12/24--215.1 Whoosh! Hopefully it will hold. I'm a federal government who is furloughed, so the unexpected time off right now is pretty sweet. I just need to make sure that I don't derail my eating while I'm off work, I find that I snack a lot when I'm bored. So to give myself something to do I made a list of things that I need to do around the house that I have been putting off and I'm going to work on a couple of the tasks every day while I am off. Went to the gym today for weightlifting, this is not my usual weightlifting day but the gym is closed tomorrow. The sun is out today, which is shocking in the PNW for this time of the year, so assuming the weather holds up I will be taking the dog out for a walk this evening.
12/25--215.1 Weight still holding. Sinus pressure came back yesterday, I think it's from the 3 pieces of milk chocolate I had on Sunday. Going out for Christmas dinner.
12/26--215.6 I usually have a weight jump up to 2 days afterwards, so I won't be surprised if there is another gain tomorrow. Today is closet organizing day, so I'm going to organize all of the closets today. Some closets will definitely be easier than others. Yoga later tonight.
12/27--214.9 Very surprised to see this number, I was expecting a bump up. Already been to this gym this morning to do some weightlifting. Closets were done yesterday, so the main thing today is cleaning/organizing the laundry/storage room and taking down the Christmas tree. I may also sneak in an afternoon nap.
12/28--214.2 Weighed twice to make sure. I have to stay home to wait for a delivery today, so I will be doing a lot of little things around the house. No working out today, today is a rest day and it's going to be raining all day so no long walk with the dog either.

12/25 Ate before I thought about weighing
12/26 145 I was really afraid to step on the scales this morning, I thought for sure I gained at least 2 lbs. So happy that I didn't! The past 2 days have been filled with lots of goodies and I ate so much and did not track. I had a really fun Christmas with both sides of the family. Everyone kept calling me skinny and giving me compliments so that was nice. We hula-hooped as a game and that was fun! I didn't know I could do it but I did for like 35 seconds! Hehe. Hope you all had a good Christmas!! β€

12/28 145 whew I sure am happy I didn't gain. Need to stay away from the sweets. Making sure I am getting plenty of water, I am certain that's helping.

Usually we have company or go away but this year decided to do our visiting in spring and fall and stay put for winter - avoiding all the stress of driving in the snow in the mountains. Iβm enjoying the peacefulness of it but my mind is jumping ahead to 2019.Round 39 (1st for me) β SW 163, loss -.2Goal this round: 159ish. I was down here in Oct. and having so much trouble getting back there. Right now even Β½ lb. per round would seem great.

Iβm going to apply to go on a short course in April. That is 13-14 weeks away (about 9 rounds). So my more immediate goal is to lose 1 lb/round. The course is something Iβve wanted to do for a very long time β I donβt have to lose weight for it but it would be sweet if I did.

12/24 β 160.6 β Bought some borscht yesterday for a quick lunch, seemed way saltier than usual. Also made up some shrimp dip with light cream cheese (we used to always do it at Christmas but even with the light stuff is pretty high calorie) So not a great day yesterday although no LNS. Calories probably at maintenance.

12/26 β 161. 6 β Found a spiced beef roast deep in the freezer and decided to cook it for Christmas since dh is not a fan of turkey and weβve had ham several times lately. Put potatoes and veg. in with it for an easy meal and it was amazing. Made angel food cake with lots of whipped cream β only got the small cream so it will soon be gone and not tempting me. Canβt remember when there has been just the two of us for Christmas but it was nice. Buckets of snow today (we live in the snowbelt) so feel for our neighborsβ kids who headed out early this am. At least our roads are just wet so likely only the passes will be nasty.

12/28 β 161.4 β When I wrote βLetβs not stayβ I wasnβt thinking of going up. Then had three dessert indulgences yesterday and here we are. Back to the gym today so maybe I can wear it off. 12/24 - 183.3 - I enjoyed my GSβs 2nd birthday yesterday. I ate out of plan with too many carbs but was reasonable. It is not hard to find yourself over 20 net carbs! I have a Christmas Party with friends tonight. I don't hold out much hope for this round either, so many food events to come! . But I do persist. Everyday (no matter what is on the agenda) is another day to make a small change or a good choice even if the day holds an event. I can certainly choose wisely even if it's only one of the meals on the day of a gathering. One meal out of plan on an event day should NOT sink my ship. Extra movement on an event day goes a long way too. I persist....I persist....I persist.....
12/25 - 183.2 Christmas party with friends last night. Tonight is my main present opening & goodie even with me adult kids and grandkids.
12/26 - 184.1 . Main Christmas gathering with my adult kids & grandchildren yesterday evening. . Food, Food, Food last night. A touch of alcohol too. I swear I heard the scale scream at me today!
12/27 - 184.5 Went out of town yesterday. Did much better with my choices until I got home to the Christmas cookies! I have boxed up most of them and are delivering some tomorrow to my kids. Roads are too slick today. My cravings have been out of control. My stomach actually growling again like it used to. That is what happens when I go off plan & eat too many carbs-I truly spin out of control. This is why it has to be a lifestyle, not a short-term solution to a long-term problem. Iβve done this to myself and will have to pay my dues. I have been inspired by SO MANY OF YOU and I am ready for January, come Heck or High Water.

12/24 150.6 (-0.4 from yesterday, -0.4 from round start) Ah, giving myself a little tiny drop to start off. I won't be weighing about food for the next couple days, and I have a dinner out with friends on the 29th and on the 1st, and NYE is generally spent "grazing" snacky things. So I know going into this that this round is almost certainly ending in a gain, and I'm okay with that. A pound or two up won't derail my overall progress and I'm alright with there being some "food traditions" that we stick to.
12/25 150.4 (-0.2 from yesterday, -0.6 from round start) I'm sure it'll be up tomorrow. I'm thoroughly enjoying my stocking goodies, and just lounging around enjoying my gifts - and enjoying watching my people enjoy their gifts.
12/26 149.8 (-0.6 from yesterday, -1.2 from round start) I have no idea how there was a loss, lol, but I'll take it. Hope everyone had a happy holiday!
12/27 149.8 (-0.0 from yesterday, -1.2 from round start) My best guess is that eating out is mainly what trips me up the most. These past several days have been including treats, no weighing of food or logging anything, and I've somehow managed to go down. The round before I had a swing up.. but we also did a lot of eating out as our holiday prep had us busy-busy. Eating at home, I can at least dish up my own food or put leftover aside and not feel subconscious pressure to finish it all. Plus we don't have a fryer, so there's that. LOL Two meals out expected for this round - one on the 29th, one on the 1st. We'll see how things go.

I'm going to make a token effort to log stuff again today (it's harder when the kids are home). I need to start up the exercise again, but it's all gloomy and gross (though at least not windy like yesterday.. our neighbors actually had a tree blown down, roots and all). Maybe I'll just cart the laundry down the stairs in about 70 trips. LOL Cardio plus housework.

NSV - Yesterday, my very fit and thin SIL and I walked to a local Lululemon store. She loves the workout gear and we've been walking over there the day after Christmas for several years now. At 186 or so pounds, I never found anything there that I thought would fit or look decent on me, especially for the price. Well, I ended up finding and buying a pair of size 8 travel pants that were on sale. My SIL was so excited for me.
12/28 - 145.5 - Well I must have picked up some kind of virus while I was out last week. It seems to be centered around my chest and throat. I had to take off work today. It has not spoiled my appetite though, of course.

I can't work out with the fitness guide like I did at the gym today. It is demotivating. She is frustrated with her schedule and eating habits and under a lot of stress. She was a bit short on patience and it really wasn't fun. Live and learn. I can sit and talk and that will be ok. I just wanted to try something new that was supposed to be cardio, but really wasn't, while on vacation. I did cardio after. Anyways I have to keep going in spite of it. It is my health and wellbeing. New plan being firmed up as I speak. I have pre-logged, like I do most days. I change what I need to as I go. Ready, Set, Go!!!!!!!!!!!!9

12/27 β 147.6 π₯π₯π₯ I didn't log for the whole holiday (since the 22nd to be exact) and pretty much ate whatever I wanted. Exercise has consisted of walking alone. But I am also not worried, I am finally back and looking to at least loose whatever holiday weight I have gained and getting back into it for the new year. It shouldn't be too difficult to drop whatever weight I put on over the holidays but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised if I still ended with a 1 or 2 pound gain. I enjoyed myself and as long as this spiral didn't continue I will be happy. On a plus note though, I still look amazing!!! Was so shocked to see myself in certain clothing..I felt good and my hubby noticed also..so once again I am happy. Today I started logging again.
12/28 β145 Thank goodness! The downward trend has commenced!!! Lol. After eating whatever I wanted for a week, I am finding getting back into routine slightly harder food wise. I am staying away from sweets but the left over turkey, yams, mashed potatoes and stuffing keep calling my name. To make matters slightly worse, I haven't worked out in a week and I know I need to rebegin before I get used to not...which I don't want at all.,.on the other hand I did walk 19000+ steps yesterday so thankfully I am not completely inactive. @salleewins, sorry you had a tough time at the gym. Iβve had a membership for almost 4 years, Iβve tried a couple times to get a trainer but just couldnβt find one I felt comfortable with. Sometimes I just throw on some π§ and walk on the treadmill.
About a year ago I started going to some classes, that being said sometimes I just need a way to release stress. Take one day at a time, btw, go go go go....... ππΌπππΌ

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieve permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Iβve been in maintenance for several months until the holidays, content at around 146. I am now OVER the point at which I didnβt want to be again (150), so Iβll be getting back on track to lose back down to at least around 146 or so. May try to go lower in the new year, but we will see. For the immediate future, I just want to get and stay back under 150.

12/26= 153.4 There you have it. My Christmas high. Iβm owning it, realizing thereβs lots of work to do in the coming days to not only lose the weight but make it past the sugar/carb cravings that will have increased due to these indulgent last however many days. Good luck in βrecoveryβ friends.
12/27= 151.4 It felt really good yesterday to eat healthy again! Got in a bike ride and a walk on the beach, too. Bought an adorable pair of exercise leggings that I will be a walking in today! :-) (Why does something so silly make me feel good?) LOL
12/28= 152.6 Ate healthy again all day (cooked at home too), but did a lot of exercise, so maybe this is water weight from muscle fatigue. Thatβs what Iβm hoping anyway.
12/29= 152.6 I must admit Iβm discouraged by this. Iβve really upped the exercise levels since 12/26 with little positive effect. Iβm eating healthy too and staying under my calorie goal (although not by much). I hope Iβll have a swoosh soon. :-(

If you have a Y with a pool & Water Aerobics or Water Zumba,it is an hour of fun.Many calories burned along with toning.I have difficulty walking & could Never jump around doing land classes.Also very social..I do 5or 6 classes a week.
&if you are eligible for Silver Sneakers(we are not) then there is no cost.

I confess, I've gone crazier with baked goods this Christmas than I have since I started this journey 4 years ago. And that's ok, and I'll let myself eat today and tomorrow. But then I'm getting back on track with another elimination diet round. Although I didn't think the elimination diet I followed last fall made much difference, my pain has increased since I started this food free-for-all for the holidays, and that tells me that food is a factor. I'm considering the past month a reset. Not to re-lose the extra 5 pounds and get healthy. But merry Christmas Eve, those who celebrate, and happy everything to everyone else!

Happy Boxing Day! Also "get closer to on track" day for me. It won't be perfect as we're going out to lunch and I do plan to have one more piece of the mince pie I baked and maybe a piece or two of brown-sugar fudge, but my big fat sugar fest (very unusual for me, even at holidays - don't know what got into me this year!) is over. Also heading for the Y this morning for a walk and I have a session tomorrow with a trainer to work out a work out that won't hurt my inflamed joints. I hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday, whether celebrating Christmas or just life.

Yikes! Some is water since we went to Bob Evans for lunch yesterday, but still, YIKES! I'm awake now, cutting the desserts, and planning to re-start the anti-inflammatory routine this weekend. My new goal for 2019 is 125 pounds - so a pound a month will do it. I've set up 3 coaching appointments at the Y to create some outside accountability and am ordering some cold-weather hiking clothes so I can comfortably get my butt outside, cold or not. (8 years living on the southern NC coast has made me a cold weather weenie!) Onward!

I had an orientation session at the Y yesterday so I have no more excuse not to get back to weight training, and my fist coaching session is next week. I felt really good yesterday afternoon and evening after even the short session + short time on stationary bike, so I'm looking forward to getting back at it! And I'm going to make a supreme effort to get my butt out of bed early to swim laps when the pool is vewy, vewy quiet, if my shoulder pain allows. Now to cut back on calories, but that shouldn't be hard since all the goodies are gone now but for one small piece of mince pie with my name on it. Back to fish and veggies and fruit and whole grains.... I find it important to start my re-starts before Jan. 1 so I'm already rolling. Anyone else feel that way? (Recognizing that most of you didn't go quite so crazy this round and last!)

12/26 - 255.6 - This is a definite win for me. I ate at maintenance yesterday but had a lot of sodium. I'm doing so much better this year than last even though I'm up from my lowest of 252 in R61. Other years, it's nothing for me to pack on 10 pounds during the holidays and stay that way or go even higher and of course, give up trying altogether. This time it will be different.
