I see some great ideas posted here. Great job with meal planning, planning for parties, and limiting oneself to a single piece of chocolate. Give yourself a pat on the back!
Helping with newborns and chasing a toddler mean my arms are never empty and no time to reach for food.

@prisoner2food Chasing toddlers also gives you some built in exercise. I’m sure your daughter appreciates all your help.

@trooworld Your recipes look good as usual. I hope you get relief from your headaches

I did well at dinner by not going back for seconds. I really wanted to. I’m struggling getting back into exercise habit. I did good for a week and then I got sick so starting up again is hard. I’m fine once I get going.

@theslightedgeforever no on the exercise, but my DD and GD took my GGD for a walk yesterday around the neighborhood and I got in my 10K yesterday...one day at a time. Today we go for the 4 month check up...she rolled over yesterday for the first time..LOL

@trooworld Sorry that Noom isn't working for you...what are the oils you are using? I had to use clove on a family members toothache..it took agony before they would do it...it works, but with oils you have to keep using them...they wear off soon than the man made chemicals..

@prisoner2food the twins are so precious. Great job on pushing forward. Remember to take care of you too! I speak from experience..LOL

@TrishasTime yes water seems to be the key..I love that you use oils too!!

@trooworld Yes 100% better now. If you stick with Noom is there no way to start where you are instead of trying to catch up. Just read an article a day. Read a little bit while sitting on the toilet. Lol. You don’t have to finish the article all at once

@cbabie That’s great on the 10k steps. Wow 4 months already. I always liked the age 4-6 months.

I did a 30 min walk. That’s progress. Met with some friends and stayed within my food boundaries.

Dang. Drank too much rye and put me over my calories for the day.
Home for a couple days to babysit sons dogs while he is out of town. Going to other grandkids school on wed for grandparents day. Hope to finish Christmas shopping and house cleaning tomorrow so hopefully a bit of exercise. I have looked at Noon but always talk myself out of it as I have spent sooooo much $$$$ over the years in weight loss and don’t want to spend any more
    Keep moving forward

    Hello Ladies!

@theslightedgeforever, you are so right that I NEED to remember what I wrote and pull it out when the need to eat all the things hits me again. I learned years ago not to drink alcohol to excess because I didn't like the results. I don't drink caffeine in after 2 pm because I like to sleep. I just need to get it in my thick skull when it comes to overeating junk that it's NOT worth it! :/ I did an MFP search on coconut oil and they seem to think that the claims for weight loss are bogus. I did try to put some in my coffee and it was soooo gross!! :D

@trooworld, I think you are right to cut your losses with Noom. If it isn't working for you have to find something else that will work. Just sucks that you had to lose money but haven't we all wasted money over the years trying to find what works for us. :# MFP will work! Go over to the success page and see how well it works for so many. I find that very motivating. :)

Well, I was in shock this morning that I lost .06 lbs for the week. :o Just goes to show that you can blow your diet but if you get right back on you can reverse the damage. I think part of my issues for years and years is that one binge would so often turn into a week, month, and even longer before I would begin again. This time I was right back on Saturday. That feels pretty good!!

I went Christmas shopping this morning for my husband and a few friends and then went and did grocery shopping. I got done and noticed that my throat was slightly hurting. I really hope I'm NOT getting sick!!! I don't have time for that. :s

@theslightedgeforever Good job on staying in your food boundaries...didn't like the 4 month shot day...ugh..

@trooworld You got this..no matter what program you follow it really is about what we put in our mouth and how much of it we put in...I am beginning to see it's like a budget...you can spend your whole paycheck and wonder where it went or you can track every penny and have something to show for your hard work..

@prisoner2food I used to always love grandparents day...hope you had fun

@TeresaW1020 congrats on the weight loss. Glad you got your shopping going...me not so much. Not really interested this year...so different for me.

@prisoner2food I hear you on spending money on trying to lose weight. Now I only spend it on here with the premium costs. So back to counting those calories today. I went over 100 calories yesterday. A bunch of us went to visit a neighbor who had been in the hospital and we all brought something. I didn’t leave enough calories open in my budget. So back at it today. I chose well though with what I had available.

@trooworld All we can do is learn from this experiments we are doing with our journey. It’s fun to have leftover calories.

@TeresaW1020 Yaaay on your weight loss. Yes you can go off the rails but getting back on at the next meal is the key.

@cbabie. Keeping with the budget idea, if you just spend all your money on beer and cigarettes and don’t leave any for the house payment soon the bank will be coming to collect. With our bodies the bank is in the form of cancer, diabetes, heart problems

Guess staying on track pays off. I am down 13 pounds since I started back here. Yes I too fall off the wagon but ,as Theresa says. It no longer turns into a month long binge. I come to MFP to read that others are doing this and you all inspire me!
    Keep on

@TrishasTime oh you’ll have a nice long vacation. Lots of time to take care of yourself.

I got in a 30 min walk but went over calories. I had to pick up dd from the airport late and ate with her 😖

    Morning all!

@trooworld I eat the same things all the time and yes sometimes I need a change, But for me it has to be a breakfast food and if I eat carby foods..I pay the rest of the day.. so I try to stick to my protein shake or eggs..LOL

@theslightedgeforever Good job on the walk today. I heard you in my head...walk circles in your bedroom if you have to. Yes I know all too well our family tree...but I decided to cut that tree down...and grow another one LOL

@prisoner2food great job on saying no to chocolate..hard time of the year to say no...LOL

@TrishasTime Glad you are still here, take your time off and enjoy all the things we never seem to get to while we work. you deserve some down time.

    Hi Everyone!

@trooworld, I eat the same breakfast every morning except Tuesdays and can't imagine ever wanting to quit. Scrambled eggs wrapped in an Ole tortilla that has a pepper jack Laughing Cow cheese on it. I'm glad I don't need variety other than dinner. I eat the same lunch every day too! :D Have you looked on Pinterest for ideas?

@prisoner2food, way to go on your weight loss!! It really does help to read what others do and to keep yourself motivated. And if we do slip up we just gotta get right back on track. :)

Well, it's been a tough couple of days. I have come down with some kind of sickness that is mostly a sore throat, slight cough and making me VERY tired!! I went to work yesterday but not to church last night. We were doing Christmas stuff with the kids and I just couldn't deal. Plus, I didn't want to infect anyone. All I really want to do is veg on the sofa and watch Top Chef. :|

    Good morning everyone

@trooworld - You can have anything for breakfast - it does not need to be "a typical breakfast food". For example - you could take cooked chicken breast, you can take a protein shake sachet and just add water when work. You could take a mini size of what you had the night before, muffins premade or one that you make in a coffee cup. You just need to think of the food you like. One guy at works brings in an American Breaky "this is what he calls it and he is from US", it contains previously cooked, so he zaps it in the microwave when he gets to work, he also works an hour away, but travels on the train.

@theslightedgeforever - I am with you - I am good for 3 weeks and then something small sets me off to the Badlands. I know what I need - make that must do to be healthy as I get older -knowing and doing are just no aligned.

@cbabie - thankyou. I planned to get to a Christmas menu together as I have lunch here both on Christmas and Boxing day and then go back to work on 27th December. It is so unusual for me not to have everything done a couple of months ago. Well at least the menu and presents sorted. It shows my how muddled my mind is.

TeresaW2010 - It is a shame you fell unwell heading into Christmas. DH had the same as you and it took 6 weeks to kick it. I'm am glad you are looking after yourself. We just got Top Chef Series 16 here.

@prisoner2food - Congratulations on the big loss - well done. I am glad your family are giving you so much joy.

I went to the dog park last night and bent over to get a ball, I was so unstable on my feet it scares me. I do not want to be a senior that falls and re breaks her hip. I have a balance ball and my intention is to use it at night, start of with 2 min and build up.

    Hope everyone is well

Supposed to be sewing quilts for the twin babies but having much more fun cuddling them.
SIL brought out the ketchup chips but I limited myself to one cup and counted it in my total for the day

@trooworld - We call them smoothies here ( Frozen fruit, fresh veges and ice). Okay - do you have a freezer at work you can use? If so at lunch time, go and buy some packet of frozen fruit. Buy a cheap blitzer and store that at work in your cupboards and make one when you get to work (other people at my work do that) . Or like me, you can do what I do and make one in the morning I compact ice into so, it takes a while to be drinkable - about an hour and before you go to work or if I am in back o back meetings, I limit the ice and drink it on the way to work.

@prisoner2food - well done with your eating plan - one meal at a time (yes for me it is the wrong meal)

@theslightedgeforever - Enjoy your guests, but look after yourself

Here it is 16/12 and I am yet to organise a menu for christmas day - let alone go shopping for it. Kinds states my mindset at the moment

    Take care everyone

    Good morning ladies!

@theslightedgeforever, how are you doing today? Having a change in our normal routines can be so hard on our plans. I suggest you do the best you can and enjoy your houseguest. :)

@prisoner2food, you are doing great! Celery to snack on and quilting to keep you busy. :)

@TrishasTime, Top Chef is my current obsession!! I started in season one and I'm now in the middle of season three. I love seeing so many chefs I know looking so young. The show sure does like it's drama! :D I think that is a good idea that you start working on improving your balance. My husband has Osteopenia and vertigo. He stresses me out and I'm always telling him that he better be careful.

@trooworld, Yikes did you go shopping? My husband went out yesterday to do some "secret" shopping and said it was a madhouse. I told him he was crazy to go out but who am I to stop his desire to shower me with presents! ;) I know that this time of year is so hard for us all to stick to our plan. Like I told theslightedgeforever, you just gotta do the best you can. Beating yourself up doesn't help. <3

Well, I'm feeling a little better today. I HATE being sick!! I sound like an old woman who has smoked cigars her whole life and I've also got a nagging cough. My plan for church ths morning is to talk as little as possible (NO singing) and to suck on cough drops and drink water so I don't annoy everyone around me. :#

I've been thinking about 2019 and how I so want to reach my goal weight this coming year. There is no reason I can't. I read this yesterday and it really spoke to me..."Do you have a vision of a fitter body and why you want it? If you see the reward, you will do the work!" I do have a vision of how I want to feel and look. You all do too!! Let's go into 2019 ready to make our visions a reality. :)

    Morning everyone

@TeresaW1020 - I love that saying and it has me thinking. I am sorry you feeling so horrible. I hope it clears up for you soon.

@trooworld - I m sure you will work it out. Have you thought what you are going to do, now that you have decided to terminate Noom?

The past few day have had me thinking. What is it with this merry go round that I am on? I know and I know that you all know what needs to be done and how. If I had my food prepared by someone else and just given to me, I would eat it. However when I need to make food, and I am tired - I go for anything that will make me feel better. I promise myself things if I get to XX. I spend money starting off with good intentions and motivations, but that does fade away when life simply gets in the way. Something clicks and I feel great, positive and motivated (there is no date or event - I simply wake up that way). Then doing between 10 - 12 hours a day simply takes anything I have out of me. I start to question is WW or is Myfitnesspal the best for me, perhaps I will do better on the other. I swapped from myfitnesspal to WW and have done no better there either.

Maybe it is not the process but it is me that I need to look at. I say I will not work long hours and as soon as there is an issue at work, I continue to work as I do not want to let the customers down. Maybe I will always be on this cycle until retire. Maybe I am sick of my excuses. I need to think a lot more

    Thanks for listening

    Trish

@prisoner2food Good idea about the water. It’s all the cooking and baking I’ve been doing the past three days. I’ve never liked the taste of celery raw. I’ll eat it cooked in food though.

@trooworld I just discovered a good recipe for a chocolate protein shake. It’s supposed to have half a frozen banana in it but mine are always fresh so I just stick 4 ice cubes in there and it turns out good. You could drink it driving to work. Today is a new day to start over and eat within your calories. Shop online and then you don’t have to face the crowds or do like my friend and buy everything early for next year. She’s done by July. Then there’s me who says I still have time. It’s not Christmas yet. Sounds like your office mate needs a $25 gift certificate from Amazon and she can pick out her own gift. Lol.

@TrishasTime You’re still hoping a magic elf will come and plan the menu for you. It would be nice to have him cook it too. Lol. Oh then clean up. My friend that I’m doing Shred with has lost 12 lbs in the same time that I have lost 5. She’s bigger than me but not twice my size. She likes the plan because she says not a lot of cooking and preparation. I also have to cook for my family so real food tempts me more. I’ve been on the merry go round for years The best plan isn’t WW or MFP it’s Trisha’s plan. What is that? Counting is counting whether you do points or calories. Just like money spends the same either dollars or pounds. So for my plan I like structure but has to be flexible because I’m a social butterfly. That part of my life won’t change. So I am trying to follow this menu plan when I’m home and it’s a normal day and if I have an event I try and stay within my calorie boundaries for the day. The best of both worlds. Now if I can get the habit of exercise to be consistent I’ll get to goal because I’ve proven I can lose weight this weight. There’s no deprivation so I’m making it a lifestyle. I’m learning to find smoothies I like. When I’m tired of the smoothies I use same ingredients and turn it into a parfait. Your work schedule sounds like my events so you have to make your food work within those boundaries. It’s not going away any time soon. Right? So you need quick easy to grab meals that you like. What are those. Which meal is the hardest for you. That’s the one you start working on first. The one that will make the biggest difference.

@TeresaW1020 I’m enjoying myself right now cause houseguest is gone 😈 Earlier we took my sil back to the airport. She wanted to come see the kids while they were here. I’m glad you are feeling better now. 2019 goals. Dd and I have a private joke with Jan 1 I say this our year I can feel it. She replies you say that every year Mom. 🙄. In lots of ways I’ve changed my habits I should be a bit further down the road I think but I would like to get within 15 lbs of goal in 2019. I think that’s a doable number. I just need to nail down my biggest habit which is exercise

Thanks for your thoughts and bearing with me. As I look back into the past, it seems EVERY Christmas, I am trying to modify my eating plan one way or another - I just keep going on. Either I stop tormenting myself or I just own I. My WW leader has her own FB site and urged us to pick a work for 2019. She said she used own-it last year and I think I will borrow that one, because as @theslightedgeforever says, it has to be something that works for me (forever). So my word for 2019 is own-it.

@theslightedgeforever - It kinda snowballs - If I have a late day - then the meal that nigh, which follows the brekky the next day and then lunch. I am craving fatty foods and it does no matter if lunch is already made up and waiting. My mind rejects it. Hope you had a good time with SIL.

@trooworld - I have a colleague at work who eats breakfast at 8am and is starving at 11am for his lunch. We can set our clock by him. I do hope your headache goes away soon.

@prisoner2food - I battled with my 25 year old overlocker yesterday. It seems I take it for a service, use it once and then bring it out again - and it needs to be reset again. I am over it and I am determined to get a new one on the NY. Every time I get both of them services, it costs $250, so it is more economical and less frustrating for me to get new ones

My sad news today is that my pregnant DIL is no longer pregnant, she lost the baby at 12 weeks. To say my son and her are devastated is an understatement. The hardest part was telling their 4 yr old daughter.

Let 2019 be a good year for all of us

@prisoner2food I’m reading a book called Atomic Habits that talk about we haven’t changed because our identity (how we see ourselves) hasn’t changed. Example three guys sitting outside a workplace on a break. One guy offers each a cigarette. One says I’m trying to quit. The other says I’m not a smoker. The first guy still believes he’s a smoker trying to be something else. He’s hoping his behavior will change while carrying around the same beliefs. The second guy smoking was a part of their former life not the current one. I think food is tricky. We need food to survive just not the amount of food we eat to keep us fat. So maybe adding I’m not a glutton to our beliefs would help. I just started this book today. So still trying to figure it all out.

@trooworld Tell yourself I thought it was going to be a bad week by the way it started but I’m turning this ship around. We are what we think.

@TrishasTime my word for this year was consistency. For 2019 I might need to go to a thesaurus and look up another word that means the same thing as 2018 word 😏. So sorry to hear the news about your son and dil. I lost my first one via ectopic pregnancy at 11 weeks. Surely a devastating time.

    Good afternoon ladies!

@TrishasTime, I am so very sorry for the loss of the baby that your family is now grieving for. There are no words that can comfort enough. ((hugs)) <3

@trooworld, I am so sorry that you are suffering so much with these migraines! I sure hope you find relief soon! <3

@theslightedgeforever, that book sounds interesting. I was a smoker for 23 years and quit over 14 years ago. I now call myself a non-smoker because that is a time in my life that I can't even relate to anymore. That is what we need with our weight. We need to have control over what we eat that we don't think of ourselves at fat anymore because that is not something we can relate to. We could just be normal. What a concept! :D

Well, weigh-in today had me gaining the .06 that I lost last week. Ugghhh!! I blame sickness and the church dessert reception on Sunday. Plus, I've had hardly any activity and I haven't been that careful with what I've been eating. I keep thinking about the first of the year and how I'm going to really make it work this time. 2019 will be my year! The thing is that I say that every year. :/

Another quote I read this morning, "If you want to go where you've never been before, you have to start where you've never started before." Something to think on, huh? :)

    Morning everyone

    Thanks everyone for your thoughts.

@TeresaW2010 - Where are you getting these great quotes from? They are certainly food for thought. Why wait until 01.01 - as @theslightedgeforever would say ( see she is my head) - why not the very next meal. I have started a fresh today - I really do not want to put on any more weight and I feel if I do not draw a line today, it will be worse if I started on 01/01.

@theslightedgeforever - Can you please send the owls out to Cbabie? Consistent - yes I have been consistently good then consistently bad - I just need to be on way where there are no the massive roller coasters and just little bumps.

@prisoner2food -How is going back to work and maintaining your good habits going?

Question - has anyone done a vision board - where you put pictures of where you are going to be? if so has it worked for you or not

    Take care
