26F/-3C is quite cold, and I don't like running in the dark (reminder to self: replace batteries in dim headlamp). Luckily for me, my girl is an excellent pacer: nice speed normally, slowing for slick spots/intersections/dips in the road. If only for the dashes after a random squirrel, she'd be perfect!
I set my app for two 14-minute intervals, with 5 minute warmup/cooldowns. Out and back, but when the second interval was done, we weren't yet to the starting point... so we kept going until we were. A nice 28-ish minutes of running for a total of 2.75 miles.
November total: 16.53/28

Oh no! What exactly did you do? Oh just 13 miles. Of course.
Well you see, I walked into the gym, had brought my heat gear and was like "Sure, I'll just hop on the dreadmill for an hour instead of putting that other shirt back on and run outside... in the park... by the river...and well sorta accidentally put outdoor gear... and flashy lights... and headlamp... and accidentally went outside and sort fell into running by mistake.
It happens to all of us, right?
This morning I was already looking at 'return to running' plans. Only 5 weeks to go - ha!12 -

I ran 3.5 miles at lunch. It was a pretty nice run. I was trying for a fast finish and I got it. I was a little slower during mile 2, but then I remembered that was when I had to stop and get a sticker out of my shoe and I forgot to pause my watch, so I felt a little better about it. My son just texted and said he and his girlfriend are on their way here so in a couple of hours the holiday will officially start. I am so looking forward to it. I'm a little sad that my daughter can't come too, but I am still looking forward to it. I'm hoping to be able to get in my runs tomorrow and Thursday, but I will try not to stress if I don't.
@midwesterner Congrats on your short ultra! That's a nice looking coin!
@Beka3695 The ticker takes a bit to update on your end, but what we see looks correct.

And, like a crash landing, back in the land of Palm trees! Heat (76), humidity (100%), high dew point (67%), Red Tide....made for hard breathing. Just hoping that all that hill running will help me do better on the Turkey Trot on Thursday morning. But I'm not stopping my running.

The weather here has decided to return to winter - cold and wet. Did not want to go for a run this morning, but as I haven't since Saturday and was grumpy because I missed yesterday, I headed out anyway. Delighted to find that even though my head wasn't keen, the legs and the lungs were more than willing and belted out a fast 5k with negative splits at each kilometre. Brain protested the whole way *rolls eyes and ignores brain*.

Just got an email saying my 5 mile race on thanksgiving has been canceled and that we will be running a 5k instead because it’s going to be really cold here on thanksgiving day. I’m so mad because I’ve trained for the last couple of months to build up to a 10K distance for nothing! Ugh!7

No training ever goes to waste. Think of it as early training for your next 5 mile race and, if you wish, try to set a new personal record for the 5k.10 -
@polskagirl01 - maybe if we all complained to MFP Help they would get rid of 'woo' and give us a real smiley button and maybe an 'ugg' button for things we don't like!
@amirahdaboss - just think how well trained you are and you can nail that 5k! I am sure it is disappointing but the training and increased endurance doesn't go to waste. You can continue at that level or use it to build more!7 -

A treadmill run in two (or 3) parts today. I did 10 minutes warm-up before my strength training - had intended to do more but got a late start. I should have finished it right after but needed to get home to get the dog ready for her vet visit (she needs to be pre-medicated because she's terrified). Then I planned to run outside later in the afternoon, but forgot the extra bag I had put all my outdoor gear in. So, back to the gym. My treadmill decided to enact the emergency stop on me (without me touching it at all, and there was no cord on it so it couldn't have gotten pulled). That was quite a sudden jolt. I figured I must have done something so started again, only to have it happen again a couple of minutes later. Fool me twice, and all that - I abandoned and moved to another treadmill where I was in less danger of a face plant at any moment. I suggested at the desk they may want to put a sign on that and was told someone else had reported it an hour earlier. Well thanks for the warning!
Strength training featured a club and a mace today - feeling like I'm training for some medieval fight club. Some extra motivation involved in trying not to club yourself in the head while swinging these around.

This is so annoying, I was just saying to my husband that I had everything I needed for Thanksgiving and now I have every part of a salad except the actual SALAD! Grr and the grocery store was like a zoo, I'm not looking forward to another trip. Not going to fight the crowds to return it so that's money in the trash, too.
I read a detailed news article and they are saying they don't even know for sure it's romaine doing it, just that some "leafy green" is the culprit and probably romaine, and since it's such a serious illness they are trying to nip cases in the bud by this blanket statement. So even if I go back to the store and get non-romaine lettuce it could still be bad!
Edit: not to mention my husband and I both ate romaine today at a restaurant.1 -
@Scott6255 Thanks man!
@amirahdaboss As @Tramboman and @shanaber pointed out, that training's not for nothing. You're now much further along the way to running that 10K.
Today was an easy-paced recovery run, but I'm still making sure to keep things in the single digits for a serious cutback week; I have to say that I'm rather enjoying the lay-ins that I'm getting this week (if 4am can be considered a lie-in). Tomorrow I'm going to run fartleks...normally I'd be doing intervals, but I don't have any decent route planned out so I'm just going to wing it with fartleks instead.
My next pair of Epic Reacts should be turning up on my doorstep tonight, but tomorrow's package is the one that I'm more excited about...the Vaporflys!

Ran a nice fast (for me) 5k this morning, trying to get used to running faster, shorter distances. I thought training longer distances was supposed to make you faster, but for me it had the opposite effect - I got used to my "cruising speed" being half marathon pace, and my 5k was much slower when I went back to it. A couple of weeks of speedwork and today was quite a bit better, not a pr but not bad, considering the hilly route.
I wanted to wish everyone well who's injured but I've lost track, there are so many injuries in the group right now! @MobyCarp Sorry to hear about your race but good job catching it early.1 -

I don't remember if I mentioned my sports doc told me I was an easier patient than another guy he called a "pathological runner," who couldn't stop running even to heal from an injury. Didn't know @PastorVincent came all the way to Rochester, NY for sports medicine.

No run today. Was woken rudely st 430am by a thunderstorm right overhead that shook the house and woke the kids. Because we were getting up in an hr anyway to head down the country for a holiday we decided to leave early since we were all awake. As @ContraryMaryMary said, the weather has turned awful, back to winter weather. It's freezing! Though to be fair not as bad as most of you, no snow at least but it's supposed to be almost summer, not verging on winter!
So have finally arrived at in laws, its 330pm, absolutely pouring with rain and I'm exhausted having driven 5hrs, then had an hr flight.
Tomorrow will be a good run. Probably about 8k, and I'll do 10 on Friday, all going to plan.2 -
So I have to try to figure out how this works. I'm mostly a walker but enjoy 5 and 10K's. Mostly for after race party. So, do we post our activity on these threads? BTW, been on MFP since 2011.6

SO, company canceled, so I decided I should get a run in, but this time I ran on the dreadmill, in the privacy of my bedroom so I ran without a shirt. The welts on my back itched as I ran (from salty sweat probably) but fine other than that. Only managed an hour before I had to get off but it was an hour at 6.5mph and a steady 3.5% grade so much better than nothing.6

Hey, you know, with the way insurance is here in USA - just have to go where ever the referral says.

Ditched c210k, because I dreaded running. Have started a nike+ running program tonight, and I generally like those. So just 1km today.
@rheddmobile I would suggest making a salad without a leafy base if you want a salad then. A broccoli salad, or a carrot salad, or a not vegetable based salad (like panzanella/bread salad). Hopefully you don't get sick from lunch.

This challenge is pretty self-directed. Mainly you decide what your goal is (Run 5mins twice week, run 50 miles total, etc) and then track your progress in this thread. Also join in the general joking around, rabbit trails and pictures of cute puppies.1 -

wow, you people run a lot! Since you accept walking and treadmill, silly question: does biking count?
I only run once a week, on good weeks (plan to run tonight). My goal would be really low.
On the other hand, I bike to work, about 18 miles a day, 3-4 times a week. Would find it cool to quantify that. Particularly since winter might prevent me for sticking with it.
So... am I in? Or do I have to find myself a biking thread? The intro was just way too welcoming and nice...5
