injury doesn't make it heal stronger. I probably won't attempt another 6 miles, let alone 10 miles this month, but next month I can focus on slowly increasing mileage the way I should have this month...
Happy running, friends! And happy racing to all of you who plan to! Take care of yourselves!8 -

Welcome back @dkabambe! As @Scott6255 mentioned we are still a very busy, chatty group. I do think we are now maybe more international with some folks in Europe, Asia and Australia.
Congratulations on finishing the London Marathon!!
Welcome to the group @kevsangb - we have several who are following C25K too.
@ddmom0811 - yah I couldn't give up lifting, I just love feeling strong and being able to do things people don't expect me to be able to do We even worked it in when I broke my arm as well as when I had the surgery on my hand. Those times it was all lower body focused and this time more core and upper body!
@Beka3695 - I love having a race to work toward and the feeling of accomplishment afterwards!
@sarahthes - I am right there with you on the retail therapy! I spent a couple of hours yesterday reading up on different shoes to replace my Topo's but have not found any yet. I really want to keep in the 0 drop realm but other than Altra's which I have a love hate relationship with, most of the traditional running shoes the doctor would like me to use, seem to have 10-12 drop.
@youngcaseyr - you might look into doing some exercises while you are resting, to strengthen your hips and glutes. It made a huge difference for me at least in getting rid of a nagging hamstring issue.

@mbaker566 - your bearded is beautiful! I also love how Hermie is smiling! Looks like such a happy pup! Can I ask how he ended up being fostered?1

I never posted my update yesterday. I ran home from work again and then I just got too busy. I enjoy running from work to home, it is kind of fun to run from one place to another instead of always doing a loop or an out and back. The run felt kind of tough though. I don't know if it was because it was 20 degrees warmer or because I ate a bigger lunch than usual. Probably a little of both. Our church had the annual Turkey Dinner fundraiser at church yesterday so even though it had been 3 hours since lunch I think I had more food in my stomach than I am used to having when I run. I hope to run on Thanksgiving day, but if I can't do it in the morning I will probably wait until Friday rather than run on a full stomach. Today and tomorrow will be rest days. I usually take Friday and Saturday as rest days and then have my long run on Sunday. It looks like the weather will be cold again on Sunday, but I think I will stick to my schedule. I have a lot of stuff to do around the house to get ready for the holiday. My daughter won't be coming this year since she is going to her boyfriend's parents, but my son and his girlfriend are coming and Thursday will be my son's birthday too.
@HonuNui That turtle is awesome! I always love your snorkeling pictures.
2018 races:
5/19/18: Run for 57th AHC Half Marathon - 2:43:59.7. - 2nd place AG
10/6/18: Old Rip 5K Run - PR 29:43.5, 2nd place AG
11/10/18: Wags & Whiskers 5K - 30.05 official time - 1st place female/3rd overall5 -
@mbaker566 I love your dragon!1

@shanaber I probably need an 8-10mm drop. Current trail shoes are 4mm and there's a decent chance that contributed to my foot problems since my primary road shoe is a 10mm drop.0
